New photos!
Despite previously enjoying an excellent support I've seemed to have hit the buffers with how Apple handles Photos.
I have an iMac, an iPad (+ Mini) and an iPhone SE.
According to my iMac when I open the Photos app and select window-> Info I see that there are 1211 photos taking 1.98 GB of space. No doubt this 1.98 GB is space on the hard disk from the iMac?
Now when I plug my iPad on the iMac, open iTunes and check the summary at the bottom of the display panel, I see that there is 1349 photos taking up 4.12 GB of space (see http://bit.ly/25vUkSz). It probably is 4.12 GB of space on the internal memory of the iPad?
However, when the iPad is not connected to the iMac via iTunes and I go to the iPad and select settings-> iCloud-> storage-> Manage storage-> iCloud pictures library shows is that I 'have 1 211 pictures a 0 videos stored in iCloud.» "Use your photos and videos 1.9 GB"
With the help of 1.9 GB of space where the iPad?
Now the iPhone.
Connect the iPhone to the iMac under summary, I see that the iPhone has 1384 photos and using 3.08 GB of space (see http://bit.ly/1qX2Uqm)
But on the iPhone is going to settings-> iCloud-> storage-> Manage Storage-> iCloud photo library shows that I have "[I] have 1 213 pictures a 0 videos stored in iCloud.» Use your photos and videos 1.9 GB "[I] new 1.9 GB of space where the iPhone?"
What confuses me, is why was there such a difference between iTunes and the real devices as to which is the figure of current storage and which one is correct?
I tried to understand different documents related to iCloud/Photos Apple Support but can't see where this issue is addressed?
Clearly I am doing something wrong but just can't see where or why.

Apple TV, you see only not my new photo library
I have Apple TV and 2 Macs that use home sharing to display pictures of selected iPhoto library. It has worked well for years, through several generations of ATV (including this, the latest). Today, on a Mac, I've converted a library of photos from iPhoto in Photos. In fact, I have 2 libraries - one of which is a 'starter' library created last week, put up with all my keywords and the structures of startup (to clone for new photo projects) records - he has 11 photos. The second Photo library (which is the most recently accessed Library / edition) has 900 + photos, created today.
I am running the latest version of iTunes, under El captain.
When I get home sharing in iTunes...
.. .to select photos to share, the default value presented is for 'Photos' (Yes, I don't know iPhoto its more long!) - BUT it's the 11-photo 'starter' library, like this:
When I use the drop down menu to choose a different folder (the library populated), I choose the file, but it shows 0 photos, like this:
What should I do to get the iTunes to recognize my populated library? (I quit and restarted iTunes - I also stop and restart the Mac.)
I'm tempted to remove the Starter 11-photo Library, so that there is only a single library on the Mac... but I hate the idea that is the solution for iTunes and the Photos app talk to each other. With iPhotos, I had literally dozens of libraries and constantly under tension between them. I wouldn't think that the ability is lost with Photos.
Thank you!
Ah, ha - think I found the answer. In the preferences of Photos, there is a "button to specify a particular library as the library of the"System. " My Library recently populated did not have this set:
I set its State to "on":
and iTunes now sees this library instead of the ' starter when sharing with "Photos".
The option "Chose the folder" doesn't seem to do anything useful, so it seems that it is the new way to do this when the Photos app is used for photos of the ATV.

Photos from iphoto imported disc ext new imac then lost new photos and photos app
Imported photos iphoto to ext drive to the new imac then lost new photos that were stored in the new «Photos for Mac»
All those Iphoto original is in my new mac now, but still using the format "iphoto". ... Found the most recent that I had stored in the new format 'Photos for Mac' in icloud but can no longer run the new format or retrieve photos from icloud on the imac? I'm confused... I obviously missed a few steps. Be nice... I'm old!
iPhoto Photos are two different applications and they use different libraries.
So I understand you correctly: you have applications and different photos in two libraries?
Missing also photographs?

My camera is renumbering pictures from 0001, but a new camera case. If I import new photos in iPhoto, they replace the old photos with the same numbers? The camera knows that they are in a different folder, but what happens when I import into iPhoto?
iPHoto manages very well duplicate file names - each import is in another folder in the database - no problem

New photos app messages images for false Facebook account
When you use the new photos app to share your photos on Facebook, groups that appear belong to my daughter's account, and the photos are indeed posted on her account. She used my computer to check email and Facebook, but the connection active Facebook to my account seems OK.
Go to the control panel preferences system/Internet accounts and delete Facebook account. Restart and add your Facebook account as a new account. You should get the right FB account online.

New photos show in Photos app, but not in the Finder
Hello.
I see the problem when I try to upload new photos to a website (Wordpress, for example).
I take a picture with my iPhone and using photo stream it will to the cloud and syncs quickly to the photo app on my mac. I see the new photo in Photos and can work with it, edit and export if I want to.
But, when I opened a dialoge "Upload" to Safari, I don't see the new picture available to download. It takes a long time for the new available through Finder photo / Upload dialoge.
I'm guessing this has to do with the fact that the Photos app maintains an internal state of pictures with respect to the Finder, or only periodically to update the index available to the Finder, but I don't know.
I do not want to export each photo I take pictures and download, it
My question, how can I speed up this process so I don't have to wait for hours at a time to download new pictures taken by my iPhone.
Well Yes, this has bugged me too for a while now. When you use Google Inbox, I need to drag or save photos on the desktop, then point at them through Chrome, then after sending my email don't forget to delete the pictures on my desk. Very, very boring because it is so vital to my job every day.
I hope this will be fixed soon!

