Need help... SSO configuration with vmware view

Hi team,

I'm under vmware view 5.1.2. I would like to configure SINGLE sign-on can we avoid to connect computers to office twice. But I'm really confused here in the configuration of SSO given that no official no documents for this.can a help me on this

2. don't have us install and configure SSO on the remote machine where we have installed the vmware view client?

or this sso must be installed on individual workstations?

3. can I use vmware sso that comes with vcenter 5.1 for this set up?

any help would be appreciated

Kind regards

Shan

N ° you must install anything on virtual desktops other than the Agent of the view. This gives view SSO.

You can talk about vCenter SSO who is not related to the PSO from view.

To display, you must only install the software referenced in the view installation guide.

  • ThinPro with VMware View USB Redirection

    Hi all:

I'm trying to configure my workstation (t620 ThinPro 5.1 running) to start required services necessary for USB with VMware View forwarding at startup.  I tried to add the command to /etc/rc.local and created my own init.d script, but none of these options automatically launch services.  Run manually /etc/rc.local and the custom init.d script launches the services successfully.

Has someone managed to get the necessary USB redirection services running at the start?  Any guidance is appreciated.

    Thank you.

Solved my problem... changed under USB Manager Remote Protocol of VMware View.  Updated this setting caused VMware services to run at startup.

  • Customer light HP t5325 doesn't work don't not with VMware View 5

    Hello

I recently got a slim Pro HP t5325 customer for testing with VMware view 5. I ve the thin client to the latest firmware update:

    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en & cc = us & prodTypeId = 12454 & prodSeriesId = 4063703 & prodNameId = 4063704 & swEnvOID = 4030 & swLang = 13 & mode = 2 & taskId = 135 & swItem = vc-99080-1)

    http://www.VMware.com/resources/compatibility/PDF/vi_view_guide.PDF

It should work with view 5. But when I try to launch the client and connect to your desktop from view, he asks just a super quick message (which I don't see) and then it brands the "active" session, but it doesn't open anything . View 5 Client on my laptop works very well and I m able to access the same desktop VM.

    My current setup is:

    • vCenter server 5
    • ESXi5
    • VMware View 5

What Miss me? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hello

I had the same problem this week. He is not related to view 5, same problem exists also with 4.6.

The problem seems to be that when you try to open the connection, the client calls a /usr/bin/view_wrapper.sh script and this script does NOT run with user privileges? However, if you switch to admin and then open the connection this script works well. You can test it by opening the X terminal in the thin client, then the su user and try to run the script manually /usr/bin/view_wrapper.sh start at 0 and you will get a prompt for sudo.

I tried to add the useraccount 'user' in/etc/sudoers and allow that user rights sudo for view_client and view_wrapper.sh programs. Did not help

If you add the user 'user' to the root group, connection opens fine but then you let the open thin client for the standard user to mess with.

Quite a bug in the software? They don't do any test before releasing these?

  • The simplest configuration of vmware view?

    Good evening

We have a small project with 5 desktop computers (= Users) and we think that it would be a good place to test VMware View.

Unfortunately, it seems that we must implement the 4 servers to serve 5 customers:

    • See connection to the server
    • VMWare vCenter Server with View Composer
    • ESX Server
    • View transfer server

What is the most simple and functional solution for VMware View with 5 users?

The only software they use is a simple accounting tool that works very well with 100 k of memory...

We hope that we can install a simple solution like this:

    HP (server) hardware with:

    • ESX Server with:
      • 1 x Windows 2008 R2 with Active Directory and the file server
      • 1 x Windows 2008 R2 with VMWare View to serve the 5 office users

Unfortunately, there are no pre-sales VMware does support form / email (we hope that there is a customer support).

Therefore, it would be great if someone can help us to answer this question.

Thank you very much in advance,

    Kind regards

    Thomas

I also wonder how this bake-off will go. I hope that the victories of view! In order to achieve this please take a good look at the documentation of the view. I also highly recommend that you take a look at the guide to optimize Windows 7 to see: http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/VMware-View-OptimizationGuideWindows7-EN.pdf

This will show you how to build a good image of Win 7 basis for review. Also note that it is strongly recommended that you build your base images starting from zero and NOT P2V them. You can quickly and easily build images for operating systems Windows using MDT 2010 update 1. This tool is free and is Microsoft. I strongly recommend that you take a look. In addition, many optimizations for Win7 and view are also good for use with Xen. Good luck.

  • Is it possible to remove the disposable disc to a pool configuration in VMware View?

I would like to remove the option of disposable disc several persistent pools in VMware View Horizon 5.3.1 (where virtual machines are already using disposable disks); However, there doesn't seem to be a way to do this in the options of the pool. Is it possible to remove the disk otherwise option or should I remove the old pool and create a completely new without this option enabled?

I used disposable disk option seems to be to save storage space, but I discovered that disposable disks have been updated only when displaying launched a turning off the virtual machines in the pool (which never happens). I thought that disposable records updated each time that a client shutdown/restarted the VM... but which is not the case. Given this information, I would like to stop using disposable disks as they really may not confer any advantage the way our persistent virtual machines are configured.

Thanks in advance for any help!

