New tab. Show only the URL by default; no history
My default URL is 'google.com'. When I open a new tab, I want to show him as "google.com" and nothing else. Can you help me to do? I am running MAC OSX 10.9.5.
Enter about: config in your address bar, press ENTER. Accept the warning.
Search for browser.newtab.url, change the value to www.google.com

Show only the URLs typed in the address bar
Anyone know how to configure Firefox 6, so that it only shows the URL I manually typed in when I discovered the drop-down menu of the address bar or use the AutoComplete feature? It would be great if he shows me the most visited URL on top when I discovered the drop-down menu of the address bar.
I don't mind storing the cache of the Web sites I have visited so that future visits to the site are faster. But not a big deal if it can remove history and only remember my URLs typed in. I want it behaves like other browsers.
See

Change the value of 32 for typed and lost one of the best features of Firefox.

You can keep all the features of the AwesomeBar in place including a space delimited by the tildea ("" ~ "") which would show you only the urls typed, and you would get all normal.
I think one of the main problems is the 3 lines of rich text to show what would be better in a single line of formatting.
I prefer to keep the full facilities of the AwesomeBar showing more than the default value and watch them on simple lines with the extension "oldbar" (2.0 KB to download), and with the extension 'location bar limit' (3.1 KB download) showing the options (80 results, 30 visible).
- https://addons.Mozilla.org/firefox/addon/LocationBar-limit/
Typed is high up in frecency, so if you have pasted a url in the location bar that would really boost his side 3 times and you would almost never have to do this often once you have a base of good story.
Please mark "resolved" a response that will better help others with a similar problem - hope it was her.

Firefox does by default. You probably have an add-on installed that changed the focus of the cursor in the URL bar of the search bar.

can not put a new tab to open the default google search
I found these instructions:
In case you need more than one step by step:(1) in a new tab, type or paste about: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.
(2) in the search above the list box, type or paste newtab and make a pause so that the list is filtered
(3) double-click the preference browser.newtab.url and enter your favorite page:
Page thumbnails (default) => about:newtab Blank tab => about:blank Built-in Firefox home page => about:home Any other page => full URL to the page
Press Ctrl + t to open a new tab and check that it worked.
However as per the attached screen shot, I do not have a preference "browser.newtab.url"
Hi, 41 of Firefox, you must use an add-on like tab override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the page tab.
Once installed, open the Add-ons (Ctrl + Shift + A) Manager > Extensions, and then look for the new tab override and click Options to set your preference.
Note, if you want only the new tab to be the same as your home page, you can use the Add on new tab homepage instead.
You will then need to restart Firefox for all changes to take effect.
If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

How can I disable the newtab most used feature display sites. I want the new tab to open the page displayed in the newtab:url in the topic: function config
41 of Firefox is no longer uses the browser.newtab.url setting in about: config because he was constantly attacked by malware. From 41 of Firefox, you need an add-on to change the new tab page.
Here are a few options (I'm learning more all the time):
- If you are already using the extension classic restaurateur theme: There is an option somewhere (!) in his dialogues of the parameters to select another page in the new tab.
- If you want to use your new tab homepage: Try https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage/
- If you want to set another page or a completely blank page: Try https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/
Setting up substitute again tab
After installing this extension, you must use the Options page to set the new desired tab page (instead of use subject: config).
Open the page modules using either:
- CTRL + SHIFT + a (Mac: Cmd + shift + a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the side right, find the new tab override and click the Options button. (See first screenshot attached).
Depending on the size of your screen, you may need to scroll down to enter the address in the form. (See second screenshot attached). For example:
- (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
- Blank tab = > subject: empty
- Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
- Any other page = > full URL of the page
Then tab or click this form field and you can test using Ctrl + t.
Success?
Once you have set it as you wish, you can close the Add-ons page (or use the back button to return to the list of Extensions of this Options page).

I had the installer of Firefox to make it work the way I like it and the last update added "suggested sites" for new tabs. I recognize what they / you are trying to create new features, but I don't like this feature. No problem with that, but I want my standard page in return she used to load. Details are always available on: config and browser.newtab.url, but he is no more responsible for this page. I removed the details for suggested sites and now it loads a blank page with a search bar. Any suggestions?

To the right of the last tab, there is a cross (x). If I wanted a new website to be open all keeping one in that I was, I clicked on this and she has opened a new page and I could go to other sites of my choice. The cross is gone, and I can't find out how to open a new tab and go to a new web site.
You can find the button new tab showing as a '+' on the tab bar.
You can open the window customize and drag the button new tab that indicates that a sign plus bar tabs on another toolbar and it will become a regular tools like the new button bar button tab you have in versions of Firefox 3.
If you can not find the new button tab then click the button 'Restore Default Set' in the window customize.
If you would like the button tab at the right end of the tab bar, then place a flexible space to the left of it. -
In the previous version of Firefox, there's a (+) to the right of open tabs. Clicking this button would display the Web pages visited earlier. This button seems to be missing in Firefox v.4.0.1.
This feature is always available? Or am I just missing something?
Thank you

When only the url is displayed in the address list, it is much cleaner and easier to read, as in earlier versions.
Add code to the file userChrome.css below default @namespace.
@namespace url("https://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */ .ac-title-box { display:none !important; }
The file userChrome.css (UI) customization and userContent.css (Web sites) are located in the folder of chrome in the Firefox profile folder.

Force new tabs open to the right of the current tab
Hi all
Is it possible to have the new tabs open to the right of the current tab, you are, as opposed to the default which is to the right of the last tab open?
I know that it's automatic when you click on a link in the tab in the course, but would be very happy to be able to do this for new tabs.
Thank you!

This problem has only just begun and I don't know why. When I click the icon to open the Firefox browser, my homepage tab opens and another new tab opens to the sides of my Home Page tab. I checked and none are tube not characters in my address of the home page.
This seems to take place (e.g., Firefox opens my home page AND a new tab at startup - unsolved).
In case one of your extensions is in question, could test you mode without failure of Firefox? It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.
You can restart Firefox in Mode safe help
Help > restart with disabled modules (Flash and other plugins still works)
In the dialog box, click on 'Start mode safe' (not Reset)
Any difference when using the Home key or open a new window (Ctrl + n)?

I have my browser set to restore the previous session, when I open Firefox and new tabs to open the vacuum. With these settings, I used to be able to open new windows and carry the load of my home page, while keeping intact previously mentioned behaviour, but when I open a new window now, I get a blank page.
Is it possible to restore the previous behavior, or are all the tabs that are now seen as the same now, if they are open within the framework of new or existing windows?
You must change the string "browser.newtab.url" by clicking twice and then write "subject: empty"... now the newtab will open with a blank page...» To change the home page will appear in a new window, see how to How to set the home page How to set the home page ~ J99
