Recovery of the laptop

Hi, I have Hp pavilion dv6 7043 cl... When I buy, I make recovery disks (5 total)... After a few days, I came my notebook hard drive... I buy a new hard drive... Now, I want to put my original on this hard drive backup... I tried many thing F9, F10 but system doesnot pick these disks as a recovery... Please help me. How can I restore my original data (windows, etc.) on my new hard drive

Please see "Perform a recovery of the system (Windows 7) HP" for instructions on starting the recovery process. Given that you have installed a new hard drive, or "Windows 7 recovery", or the sections "Recovering from the start (at the system startup) screen" will work and you must use the instructions of "recovery discs recovery."

(1) turn on the computer, open the DVD player, insert the recovery disk #1, close the DVD drive and turn on the computer.

(2) turn on the computer and immediately start typing the "ESC" key or the "F9". If you used the "ESC" key, you now press "F9" to the start menu.

(3) on the "Boot Menu", choose to boot from the internal DVD player. Press a key when you are prompted, to boot from the recovery disc.

(4) follow all prompts or instructions provided by the reocvery software. You can jump to perform a backup, your hard drive is new.

Original title: after recovery on my computer dell laptop running Windows XP

I have a laptop Dell circa 2004 with windows XP Professional on it. I contacted a bug of some kind and it was very slow and the fan even stopped working. My only choice was to use the disk installation and F8 to recover the laptop. After that I got all going again once I tried to set up a new connection and it doesn't seem to know that I have a wireless adapter or the ability to connect wirelessly. Any body can help me to understand why it does this?

    Hi Phillacio,

In addition to the procedure step by step proposed by Shenan Stanley, you can download the network drivers from the website of Dell support on another computer, bring to this laptop computer using a flash drive and install them first.

Then follow all the steps above one by one, and your laptop should work great.

Response with the State of the question and we say if it worked or not.

  • Recovery of the laptop is not

I recently had a problem with my HP ENVY 15 TS and use the support chat in the HP Support Assistant, I was advised to do a system restore.

This did not succeed, and I am now stuck in a loop!

No idea how I get in touch with the agent who dealt with me?

So I opted to try the factory reset first rather than buying things... that solved my problem and I am now back up and running and restore my data!

  • Strategies for the recovery of a laptop once it is stolen

    Hi all.

I don't know what software / services already exist with regard to the recovery of a stolen laptop. But I know that the consequences of a loss. If someday it happens I want to know what I could do to get this back.

I am aware of some online services that exist to give monitoring info, but they charge an annual high, I think that I didn't need to pay. Laptops are all over the internet. So it is a freeware that I can move permanently to transmit tracking information once that this laptop stolen is connected to the internet? For example, tracking information can be sent directly to another computer, as my desktop computer at home? This information can then be passed to the application of the law.

Perhaps there are other much better more intelligent methods, which I hope could share generous people. This will serve to avoid computer / laptop computer theft. What Toshiba himself in any software? For example, Samsung mobile phones are now built with stolen phones text alerts. If this idea can be or is it incorporated into laptops?

    Please answer.

    Hello

In my view, it is not so easy to find the stolen laptop. AFAIK, the laptop can be tracked by MAC address (a unique identifier assigned to most network adapters or cards (NIC) network interface when you are connected to the Internet. But there are a lot of software, those can hide the real MAC address with a trick.

I think the best solution is to be attentive and not allowing it to fly.

Please answer

Looks like you used the Win10 GoBack feature infamous attempt to restore your PC updated Win10 to a previous version of the OS, right?

If this is the case then, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but, unfortunately, the Win10 GoBack function is known to be unreliable, and when it fails it can leave machinery in a State corrupted - that seems to be what has happened to yours.

The Win10 upgrade is known, in some cases, corrupt the partition of recovery that are stored by the OEM that built the original machine.  It's pretty much guarantee that no HP recovery will work.

While you MIGHT be able to reinstall and reactivate using a downloaded MS Win8.1, you won't be able to recreate the partition recovery as requiring a compressed image of HP OEM of Win8.1, which you can not create or get.

What will work restores your computer to its original factory state using HP recovery media.  It is a DVD and CD set that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, applications and settings, reinstall the original OS, drivers and utilities for HP. In some cases, you will be able to order a USB instead of discs.  You must order at HP; they cannot be downloaded.

You can look online for recovery from the paged media related: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Once there, enter your product name or number. On your software page and download the drivers, select your operating system and version. Click on "Update".  If the HP recovery support is available for your computer, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for the command Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click on the symbol '+' to expand this entty and click on order to press for more details.

Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

Note that if HP no longer provides a recovery media for your model, a few other sites, you can check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/

Don't forget to read through the material in the linked thread before attempting the recovery: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00707939

    Hi @Phoenix-1921,.

Welcome to the HP Forums! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

Thank you for posting. I read your post and I understand that when you create the recovery media, it stopped and gave you the message of the one copy can be made. I wanted to help with that.

Due to licensing restrictions, you can create one HP a computer recovery solution. This message appears when the recovery media has already been created. If you bought a previously used computer or store but the computer was already open, then recovery media has probably been created before you bought the computer and this message is normal. If the computer is less than a few years, then you will probably be able to get a HP recovery solution. There might be a fee according to the status of the security of the computer, the country / region the computer was purchased, and the condition that generated the message. For more information, see looking for USB HP recovery disc or HP recovery discs?

  • Advice needed on the laptop hard drive data recovery.

    Hello

I was wondering if someone could provide some advice on the recovery of data from an ACER laptop which was held in Microsoft Vista?

The laptop broke due to the 'PIN' inside the power supply's cable breaking. PC World said that it would cost hundreds of pounds to repair.

I have some important files saved on the drive hard (backup files conveniently failed too!) and I'd like back them.

What are my options? Should I seek professional IT useful to do? Or I can try to get files back myself? I currently have a Toshiba laptop that works under XP.

    Hello Chris,

I by removing the hard drive and put it in a USB enclosure. There are 2 types of one HD is IDE the other is SATA. You can buy one from Newegg.com for less than $ 15. You may need to take possession of the disc and its files if you do this. Here are the steps: to take ownership of a file or a folder how to appropriate a file you must have owner of a protected file to access. If another user has restricted access and you are the computer administrator, you can access the file to appropriate.

To take ownership of a file, follow these steps:

    1. Right click on the file that you want to take control and then click Properties.
    2. Click on the Security tab, and then click OK in the security message (if one appears).
    3. Click Advanced, and then click the owner tab.
    4. In the name list, click administrator, or click the Administrators group, and then click OK.
The administrator or the Administrators group now owns the file.

To change the permissions on the file that you now own, follow these steps:

    1. Click on Add.
    2. In the list enter the object names to select (examples) , type the user or group account that you want to have access to the file. For example, type administrator.
    3. Click OK.
    4. In the group or user names list, click the account you want, and then select the check boxes of the permissions you want to assign to this user.
    5. When you're done to assign permissions, click OK.
    6. You can now access the file.

How to capture a record you must have ownership of a protected folder to access. If another user has restricted access and you are the computer administrator, you can access the folder by taking possession.

To take ownership of a folder, follow these steps:

    1. Right click on the folder that you want to take control and then click Properties.
    2. Click on the Security tab, and then click OK in the security message (if one appears).
    3. Click Advanced, and then click the owner tab.
    4. In the name list, click your user name, click administrator if you are logged in as administrator, or click the Administrators group. If you want to take ownership of the contents of the folder, select the check box Replace owner of subcontainers and objects .
    5. Click OKand then click Yes when you receive the following message is displayed:
You are not allowed to read the contents of directory folder name. Do you want to replace the the directory permissions with permissions granting you full control?

All permissions will be replaced if you click Yes. Note folder_name is the name of the folder you want to take charge.

    6. Click OK, and then reapply the permissions and security settings that you want for the folder and its contents.

Let us know whether, if that helps you. Make it a great day!

  • laptop past in an endless loop of starting after the recovery of the PC

I have a laptop of DV2109NR who was riddled with viruses. It was suggested that to make a recovery of the PC hard disk. The first attempt was made without reformatting. After 10 hours, the recovery said that completing. After you click OK, the machine went to the screen of Microsoft XP, then a black screen, then the HP invent screen with options press ESC to change the order of starting, and F10 to access the configuration. This scenario keeps repeating. The computer ran for hours and nothing happened. I then did an other PC Recovery do a reformat of the HARD drive and I am still affected by the same systems. I went in the diagnoses and tested the HARD drive and got an error message 'test status #1-04 Fail', which I understand is a bad drive. The drive was working fine before the recovery of the PC.

I also tried emergency boot CD disk, change the boot order, but nothing happens.

Can someone me in the right direction / I hope I did it correctly guide as this is my first time posting. Thank you

If the HDD was beginning of failure, probably the stress of 'charges from virus' and make the recovery pushed over the limit. A new hard drive should be relatively inexpensive and easy to replace. Hope you had a defined recovery disk.
