need to change password for root and oracle Linux

Dear all,

We have installed Oracle RAC server configured a year back. now, due to security reason has to change the root and oracle user password.
so before changing the password, we want to know is there any impact on live server due to change password for the user root and oracle RAC.

as we so oracle user equivalence if we change the password, it will work very well.

Thank you

No, there is no impact of the change to the password of user oracle/root on the equivalence of the user and RAC.

  • change the password for root esxi and esx?

    Hello

Is there an easy way to change passwords for root of esx esxi via powercli hosts?

    Thank you!!!

You can use the Set-VMHostAccount cmdlet to change the password of an ESX/ESXi server. Remember that you must connect directly to the host to do.

SE connect-VIServer-Server ESX1.yourdomain .com - user root - password secret

    Game-VMHostAccount - UserAccount root - password topsecret

  • Change the password for root to an ESXi host

    Hello

I need help to get a script VCO that change password for root to an ESXi host.

In PowerCLI is the Set-VMHostAccount cmdlet. I searched in VCO API... I have not found or something similar.

I found the object of VcHostAccountSpec but seems it only works with "Host Profiles" and my licenses are Standard and Enterprise.

    http://www.VMware.com/support/Orchestrator/doc/vco_vsphere51_api/HTML/VcHostAccountSpec.html

    Any idea?

    Thanks, Roberto

Another option would be to connect to the ESXi host with vCO plugin SSH and run the command "passwd" remotely. Haven't tried, but in theory, it should work.

@Tim - we try to keep the compatibility of the existing whenever possible plug-ins vCO so PowerShell module should work with the latest vCO relies.

  • What is the password for the schema ORACLE "SYSTEM"?

I'm under database demo of the E-Business Suite 11i using Vision. I'm following the steps to upgrade JInitiator (Doc ID 124606.1), which includes the passage in maintenance mode by running 'adadmin. When I run this utility and answering a few questions, I get this fast:

Administration of the RFA needs the password for your schema ORACLE 'SYSTEM '.
to determine the configuration of your installation.

Enter the password for your 'SYSTEM ': ORACLE schema

I've never been this password and I never consulted the database directly. What is the default password?

    Hello

The default password for the System user is responsible (unless you change the password after installation).

To reset the password of the system, log into SQL * more as sysdba and issue:

    SQL> alter user system identified by ;

Please note that the database and the database listener must be facing up and running before running any utility of AD.

  • Change password for an Oracle RAC installation account

    All,

I'm not an Oracle DBA, but currently I am asked to fill in until a certified Oracle DBA lights.  I work with MS SQL Server and have servers managed for some time.

That being said, my question is probably a simple.  In the Oracle 11 g RAC 2 installation guide, it tells you * must * use an account that exists on both servers to install.  So far, so good, we have a domain dedicated to this purpose and no other account.  However, due to a recent change in policy, we must also change the password on this account on a regular basis (annual).  My question is, which, if it is, a will this affect on our Oracle RAC database facilities?

If we simply change the password at the domain level, rather than to check the "must change password at next login", is this cause problems with our data?

My inclination is no, we have no problems, because current services 'running' Oracle use the local NETWORK SERVICE account that will not be changed, but confirmation of this would be appreciated.

    Environment:

    Operating system: Windows Server 2008 R2 SP2

    Oracle: 11.2.0.2 and 10.2.0.4

    GRID: 11.2.0.2

    Thank you

    Jason has.

Change password of OS isn't a problem for Oracle DB.

  • Change password for user "root".

I started watching Orchestrator, and I was asked to change the password for the 'vmware' and another 'administrative account"(don't know what it is) when I clicked on Configuration Orchestrator. I clicked on Configuration of the device several times and I have not been invited to reset the 'root' password, I am still able to connect with "vmware" as password. Is it possible for me to connect to via vCenter Orchestrator console and change the password to root via the command line? Or is it possible to force him to ask me to reset the password for the "root"?

If you are able to connect to the vCO Device Configuration using the root / vmware, he should also be able to connect to the console via vCenter as root. Once logged in, simply type passwd and press on enter, then enter your new root pw.
