need help to replace the drive HARD on HP Pavilion laptop computer model 17-e118dx / 17.3 AMD A8

Hello

I'm looking for advice, tutorials or links which will help me safely access my hard drive for repacement. I found a screw that holds a back cover, but the cover would not budge after removing the screws. Other info: 17.3 AMD A8 750 GIG. Also interested in information related to the upgrade / increase memory and if possible, upgrade to backlit keyboard.

Thank you

Scott

Hi Scott

Here is your manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04069163.pdf

Go to Page 6, 49-51, 54 for details & alternative methods.

You can upgrade to 1 TB

Maximum RAM upgrade is given as 8 GB max in this form: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04235458
You can add another 4 GB in the other slot with the same configuration - DDR3L PC3L-12800 1600 MHz 1.35v SODIMM SDRAM

Unfortunately,.
Changing the keyboard cannot be done, motherboard has changed for this.

Thank you

Migration of CS4 breaks the license. That's what 150:30 means. Assuming you are using a Mac.

You can use the Terminal method to repair the license... but I stress that carefully read you and understand the instructions here before you run it. beginning

My problem is that the software is supposed to be on the disk but I do not see the player to download. I tried to download the Seagate Manager, but it shows no available disks. Any help will be most appreciated.

  • Need help to install the new hard drive in Satellite Pro M10

    Hi all

My hard drive died in my M10 Pro Satellite so I decided to adapt to another.
It fits very well in the caddy, but just does not want to slot into place correctly as something seems to be stopped.
    The M10 only accepts a certain brand/model?
Also, nobody knows this as the largest capacity M10 will accept?
    Thank you very much.

As much as I know should not be problem at all. Take the old and the new HARD drive and compare the connectors. I hope that they are the same. I can only imagine that the new HD is not placed correctly in the HARD drive bracket. Make sure that the new is placed as an old man after his retirement from the laptop.

As for max capacity of HARD drive, there is no precise information and we can only speculate on this. Try to use the search option on this forum. Maybe someone already talked to upgrade the HDD on Sam/Satellite Pro M10.

The fact is that Satellite Pro comes with 30, 40 and 60 GB hard drives. How many GB does your new HARD drive?

  • You will need to replace the drive hard, etc.

    Thanks, Hüffer

Since I was 99% plug-and-play, which means when he says 'naked reader? My expectations are to connect the new disk, run the recovery disks, run my backup files and go from there. It is much more difficult than that?

Furthermore, what about updates since I generated recovery discs?

    Mr. Donovan

You should kick him out on the original thread so that people can see it and understand where we have been.

Yes it's Plug and play at the level of the material... Plug the drive and use it, but it just means that the system detects the drive as material. You still have prep. it and load it with software, but the recovery disc that does for you. If you have used HP Backup and Recovery Manager, you will get a software to factory installation (or maybe a simple OS with the drivers if you have a newer version of the software and chose this option for backup). It's like a time machine, so you have to go back to the future by running Windows Update and reinstall all software non - OEM and then that update (e.g. MS Office) and then migrate your old files on. It's a good afternoon, turned in the tuckus but better that lose everything.

  • Replacing the drive HARD on Satellite C850

I found this Toshiba on Youtube video that shows how to replace the hard drive on the C850.
    http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=0550V-181d0

It helped me a lot, because there is NO entry in the user manual on how to replace it and where the hard drive can be placed.

They show you where is the memory, but not where is the hard drive. WTF? so, this video tells you it's in the same slot for memory.

    Hello

Yes, I also noticed that not all information can be found in single user manuals.
However, there are many other sources to find essential details.

Toshiba Europe youtube channel seems to offer a lot of useful videos to replace the HARD drive, memory or a drive CD/DVD in the different laptop models.

  • Replacing the drive HARD on Portege R400

    HI people,

Can someone point me to a disk for the R400 replcacement? Those listed on www.topazsupport.co.uk is horribly too expensive, of course, I'm looking for a drive 1.8 "standard that fits this model.
I noticed that the current HARD disk has a female connector while the disks hard most seem to have a male (I say "appear" because nobody seems to actually have real pictures of their readers for me to know)!

    Thank you

    Ferg.

According to specification for laptop, your laptop has 80 GB 1.8 inch PATA HDD.

To be honest I don't know what to do, you mean with standard HARD disk. The fact is that you must use compatible HARD drive for your laptop model. According to the specifications of the laptop, you can use disk TOUGH MK8007GAH. In my opinion, you need replace HD with the same model. So you can be sure that everything will be OK. I think also a capacity of 80 GB is sufficient.

I found nice pictures for you:
Here is the image of HARD drive
    Here you can see connectors

At the end, I must say that replacement of HARD drive seems easy but these hard drives 1.8 are more sensitive and pressure on the wrong spot can damage the HARD drive and data may be lost.

Do you want to replace one?

  • Replacing the drive HARD - Am I was scammed?

    Hello

My HARD drive has failed on me (error 301). Bought a new WD Scorpio Blue 500 GB and gave it to an official HP Service Center for the recovery of the system. I currently live in Jakarta, Indonesia. Engineers then told me that they could not install/do the system recovery because I bought the laptop in the United States. Different region, they say, and the best they could do was just to install a clean Win 7 home.

