New HP Pavilion freezes to the BIOS

Hello

my new Pavilion P6-2053de (core-i7 with UEFI BIOS) freezes at startup.

It does not start at all. After the first saying blue screen "press ESC for boot menu", it does not continue

If not by pressing any key.

Pressing ESC soon going to a second screen - but no start menu freezes.

Pressing F10 will soon also to a second screen - but no BIOS config, that freezes.

I wonder how it could be that enter the BIOS is locked completely?

How can I reset my system and the BIOS so that it can start and get into the BIOS?

I tried to remove the HARD drive but no change.

Thank you

Ralf

Hi old_geekster,

Thank you very much for your answer! Now I know that the type of my motherboard, but I had no success, still the same

behavior.

Strange is that both blue jumpers are placed differently in default mode on my Board compared to the specification. My jumpers are placed at 1-3 and 2-4 and not 1-2 and 3-4 in default mode!  It's strange.  Have the located at the position indicated in the specifications to see what is happening.  I don't think it will hurt anything and it could well be the problem solver.

There is an another slider pin with 7 pins on the main Board saying BIOS_RECOVERY. There is no rider placed on these pins. How can it be used?  I am sorry to say that I don't know how to use it.  If there is no rider, it probably isn't a function for your motherboard.  HP uses the same mobos for different models.

Any other ideas?  See my above response to your first question.

Thanks in advance!

  • Satellite P300-h-13: stops, restarts itself and then freezes in the BIOS

    Hello

    I have a laptop TOSHIBA SATELITE P300-h-13.
When I turn it on, it starts before blocking immediately down and then it restarts itself (twice).

Then it freezes in THOSHIBA default start screen.
I can't access BIOS (says it charges but nothing happens).

If I press the ESC key, I got a screen saying that the processor is detected and it gives me the ability to L2 cache, it says the RAM passed and then it indicates that the Bios system & video are overshadowed.

I tried without the battery, but it doesn't change anything.

Please help me solve this problem on.
    Thank you!

    Hello

I don't know why this is happening and it's really strange question that should not happen on the new laptop.
In such situations, you can simply try standard measures and see if it will work properly again.

By the way: how old is your laptop? Have you noticed this behavior from the first day?

In any case, try to enter in the BIOS somehow and set it to default settings. try to enter Advanced boot options using F8 at the start and check if the installation of operating system work (during the first backup of data, if possible).

If nothing helps I would recommend not to do anything, but contact the nearest authorized service provider. Let them check your laptop computer and, if necessary, repair. Warranty will cover all costs.

    Motherboard model: Quanta 30CF

Motherboard Chipset: nVidia nForce 630M (C67)

    BIOS: Phoenix HP, 23/07/2007, F.06

Had this laptop for free because he was constantly overheating and blue screening and the keyboard didn't work. Bought the new keyboard and fixed overheating by a cleaning in depth and the new thermal paste to the heat sink. Then, I decided to update as much as I can and use it to make music.

The BIOS are very old, F.06. I was told that I should update the BIOS, because the most recent BIOS also included fixes for overheating, among other things. Unfortunately, I was told also that you need the operating system is Vista or BIOS update program "brick" laptop.

I got what I thought, it was the ingenious idea to use my old hard drive, install Vista on it (came to me with Win7 too), update the BIOS, and then replace the new HDD with Win7 in. Trying to install Vista on my old hard drive, the installation routine says impossible to find the hard drive, and I need to install drivers to "see" the hard drive.

I don't know exactly what I need. I tried several AMD AHCI drivers, but I have not found the good, or I need somethng totally different AMD AHCI drivers.

I guess I have two questions.

    1. is it possible to update of the BIOS under Win7, without having to try to do it on another hard drive with Vista?

    2. If Vista will be used, what exactly I need / have to do to get Vista to recognize my original hard drive?

(Hard drive model D'origina listed at the beginning of post)

I want to emphasize that although I have not used the laptop much since I upgraded the CPU, everything seems to work well. I'm just worried that I may have still some problems of overheating, especially since the most recent processor can generate a little more heat than the original (35 watts instead of 31 watts).

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Kind regards

    Bill

    Ok. I'm done.

The hard drive was not recognized because I did something stupid. When I got the new drive and put the old man back, I forgot to transfer adapter plastic little new hard drive to the former. The pins on the old drive never made contact when I put it back in the system.

Once I realized my mistake, I could format the old drive, put Vista on it, Flash the BIOS to the most recent/last version and then replace the old drive to the new drive with Win7-64 on it. Piece of cake.

Now, I did almost everything possible to restore and modernize this computer:

    • Faster CPU support
    • Max RAM
    • Battery high capacity
    • New, 1 TB hard drive (with the pin adapter back on!)
    • Replaced the optical drive non-working
    • Replace the non-functional keyboard
    • BIOS flashed
    • Replace hard drive broken plastic cover
    • Replaced the knob cracked and melted
    • Win7-64
    • Clean the vents, fan, radiator, new thermal paste

Everything seems to work OK so far. Let's see if the overheating problem that caused my ex-wife (the killer of computer) to throw this laptop comes back, or if it is fixed for good. Thanks to those who replied with their answers to help me.

  • HP Pavilion ze4936ea: update the BIOS.

