New disk recovery is required for my Equium A100-338

Hi all

I've had my laptop for a good few years now and I need to use the recovery disc, the problem is that the disc is scratched to hell and Toshiba say I must pay £29.99 for a replacement disk, which is a little steep.

My question is Toshiba has a replacement policy of the disks scratched if it isn't that how all the drivers and pre-installed software back, I have no problem with the help of my parents vista install DVD that is available for 3 machines, but I want all software and stuff that is loaded on the recovery disk.

Any ideas on how I can do this

When you buy Toshiba laptop (old model), you will get a disk to restore DVD facilities.
If this disk is destroyed and cannot be used you can get a new one, but is not free.

So, you have the choice of ordering a new or install a clean operating system.
Recovery image recorded on recovery facilities disc contains following software:
-Operating system
-All drivers
-Utilities and specific tools Toshiba
-Some other software such as a DVD player or application antivirus (trial version)

In my opinion, you should install own OS. All the drivers, Toshiba tools and utilities that you can download from the Toshiba support page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

It is quite the same as on the recovery image. DVD player is not important, and you can download free very good VLC player. As an antivirus application I recommend Avira antivir.
If you have any other questions let us know.

    Hello

According to the description of the model of laptop, I suppose you have American portable model. I don't know how it works in the United States but, as much as I know, laptops computers Toshiba come with recovery CD/DVD facilities only.

In the past, Toshiba has delivered separate the CD with the drivers, tools and utilities, but no more. If you have this recovery installation CD/DVD it cannot be used to install drivers.
When you have written - it don't work at all what do you mean exactly?

    Hello

in his infinite wisdom of my former father-in-law Bill installed xp on my Toshiba Satellite P200 (PSPB6A-0CS04M).

I own Satellite P200D and I ve installed Win7 32 bit and must say this laptop works perfectly, so my advice to you is: forget the Vista and install Win7 32 bit.

All the drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on the download page of Toshiba - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

  • Equium A100-338 and memory twin

    Hello

I see that the satellite A100-338 has a chipset intel 945 GM, who, according to intel, supports dual channel memory. Is it so? Crucial to the site it says that it's not and there is no reference to this website of toshiba. Can someone give me a definitive answer?

    Thank you

    Tom.

    See this page:

    [Memory for Toshiba Equium A100-338 | http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=28155&ft=m&st=3]

There, you can find this info:
    Memory compatible type: * DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM

The laptop can certainly stand modules of DDR2 (dual channel)!

  • Equium A100-338 - do I have to buy a recovery disk?

    Hello

I have a bit of a dilemma. Vista on my Toshiba Equium A100-338 sticker is worn (was like that when I bought it). I upgraded my hard drive, installed Windows 7, then gave my old one (forget were the top recovery partition). I want to sell the laptop so back to its original State would be ideal.

Toshiba said that I have to buy a drive for recovery for 29.90, which is ridiculous. Can someone help me?

Details of the laptop: Toshiba Equium A100-338 PSAAQE-006008AV

    See you soon

    Hello!

If you want to return factory settings as in the first start of the laptop, you can buy a Toshiba Recovery disk. This disc contains a picture of the factory settings, and so you can install the laptop in minutes with all Toshiba drivers and tools.

But I put t understand why it is ridiculous for you. I mean normally get you on laptop Toshiba with Vista after the first start a message that you must burn the recovery disc yourself. It takes 10 minutes and you need only one or two DVD discs. I did it on my Toshiba laptop and I think you should take 10 minutes of your time to do this too.

However, nobody says you have to buy the drive because you can also use a disc of Microsoft and download Toshiba stuff on the Toshiba page but you need so much more time.

  • Where can I get spare for my Equium A100 keys?

    Dear all,
I hope someone can help. I have an Equium A100 - 338 laptop. I melted the left 'Shift' and left the keys 'Ctrl' (don't ask).
Where can I get replacement keys?
    Cheers in advance

    Jasonsaxo

The individual keys (plastic cover) can be pronounced.
I'm afraid you have to buy the new keyboard.

What you can do is to contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer and ask for help. Maybe they have a few old and used to the keyboard.
Talk with them, pay a coffee and maybe you'll get to replace it for free. ;)

  • Equium A100-338 - Missing recovery Toshiba in the menu Wizard

I have a Toshiba Equium A100-338 I need recovery to factory settings.
I know I have to press f8 and go to the Toshiba Recovery Wizard.

My problem is that this option is missing and has been replaced by 'Restore the whole Windows operating system'. When I click on this option, I get a generic message, saying that I have to restore from a restore CD.

My question is, is it possible to manually start the recovery in the command prompt? The wizard needs to run a program. All I have to do is find this program. I know that I have the recovery partition (I used Ubuntu to recover files of the user, and should it upward).

    Hello

Just a simple question: If you have problems to start the HARD drive recovery, why you n t use the Toshiba Recovery disk?

It can also restore settings from the factory with all the drivers and tools, so it of the same wait it erases the entire HARD disk.

  • Equium A100-338 has started to go very slow after using the recovery CD

I used the recovery CD after my Equium A100-338 has started to go very slow, it still seems slower than it used to be.
I haven't added anything to the computer from the CD recovery and verified the Manager tasks to see if I could spot anything suspicious.

Statistics say, use 18-22% CPU, but the physical memory is about 68% is this normal or should it be less?

Is there a list of standard processes I can check against mine to see if its doing something, it shouldn't be?

    Thank you

    Hello

I think you feel that unity is a bit slow due to the high amount of different processes that run in the context of the BONE.

The fact is that your laptop supports various features such as buttons FN, Toshiba control buttons, etc.
    All this has needs drivers.

In addition, as I m not wrong the Norton Internet Security has been installed on your system.
It s part of the image of Toshiba and this tool could affect the performance of the system.

I have used in the past, but now changed to another application that doesn t need a lot of material resources.

So if you want you can disable or delete some of the tools and utilities that are not important to you and could clean the system using a 3rd third party tool called CCleaner

    Hey Buddy,

where have you tried to download the drivers you need? I give now two links and you should find what you need.
About the hardware on your system, you take a linux live cd and when the system boots you can note that material has been discovered as soon as linux from the CD.

    Here are the links:

  • What is the best way to install XP on Vista Equium A100-338

I want to install XP on my Equium A100-338, who has already installed Vista. What is the best way to do it, I heard a lot of bad luck stories trying to do!
I do it only as a new software, with that I need to work only works on XP.

    Any help appreciated

    Thank you

    Hello

In my opinion, you must install the XP operating system on the second partition.
In this case, you can use the two BONES; Vista and XP.

Using these two s OS has many advantages. For example, you can always test the Vista and the new Microsoft features that are available in Vista and, in addition, you can use the XP if you need to run some programs and applications that are not fully compatible with Vista.

Then first ask how o create a second partition in Vista.
Well, this can be done in disk management. Right-click on the my computer drive management made right click on the disk to manage and modify the size of the partition.
Then the free space on the HARD drive can be activated, and you can create the new partition.

Then simply boot from Win XP and install it on the second free partition.
The Toshiba drivers needed should be downloaded from the Toshiba page.

    Good luck