But a few days later they told me that they could not yet install Win 7, and my new WD HDD was damaged. They said that they have tried with their HARD disk, which is the same brand as the original HDD (Toshiba) supplied with the notebook. Gave me a quote for 3 million rupees (US $$317) for HARD drive not including service fees with an inexplicable discount of 1 Million rupees (US $$126). I refused and asked my laptop back. And when I turned it on, it was on the last step of the installation of Win 7 (PC name enter, password, cd key, etc...). The laptop works fine now, just, without the recovery partition. I ordered a HP.com recovery kit but it'll take a while to get here.

Is it normal for a Service official HP Center replace a HARD drive for more than $200 USD?

The recovery kit works on a WD Scorpio Blue 500 GB HARD drive?

    HP Pavilion dm4-1265dx.

    2 years - no guarantee

    Concerning

Generally, the price HP or service provider will charge you for an item is much higher than in the retail channel. Also, a Service Center HP 'official' need not be owned and operated by HP... This could be a third-party provider approved by HP. And Yes, there are many questions for obtaining maintenance work in another region when the computer has been sold.

You need to create your own personal when HP recovery disk you first set up your computer. This should have resolved most of your questions. Here are the specifications of your laptop HP Pavilion dm4-1265dx Entertainment. According to specifications, your original computer hard drive was 640 GB. A 500 GB drive should work with the HP recovery discs but noted problems with it installing to a drive that is smaller than the factory.

  • Please, how do I replace the drive hard envy 15-k112nl

Hello everyone, I bought this model a few days ago and I would like to replace the hard drive with an SSD, but I can't find any instructions for disassembly.
    Can you help me?

I also add a software problem, whenever you launch the module IGFX not gives more a mistake, how can I do to solve?

Here is a video that will help you:

    Remove the top cover

Replace the hard drive with an SSD, it will remove the top cover and the hard drive located in a high bay following the motherboard. It is not as easy as other models that have a door for easy access to the hard drive. While you're there, consider upgrading the memory as it is the same moiré to a chore.

Replace the SATA drive with the SSD. You should do the recovery HP using HP restore disks and backup utility installed on the computer. Since it's so new a factory reload probably not lose much if any of your data, but you also have the ability to save that, too '

  • Replaced the drive hard and now Windows 7 Enterprise activation fails

I just updated the hard drive on my laptop using Windows system image utility, and now I am unable to activate Windows 7 Enterprise 64.

During online activation I get error code 0x800723B "the DNS name does not exist.

  • Need help with replacing a drive on a virtual machine

Test case for something I need to do on a separate production machine.  Virtual MACHINE is running WinSvr2003.  Only the hard disk assigned to the virtual machine is one of 20 GB disk, C: using this.  Need to C: to be larger.  Add a 40 GB drive to the configuration of the VM in the CR.  Started an iso BartPE with plug-in in Ghost.  Ghost can copy the C: 20 GB drive on the 40 GB drive.  Went in the VM config and changed is the 40 GB SCSI 0.1 drive and the drive of 20 GB at SCSI0, 2.  After I saved, VMware changed the 40 GB on disk 1 and the 20 GB on disk 2.  Went it into the BIOS on the machine config to boot the disk of 40 GB.  But no matter how I put it in the BIOS, it would only start on the 20 GB drive.  Went in the VM config and removed the 20 GB drive (which is not an option on the production machine, it has a volume of data on the same drive).  It boots to Windows, so I guess it's start on the 40 GB drive.  But I am unable to connect to it.  It shows that the application of settings, record the settings, then back to the login screen, all within 2 seconds approximately.

Is there anything else I need to do to (1) move the volume from the Windows system to a new disk w without side effects in Windows and (2) so that it can start on the new disk correctly?

If it is a single virtual drive with 2 partitions and the C:\ is on the front of the drive, Extpart won't help. It is usually best to separate the partitions to multiple virtual disks. I use the converter to V2V the VM and move on their own virtual disk partitions, then develop them if necessary.

  • Replacing the drive HARD on Portege R700

    Hello

I just ordered a R700 and hope to upgrade the HARD drive of 320 GB for one SSD OCZ Vertex 2.
Is it easy to replace the hard drive in the R700? Should I remove the keyboard is a Panel on the back?
What size hard disk will - 2.5 "or 1.8"?
A SSD will be simply connect using existing connections, or something else there?

    See you soon.

According to the specifications of the laptop Portege R700 has 2.5 HARD drive is HDD with SATA interface, so I think that you should order 2.5 SSD with standard SATA connectors.

HARD drive is placed on the bottom side near the cooling vent and it is fixed with a screw only.

Remove the screws and HARD drive. You will see how the HARD disc is placed and how it must be removed.
It's very simple and you can do it alone.

  • Replacing the drive HARD Satellite Pro 4280

I have a SP 4280 and the original hard drive on it does not have earlier. I bought a Hitachi Travelstar 5K 100 40 GB replacement, but I can't seem to make it work. FDisk recognizes the disc as a 40 GB drive and seems to format the drive. However, attempts to write anything to generate results in an error message "invalid media".

Installation using XP Pro format the drive gives me an error message in the sense of "Windows cannot format the drive.

I have attached the drive to my PC via a cable of adapter 2.5 "and it seems to work fine. I also use the latest version of the BIOS on my laptop. It is not the settings of 'cable' rider select and 0/1 on the drive.

Someone knows what the problem is, or that I couldn't do or have suggestions to raise my drive and running?

    Cheers in advance

    Hello

Your device was shipped with a 6 GB HARD drive.
In my opinion, the BIOS has a few problems with the recognition of the HARD drive because of the large size of HARD drive. Unfortunately, I put t see any possibility to solve the problem.
