New Satellite A200 is restarted after installing XP

Hi all

I hope someone can help with this problem.
I have a new Satellite A200 and made in the wake of the SP2 and matrix storage drivers.
I completely deleted all partitions on the disk and installed XP (slipstreamed version).
All going well until the first reboot and then it restarts just over and over again.
If I have safe mode of choice it loads correctly and I can't install drivers etc.
I wonder if it is a BIOS issue?
I tried to update using windows bios update for XP and it will not allow in safe mode.
The reboot happens before even starting XP screen appears, hard drive blinks twice, then it power cycles.
I hope that I'm not the first to encounter this problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello

Mhhh very strange to me, it looks like a software problem!
In Windows XP, the default setting is for the computer to automatically reboot when a fatal error occurs. If this fatal error only occurs when you stop, the system reboots automatically.

Have you noticed the same course the Vista OS?

What you could do is to install the Vista from the recovery CD again, and then update the BIOS to the XP version.
After this procedure install the XP with all the service packs and the compatible Intel matrix Storage Manager

Good luck

    Hello.

    Satellite A200 PSAE6E.
Install Windows XP instead of Vista.

Everything well instead of a thing. Device Manager indicates PCI Memory controller is peripheral unknown and showed the symbol of the brand in question.

What could do? I think I installed all the drivers that were possible to download from Toshiba support.

    Any suggestions? Really appreciate it.

    Peace!

You will never find a driver for XP PCI memory controller.
This material is only supported by Vista and so you can ignore this yellow exclamation point.

Furthermore, cela I found on the Toshiba site:

    > Despite the entered password correctly, it won't start windows.
    > Nor can I stop laptop holding down the power button to force the reboot

You have a Phoenix BIOS? If yes then you have to press the F2 key immediately after the laptop starts to access the BIOS. But you will not be able to access the BIOS, if the password is not right and cannot be verified.

The unknown BIOS password can be removed only by an ASP in your country. There is a special procedure that is known only to authorized Toshiba service technicians.
Therefore, follow the recommendation and contact guys!

PS: The laptop must stop when you press the power button for about 4-5 sec.
If not, unplug the AC and the battery to turn off the computer!

  • Satellite A200 PSAE6E: Impossible to install the audio drivers after installing Win XP realtek

    Hello...

Recently, I repartitioned my laptop HD to install XP and kubuntu (it came with vista)... However, I was not able to install audio drivers for its audio devices...

The laptop is a toshiba Satellite A200-PSAE6E and everest indicates the following audio controllers:

ATI hd 2xxx hdmi @ ati radeon hd 2600 - controller high definition audio
    Realtek alc268 @ intel 82801hbm ich8m - audio controller high definition

First I tried to download the audio drivers high definition realtek web site (32-bit version of windows xp). I tried to run the installation, manually navigating to WDM file during the installation of the pilot and navigation manually the folders where the drivers have been copied during the installation under c:\windows\system32\... all to nothing done...

Then I tried to download drivers toshiba official of the support web site of europe from toshiba for the realtek chip... I've lived the same behavior (both when you run the Setup program and install manually force pilots)

Then I tried to download the drivers for ATI HDMI audio device from realtek website... with the same results...

Windows tells me that it was impossible to find a driver in the any of the archives...

The only thing that could be the culprit because as far as I can tell, is that I installed service pack 3 RC2...

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Tasos

P.S. I've tried the two automatic installation through specification of a folder and choose the options "I will manually choose a driver from the list" in the hardware installation wizard... the result is always the same... Note that the audio works perfectly under ubuntu...

P.S.2 IMPORTANT! I recently discovered that toshiba offers bios versions for the A200 PSAE6E depending on if it is equipped with windows xp or vista...

This refers to which the operating system has been installed when the system was purchased, or the operating system that is currently used? Can I upgrade the Bios of my laptop with the XP version or this break from things?

