Needing to consider replacing my Inspiron n4010

I am using a Dell Inspiron n4010 for the last 3 years (it was bought NEW) and after several months worth of intermittent 'white screens' I took in service today because I couldn't fget after the white screen at all for the last days of in4.

Diagnosed today with my very reputable computer repair shop is that the LCD is out and repairs or replacement will be of approximately $297.Whether to repair or replace will probably depend on the current cost of something similar. I want to start my search by looking at another comparable product of Dell and see where this research takes me.

I used my computer to send/receive email / write and store documents, pictures, photos, listen to music, watch and listen to videos and CDs and interact with friends and family via social media. I also used to store and run programs, I used my Bernina quilting sewing machine.

This aptop current models will be more similar to the Inspiron, including being comfortable to use, robust, comparable to the cost and to provide me with the same or better features than the Inspiron?

Hi Patcavgal,

Follow this link to the Inspiron page. Use the drop downs on this page to decide which operating system and the size of the screen you want. It will give you features and models available.

My friend brought me his Inspiron n4010 notebook help saying until a few months ago, he used to connect to the wifi with no problems. All of a sudden, it wouldn't show all wireless networks available no matter where she went - its wireless home network, work network and neighborhood of free wifi hotspots - none would connect. Similarly, I have tried with my home wireless network and my network wireless office without result. Connect LAN2 (for Boradcom virtual Wireless Adapter) this always as 'unplugged network Cable.

    6. I checked the Windows Mobility Center. Wireless 'tile' was where it should have, according to other messages I saw who were on this subject. Strangely, when I clicked on the button to launch under Dell - Radio control options, checkboxes Wi - Fi and Mobile Broadband have been unchecked and greyed out.

    7. I have reset the winsock catalog and restarted the computer via the elevated command prompt (Administrator)
    NET winsock reset catalog
    No change in status wireless.

    8. I disabled the Norton firewall and Windows and anti-virus to see if wireless was somehow blocked by them. No change in status wireless.

    9. I checked the Windows power plan settings to confirm that network cards did not have their power reduced. I put the adapter wireless for maximum while on battery and current performance alternative.

    10. I checked the Windows Event Viewer logs > Windows Logs > system:

I've seen repeated Scriptures error spread among the many dates of "BTHUSB (Blue Tooth adapter failed in an indeterminate way, will not be used.". The driver has been unloaded. "I saw no reference to what about wireless however.

    11. I tried to run Windows Update manually to see what, if any, driver updates it can find (using a network cable connection) and got the error 'cannot be updated because the Windows Update service is not started. I confirmed that he was released. I also manually stopped and restarted the service but continued to get the same error message. I kept the Windows Firewall and Norton Firewall (and antivirus) disabled in case they were interfereing with Windows Update, but no luck.

    12. I ran bad/ad/spyware scans with a portable version of Spybot and also a free version of SuperAntiSpyware, analyze the results showed several adware results, that have been deleted.

    13. I tried to manually configure the IP address, subnet mask and entered default gateway for IPv4 to the wireless adapter, which had been put on "obtain automatically", as it should. I also put the server DNS preferred my ISP (Comcast), then tried Google 8.8.8.8. This should have worked but the connection still showed as "cable disconnected" (why is a mistake to launch a "cable disconnected" wireless connection?)

    14. just for fun, I ran the update from the Intel driver from their site (via wired), who identified the available for graphics and Chipset updates - I've updated both, but it did not help (no surprise).

    15. I started Windows in Safe Mode with network - just as in normal mode, he showed the connection wireless as "cable disconnected".

I am open to any suggestions at this point. The laptop is out of warranty so prefer to avoid paid support, if in any way possible.

If you can get a hardware ID by activating / deactivating it on or turned off, it suggests itself wireless card is bad... Diagnostic tests could confirm this:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/F12-Preboot-Diagnostics/

You can look in the service manual to try and reinsert the card or replace it. His work a bit longer than necessary:

    http://FTP.Dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_inspiron_laptop/Inspiron-14r_service%20manual_en-us.PDF

An easier solution if you are uncomfortable with the material of the Assembly would be to buy a USB wireless adapter.

  • "Consider replacing your battery" - Satellite Pro C650

    Hello

I recently sent an email to [email protected] for trying to sort out a possible battery / battery reading problem on my Toshiba Satellite C650 I've owned for less than a year (is therefore covered by the guarantee).

Yesterday, I received a computer technical support number Toshiba follow-up call and asked to perform some tests to see if they would solve the problem:

    (1) check if the version of the BIOS was updated, which was (_BIOS version 2.00_) as confirmed by clicking F2 at startup upward.

