New processor for my OptiPlex gx270s

Hello!

I currently own a OptiPlex gx270s.

I don't want to buy a new computer, so I decided to get a new CPU, graphics card and hard drive

The problem is that I don't know what CPU, graphics card and the hard disk is Compatible with my motherboard (computer)!

My specs are:

OS: Microsoft XP Professional 5.1 build 2600

BIOS: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS v1.10 A03

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 running at 2.66 Ghz

RAM: Mb 2174

Graphics card: Intel 82865G Graphics Controller

Sound: SoundMAX Digital Audio

Can you please tell me what CPU, graphics and hard drive can be put in this Dell OptiPlex gx270s?

I like especially the top processors of range (Intel i7 or i5), but computers that have it's expensive.

Thank you

QuattroBrain

Hi QuattroBrain,

What form factor is your gx270s.

Your system does not support any i-series processor. Remember that your system is old, a few generations for the improvement of the performance will be limited at best. All new system, even a low, will run circles around your gx270s.

Hi, I have a mini Dell Optiplex 745 desktop computer and was looking to upgrade my processor.

What options are there for me? I was hoping to upgrade to an Intel Core i5 processor.

    The motherboard is as follows:

    Board: Dell Inc. 0GX297
    Serial number: CN6986174I20AF.
    The bus clock: 800 MHz
    BIOS: Dell Inc. 2.2.0 03/29/2007

Yes, you can use Core 2 Quad Q6600 or Q6700. You cannot use Q8xxx/Q9xxx.

Also, the faster supported non-Extreme dual core is Core 2 Duo E6700.

I'm looking to see if someone can help me to know if it is possible to change the processor in my laptop, and that the limitations it could be for the new processor, I'd appreciate any help. Also if you know a place that can help me with my situation it would be really useful, preferably in Sydney.

I know it sounds stupid now but why would you do that?
As you probably know the CPU upgrade is not supported by Toshiba and hardware upgrade is very limited on mobile machines.
Only the support of the hardware upgrade is upgrade RAM and HARD drive. These steps can be done without some risk, and you can do it yourself.

    Hello

Review the processors that are updated approved for HP 500-270.

I suggest that you consider using a discrete graphics card before the upgrade of the processor.

Consult this publication of the article.

The NVIDIA GTX 750 graphics card would be a good choice for the games with high settiings game support.  Looking for a 750 that does not require a power supply connector 6-pin PCI-E auxiliary.

  • best upgrade processor for Dell Optiplex GX620

    Hello

What is the fastest processor intel core 2, I can buy for my dell optiplex gx620?
    It has a pentium 4 2.8 ghz LGA775 socket

I've heard of bieng capped at 800 mhz fsb and I was also wondering if I could buy a dell optiplex Board that supports intel core 2 processor or if there is a way to Flash the BIOS for this

    concerning

    Ash

The GX620 does not support processors. The chipset could theoretically make some of the low end, but the bios should recognize the processor and then more or less allows dajuster the voltage supplied to the CPU motherboard.

The best you can get is a Pentium D I think. The first Optiplex with main support was the 745 if my memory serves.

  • OptiPlex gx270s for Windows XP video drivers

I rebooted a boring optiplex gx270s with XP SP3 to replace another machine having for some reason to have XP on it (an old piece of equipment must be supported and has no drivers after XP).

In any case, I ran into problems that others have also and got through it, not seeing the network card or sound.   However, Device Manager does still no video driver.

When I opened the box, there is a Council of DVI that says:

    Silicon Image

Map of ADD sil 164 Carrera

    SIL - SC - 0034C Rev 1.3

Enter the number of inventory shows this machine originally shipped (guess that's the same still in the box) with:

    8M 206

Adapter, graphics, Digital video Interface, LPF-BRKT

Nothing else shows on the manifest of the video, but not sure how many configurations this box might be bundled with.  I really hate on port DVI port anyway as I have only something connected to the VGA.  I can install this driver if necessary but is really one does not like.

In any case, the XP Device Manager currently displays a yellow question mark for "Other devices" video controller (VGA Compatible).

Without a driver, I can not set the resolution what that went 640 x 480 (16 colors)

I tried to look at the list of drivers to guess the most appropriate one and I have tried the one below only because it didn't seem like a fix for something and he mentioned dual DVI/VGA in what is definitely what this box has.

    R253949.exe

    and it says:

    ATI 64 MB PCI-Express x 16 (DVI/TV-out) Radeon X 300 SE, 128 MB PCI - Express x 16 (Dual VGA or DVI) Radeon X 300, v.8.263.5.1 - 060607 a - 035600 C, A02 ATI 64 MB PCI-Express x 16 (DVI/TV-out) Radeon X 300 SE 128 MB PCI - Express x 16 (Dual VGA or DVI) Radeon X 300, v.8.263.5.1 - 060607 a - 035600 C, A02

In any case, running this program seems to basically just abandon (maybe because it wasn't the right one), but certainly does not solve the problem of not seeing a driver in Device Manager.  I even tried another install into a directory of the driver that was created.

