New political opening/closing tab

I noticed that the tabs, the opening by a link (opens in a new tab), appear next to the tab with a site of origin of this link. So far I like it, but I can imagine a situation where it might be boring.

Another thing is closing of tabs. usually when closing a firefox tab on previously used tab - that's fine. but after closing a tab that was opened by a link from the other tab, firefox will switch to the next tab in the bar. I think there are good and bad sides.

So, to conclude. I think that users should be able to set these policies themselves. I realize these aren't very serious problems and people can live like this with no problem, but this race me fairly quickly after the last update.

Martin,

Sorry for the lack of the second half of your question originally.
Tabberwocky and Tab Mix Plus modules are the go to extensions for the customizable tab behavior.

Specifically, the Tabberwocky may probably not what you want:

+ Switch to the last selected tab or on the left when closing a tab

You won't need two of them at the same time, if Tabberwocky doesn't do the trick, Tab Mix Plus will probably be.

  • Restoration of a session shows that the empty tabs, even with opening last tab closed

I opened a link of Trillian in the middle of a session with the add-on from loading Session Manager, and now none of my sessions you show anything when I start Firefox or when I reload a session using the Session Manager. The number of tabs, which is in charge of the session is correct, that none of them have anything except new tab and nothing in it.

In addition, the list of closed tabs is not updated, or when I load the session using the Session Manager, trying to open a closed tab will open a new empty tab and turn this entry in the list of tabs in a blank tab.

Error console shows this when I open any page:
    > Framework init Script
    > 'Cu' is read only

And this when I close a page:
    > Caution: any attempt to write # preference recentlyClosedTabs bytes. It's bad for the general performance and memory use. Such a quantity of data should rather be written in an external file.

I tested with and without activated Session Manager, and it's the same behavior for two restorations of session (many blank tabs). I tried in safe mode and sessions seem to function normally (I can see the closed tabs and restore them).

Also, Session Manager saves the correct titles and URLs of tabs when it records in its external memory, even if they are "white", so I suspect that the problem is something that prevents writing a file in my Firefox profile, but I don't know what or how to fix it.

Finally, the Session Manager module page said he could help to save the error console while deactivation/activation of the add-on, so here's this newspaper:

OK, I managed to fix it myself, so I'll post what I did here:

The problem has been caused by TabMixPlus which also has its own session manager, so I had to reinstall this addon.

I also had to disable/re-enable each addon and delete all my cookies/cache because of some other strange issues which occurred, but one who reads this may not be no need to do so if they have other problems.

  • In Firefox 29 Center by clicking at the top of a tab in a zoomed window will open a closed tab previously instead of close the tab you clicked on

In Firefox 29 Center by clicking at the top of a tab in a zoomed window will open a closed tab previously instead of close the tab that you clicked.

Is this expected behavior? And if so is it possible to turn it off?

    Thank you

Middle-clicking on a tab the farm, any means - by clicking on an empty area of the tab bar opens a new tab.

A different behavior is probably caused by an add-on like Tab Mix Plus tab-based. If you are unsure if you have a such add-on, restart Firefox with disabled modules and check if the problem persists.

I can't be certain, but I don't think that the system has been changed yet, but in Firefox 33, it was reorganized, with more files and a whole new 'sessionstore-backups' folder/directory (hidden), with new file names.

    I already posted this

Thought I'd post some links on enhanced session restore system introduced in Firefox 33

I have not tried to manually restore nothing since then and that itself is probably an indication that the new system is more robust and more reliable.

  • New tab page as a tab (with the plus sign next to the tabs) open rather than below as a button to open a new page in the tab?

Alrighty, the Firefox on my laptop (und such that she has always been with Firefox for me) has the "Open a new tab" button as a tab himself. Always to the right of the tabs I have open und is smaller with only one more sign on this subject. (+) I hit that, bam, a new tab page opens upward, always with the + page to the right to open another tab, if I want to.