    (2) uninstall the old version of the program "Toshiba Value added Package" and then go to the mytoshiba.com.au site, enter the laptop model/part number and _download the last value added paquet_, followed by a reboot.

I was provided with a number to call back with, where these tests does not solve the problem, however, I don't have a landline phone where I am and rely on call with a phone laptop (which is very expensive, especially when put on hold). I was expecting to receive some kind of help on these forums.

As the tests has not fixed the problem I meet, where should I go from here? *
    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

    Here are some of the finer details about the problem: {pasted from an email I sent to customer relationship}

"From what I can tell, the power adapter (charger) (works very well since it is able to charge the battery to the laptop comes with lithium-ion and the light on the front of the laptop orange indicates that the adapter is plugged and that he is in charge)." However, recently, whenever I unplugged the AC adapter, I got a notice when I clicked on the battery meter on the desktop icon. It is said: "consider replacing your battery. There is a problem with your battery, so your computer might turns off suddenly. "There is also a red x appears over the battery icon. Despite what the notification says, it seems that the problem can be more complex than that.

Today, I noticed that, despite the adapter sector not be plugged and gauge battery reading '0% ', the laptop has not stopped or put into hibernation - it remains functional. Other times, the battery meter will be warn me that there are few charges left and stops (sometimes only after 15 minutes). Before I received the notification 'Consider replacing your battery', the laptop battery would last at least 1½ hours without going through the AC is plugged. I also had this laptop for less than a year and took good care of the battery, allowing it to perform from time to time and then reload after. It makes little sense that the battery now 15 minutes or less.

As the battery meter was apparently to 0% and not stopped this evening, I think that the problem may have something to do with the method of control compatible ACPI Microsoft stack or at least the device that indicates the battery charge. According to my observations, it seems to be underestimating the percent of charge and so sometimes will stop prematurely, even if there is more charge remaining than expected.

I followed the Toshiba support (online) forums and other computer help forums and this problem of "battery reading" seems to be something of a number other users of portable computers have / is experience, especially when a user installs an operating system of Windows 7 on a laptop that was purchased with a preinstalled Windows XP operating system. I would like to point out that this laptop came with a preinstalled Windows 7 OS and I have not changed operating systems at any time.

I also read that with this problem, in some cases, users attempted to correct the notification "Consider replacing your battery" following the advice of notifications and buy a new battery mounted on their model mobile exact but apparently it has not resolved. »

    > I've also read that with this problem, in some cases, users have attempted to set the notification "Consider replacing your battery" following the advice of notifications and buy a new battery mounted on their model mobile exact but apparently it has not resolved. »

Well, in my opinion you should definitely try a new battery.
If all updates (BIOS, PPV, etc.) no did not help, then a new battery should be tested. Of course, it would be better to try it before you buy a new battery then maybe you need to get in touch with ASP in your country and have this clear in direct contact with the agent.

You said that the guarantee is valid, that's why it should be to fix the laptop for free. But you should consider that battery is covered by warranty one year long.

If both disks are part of a RAID 0 array, you can consider replacing both of them - they are both the same age and likely came from the same production batch, which means that it is very possible that the other player may not long to live, either.

    Hello

Yes, you can even power off the power and remove the battery and then use the computer with
no battery inside on alternating current.

Have you checked the troubleshooting that I posted earlier? Clean the battery terminals,
If possible and the other methods sometimes help to revive a weak battery. Of course
age of batteries with use and time, so the battery is lower than when new.

I hope this helps and happy holidays!

  • "Consider replacing your battery." on Win7-64

    Hello

I got my dv4-2049wm just this February 2010 and it came with a Windows 7 64-bit. I just noticed recently that my battery runs more faster than before and it displays "Consider replacing your battery" to the power in the system tray icon. Even just before the week of this post, I always have my battery works fine.

I tried Google and saw this command:

    powercfg-energy-output c:\energy-report.html

I tried and I saw that in some parts of the report:

    Battery: full last Charge (%)

The battery stored less than 40% of the capacity designed the last time that the battery is fully charged.

    Rated capacity 47520

    Full last Charge 13716

28 of the last charge (%)

I guess that 28% seems bad.

I think my battery is dying and I don't know how to fix it. I think that overheating could be one of the causes of my battery dying, probably because I often play games in High Performance mode.

Can someone help me on how to fix my battery? Could I still somehow relive my battery?

    Thanks in advance. :-)

No, it's a dead battery, you will need to get it changed... The laptop must be running roughly out of warranty... I would contact HP Tech Support check this option...

I am from Greece. If I go to the toshiba in Greece, I can find a cpu fan or any system cpu radiator? Can you help me?

Looks like the fan needs to be replaced and therefore, you should contact the closest service provider authorized in your country. Guys can order a replacement part and swap it out.