  • Satellite A200 freezes / restarts randomly on startup

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite A200, Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 6.0.6002.
Intel (r) Core (TM) 2 Duo CPU T5450 at 1.66 GHz
Video ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 version = 8.380.0.0
Audio version of Realtek High Definition Audio = 6.0.1.5406
Network Marvell Yukon 88E8055 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller version = 10.0.4.3
    Intel (r) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection version = 11.5.0.32

For the two weeks... my laptop randomly freezes / restarts... especially when it is started for the first time in the day OR after being in standby / hibernation of State for a few hours.
Sometimes it gets stuck before we get to the login screen... sometimes shortly after... no certain activity seems to be related to this gel. And it's not freezing all the time... sometimes it restarts too. No blue screen.

No new software installed, except regular updates of windows. No conflict in the device driver. I checked the website of toshiba for the latest drivers. BIOS had a newer version... So I installed which (2.5). But the problem has not disappeared.

When the computer reboots, it works fine... I'm not able to find something to worry about in the event viewer. Start logging also came not to the top with a few errors. I also disabled the option restart automatically.

Windows partition was low on space... only 6 GB left of allotted 40 GB... so I thought to backup and install from scratch... do that... all the updates that are installed during the next days... but my laptop is back to the same State. One thing I notice, is that now it takes longer after starting (and then restart) to connect to the wireless router. But this isn't a problem.

Microsoft Fix It didn't help either... am looking for help to identify the cause and resolve it.

Is there a conflict somewhere which surfaces while system is booting high / shortly after startup?

    Thank you in advance.

    > How we can say is that there is nothing wrong with the equipment? What else can a check?
The new installation of the operating system has not helped. Right?
So for me it looks like hardware related issue.
I think the disk HARD or RAM (memory)

The HARD drive can be easily verified. Download the drive diagnostic tool called HARD: Drive Fitness Test
It s freeware tool and it allows you to scan the HARD drive and get details on possible malfunction.

The diagnosis of RAM can be done easily. Of course, there are tools like memtest86 + and similar, but in my experience the results of the analysis are not always 100% right
So, in that these cases it s always a good idea to test the laptop using new tested s RAM

  • Satellite A110-275 restarts after a stop on the current

    Hello

After installing xp sp3 if I stop my laptop while on external power, it seems to stop and power off of the fine - then 5 seconds later, it restarts?

If I turn off the external power (or pull the power cable on) if the machine is running on its battery - then stop - everything works fine. I have checked the event logs and see no error which would cause a reboot on shutdown. I disabled the reboot on system error switch and I turned off the wake of the bios on the options.

I also looked in Device Manager and off anything that could wake the machine after his stop (only found the modem). I am at a loss - I don't see why external power would cause the works to restart but battery very well. Finally its possible this safe mode can also not working after installed sp3.

If anyone has any ideas - I'd appreciate really them. It looks like there may be a newer bios available (I'm on V1.2) but I've seen a few posts cautioned against an updated bios windows at level - once again any info - very very welcome.

    System information:
    Toshiba Satellite - A110-275
    Windows XP pro - sp3

    > After installing xp sp3 so I stop my laptop while on external power, it seems to stop and power off of the fine - then 5 seconds later, it restarts?

Have you noticed this problem before installing SP3?

Its strange noises that this occurs only when the laptop is connected to the power adapter

I searched in the forum for similar issues and in many cases enabled Wake up on LAN would cause a reboot.
I know, you have this disabled in BIOS, but you should also check the LAN card properties in Device Manager.
You will find an Advanced tab can disable this option too!

Satellite A110-275 belongs to the series of PSAB0E.
There is a new BIOS for PSAB0E series.

BIOS v2.0 is OS independent. Means that he s created for Win XP and other OS.
V5.40 BIOS is only for Vista OS.

If you are using Win XP, then you should take the independent BIOS of the OS!

Here you can find details of the update to the BIOS:

    Thank you

    Hello

I think you should just go to the Device Manager and should remove (uninstall) the audio driver.
Then go to the Toshiba European page, choose your model of laptop, download the audio driver and unzip the package.
    Reboot the laptop.

After the Win operating system has started, the new device (sound card) should be recognized and the operating system asks for the driver.
Now, you must point to the driver package that you have downloaded from the page and must be reinstalled the driver.

