Is it possible to adjust the speed / duplex settings for the NETWORK adapter on 4400g DMP? I am aware that the gigabit interfaces have no duplex settings but if the device is connected to a switch 100 device adjustable 100/Full?

I see not all parameters, nor I see no output from the MIB indicating the current settings. If it cannot be set is it supposed to be set to auto/auto?

    Hi Ryan,

Your assuption is correct. Speed/duplex are set to auto/auto on the DMP. This is not configurable by the user.

  • Incompatibility of speed/duplex on Tandberg EX90

    Hello

Hope you are doing well, I'm here today because I have a problem with our Tandberg based @ Zurich Switzerland.

When we connect to the web interface, we have a troubleshooting message: "speed/duplex of Missmatch.

I did the network speed auto, but it changes anything.

    Could you please help me?

Often the duplex mode is auto-négocié between the two pieces of equipment; However, auto-negotiation works only if both devices are set to 'Auto '. If a device is set to 'Auto' and the other has other settings, the device of auto adapts as 100/half. The most common cause of problems of incompatibility is the scenario where a device is set to 100/full and the other is set to Auto.

    • Check the configuration of the network switch where your TANDBERG end point is connected.
    • Change the settings of the device so that the devices at each end of a cable have to be the same speed/duplex (1000/Full, 100/Full, 100/half, 10/Full, 10/half) parameters or are both set to Auto.

  • VMnet1 and VMnet 8 - speed Duplex

OK, I'm just a boy ESX/vSphere normally, but I am tinkering with my computer.

So, you know how in the network, there is 'Host-Only' connected/appointed as VMnet1 and 'NAT' is connected/named VMnet8?

AND, they appear as a NETWORK interface card in Windows?

My question is, how can you change the speed/duplex of 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps?

100 mb/s seems rather slow and archaic.

It is a simple matter of aesthetic. Your PC communicates with your VM as soon he'll let her. Technically, you could say that there is a link to 10 GB.

    Hi all

I worked on this project for a while now. I did a lot of research and have contacted Dell several times. I need help.

I have 2 sets of identical to use for Hyper-V clusters servers. We bought a Dell MD3200i in November, we also bought a Dell 5424 switch and a Cisco SLM2048 switch. These servers have Real Tek 2 network cards for iSCSI Jumbo frames is 9 k

The Dell MD3200i is two SAN controllers. Dell 5424 is the iSCSI optimized switch and Cisco is a 48 switch ports. iSCSI is on its own network that nothing else is connected to it. (There is an Iomega NAS and a promise Vtrak SAN Tech with all current domain of execution with iSCSI controller)

Cisco switch has 1 VLAN n ° 1 on it and the 130 subnet inside elements. There are 8 connections to the switch. 4 controller 0 and 1 of each of the servers. It has an IP of 192.168.132.4, but that switch IP does not make difference. Lighted Jumbo frames

Dell switch has 2 of #1 for various things such as the domain controller, Vtrack, and SIN. Subnet 2 is 131 and has a total of 8 connectors inside. 4 in 1 controller and 1 from each of the servers. Lighted Jumbo frames. The switch IP address is 192.168.132.2

iSCSI tab click on add 8 MPIO sessions at each of the ports on the MD3200i from Dell, target. For example, I added 1 session of 192.168.130.101 using it. Add Session,--> activate--> Advanced Mutlipath--> Local--> IP 192.168.130.110 initiator and target 192.168.131.101 iSCSI adapter. This is repeated on all servers. 4 connections for each NIC.

The network is very slow. It revolved around 2 to 4 MB/MIN and it should be much faster. Initially, we had only the Cisco switch with only 1 VLAN and everything connected directly to it. I read somewhere that MPIO has been the problem, so I went through the same configuration but does not verify the MPIO checkbox above. Once this has been done, the network speed went up to 1.5 GB/Min but modular storage Dell was not happy, and virtual servers would fail and the connection is not very stable.

What wrong with my setup? Can I directly home and fix the servers directly to the PowerVault and will make stable and allow for failover and redundancy NIC? I need to get this stable so I can move with something else.

