New blackBerry for BlackBerry smartphones need a little advice on Wi - Fi

Hi all

I recently bought my first Smartphone BlackBerry, a Bold 9700 and so far really enjoy.

I however, have some teething problems with Wi - Fi that I hope you could help me on.

I have an active data BB Plan (I think that's what it's called) that allows BBM, internet E-mail etc.

I noticed that my wifi connection during the day is a case of "hit & miss". The night, no problems, solid connection.

The Orange Signal is very poor here where I live, so I looked forward to the use of the WiFi for UMA, Web mail, etc.

I was wondering if it is my router (Netgear RangeMax WNR1000), its parameters, the 9700 or my mobile operator (Orange UK)?

I've updated my 9700 to 5.0.0.86 device software 2 (Platform 5.1.0.175)

125 MB of space free application memory

My current router encryption is WPA and using the Legacy Mode (band G I think) at 54 Mbps.

Can anyone shed light on my intermittent WiFi during the day?

Thank you very much

UPDATE *.

Well, after scouring the internet and trying to get help from Netgear, my WiFi was still not usable through my Netgear WNR1000 and intermittent.

Enough was enough. Am in my car and drove to my nearest PC store. I bought a really cheap

Linksys WRT120N Home router (£30).

Got home, installed with the default configuration settings. Piece of cake.

Turned on the BB 9700 wifi... UMA logo and Wi - Fi appeared instantly and securely from the last 24 hours.

I got 100% UMA BlackBerry Internet signal and Wifi...!

Needless to say, I am now very happy that I can use this phone for its main purpose. The call of my home region that is not a 3 G/GPRS signal.

So for someone who suffers from the lack of WiFi, UMA or intermittent WiFi signal, I invite you to go and replace your router. I'm so happy I did.

With so many people have reported problems of WiFi connection, I hope that we can build a list of compatible routers that work with our dear BB.

Now, I am fully aware that some people say that Wi - Fi standards are the same, 802.11b/g/n, etc., but let me tell you that, on PAPER, they are SAME, how manufacturers interpret this standard and to implement in their products is a whole different kettle of fish.

Linksys, thank you.

I hope this helps...

    Thx for the help

Hello and welcome to the community!

You must uninstall all packages of BB device software from your PC. Then, install the exact OS that this BB is running on your PC:

    • KB23393 How to check the model number and the version of the BlackBerry device software on a BlackBerry smartphone

If this OS package comes from one carrier other carrier for which your BB was built, then remove, on your PC, all copies of the SELLER. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

Then, when you run the Desktop software then connect this BB, appropriate things should appear in the AppLoader screen for her (note that, if you connect that to other BB currently displayed correctly, it does display properly since the Desktop software is substituted by the installed PC, the package of BB OS).

    Good luck!

  • 9320 blackBerry smartphones needs help!

    Hi all!
I bought my first Blackberry Curve 9320 in May and I downloaded the latest software on July (version 7.1 2093), and I can't find any other version.

Now, when I try to connect my mobile on the market, he said to I need to download the latest version (even if I do it with my PC or WI - FI connection), and if I go to www.blackberry.com/appworld/support to download, it tells the of there an error (503, if I remember).

I also tried to download sent to my email address, but it does not in any case!
So the problem is that I can not connect my Blackberry to its low of PC market or even use from my mobile.

    Can someone help me?

Hello and welcome to the community!

    Please try this sequence:

    (1) to remove from your BB AppWorld

    • He asks to restart the BB,

    (2) a Batt Pull reboot (power on, remove the battery, wait, insert the battery, wait), even if redundant to the one you did in step 1.

    3) install a new copy of AppWorld (on your BB)

    (4) restart another Batt-sweater

    (5) see if it works now.

I have to sync with outlook for my contacts

I am running windows vista home

    my questions are so

    (1) I never got it to syn w my calendar outlook so I settled for the yahoo one - how can I fix?

    (2) on my computer, hm, I posted the pics to some contacts - when I sync they don't yield to my bb - how can I fix?

