  PS please don't tell me not to use VLC.  There is no frame advance.  And is 'not' compatible 'screen Hunter' which I use for making screenshots in 1280 x 1024, which VLC can even begin to do.   (Yes screenhunter makes caps what is the resolution of your computer)

  the Tecra 780DVD was delivered with the operating system Windows 95, Windows 98 a Win Nt 4.0.

  The problem is that the installed hardware decoder does not work with Windows ME !

  I think that you need to install a right codec pack.
  I guess you didn't install a MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 codec and therefore it of not possible to play DVDs using the window medial player.

  Personally, I prefer the K-Lite Codec Pack Full.
  This codec package contains everything that is needed.
  Google of this package if you want to download it.

  In addition I advise to use free VLC Player.
  This player is a free, downloadable tool on the internet.