I was using iCloud library until I received a message that my storage was almost full on my iPhone and I could take is more new photos or video. I wanted to delete the pictures and videos from my phone to free up storage space, but it is difficult or not delete my files on my phone would also result in their be removed from the library thus iCloud. So I decided to disable iCloud photo library and uploaded to my iMac (as I was given 20 days to do so).
I was under the impression that my local library of Photos on my iMac would always remain in tact and updated independently of the library to iCloud. Isn't this true?
All help on this subject never mention 'Download' and 'Download' to and from iCloud, but there is nothing that confirms my library local photos remain in tact and current. Someone can it confirm please?

It is provided that you activate the photo stream instead.
but it is become difficult or not delete my files on my phone would also cause their be removed from the library thus iCloud.
With iCloud library enabled, you cannot delete a photo on a device (or iCloud.com) without deleting each device which uses iCloud photo library (iCloud.com). In order to save space on your mobile devices (and indeed your Mac if you want to) turn on the optimization of the pictures on these devices (settings > photos & camera > optimize storage on your mobile device and Photo preferences > optimize storage on your Mac)
Dynamic optimization, it reduces the resolution of your photos, if necessary, so that you don't notice it occurring initially. However, when necessary, it is very effective, and users have reported libraries being optimized for much less than 10% of their original size in some cases. My own library is about 9% of its original on my phone size.

Hello
New photos taken since September 2015 are not displayed in the Photos, photo folder.
They are in the folder "Pictures".
Any suggestions.
I got 7900 + photos
Cheers for any help
If Photos are posted 'All the Photos', but not in your library where you expect, select one of the photos of 'All the Photos' and ctrl + click. Thenuse "Show at the time" to reveal in the library. The photos are there, but poorly sorted? If this is not the case, make a backup and repair your photo library.
See this help page: repair your library - help Photos
Fix your library
If you are having problems with pictures in a library, Photos can try to fix it. If the problem persists, you can also restore your library from a Time Machine backup.
Important: You must back up your library before repair of your library.
- If the photo is open, choose Photos > Photos of quit smoking.
- Press Option-command and double-click on the Photos icon in the Applications folder (or click the Photos icon in the Dock). The library of repair window opens.
- Click on fix to rebuild your library.
For more information on the restoration of the photos in your library to iCloud, see access your photos and videos anywhere with iCloud photo library.

Whenever I open my Macbook Pro, it starts to keep download all my new Photos imported even are repeated in the photography workflow, Raw files, I won't upload the photo stream, I just download new Photos and never import them to the photo stream.
Photos for Mac 1.3
OS X El Capitan 10.11.3
MacBook Pro 13 inch, late 2011
2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 processor
16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory
Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB graphics
It is not possible on Photos for Mac that allows you to disable the download in my Photo stream selectively, if you want to use my photo stream to download from your mobile devices.
The only way to stop the download for my photo stream is to disable my stream of photos completely, if you want to download and import new photos using a USB connection.

how get the iPhoto in new Photos app library?
While the installation of El Capitan, iPhoto has been uninstalled and I find no more photos, I had (thousands of them) in the new Photos app. How can I recover the previous iPhoto library into the new application Photos? Right now I feel I've lost memories for many years.
Thank you.
1 - iPhoto has not been uninstalled by the upgrade to El Captain - it is always in your applications folder and works fine (you do not have the current version 9.6.1 - if you do not keep your software up to see date cannot update iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store )
2 - the first time you launch Photos it should migrate the last iPhoto library used in the pictures - if it is not, or if you want to migrate additional libraries simply do them dragging the Photos icon in the dock - migration details, see How Photos handles content and metadata for iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

I can ONLY import new photos from my iPhone to MacBook Pro?
On a regular basis, old photos are re-imported from my I Phone in my MacBook Pro - and it does not matter if I check the box only to import new photos. It takes forever to import one or two new photos. For this reason, my library is out of chronological order. How can I eliminate import the same pictures over and over again?
Have you tried to use Image Capture to select and import only those new pictures?

I need help to the new photo of my photos from iphoto on El Capitan. Any help would be appreciated.
To migrate your iPhoto library to Photos for Mac, drag it in the Photos icon in the Dock. Photos will read the iPhoto library and create a new library of pictures of him.

How to resize photos for export in the new photo software?
When exporting photos to use for electronic mail, in iphotos, it was very simple resize (reduce quality or size). How I do in the new photo software?
You should be able to use the Help Viewer in the Photos app for information
How to resize or rotate an image. I haven't used an Apple photo app that much
but know the preview application can resize or rotate an image, change the dimensions,
do rotate/return the images, rotate/return several images, reduce the size of image file + change file type.
• Preview (Yosemite): resize or rotate an image
If Apple's Photo application should be these kinds of tools and the Help Viewer
in the menu bar in the Photos is a place to enter 'resize or rotate an image' or research.
Good luck & happy computing!