OK, you're right... only the drive letter customization is allowed.

Now to answer your question, the one and only formally is to remove the pool by archiving all disks persistent (user data disk), and then create a pool with the same name (but without SDS).

In addition, select all the archived UDD and then click on, "recreate". All new desktop computers will be recreated with the new spec,

Another way (not officially committed / not sure of its effects)

EAP-SVIVmPersistentDiskSpec entry will be there to ADAM OR = database server groups (VMware KB: connecting to the Database View ADAM)

This entry will be there for disposable system that has a parameter "DiskUsage is SystemDisposable".

Upron deleting the corresponding entry * may * end configuring don't not the SSD for the supply of others.

  • Need help to set up VMware Fusion 2

I am trying to configure VMware Fusion 2 and need help with the proper way, access this topic.  I have a Mac Pro with XP Pro installed via Boot Camp.

One of my hard drives is 1 TB that I dedicated 300 GB to Windows and installed XP Pro with Office 2007, MS Flight Simulator and a few other programs. The rest of the disc is for Mac stuff. I intend to run MS Flight Simulator natively via Boot Camp, but want to run Office and a few other programs via VMware Fusion 2.

VMware Fusion 2 is installed on the computer, but I'm confused by how to configure. Should what steps I take to do this?

Normally, if there is a Boot Camp partition with Windows installed VMware Fusion detects it automatically and complete an entry on the library of Virtual Machine named Boot Camp partition and you simply double-click and he should be executed even if the first time it is run it through a preparatory process that takes a few minutes.

That being said there are several reasons why the Boot Camp partition might not automatically appear on the Virtual Machine library and to the solution the simplest it's Fusion of closing and reopening it however if it doesn't then it becomes more difficult to diagnose and fix if possible.

Also, there are a problem experienced during the Boot Camp partition is located on a drive more than 950 GB and a 1 TB HARD drive should show about 931 GB I don't know exactly what Fusion studies in this area to determine her size but I think that the issues that I have seen posted the deal with more than 1 TB HARD disk as in the post in this search result link: the search results for 1.5 GB Seagate.

You can also try to manually create a virtual hard disk that is then more metadata pointing to the raw disk and manually create a partition Boot Camp Virtual Machine around that but I do not have the necessary parameters to stop this Boot Camp partition manually created the Virtual Machine to take snapshots or being suspended unless someone VMware will show what these settings are for Fusion 2.x I am reluctant to give directions as it would be dangerous to run with these capabilities on a manually created partition from Boot Camp Virtual Machine.

Other reported problems treated with NTFS - 3G installing stopping the Boot Camp partition to be recognized automatically and have to temporarily uninstall NTFS - 3 G.

He had to see what he says in System Profiler for the hard disk on which you have Boot Camp.  Select the target Serial - ATA drive and copy and paste the information for this drive in a response.

  • Thin client HP t5135 VDI / configuration of VMWare View

I tried to configure my t5135 to be a thin client VDI, but in vain. I'm looking for some idea where I can configure my VDI / VMWare View in this thin client. I tried several configs, but can't seem to get that it connects to my login server, I installed the windows client and it works fine.

    Thank you

    Matt

Had the same problem with the t5145. HP said to allow the direct connection and it should work with vmview. However he has worked with the former client of 2.0 client just couldn't do SSO on. Technology of lvl 2 HP said that he could not do the tunneling using the broker.

  • HP C4580 not scan to PC. I need help to configure my Netgear router please :)

    Hello

I've read here, the threads that talk about this printer prints only not to or from a PC - my problem is that the C4580 go scan from my PC, but will not scan to PC.

I found an answer from someone who has had the same problem earlier this year, but I do not understand what to do.

    Here's the answer:

"I have ordered mine entering the settings from my router (Netgear) page and setting the built-in firewall rules. "The internal firewall was blocking the printer, I could print, scan using the computer, just could not scan from the printer to the computer.

Also, I have a Netgear router, but could do with help on how to do the same thing as the person above.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Sorry, I don't need help after all

It was not the router requires a configuration, it is the firewall that was a block that should be changed to "allow".

My "all-in-one" now does everything it is supposed to do

  • A local user account can be used with VMware View?

I have a bit of a unique situation.  I virtualized PC (off the field) which is basically a controller or a big machine.  To run the software from the vendor, the local user account is required.

Unfortunately, it doesn't allow a local user account to add to the display manager.  Am I missing something, or is it just not possible?

    Thank you!

As said Mark, you can disable Single Sign-on on the desktop so that after you authenticate to view (it must be a domain user) you can then enter any identifying information that you have on the desktop itself.

Policy details are in 5.1 Administrator's Guide Page 163 views and politics is titled AllowSingleSignon:

    http://pubs.VMware.com/view-51/topic/com.VMware.ICbase/PDF/view-51-administration.PDF

You will be able also a step further. After that you disabled SSO on the desktop, you can configure kiosk in view mode that the client used to connect to this desktop computer (if you are using only a single customer) would link up to this office automatically and then the user would simply see the Windows login prompt and be able to authenticate locally.