Any ideas on what video driver must I use?   I can try them all, but have seen other posts about people getting into trouble when you use the opposite hole (vs DVI VGA) which became the 'active', one from the pilots.   Just thought I do it first.

    Thank you!

Silicon Image is not a card at all, it is a passage.

8M 206 is just an INTEL shipped to past DVI.

I went to control panel and under sounds he says no audio device.

  • Get the old hard drive to work on the new processor

I am a PC Tech company with problems on PC at home.

My Win 7 Home Premium Dell Studio T435/9000 dead.  It was a motherboard problem, I chose not to replace the CPU/Mo with a duplicate.  The hard disk MBR is good, I could read it and when I installed in an Optiplex 990 at work, it is initialized.

I had the chance to receive a new Dell T5610 with 2 CPUs of a parent.  It came with professional Win7 preinstalled on an SSD, UEFI boot on a GPT disk.  But all my apps are absent and even a rat-pack obsessives like me do not have all the CD and install the files for the various applications on the old hard drive.

I want to use my old hard drive on the new PC, then after that it's stable, migrate the old hard drive to the SS disc supplied with the PC.

First problem was to learn the differences between MBR and GPT.  After this was learning that Home Premium does not work on a PC with two separate processors.  I use Win7 professional for that.  With the help of this forum, I was able to do this by using the Optiplex 990.  I run Win7 Professional on the Optiplex 990.

I take the former home of hard disk go BIOS to legacy.  Old hard drive that boots on 990, does not start on T5610.

I try various advanced options, safe mode, low-resolution video, nothing works.  I get a BSOD is a hard drive error, STOP 040000007 B.

I try Startup Repair tool and get the following:

    Problem event name

    Offline Startup Repair

    1 6.1.7600.16385

    2 6.1.7600.16385

    5 Autofailover

    6 1

    7. bad driver

    6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1 OS version

    Locale 1033

How can I get my old hard drive to work with the new processor.  Is it a question of Dell, a Win7 Office.  As the hard drive starts up successfully on another CPU, I believe that the hard drive is good.

Thank you very much for your help!

Thanks to you all.  But the solution was completely different.

Dell said the motherboard on the accuracy was so different from my old PC that unless I reinstalled Win7 Professional from scratch on the old hard drive, motherboard would not work with the old hard drive.

They have guaranteed that the old hard drive would work on a 8700 XPS.  After some problems, I managed to do the work.  Problem solved.

  • HP pavilion p7-1455: new processor update bios

If I update my bios on my HP 675852-001 MS-7778 motherboard I'll be able to upgrade to a new processor one like a http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113404 & cm_re=amd_apu-_-19-113-404-_-Product

    Hi there @Bucket2142,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!  I understand that you ask if a specific processor works with the motherboard of your system.  I'm happy to give you a helping hand with this.

Looking at the HP Pavilion Desktop PC p7-1455 product specificationsand HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - features card mother MSI MS-7778 (Jasmine), the motherboard supports only the following CPU upgrade options:

    Trinity A4 - 5300 65W Dual-Core
    Trinity Dual-Core A6 - 5400K 65 W
    Trinity A8 - 5500 65W Quad-Core
    Trinity Quad-Core A8 - 5600K 100 W
    Trinity image A10-5700 65 W
    Trinity image A10 - 5800K 100 W

Then one on that you specifically asked is not one of the supported types.

Please let me know if it works for you and if it does not solve your problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

  • New processor good / 3 years dv3 1073 pavilion which will not start?

My HP Pavilion dv3-1073 cl bought 3 years ago about quietly closes.  When the computer reboots, there is a black screen with flashing white brilliant strobe.  You can hear he's trying to stimulate but cannot. All of the keys on the touchpad are lit and caps, and num lock keys constantly turn on and turn off.  It is more under warranty, but hp support said needs a new processor at a cost of at least $400.  I really like this little computer, but wonder if a smart decision to spend this amount of $$ on a portable 3 year old.  Is the processor as the beginning of chess?

    Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks for the replies - decided to take the word of the diagnosis HP not everything and it took a diagnosis of $50 for repair of Staples dept.for.   I just had a call from them saying they had my departure from the computer and are thinking that it was just a matter of Windows!   They tested the equipment and it looks correct.  They can get to reproduce the original problem which is good.  If it has the same problems within 30 days I can take it back.  I'll make a backup first thing!