    I have a HP Pavilion ze4936ea (PN624EA #ABU) is all about 2005.
The BIOS revision was F.15 and I downloaded sp31140.exe to e.16.
    I don't have what I had when I upgraded to e.16.

I tried to update the BIOS because it indicates by error that there is a floppy drive or a USB Flash drive at startup. But it is not a Floppy drive in the ze4936ea and I had a program on USB I tried to start from! The program BIOS F.15 erred. As well as the program e.16 BIOS, which also indicates a floppy drive, but no USB Flash drive in the laptop.

    What's not here?
Can I get a BIOS program that allows me to boot from a USB Flash drive?

The system BIOS has not the ability to boot through USB devices. I suggest that you create a bootable CD with the utility you have on the USB flash drive.  Here is a link that allows you to create a startup disk:

You will only have the four boot options following for your system:

  • Pavilion p7-1040nl: the BIOS update gone wrong; PC does not start.

Hi, I tried to update my BIOS yesterday, but in the middle of doing so, there was a short cut (what are the chances right?). If the update is not good. And now my pc won't start at all. At the beginning until you get 8 beeps, the hard drive of fans, etc. seem to start, but there is NO video signal and the pc does not continue to start. So I can't even in the BIOS menu, because the monitor remains in sleepmode.
I tried all the fixes I have found here and on other sites without success. Do you have the cmos pass the thing, disconnected all the pieces one by one, tried to boot with the USB with the BIOS on this subject, but still nothing.
Does anyone know what anyone else I can try? Or should I accept that my pc is over?

    Any suggestion is appreciated.

Have you tried clearing the COMS as in the instaructions on the document next to the motherboard web?

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02668523

I recommend to remove the CMOS battery while the cmos clear. Hold the power button for five seconds while the rider is on the position unequivocally @.

If it does not, then it's time for a new source desktop PC.

    Hi there @MarcoFast

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that you are looking for help that your system does not start successfully after the upgrade to Windows 10. I'm happy to help you.

I realize that you may have about the reset of the BIOS, but I think you should try to work first of all through the process on this page. HP - computer desktop PC won't start not (Windows 10.8)

Then if you still have questions, I would recommend you restore your previous operating system, a feature that allows 10 Windows when you install an upgrade; You can restore 29 days.

Restoration of Windows 10 in your previous version of Windows - www.thewindowsclub.com

I wouldn't do anything with the BIOS until you are in your previous operating system, assuming that this is necessary at all.  Here is the rollback of the desktop computer BIOS method: PC desktop HP - BIOS recovery

  • Satellite L450D PSLY5E freeze during the BIOS update - now does not turn on

    Hi guys,.

I have a Satellite L450D. I recently tried (unfortunately) update the BIOS after a clean installation, because the FN key no longer working to bring up the toolbar.

Winphlash program froze near the end and the system remained frozen for a good half-hour. The only way out was to remove the battery (as I know in any case).

Now, the system will light with battery in or out and plugged in. I guess I've damaged the hard drive or the card mother or something.

Is it possible to fix? Or is it?

Thank you very much for your help.

BTW - I know now not to update the BIOS unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary and well advised.

    > I guess I've damaged the hard drive or the card mother or something.

The disk HARD isn t damage but the Rom module where the BIOS is stored was not flashed properly.
I guess that this happened because the flash procedure was interrupted.

I'm not sure if this can be fixed perhaps the service guy could flash the ROM module with special disc of crisis of the BIOS.

    I keep fingers crossed

  • Pavilion: After updating the BIOS I am unable to connect to Ubuntu

    Hi all

Last night, I upgraded my BIOS setting. After that, I am unable to connect to Ubuntu, i.e. He showed the password is incorrect (connect infinite loop).

Even I tried to connect grub too but that one also request username, password.

It would be great for your assistance. Thanks in advance.

I bought my Lappy with 8.1 Windows only. Later, I used Dual-Boot.

Come to my request "I have already clearly mentitioned in the subject.

    Solution to my problem is simple, as I learn it from Google for example "I have change the password to sudo linux via the Recovery Mode I mean by mount - o remount rw / and passwd {pasword}

Finally, come to your question "had the computer top Ubuntu when you bought it? Otherwise I don't know how you can expect the support of HP. »

Rep. : I bought Hp, but this does not mean that I can only use Windows. And at the same time how parameter substituted my Ubuntu BIOS password"file"without my permission. If they provide an average of update of the BIOS it should & must maintain the integrity of the user (its not supposed to replace the Ubuntu password setting).

I hope that you have disabled your boyfriend of doubts.

  • HP Pavilion dv7-6004ea: new SSD not recognized in the BIOS

Hi I have a want dv7 and is currently using a 700 GB drive HARD However im upgrading to an SSD

I bought a Sandisc SSD PLUS 120 GB, I cloned the HDD to the SSD, I see partitions

in windows Explorer when im running HDD, but when I try to boot from SSD I get an error

error code (3F2) I ran diagnosis but no result without error of ideas? Thank you

If you use the Apricorn software and a usb cable to SATA it should work.

I did it several times without problem, except when I got an SSD that was a problem.

Replace the original hard drive in the notebook.

Download the latest version of the firmware from the manufacturer to the SSD and install it.

Once you have done this, try cloning of the OS for the SSD, reinstall it in Notepad and start on the SSD.