    Check it out!

  • Satellite A200 - strange question after updating the graphics driver

The problem is with the driver Mobile Intel (r) 965 Express Chipset Family. System: Grand VISTA 32 bit Home Premium Service Pack 1. Laptop: Satellite A200.

I have installed the new driver of this (suggestion by Toshiba TEMPO) source:

    http://CE.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?id=65340&OSID=26&drive rLanguage = 42 & SOURCE = TEMPO & LNG = 20

After switching on the computer, the system is constantly asking me ("warning on securities"), whether to execute (open) 3 files: C:\Windows\System32\igfxtray.exe /... hkcmd.exe /... igfxpers.exe. Disabling the option "Always ask before opening the file" does not help. I have to choose the option "Open / cancel / close" to continue the implementation of the windows (an option to switch). Please don't forget that I translated above mentioned communications of poles.

Answer to the question, I received the support of Intel (r):

++ This is not really a problem with our drivers. This is related to the rights of the user/administrator and security functions defined by Windows * Vista. ++

    Yours faithfully,

    Maciej Kochan

When you install the drivers, you must right click on the EXE file and choose "Run as Administrator".

You should also temporarily disable your security software or reconfigure it to allow the file system.
Tools such as AdAware and Spybot spyware removal (or spyware in your Internet Security package tool) may block the file system.

  • All of a sudden Satellite A200 will restart

Hi all, I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A200 and I have questions with her re-starting all the time.
I have re-installed windows 7 and each time I do any work, all of a sudden the laptop will restart.

The problem would be a bad battery?

It is not easy to say whether this issue has something to do with the battery.
This happens on the battery only, or supply even when the adapter is connected to your laptop?

  • Satellite A200-1CR: can I install Vista using my Vista DVD installations?

    Hello

I would like to get some answers to my questions...

I have the satellite A200-1CR (PSAE0) and I want to install vista on my own... not with the recovery DVD but I have some serious questions...

    (1) may I have problems during the installation... (Drivers SATA, etc.), problems of BIOS or Toshiba has no restrictions?

    (2) what problem if I erase the secret (winre) partition and what is its purpose?

    (3) if I do a clean install with my DVD with my vista... If I want in a future close that I can use the recovery DVDs I got it or not?

    (4) to the drivers section for my laptop for each part has 5,6,7 or 8 drivers for win vista... which is good, or it's all the same?

    (5) in general, what do you propose? Are there reasons why not to do my format? I did a large number of formats in desktop, but never in the notebooks.

Sorry if you tired with my questions and sometimes my bad English...
    Thank you in advance...

    Why not.

    As to the question;

    (1) possibly the Vista operating system does not recognize the HARD drive during the installation of the OS. In this case you must install storage Intel Matrix (Robson package) Manager first! It of a driver SATA and can be found on the Toshiba or Intel driver page.

    (2) Windows recovery environment (WinRE) is placed on the hidden partition and it of necessary to restore a damaged operating system.
The Vista operating system automatically creates the hidden partition and Windows re installing the OS.

    (3) Yes, you can use the Toshiba Recovery CD. But it erases the entire HARD drive always.

    (4) take a newer version

    (5) generally I put t see any reasons to get in shape. The preinstalled Vista operating system has been configured and all the tools of Toshiba, drivers and additional software should work very well.
I don't recommend a new format if the operating system is working well.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A200 - recovery disk will install Windows?

I have Toshiba Satellite A200. Hard drive is dead and he changed a new.

If I buy the product recovery disc will be functioning and install windows vista family premium provided with the machine?

    Hi spiropi,

Yes, the Toshiba Recovery disk will install the original operating system supplied with the notebook. Toshiba Recovery disk always works, even you changed the HARD drive. The disc contains an image of the settings from the factory with all the drivers and tools, then everything will be installed automatically and you get out of adjustment of the rear housing.

Thus, you can order such a disc and you can the original settings on your new HARD drive. :)

  • Can satellite A200 - 14 d - I install Windows 7?