I have installed the following to an ESX 4.1 server:

-VMware View connection server (Server 2008 R2 Ent)

    -V - Center (Server 2003 Std)

Install the VMware Client with Local Mode 4.5 to a laptop

Installed VMware Agent to a Windows XP and Win7 is a guest vm on the ESX Server.

I can connet with success both of these machines.

When I try to extract either of these machines, I get the error message after 2% saying, "underlying this desktop virtual machine is unavailable.

  • Need help - Cisco ASA with the power of fire

    Hello

Currently, we use asa 5510 without function of firepower. Our goal is to publish web servers and microsoft lync with reverse proxy method. control internet traffic, apply extensions individual file not to download, management of bandwidth etc.

Is it possible if we add firepower on asa 5510... Please guide me... Thank you

Power of fire must be installed on the new series X of the SAA.  5512 x, x 5515, 5525 x, etc.

If you have a 5510, you probably want a 5512 x with an SSD.  Cisco has beams of firepower include the ASAx with SSD and the license of firepower.

Adds that you must also Firesight management software, and there is a license bundle of 2 camera for under $ 500 that you can install on VMWare.

Firepower is not reverse proxy, it's transparent online packages, analysis and filtering by URL / Application / and threat mitigation.

If you want a reverse proxy, you should look into Microsoft ISA server or a Proxy Server reverse dedicated Web.  Cisco gave its product Web Director, who has done this function.

You can host Web sites behind a firewall of ASA without proxy reverse.  And the ASA has an inspection of the request for HTTP traffic, responsible for watching HTTP requests.  The firepower to the ASA system also has specific signatures that monitor traffic to the web servers and prevent specific vulnerabilities that are known on those servers, so if that is what you want the Reverse Proxy for, then the power of fire module would probably cover your needs.

Don't forget that until the next quarter firepower system has no decryption on the box, and you might want to wait that the feature is released and put in place, so that you know what size firewall you need protect your network with the SSL decryption.  I believe that the ASA5512x is testing at 75 Mbps stream decrypted via the fire power module, which is about half of what was before CX, then you could use the sizing numbers CX and extrapolate until Cisco releases official decryption numbers.

  • With VMware View Server using LDAPS (port 636)

I've been responsible for something that seems impossible/not supported.

VMware View Server uses port 389 for LDAP.  My task is to do view to use instead the port 636 (LDAP over SSL).  The accusation is that the replicated servers in VMware View data not encrypted between other on port 389.

So far in my quest, I did no progress in this project.  However, I was able to test that manual connections can now be performed (with ADSI Edit) with port port SSL 636 other replicated servers view.  Problem is that the view seems to have hard-coded to use port 389 and cannot be moved to use LDAPS.

There are instructions to do something like this in vCenter (http://www.vstable.com/2012/01/27/vcenter-5-active-directory-web-services-error-1209/) (Security Virtual Lab: & amp; nbsp;) Architecture - Blog - proSauce), but nothing related to the sight of the surfaces in a Google search.

Someone at - it have a Yes or whinny if possible?

EDIT: Moved to the correct community.

It is not easy being responsible for something impossible!

Connection view servers have an AD LDS instance, and replication between servers using the AD LDS replication. This is a replication mechanism secure by using the replication RPC, LDAP and Kerberos and secure without having to implement LDAP over SSL on 636.

The articles you refer to are actually on the definition of a port number unused LDAPS access of Web Active Directory Services with vCenter Server to get rid of an event without danger. It does nothing to do with replication between LDAP servers. View prevents remote access Active Directory Web services anyway with a specific firewall rule so that remote users have no access to it.

The only reason why you can use LDAPS with AD LDS is if you support simple LDAP connections. The use of SSL would mean that the simple bind passwords are not sent in the clear. In the case of the view, simple LDAP connections are not enabled in any case.

In summary, what you're trying to do is useless.

  • Native integration with VMware View

I'm evaluating the access (without client) browser based virtual destops with Ericom AccessNow for VMware View software.

Please find diagram of connection planned for use in the attached file.

Does anyone has tried to do already?

What is the best practice to integrate native and VMware View?

Where can I find the rules of firewall used in the integration of product?

Are there security issues with access by browser-based virtual desktops?

    Thank you much in advance.

In general, we do not see a lot of native discussion here, so maybe this isn't the best place for this post.   You can try this http://communities.vmware.com/people/AdamG53 guy has sent a private message because he used to work for the natives.   I have not seen him active lately, so I don't know if it meets or not.

    I created an individual office.

Windows XP SP3 virtual MACHINE, I've enabled RDP (Remote Desktop) and added to the domain users group access to

    This virtual machine.

Now I use the test account that is part of the domain users.

I opened Vmware View Client I get the WinXP which has the right to the domain users but when I click on connect

    I get this error

Error when using Vmware View Client 3.1.2

""This Office is currently not available. " "Please, try to connect to this desktop computer later, or contact your system administrator.

This is linked with the permissions?

    check the fixing

    Thank you very much

Make sure that the Windows Firewall is disabled really. Allowed, start, stop and then turn it off again.

The view Agent starts the firewall service (even if it has been disabled) to add a firewall rule for RDP. The sequence above should ensure that really, he is arrested.