Yet, on the desktop that I use currently, this option isn't here. Instead, Open a button tab is a real personal touch I can move it anywhere near the bar of the browser, much as I have with the: start a conversation, current downloads, bookmark, home, options, privacy, etc... buttons.

I like the feature to open a new tab with Firefox on my laptop but not on my desktop. However, I can't find anything on how to open a new tab appears with the real tablets themselves where it is conveniently next to the tab I'm on that, rather than being a button where I have to go to one side or the other of my screen to get a new tab to open...

    How do I change it?

The image I have uploaded, 'B', this is what is on my desk, 'A' is what is on my laptop. "A" is what I want on my desktop.

Don't know what you're going with "expected normal behavior." I was asking how to pass from one to the other, in this case 'B' to 'A' in regards to my image is concerned. But, in any case, go out of your first line "the new tab button displays a button"+"when the button is on the tab bar", it's answered my question without answering it directly.

I asked how to get from one to the other, I know that both are possible. Which... answer my question would have been:

Just drag the new customizable tab to the tabs above button, not the toolbar with the browser bar, etc. below.

Behavior is not what I was asking, I was wondering how to change from one to the other. But thanks, move the button to the top with the tabs is what has changed for me in what I wanted.

  • When I open a link that opens a new Firefox window, it opens 2 tabs instead of one. How can I stop this?

When I open a link that opens a new Firefox window, it opens 2 tabs instead of one. A tab is the link that I opened and the second tab is just a generic Mozilla tab with links to 12 pages like Facebook, Youtube, etc. This tab opens on top too, so I always have to close to get what I'm looking for. How can I stop this from happening?

Hello. Thanks for all the posts on this topic. I have the same problem, as described by the op. But, while I use Avast, I have NOT the add-on from Astromenda which has been mentioned. However, I have the SB installed toolbar, and it has been recently updated, 29/12. I suspect that it is the culprit, if this problem is in fact not caused by an update of Firefox (my tiles have recently been reset on new tabs, and I suspect that Firefox for this problem).

I am ready to remove the toolbar from the SB, but prefer to keep it (Yes, I admit I'm stupid) If this annoying 'new window = 2 tabs with 'new tab' at the top' would just leave.

Apart from the removal of the toolbar SB... does anyone have suggestions? I don't see that all recently added add-ons/extensions that I don't recognize, apart from the update of the toolbar of SB.

Updated: 5 minutes after this announcement, I disabled the toolbar of SB and restarted Firefox. No change.

  • I can not open the last closed tab, does not begin with the tabs

Recently, I noticed that I can not open the last closed tab (the choice is there, but is grayed out).
Then, during the restart, I notice that the system does not restore the tabs visited - even if this choice is made in the Options.

I recently installed KeePass and its extension in Firefox and it seems to work (I don't actually use it often). And, recently, I had a problem where the system would resize my pages (as if I hold down the CTRL key while scrolling to me.

Several reboots corrected this problem - but now I can't resize by pressing the Ctrl and scrolling (while holding the Ctrl key and tapping the - key will be resize the window).

Any ideas on how to solve this problem without a complete reinstall? I have been copying my Firefox profile from one computer to another over the years and I am worried about losing my data / preferences.

    Thanks in advance!

    -John

Uninstalled KeeFox and the problem disappeared.

  • How to open a tab in a new window

I remember, but by mistake, it seems, that "in ancient times", there is an option to open a tab in a new window. I can't find this option and I can't find such a topic in the forum so far. It is a very useful option. I use beta FF28 on a 64-bit W7Pro computer and with tab modules: tab history, mix label more and avoid the endless tab.

-Change the setting browser.startup.page 0 manually via "subject: config.

You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that affects the pref browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once true value.

The user.js file appears only if you or another software created, therefore, normally, he wouldn't be here.
You can check its contents with a text editor if you do not create this file yourself.

The user.js file is read whenever you launch Firefox and initializes the preferences to the value specified in this file, so set of preferences via user.js can be changed temporarily for the current session.
