Need router and switches for simple network tips...

I have to get a new router and switch to an office with 9 computers, 1 printer, and a server.  They are all Mac computers. Two Mac computers are running Windows XP through Parrallels (not sure if it matters).  All computers have just need access to the Internet (through the router), access to the printer and 5 of them on the server.  A few more important details: the router will be located about a quarter of a mile away (where we could get a broadband Internet access) but will have a fiber optic cable running to the office, where will be the selector. In the building off site where the router, we would like to have a backup disk to send important files at the end of each day (or set up to do this automatically later).  The optical fiber has capacity of the card.  We want that the router must be connected only (wireless).  Any suggestion that router and switch combo would be enough?  Thank you!

You can use a RVS4400 router that has a gigabit capacity with 4 ports, connected to the gigabit switch.

I am considering Orbi router and satellites for a condominium of 40 units.

What are the limits on the number of satellites, and how the energy distribution (which carries the signal from the router to the satellite) on the signal, since it needs to go through a panel of circuit breaker between the router and each satellite?

I guess all tests (so far) be on the side of the user to a single panel. In the case of joint ownership, each distribution panel is a subgroup of experts of the main breaker box.

    Hello JimLudden

From what I gather from your question, you think Orbi is a power Extender line? Orbi does not work it on the power line, you can watch these Ko to get a better understanding of what can make the device.

  • Routing and switching

I've posted my scripts in the past and have gotten useful bits of info, but never a complete solution. Is there a Department within Cisco that I could call so I can explain what I want to do in the room of my client, so I finally buy the right stuff of Cisco and run it the way I'm promising my client it will work?

Sent by Cisco Support technique iPad App

Hey Terp, as far as I know, the answer is no. It helps Cisco small business center can provide limited assistance and recommendations, but they are not responsible for your network design and configuration as it is a break fix support.

Cisco partner you buy carries some of the load to provide information and tips for the proper equipment to buy what you need.

I know that you posted some scenarios and ideas. It may not be a bad idea to articulate your goals based on what you've learned and try to communicate on the forum and I and probably others can sound to help you to the best of our abilities.

  • How is the best way to connect the configuration of my router and switch?

I have a cable modem. connect to a switch, I have 2 computers connected to the switch. I also just connected my router wireless switch. That's the best configuration or I lose my firewall of the router in passing is not by ports directly above?

Most of the cable modems will give an IP address, so connect a switch to the modem and then connection of two computers and a router to the switch will usually result in one of these three devices, get an IP address (and internet connection), while the other two will not be.  (Notice that I guess a true "Modem" and not a "Modem/Router" device).  The correct configuration would be to connect your router to the modem (router gets the unique IP address).  The router can then process from the addresses IP what either side LAN of the router, then plug the devices you need (including switch) to the router's LAN ports.  This also ensures that all devices will be on the same subnet that your connection scheme to separate devices on the router wireless from the other two devices on the switch (here, assuming that you have a router/Modem device).

  • Lightroom more slowly than Lr5 cc and struggling for simple cropping and Pan

I wonder if there is something wrong here. I have a decent machine (2500 k overclocked to almost 5 GHz, GTX570, 8 GB ram, Lr, installed on a SSD).

LR5 me served well for a long time, and despite its slowness to certain tasks, it is ok. On the other hand, CRD offers very little new features and a decrease in performance.

I change some 20mp canon raw files and the task simple or cropping/rotation/Pan became a nightmare. It's slow and something seems to be very bad when I try to recrop a virtual copy of an image. At the top very slowly, moving the clipping rectangle sometimes guard reset its position and "refuses" to stay in the place I put it to.

When I zoom and pan on library mode, everything is going well, he gets only bad on developer mode. If I zoom 1:1 and have some adjustments with the brush of spotting, it feels like I'm panoramic a gigantic file on a 20 year old computer. Even in a clean image with no adjustment, developer mode fight bad pan with zoom.

My catalog has around 40 000 files, but it should not matter when a single photo developing. Once again, the same catalog was LR5 and had many questions.

Checked the use of computing resources, and nothing is really forced to the limit. Total memory usage never exceeds 5 GB (about 8 GB) and the CPU usage does not raise above 40%. If believes that CCRB does not have good use of the computing power available.

Just replying to me here, I tried to disable this option in preferences > Performance to use my graphics processor and the performance boosted immediately. It is now at the same level as the Lr5.