  • vSphere Home Lab: very slow network speed, I'm desperate

    Hello

After many trials that I have finally found the right hardware build my vsphere home laboratory.

    This is my setup:

    ESXi1

    ASUS P6T Deluxe V2

    I7 920

    24 GB OF DDR3 MEMORY

2 x Intel Pro 1000 GT Desktop Ethernet adapter

    2 ESXi

    i5-2500

    16 GB OF DDR3 MEMORY

1 x Intel Pro 1000 GT EthernetDesktop adapter

    NAS

    ASUS P7H55-M

    Intel Core i3-540

Windows Server 2008 R2 with Starwind iSCSI

    Realtek Gigabit Ethernet

I have a Netgear GS108 where I plugged all the ethernet cables over my ADSL Modem, a Linksys WAG320N

Everything is OK apart I have a speed very very slow in the network; for example ISO 2k8r2 server transfer I take 30 minutes

After many trials, I decided to start from scratch, I just powered on my ESXi2 machine and reinstalled ESXi 4.1U1 from scratch and I installed the Client vSphere for my Client PC which have a Gigabit Ethernet card and is also attached to the switch Gigabit however, speed is still the same, 2/3 MB / s.

The strange thing is that also the same speed very slow, I created a Server 2008 VM and installed iperf to landmark of network and I get about 600 / 700 Mbps, so I really don't know what I can do.

I replaced the ethernet cables, also tried to connect the cables directly to the modem and also I tried with another switch, but the result is always the same.

He is now a cable or switch problem because I tried to create an iSCSI drive and transferred a file of 10 GB of my Client PC to the iSCSI disk and I get about 120 MB/sec so is full Gigabit network speed.

Also, I installed FileZilla FTP Server on the ISCSI server and tried to download and upload a file of 10 GB and the speed is never 115 / 120 MB/s.

Really, I don't know what I do that, I'm really desperate.

Thank you very much for your help.

Routers are NOT created equal.  There is a business reason switches cost $10,000 - $20,0000 dollars.

Netgear router / switch is just a very BASIC.  It's not classy company.  That's your problem.  Get a better switch that you don't need to spend $10,000 but probably a few hundred... a GOOD show for home switch...

  • New to vmware - network speed help please

    Hi all

I recently joined and installed ESXi 5.1.0 Build 799733 on a box tailor-made purely to test many of our customers use it and I need to familiarize myself with it. Everythings went well except 1 perticular question so far. I have 2 vm Win Server 2008 on a test domain that work very well. However my pc if I rdp to one of the servers and start a copy of the file to say 4 GB RDP, its says its will take about 5 hours ago, transferring 1 mb/s all about surely is not fair?

The server and my pc are on ssd and a local network of 1 GB connection. Ive browsed the forums and found an article on sending disable unloading on the two network cards, which I did, but it remains the question of speed. Someone at - it any guidance please as its really frustrating. I rang vmware for support but was advised to try here before you buy a solution of their own.

Please remember I'm new on this and don't have much linux background. I hope someone here can help solve it please?

    ESXi Spec:

    1 x 250 GB SSD - running two VMS

    16GB DDR3 1666 mhz

    Intel Core i7 870 processor 2.93 mhz

Realtek 8168 Gigabit Ethernet - vSphere reports 10MB Full Duplex Auto negotiate (read online that this speed is not serious because it will be more efficient?)

    PC Spec:

    Windows 8

    1 x 250 GB SSD

    8 GB DDR3 1333 mhz

    AMD Phenom II x 6 1055 t.

Network Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller card

    The two Spec VM:

4 CPUS (2 virtual Sockets, 2 by heart)

    4 GB of Ram

E1000 network card (tried other types but without success)

    50GB partition C

    Thanks in advance

With a 1GBit switch port and a 1GBit "Auto/Auto" NIC (speed and Duplex auto-negotiation) is the recommended setting. If you get a lower speed, or one of the components (switch port, NIC, or network cable) has a problem or your NETWORK card is is simply not supported on ESXi, i.e. the required drivers are missing. In this case, you can get a NETWORK card, or at least one which is known as work.

  • How to enable hosted 150 Mbps network speed?