    Thank you very much

    Gloria

    Hello

I saw 5 or 6 posts on the same topic with no resolution. I guess I got lucky that I had no contacts photo until I had the BB and put them on it. They sync right upward with Outlook. I'm sure someone will have an answer for that, there are a lot of people REALLY smart here!

An iteration point, when I added the photo contact I managed to delete the photos on the card carrier and device memory. Apparently, it becomes part of the record. So you can save space when you get them. If you only have ten or twenty years, you can use windows to drag and drop the images on your press card. Once there, you call the image upwards in the media, press the menu key and select Add as a contact. You can then crop and then will contact you just have to click on the contact and you're done. In my view, that it took me about 30-45 minutes to set up mine.

It may be simpler to wait for a workaround solution.

    I hope this helps!

  • BlackBerry smartphones need help im a beginner

Hi people I just got my new blackberry bold9900, that I got this phone privatley and not through a service provider, im using only this on vodafone but I can't seem to get my personal hotmail account setup ask me password for activation? people are saying about bis? I have a package with vodafone 600mins unlimited texts and 500 MB of data but I have the sock of blackberry, I thought it's only if you want to use bbm and have a blackberry e-mail account? you have to pay extra for your staff from hotmail emails? I don't want to pay the 5 pounds in a month because I would not use the bbm and email I just want my "BOLD" in order to receive my hotmail email thanks in advance

You can only configure email on your 9900 accounts if you have BIS.  Let me explain further.

BIS, or BlackBerry Internet Service is a service provided by BlackBerry through your operator that allows the use of BlackBerry technology.  A feature of this technology is 'push' mail.  Once you have BIS on your account, your phone will set itself up so that emails from your Hotmail account will be 'pushed' on your phone.  This means that when the Hotmail server receives an email from your account, BIS will be send to your phone almost immediately.  If your phone does not detect BIS on your account, it does not allow you the option to set up your Hotmail account emails pushed in the.

However, don't worry if you don't want to spend the extra money for the BIS.  You can always connect to your Hotmail account on your phone to check the updates, but you will need to do this manually, your phone doesn't send emails automatically.

I hope this clears things up for you.  Please post back with any other questions you have.

  • Replacement of BB Phone new blackBerry Smartphones

I had some, but not a lot of Apps on my BB lost/stolen.  Can they be transferred to new BB but how?  Maybe it's too late or I activated my BB incorrectly.  Thanks Dave

    Hi Dave,.

Assuming that you bought your applications via App World, when you receive your new BlackBerry, you can just redownload the App World as long as you use the same ID BlackBerry to connect. Download again them, go to My World and then edit the list of applications to uninstalled. You will find then all your previously purchased/installed apps, available for redownload. If you bought them through a different service, like Mobihand, you will need to submit a request to change the PIN code, but once you do this, you can re-download them as well.

In addition, if you do not already made, make sure that you make your BlackBerry as lost/stolen Bell so that they can cancel the service, etc. from your old device.

    I hope this info helps!

  • Curve BlackBerry new blackBerry Smartphones 9380

Hello, I just got myself a new blackberry 9380, I put in place and put it on charge how long should I charge for the fourth time first to say different things by different people

You have even to load the first time, even if it's a good idea if the battery is close to death.

The Li - ion batteries are not as the old batteries of type or-Cad who need some charge the first time of use, they have no memory effect.

But anyway, it recharge and use it. You can load 100% and no more. So, never how long that takes...

Here's some good advice from loading, please read and you will see that many of them will be applicable to you.

Hi @Jenny7733! Welcome to the community of BlackBerry Support Forums!

You will need to perform an erasure of security on the device first before you can connect with a new BlackBerry ID credentials Please see: How to delete all data and applications from the smart phone BlackBerry with the optio security wipe...

Don't forget to make a backup because it will erase all your data. Good luck!

If maisl isn't here as stated above then you must erase your SMS database.

To clear the TEXT completely check following the steps:

    1. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer.
    2. Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
    3. Double-click on the backup and restore, and then click Advanced.
    4. In the list of device databases, select the appropriate database.  For your problem, select SMS.
    5. Click clear.
    6. In the warning window, click OK.

Don't forget to have if you erase your SMS as mentioned above, then all Messages will be lost and cannot be extracted unless you have a backup.
