New hard drive, OS transfer?
I have a 2000 2b09wm hp. He just broke, gives me the error message saying in that I needed a new hard drive. Suppose the old went kaput (even though I bought this pc on eBay not a month or two before). So, I now have a new hard drive, but not bone. Is there anyway to recover my Windows 8 to fragmented hd, or do it also now should I pay for a whole new operating system? Thank you.
P.S. I have a SATA/USB cable that could eventually help in the transfer if possible.
Js.
You can order the Kit of recovery here.

HARD drive wasn't in my other computer. Put in a new HARD drive and transferred the bookmarks (FFox. (++ 16 on both), but do not remember how to transfer my saved passwords. Some people have helped me with this when I rebuilt this PC (the one that I use to send this info) and I remember most of the way and the method, but not well enough to attempt it without some guidance.
The other PC is a laptop ASUS G50VT - X 5.XP:
- C:\Documents and Settings\ < user > < profile > \Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\.
Vista/Windows 7:
- C:\Users\ < user > < profile > \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\.
Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ < profile >.
The "Application Data" in XP/Win2K folder and the folder "AppData" in Windows Vista and later versions of Windows 7 + are hidden folders.
For passwords, you must the signons.sqlite and signons3.txt file.

Windows 'Easy Transfer' to new hard drive?
I have a desktop computer Inspiron 530 with XP Pro and you need to install a new hard drive. My question is can I install the new hard drive in the empty under my old hard drive, plug it in and run Windows Easy Transfer directly from my old HDD to the new HDD? Then I could delete the old and move a normal nine until the slot C:\.Or, what I have to do it with an external media such as a USB device?Windows Easy Transfer can read files in Windows XP, but may not restore on Windows XP. And no, you can't run it on a disk that is installed, but not on Windows. Anyway, the answer is no.

Would appreciate help from the members of the Forum.
The drive on my Acer Z5610 is overheating and stop unexpectedly. I bought a new 1 TB WD HARD drive. I tried loading the Acer recovery CD 3 I initially created in order to load all applications touch etc, but received a message to say that I got at loading Windows. The computer came pre loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium, so I did not all Windows disks. My question is: How can I transfer Windows 7 on my new HARD drive so I can begin to rebuild the PC?
Hello
I think that you have created the driver & application backup, if this is the case & * if the old HDD is still detected & boots you could create a factroy restore discs, if not then you might even get to store.acer.com.

transfer the copy of windows xp on a new hard drive
My 6th sense tells me that my hard drive is about to fail. I want to clone this HARD and then replace it with the new clone HARD drive. Copying valid OEM xp (xp Home Edition, SP3) on my current HARD drive, failing will transfer without problems for the new HARD drive so that when I replaced the current HARD drive with the new and turn on the computer, it starts straight upward as usual? Thank you.
At the start of my hard drive makes strange noises, I used the program Norton Ghost 2003 disk cloning my XP Pro, SP3 hard disk. I used the switch of ib (boot image) when I did and when I started the cloned disk was not disabled. Windows found new hardware (the player) and after a little while that I should restart. I clicked the button to do it and everything was fine, then.
Note: I bought the retail version of the Ghost of Norton program. It is not a free software.

Many hard drive manufacturers provide an application of free software to do this. Visit the web site of the manufacturer of the new hard drive and maybe you'll find a. For example, Western Digital offers their free Acronis True Image WD Edition software for use with their hard drives Western Digital. Seagate offers their free Seagate DiscWizard for use with Seagate hard drives.

How to transfer windows on a new hard drive
How can I transfer all my system windows on a new hard drive
Hello
There are different ways to do
hard drive manufacturers will normally provide the cloning software to move your operating system installed from the old to the new hard disk
Search for information on this subject on their Web site
If you have vista business or ultimate, you can use the builtin vista complete PC Backup to move
read the information below
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial145.html
or if you have vista home version you'll need 3rd party software
link below is an example of this:
http://www.Acronis.com/homecomputing/products/TrueImage/index.html
also to put your machine how you bought, if you decide in different ways:
1. If vista is preinstalled, you should have a recovery on your old hard drive partition
You can recovery disks to reinstall on your new hard drive
ask the manufacturer of the machine how
2. contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it
they do it for a nominal cost of $
3. or borrow a microsoft dvd vista
Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer
they contain all versions of vista
This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed
Save all data, because it will be lost, do the above

The OEM of Windows 8.0/8.1 license is related to the motherboard and not the hard drive, so you can reuse the new hard disk provided his will in the same computer.
About the old drive you need not to worry about the formatting as the old disk can never be reused. If you want to be sure, you can physically break the old disk with a hammer before throwing.
Use Windows 8.1 media tool on another PC to prepare Windows 8.1 with updated installation media 1:

Win 7 | LR 5 CC: changes do not transfer when I copied my images on new hard drive
I am running windows 7 and Lightroom 5 CC. I recently added a new drive hard more to my desktop. I copied my photo folder to lightroom for the new hard drive, but the changes didn't transfer. I tried to revive with my latest backup with no Luke
So the same photo is on F and G, changes present on F, but not G.
I still think that synchronization of records was the problem.
However, in my view, there is a simple solution (well, simple is in the eye of the beholder, of course, maybe you don't think it's simple, but here goes)
Delete all photos of g. using Lightroom, remove them all of the catalogue and the hard drive. Of course, that assumes you have no need for anything whatsoever on G.
Go back to your operating system, copy photos from F to G, leaving the structure of the entire same folder on both drives. Are not "the attempt to put things away upwards after the copy. Does not synchronize. Do not import anything. Everything simply old COPY from F to G.
Return to Lightroom, and right click on the folder my Lightroom on F Photos, select the location of the update folder, point to my Lightroom Photos on g. done! More information in Adobe Lightroom - find folders and files moved or missing scroll down to the section called "update folder location".