    Hi my name is cindy,

I use my cell phone as a wifi hotspot using an ad hoc network, but the speed is only 54 Mbps connectivity. I want to access all the connectivity of my computer laptop wifi n 150mbps is possible to do?

    Hello

The speed depends on the routers that you use. It may vary accordingly.

Consumer wireless routers vary in the range of Wi - Fi they support. Routers with the strongest signals Wi - Fi allow devices to connect at higher speeds further and stay in touch with greater reliability.

Antenna technology a wireless router determines generally the Wi - Fi signal strength and therefore its range. In General, routers wireless 802.11 g have better range of Wi - Fi than comparable 802. 11 b units due to the improved antennas.

Wi - Fi networking standards (including 802.11 g) require only that communication in ad-hoc mode supports 11 Mbps of bandwidth. You should expect that devices WiFi 54 Mbps or more in infrastructure mode, will fall to a maximum of 11 Mbps when changed in ad - hoc mode. Ad - hoc mode must generally be considered to be "much slower" infrastructure mode for this reason.

    Hope this information helps.

  • The evil network speed

    Hi all

I have two ESX, HOST A - B of the HOST, a gigabit of Pentecost on infrastructure gigabit network card.

Network cards in both armies are recognized in gigabit, but the speed of data transfer on HOST B is comparable to a 100Mbit. I changed the cables, ports on the brewing and the switch panel: no result. All physical cards should be the same speed (evil), but in the vSphere client are "certified" gigabit.

The virtual switches are configured exactly like those of the HOST

    Hello

Maybe you should check the physical switch interfaces connected to host B.

I would check if any errors and the amount of traffic through this interface.

    Best regards

    Pablo

  • The real network speed

I read 856 KB, who says that the actual speed of a vNIC is depends on card physical ESX/ESXi host NETWORK no matter what type of vNIC (e.g. AMD PCnet II) your uses.the 10 Mbps VM poster, but the actual speed is the same physical NIC.

If it is, why we have to select the right type of vNIC?

Yes, it would be the same as NIC. PHY

  • The network speed of the iSCSI to the SPs software

The speed of the network are the same of the NIC on the ESXi hosts through the switch to the storage? I have currently 1 GB NIC on ESXi hosts will the Nexus switches then 10 GB of the Nexus switches to the SPs VNX.

    Thanks in advance.

It doesn't have to be equal from end to end.  However, if it is not, of course you will be limited by the performance of the slowest links.

  • Networking of base - VM issue shows the wrong (?) network speed

I'm new on vSphere and I have a couple of servers set up to test vSphere before as I have spread.

I have a HP DL380 server with a HP network card dual port 10 GB.  This NETWORK is connected to a HP switch.  The switch is put in place for the 2 ports are associated.  If I start the server on windows 2008 it shows 20 GB in the team of the local connection state.

Started as 5.0 ESXi host I have NIC associate together as:

Load Balancing: route based on the hash of the IP

Network failover detection: State of the link only

    Notify paramedics switches: both Yes

Both NIC ports show under active cards (no standby adapters).

These NETWORK ports are used only for the standard vSwitch0 by default (no other VM only port groups defined).

On a virtual Win 2008 R2 computer (even for a 2003 R2 VM) of the local connection state shows 10 GB.  Should not show 20 GB?

I also noticed that if I save one of these virtual machines (via Veeamzip) and restoring to another server (Esxi 5.1 with an Intel 4 Gb team, same basic configuration done NIC port) it still shows 10 GB when 4 GB is the maximum available.  Should not show 4 GB?

With the VMXNET3 adapter and the VMware tools installed network comments connection will appear as a rising 10 GB, regardless of the speed of the physical card - it is a behavior expected and rather confusing at first, especially when you have only 1 GB.

The reason shows upward to 10 GB, because it's the speed that it is connected to the vSwitch and this would be the same in a scenario of physics - IE. the speed that you are connected to the switch to is the speed shown on the guest.

Sorry, but it's not really important that you use CAT5 or CAT6 wiring as the Ethernet on the AirPort Express ports are limited to 100 Mbps. You never reach 200 Mbit/s that your ISP provides to you. The AirPort Extreme, has on the other hand, all Ethernet 1 Gbps ports.