    Hello

    I have a Satellite A200 - 14 d and I think to install Windows 7 on it.
I put 1 GB of additional RAM.

Is it possible to install it?
And if so where can I find the drivers for it?

    Hello

Theoretically you can install Windows 7 Why not? What do you think about this?

But in your case I would not install Windows 7 because it s only a beta version and can cause many problems. Moreover, I don't see a reason to install Windows 7. I am still using Windows XP and it s enough for me.

Normally, you can download the drivers on the Toshiba site, but for a beta OS you won't find not all the drivers on the Web site. If you're searching on external sites as Intel find some.
    Good luck.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A660 - slow start after installing Win7

I have an A660. Satellite (model aus)

I installed the 64 bit version of windows 7 and starting to take more than a minute. I was wonderign if I used a retail drive and used the serial number at the back of the computer laptop would it not be a better facility.
Then, I would install just the stuff I need.

Also, so I use a commercial version would drive recovery based HARD stop working? (because the commercial version may overweite some entries written in the section the drive boot HARD-now if I press 0 he goes to setup - if rerail version replaces this function would stop working?)

    Thanks heaps.

Each Toshiba laptop comes with the Toshiba recovery image. This recovery image contains several specific Toshiba and utility tools that begin with OS and also some additional software.

What you need now is the right configuration. With other words, you can remove the unnecessary software from the system and stop all applications, you need the startup list t.
    How to do this?
Press WIN + R > write msconfig and confirm with OK. The system configuration will be open. Go to the Startup tab and clear the check box in front of app you n t need initially to the top.

Of course, you can install a clean version of the OS, but for product activation, you can use the product key from the sticker. This license is for the version of Windows that you have with your laptop.
HDD recovery works with the factory only settings. When you install the clean operating system, you will not be able to start. What you need to do is to create recovery DVDs after Toshiba s instruction how to do this.

If you have any other questions please let us know.

  • Satellite A200 (PSAE0C-AH308C) - after the BIOS black screen update

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite (model No. A200; Part No. PSAE0C - AH308C) and to install Windows XP on a version already corrupted Vista (which had 4 partitions, that have been corrected, erased, then reformatted in a solid block). Now, I have installed all the appropriate drivers off Toshiba Canada support site...

Everything worked, but I wanted to see in Windows (since I just got this computer) if everything was in place and working normally until I installed Ubuntu... Then I did the update to the BIOS flash. The program is supported in two formats, one for Vista and one for XP... for XP has a more high at 5.20 and Vista BIOS version the 1.80 revision of BIOS... that are marked as being updated by the Toshiba site. I opted to download the latest version of the BIOS.

Things got ugly as soon as I unzipped the self-extracting program. First of all he said he could not find a .dll file (even if it is clear from there), so that seemed as if it started to Flash the BIOS but has not finished (it was just what happened when I opened the program)... I think he got to the ROM of compensation but did not have any code in there... Windows attempted to close the program because he did not respond, and I tried to take the program... had the same .dll error, but this time, the screen of the program was just gray...

Given that this program is not Flash the BIOS unless the user selects the button "Flash BIOS", I have reason to believe that it was a bug in the program, or a combination of it and Windows comes to interfere (no program were running at the time, while he was supposed to be a dedicated flash). I can only flash in the Win.

Now, I rebooted the computer, twice... the screen turns black, the HARD disc spins, the DVD drive has done his usual clicking sound when the computer starts, but it seems to stop as there is no BIOS entact.

Can I replace the BIOS chip? There is no way for me to access the BIOS at all.

Thanks for any help on this

    Hello

Unfortunately, the BIOS update has failed and now BIOS is damaged. For this reason, you cannot start and use your laptop. I agree with Luke. Please contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer and ask for help. Talk with them and I am sure that you will find the best solution to this problem.

Satellite A200 is quite long on the market and it is hard to believe that updating the BIOS on the Canadian page may have a bug. All updates are tested and used by millions of users and service providers. If there is something wrong, I do not believe that this update will be available on the page of public support.

In any case, contact the nearest service provider and explain the situation. Believe me this is the best thing you can do now.

    Good luck!
