Change the password for root to an ESXi host

Hello

I need help to get a script VCO that change password for root to an ESXi host.

In PowerCLI is the Set-VMHostAccount cmdlet. I searched in VCO API... I have not found or something similar.

I found the object of VcHostAccountSpec but seems it only works with "Host Profiles" and my licenses are Standard and Enterprise.

http://www.VMware.com/support/Orchestrator/doc/vco_vsphere51_api/HTML/VcHostAccountSpec.html

Any idea?

Thanks, Roberto

Another option would be to connect to the ESXi host with vCO plugin SSH and run the command "passwd" remotely. Haven't tried, but in theory, it should work.

@Tim - we try to keep the compatibility of the existing whenever possible plug-ins vCO so PowerShell module should work with the latest vCO relies.

    Hello

Is there an easy way to change passwords for root of esx esxi via powercli hosts?

    Thank you!!!

You can use the Set-VMHostAccount cmdlet to change the password of an ESX/ESXi server. Remember that you must connect directly to the host to do.

SE connect-VIServer-Server ESX1.yourdomain .com - user root - password secret

    Game-VMHostAccount - UserAccount root - password topsecret

    Help, I've changed the root ESXi via powerCli password, now I can not connect with the web client or the console, but I can still connect to powerCli. The command I used was;

    SE connect-VIServer esxihostname-user root - password newpasswd

This production network btw, I have connected to each host and run the above command, these ESXi hosts are not on a domain

y at - it something I have left out. I really appreciate any assistance that you people can provide.

    Thank you, Joe

It is probably a longshot, but a lot of things in the land of windows is not sensitive to capital letters as Unix is.  I wonder if your new password you put through powerCLI mixed uppercase in it and if the capitalization was abandoned by command windows powerCLI Analyzer, or he interpreted as all capitals or something.   If you can still get through the powerCLI you could try to reset the password again to something simple without capitalization mixed case and if your password on ESXi strategy requires a special character, try something different than a "$", like a "_" (I find that a '_' is less likely than some other special characters (, as a '-' or a ' / ' to cause problems with analyzers.).

    Edit:

Another thing, you can try before playing with the password once again, is to create a different username ESXi using powerCLI and see if the password ends up what you think, it should be, and if you can get with the client vsphere using it.  In this way, you can find out if there are some problems with certain characters or Cap through command powerCLI Analyzer without losing your remaining root by powerCLI access.  After some tests, you can understand what went wrong with your initial password change and may be able to fix it with less risk of losing access.  I also assume that you can not create a new username on ESXi who is able to change the root password no matter what authority give you it, otherwise, you could create a new username with PowerCLI, then connect to the client vsphere with it and change the password to root from there.

    Hello

Unfortunately, it's in the code of conduct for these forums to help users to circumvent passwords and security settings. You will need to remember the password or reinstall.

  • First Cisco VIEW - change the password for the admin GUI of CLI

    Hello

We had someone install an instance of VIEW with the Vmware EGG file, but it seems that they never take the GUI password (admin) during the installation phase.

Does anyone know the process to re-run the configuration script or to change the password for the admin of the SSH session, so we are able to connect to the GUI?

    Thank you

    Andreas

    Hi Andreas,

Sorry, that I was not able to respond until the EGG has been redeployed, however, it is possible to change the CLI from the server admin password.

1 SSH on the server VIEW

    2 cd to/usr/local/cisco/dcm/fm/bin

3 «./addUser.sh--help' to view the syntax of the command.

The syntax for the addUser.sh script is «./addUser.sh .  The adduser script to add new accounts to users or change the password for the existing user accounts.

    4. to change the admin password, the command should look like this,

    «./adduser.sh admin .

If you have forgotten the password for the database, you can find it in the file, usr/local/cisco/dcm/jboss-as.7.2.0-Final/standalone/conf/postgres.cfg.xml.  Use the 'cat /usr/local/cisco/dcm/jboss-as.7.2.0-Final/standalone/conf/postgres.cfg.xml' command to print the contents of the file to the screen.

    Kumaran S

    Hello Kumaran,

For security reasons, I would not be advised to do.

If it's not prod, some customers follow which. But it's sold to the customer.

However, for the production, it is not recommended.

    Hope this helps!

    Kind regards

  • In the world, change the password for the connection properties?

I use developer SQL to connect to several work areas and need to change the password for each of these months.

Have a script that iterates through each of the database and changes the password.

My problem is that I have to update all of my properties login for SQL Developer and have each connection updated to a new password.

Short of manually changing each connection is possible for the global changes the password for these connections?

    Thank you very much

    No, but.

There are password there lockers that allow you password auto - magically. The password is defined by the title of the window asking for the password. So if you held your passwords in 'the cloud', she would never put need up-to-date with SQL Developer.

Is this really the same problem?

  • How can I change the password for Agent DSCC on ODSEE 11.1.1.7?

    Hello

Someone at - he met how to change the password for the DSCC Agent? I found not yet all orders that allows it.

    Mohammad

    Hello

Sylvain, the links you give are not 11.1.1.7 for previous versions.

There is no CLI to change the password of DSCC agent in 11.1.1.7. As agent DSCC has no data, I suggest to delete and recreate your agent by using the following path:

    • dsccreg remove-agent
    • dsccagent delete
    • create a dsccagent (use the same port as before)
    • dsccreg add agent

No change on the servers of DS/DPS is necessary (no new registration...), if you keep the same port.

    It will be useful,

    Carole

  • Anyone know how to change the password for the installation of Adobe Flash Player?

Anyone know how to change the password for the installation of Adobe Flash Player? I have tried everything that I usually use and nothing works. My Adobe ID password works perfectly. I can't complete the installation without this, and it doesn't have a 'forgotten password' button to change it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

There is no password required for the installation of Flash Player, at least not on the side of the things Adobe.  It's probably the security of your computer, forcing you to you connect allowing the installation to occur.  Only you would know what would be the connection for this information.
