Need to convert Windows Media WMV in AVi or Mp4 files

Integrate the WMV files in a website, built using WordPress, comes up with an error box. This does not happen with MP4 or AVI files. I have a number of video clips in WMV, so I need to convert them.

Suggestions?

Hello

The only possible solution is to use non-Microsoft program to convert a file format to MP4 file format. You can search online to get one of these.

To find the right program, check for the information under articles 'And music videos conversion' in this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Convert-music-videos-and-pictures-from-one-format-to-another

I was always able to play MP4 on my HP laptop.  Now, I get a message that Windows Media Player has encountered a problem.  I went on the site and followed the instructions.  Always impossible to get Microsoft Media Player to read my files.  I have created dozens over the last two years. I ran all the updates...

It seems that the mp4 codec to play these videos has become corrupted or deleted. AVIcodec allows you to see if you have the right codec installed for this video http://www.myvideoproblems.com/Tutorials/avicodec.html this will tell you what codec you need, and then install or reinstall google if it comes from a cd that came with your camera or something similar.

I have a problem with Windows Media Player on laptop Lenovo G780. My laptop is under warranty (bought a month ago), but technical support Lenovo told me that the Windows Media Player program is not covered by the warranty.

    And this is a problem:

I had the same problem and then by chance, I tried a video on YouTube and it worked for me. Here's how I went on this issue and solved my problem:

    1. go to the computer, then OS (C).
    2. you will need to open Program Files (x 86) and Program Files.
    3. go to Windows Media Player in Program Files (x 86) and open the folder.  Then, remove the wmplayer file.  You may need to work around the error TrustedInstaller.  I'll tell you that, in a moment.
    4. in Program Files, go to the same folder for Windows Media Player and select the same file again. Wmplayer.  Copy the file in another window open.  Copy ensures that if the question comes up again you can at least try to fix it again.
This should be the end of your problem.  If you need to circumvent the TrustedInstaller question is how:
    1. right click on wmplayer and select Properties > Security > advanced > owner > Edit > other users and groups.
    2. Enter your username and then click on check names.  Click OK.
    3. close the dialog boxes as he has requested.
    4. open again the properties and click Security.  Select your username from the list and click on edit.  From there, select full control.
This should give you full control over the removal of the original file for WMP and easily allow you to copy the other files (x 86) programs.
Please let me know how it goes for your problem.

What burning CDs in Windows Media music system prepares all the files listed.  When the system starts writing the files on the disc it gets through about 4 songs and then goes to finalize the disc and ejects the disc.  The disk does not appear to have anything on it.  Can I do anything locally to solve the problem?

    My system is XP.

I burned the disc a lot in the past

There has been no major changes to the system

The files I am to burn to the disc are previously ripped files on the disk hard, some of them were burned on another drive before.

I tried to slow down the burn speed, but that did not work.

    CD burning problem

    Hello

    • You receive an error message when burning CDs?
    • What were the changes made before the issue started?
To resolve this problem, do one or more of the following and then try again:

    a. Verify that the CD burner is properly connected.

    b. clean the disc and verify that it is not damaged.

    c. try a different brand of blank discs.

    d. If another program is currently burning files on the CD, wait until the burning process is completed.

    e. Quit other programs that may be using the CD burner.

    f. restart Windows Media Player.

    g. restart your computer.

    h. use the Windows error-checking tool to find system errors of files with bad sectors on your hard drive. For more information about the error-checking tool, see Windows Help and Support.

  • How do I edit metadata for wmv, avi and mp4 files in WINDOWS XP.

    Hello world

I have windows xp professional sp3 and windows media player 11. I am not aware that with my system, I can use anything beyond wmp11.

I have a filmmaker who does not use Mac (I really don't like them). As such have hundreds of video files, both my own and friends, colleagues and clients. I'm * REALLY * try to organize my files and I wanted to add metadata to the videos so that I can search by category, type and the names of the people who participated in the production. I tried to make this easier by using the metatags as 'comments' and 'Keywords' etc. I thought it was a pretty simple procedure - just right click on the file and change the properties.

I tried everything that comes to mind and spent 3 hours in all research on this question with NO results! Each awnser I've seen so far does not help me. Unless really miss me something.

I imported video files in my library. I can't get the "Advanced Tag Editor" appears with movie files. I understand not only with audio files. I downloaded abcavi editor and who does nothing, I can't always find the files and when I right click on them and look at their properties, they remain dimmed. I used adobe bridge (cs4) and meta-data that application only works when you use it. I don't want to have to ramp bridge and sacrifice the memory just to perform a task which should be simple and accessible using my operating system.

any help is really very much appreciated.

Thank you very much in advance.

    -p.

AudioShell adds tabs for metadata to the properties of the file to many formats, including WMV and MP4.

As far as I know, there is nothing like this for AVI files, so you will need to use the external abcAVI for this. Note that AVI has very bad assumption, marking, so you're usually better with WMV or MP4.

    Hello

All you need is good Codec - get these if 32-bit.

-Free - CCCP also get free tool of insurgents

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

If 64-bit - can run WMP in 32 or 64 bit mode.

Or try these: download - SAVE - go to the place where your put them RIGHT CLICK – RUN AS ADMIN.

For 32-bit use these - OR the 32 bit ones listed above which I prefer.

K - Lite Codec Pack 6.2.0 (or newer)

    Use them for 64-bit:

    K - Lite Codec Pack 3.7.0 (64-bit) (or newer)
    http://www.codecguide.com/

    -------------------------------------------------------------
You know that you use WMP 32 or 64

  • Drive Windows Media (.wmv file) stored in the Temp folder

When I download a wmv file, I gives me the opportunity to open the file with Windows Media Player or save the file.  Lately, I've been open files in the player, assuming that, once they play, they are stored in my 'Temp' folder and empty when I delete the folder.  I was also unpin the link in the drop down WMP.  So it was quite a surprise when my hard drive available space began to decline at an alarming rate. When I went to my folder 'Users', it was 43GB and the single folder with any real content was music with 17 GB file. Do a search for wmv files have no results, so I can only assume that there are 26 GB of 'Phantom' wmv files take place, but without any specific place in the folder "users". Given that the "Users" folder is recreated at startup, I deleted all the content, the following prompts to keep files essential and lean record for its actual content to 17.5 GB.  Now I just save the file, manage downloads and delete the files when they are needed.  Is this standard protocol used for the Media Player or is it possible to change the settings of the player?  Thanks for the help.

First of all - the C:\Users folder should not be deleted like this - several functions of the operating system back up here and you will cause a corruption of just trying to delete it all like that.

Second - temporary storage of videos open depends on what browser you use. If you are using Internet Explorer, they are stored under C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache

    Chrome stores somewhere else.

To safely clean the files, use the built-in cleaning system program.  Press Windows + R to display the run box, type cleanmgr and click OK to start the cleaning Manager.