I use the version of 350.12 (later like today) of the Nvidia with a GTX570 driver. Apparently, there is a problem on the way that CCRB uses my video card. I hope that this problem is corrected, but at least now my LRcc is usable.

    Eliane,

Please remove the etherchannel port f0/24 of the switch configuration and store it in the trunk.

interface FastEthernet0/24 switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,10,20,30 switchport mode trunk switchport nonegotiate channel-group 1 mode active <<< Remove this
Configure f0 on the router as trunk I think has 877, a switchport which fe interfaces are a part of. To display the corresponding Lass on the router, that you need to configure the VLANS corresponding on the router, then only the Lass will be in a State of going / up otherwise it will be in a down state. See if that helps. Thank you, hyacinth
  • ACL router and Switch

    Hello.

    I have a small question.

I implemented a simple extended ACL.

    ip licensing 10.10.10.0 0.0.0.255 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255

    refuse an entire ip

It is enabled on the SVI interface IN direction with ip 10.10.10.1/24.

When I test with the ping from the router to a network blocked from using the interface (SVI) source ACL does not work.

    Example: ping source 172.16.1.5 10.10.10.1 = success.

This should not be blocked and only allow traffic to 192.168.1.0/24?

So my questions. The ACL effect on the interface of the router itself and only other hosts on the subnet / vlan? (I think I remember having read about it, but can't find it)

    Thank you.

Hi traffic there, navigate the interface so that the ACL to be considered. Here is a link to another thread on the forum that explains this very well:

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/discussion/12043016/pls-explain-SVI-ACL-source-and-destination-direction

    Hello

Don't be fooled by the Windows 7 over VISTA performance index.  Windows 7 uses a scale of differnet.

Update you the bios and the firmware for the optical drive before the upgrade to Windows 7?  If you need these updates then you will probably need to go back to VISTA to get installed them.  Review available software Vista updates for your PC.

LightScribe software can be found here.

    Hauppauge can be found here.

The ATI driver updates can be found here.

  • Recommendations of the pools and desktop for simple deployment PoC

So I was the installation and configuration of the Starter View 5 pack (10 connections) for a COP here and went around in a circle a little when it comes to how I should better serve up some of the resources of the office.  Here's the use case.

Already dedicated VM for remote developers.  Single user for a single virtual machine.

A couple of computer test virtual than say, a group of 5 people can connect at any given time (for testing)

A physical computer with a map of PCoIP host that will be negotiated by the view.  One of a handful of people could connect at any time to test.

All virtual machines are all simple VM with the view agent installed (the composer was not in the mix on any one of them).

So what I've done, it of just to create a number of manual pools, then give the right to assign users to each, so they can try all of them at once.  Unfortunately, I seem to be consistenly falling on an issue where after a user connects and disconnects, another entitled user tries to open a session and gets the message of: "no source funds assigned to this desktop computer.  Please contact your system administrator. "Newspapers of events indicating: 'machines that responded to the questionnaire are currently in use' I have looked at all the relevant KB, but do not quite get to where I'm running on the problem.

My approach is wrong?  I'm going to fund these differently to provide more flexible availability during this test?

    Fragmentary salvation,

Okay, those are the things that come to mind.

The pool, you have problems, which has dedicated assignment? If so, then when a user connects and gets a desktop computer it becomes assigned to them and no one else can have it even if they disconnect you. Difficulty? Change to floating assignmnet

Another problem I find is that many users seem to not want to close the session, they simply disconnect the machines. Depending on your settings they porbably is not disconnected until forced. When they are disconnected yet nobody else can connect

Another thing would be that the machines are turned off/sleep/hibernate after disconnection, but I think the display manager might wake them up, but I'm not sure.

Basically when you get this error message on what it means that the display manager is looking at unassigned machines and do not get a signal from the agent, which indicates that the machine is, connected to and ready.

    These things sound right?

    See you soon

"ORA 12154.TNS could not resolve service name".

    This isn't a matter of user name / it's a configuration problem.

Do you have what database (and version) installed? Did you run the Net Assistent Configuration to configure your SQLNET. ORA and TNSNAMES. ORA files? Are you able to connect to the database using SQL * more? If so, copy the files sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora from your database directory in your repertoire of forms of Oracle (ORACLE of HOME%\Network\Admin %).
