  Above all Equium M40x can be upgraded to 2 GB of memory. You need to the MMAR DDR SO-DIMM modules with specification PC2700. You can use up to 1 GB in each of the slots.

  Furthermore, I checked the Web of Kingston site because it has Configurator memory. If you are looking for satellite M40x-189, you will get two compatible memory modules:
  KTT3311A/512 (512 MB SO-DIMM)
  KTT3311A / 1 G (1 GB SO DIMM)

  So in your case I would buy one or two of these modules because they seem to be compatible with your computer satellite phone. ;)

  This software is only available on the Toshiba Recovery CD and cannot be downloaded.
  All Toshiba drivers are published on the Toshiba page!

  If you wish, you can order the recovery CD of the ASP where you bought the laptop. In you case it s Germany.
  Finally and most importantly the recovery CD can be ordered only in the same language.
  If you bought the laptop in Germany, you will only get the recovery in relevant language CD.

  I'm not sure about the cost but it must be very cheap!

  RELOADED Windows XP, but did not find the Toshiba Utilities and drivers disk that had to come with the lappy, not much works and in Device Manager there are a load of devices with yellow alerts.

  The internal wireless is not predictable or is a wireless card that is inserted in the housing of PCMI extension on the side.
  These are just the first things I noticed were not available. Need wireless for internet access to register Windies.

  I don't know what drivers/utilities, I need to download and install from Toshiba download drivers web site.

  The laptop model is mentioned on the label located on the bottom of the unit.
  Choose the right laptop and install all the drivers/tools on the page of Toshiba.

  The M40x is a bit older so search the Archives of the driver page!

  PS: you can see some details on the pilots or the tool in addition to information. He of always right!

  Hi, I have a SATELLITE M40X-189, I would like to replace the hard drive and would like if possible some recommendations!
  I know I need an ide/pata and I currently have a hard disk of 40 GB hitachi 5400 rpm installed. The memory is just what came installed originally, (512 MB, no upgrade).

  So what size I can up to?
  I have a lot of music/photos and video to change so must also size decent 80 GB would be enough?
  I really don't use it for anything other than that, and also the navigation on the internet. Although I often have a few programs running at the same time which causes problems... freeze, (in particular I tunes) and generally slow running.

  I'm confident on the physical replacement, and I know how to clone my old drive hard etc, but just need some info about the size and speed and if possible
  a recommendation of the manufacturer. Just worried about incompatibility really issues.

  Also, if you think I should install more memory, which size and make and model may recommend.

  Did you do that too?

  It shows the following compatible modules:
  KTT3311A/512 512 MB SO-DIMM (915)
  KTT3311A / 1 G 1 GB SO DIMM (915)

  Son in your case, I would buy these modules! ;)

  AFAIK the RS-232 port is a serial port and I don t think that it of possible to connect the RGB port to the RS232 port.

  I have a Toshiba Satellite M40x-189, which is about 18 months old. Recently, I had too replace the battery, but now it seems that my adapter had fried itself.   I saw your first thread on the power adapter and that other users already suggested the power adaptor can be ordered from the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country!
  If you n t know how to find the service provider allowed in your country, please take a look on the homepage of European support of Toshiba. You will find a link to the database ASP.

  As you have already said the laptop automatically stops downs have nothing to do with the AC adapter.
  I agree with you for me, it looks like overheating!
  Usually, this happens if fans and cooling modules cannot run with maximum efficiency.
  Dust may prevent the complete rotating fan!

  I recommend to use the vacuum against the bars of cooling hose to clean the fans!
  It should help!
  But please be careful.

  I use partition magic to create and manage new partitions. In my opinion it of the best tool if you want to work with partitions.
  I have 2 partitions on my unit. C for OS and D for the 3rd of data and files. In this case if I recover my unit only the first C partition will be formatted.
