Newby T430 and T420

Hi all

I hope that this forum will help me.

I have a Lenovo T420 and aT430

T420 2640 M processor 2.8 GHz I7

8g RAM

3520 T430 I7 cpu @ 2.9 ghz

16 GB of ram

SSD 840 evo 120 GB to start

I put black 750 GB HD in two of them in the player using a cart, one of the 430 make no sound and is hardly on all but those in the 420 seems to be on most or all of the time.

I am not very informed about computers but would like to get the maximum that I can get out these thinkpads would put an ssd in the 420 and another 8 GB of ram to make it 16 same as like the 430 430 works very well.

What is the maximum size ssd that can be used in the 420, I heard that there is a limit, all help will make my day.

see you soon

Although you should probably use UEFI, if you want to use a more 2 TB drive, there is no limit.

  • T430 and T430s screen connector

    Hi all

I have a T430, the display is faulty, when I looked for a replacement for where I am, I could not find T430, I found only T430s replacement screen.

The T430 and T430s, the same screen connectors?

    Kind regards

    Osama

    Hello and welcome, osrashad

Two portable computers use the large number of the same panels, at least 9 of the 14 of the T430 parts list.
So, connectors and interface signals are the same.

  • T410 and T420 keyboard and touchpad not working is not windows 7

    Hi guys,.

hope you can help me with this. I have a really strange behavior, I have to say...

I received a T410 and worked two days on this subject. A desk, I moved to another location and worked for a few hours. After lunch, I started again the machine, but the touchpad or the keyboard does not work. If I connect a pointer through the USB port on the computer, the pointer is working, keyboard unfortunately not.

Ok. Installed new Admins. I worked one day, the next morning, same problem. Well, back to the admins, reinstalling. Once again, for two days, I was able to work without any problems. So as it happened the third time admins decided to provide me with a new hardware: I received a T420. I worked with this week without any error.

At Christmas, I took the mobile home. I had worked with him for an hour. I used a pointer USB bluetooth wireless. No problems so far.

I went to the office this morning a guess what? Same problem with regard to the T410: startup of Windows but the touchpad and kayboard does any work!

What I don't have? In my opinion nothing special:

    (1) to start the machine

    (2) pointer added

    (3) connected via WIFI network at home (Home-network application settings)

    (4) packed the laptop in my suitcase and fled.

    (5) back in the office connected to the network via LAN, connected via VGA for monitor, usb keyboard, added pointer.

What this may be? I want to say that I am able to destroy for different machines! Only town is Windows 7 and T4xx series...

    Any idea?

    Yes! Found round!

The problem is that I changed my mouse setting in Control Panel. I received a message asking me about uninstalling the driver for the touchpad. I clicked on "Yes" and restard after he is blocked.

A friend had the same problem he's changed the setting from the touchpad.

I reinstalled the driver, now I only get the message more and I can change my settings. After restarting doesn't always work.

  • Problems WWAN T430 and AirPrime MC7700

We have a fairly new T430 provided with Windows 7 64 bit and an internal AirPrime MC7700 aircard. When the user wants to switch from a wired Ethernet connection, it does not recognize the aircard map until after a reboot. At this time there, he works until he returns on the wired Ethernet connection again.

In addition, it doesn't seem to cooperate with Sonicwall Global VPN Client. It hangs on "acquiring IP address.» He also wants the opportunity to create a phonebook entry when the customer is activated, which seems to be for a modem connection (we just cancel out of it and start over when that happens). The VPN client software works very well with its home wifi connection.

    Hi, tholyoak

To ensure that they do not cause the issue, I recommend making sure that the drivers and BIOS are up-to-date. The latest BIOS for your machine was released January 17, 2013, so it is fairly new and can help. The update of the BIOS can be found hereand the rest of the drivers can be found here.

    It will be useful,

  • Error 2101: ThinkPad T430 and Nocti OCZ 120 GB

    Hello

After about a month of use, I suddenly got an error: "2101: Drive error detection on hdd2 (sata mini)". Simply by browsing the internet system hung up and after the reboot, that the error appeared.

I read that people here had same error just after the Assembly of their SSD - mine has worked for a few weeks.

The problem appeared shortly after the auto BIOS update but not right after flash. 2 or 3 reboots went smoothly.

Strange, it is now my BIOS version 1.16 when crashes version 1.17 - on the web since last Wednesday the update went Saturday.

Any ideas how to avoid sending anything (laptop and SSD) to RMA?

I already have RMA to OCZ ticket but want to save time and do not want to lose the data.

Besides I don't know if this isn't the BIOS: Lenovo's new.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Gootchio

Okay, this Monday, I had Nocti replaced by OCZ and it works great - now

So it was no fault of Thinkpad.

  • Universal docking station for Lenovo T430 and X 201

    Hello

I am looking for a universal docking station for both my en T430 my X 201 laptop.

It must have a minimum of 2 ports usb + a HDMI output to connect to my TV. A displayport (mini or normal) is also correct.

THX in advance for the help.

    http://www.DisplayLink.com/shop/docks

You would need to port usb Replicator options, but noted that these devices require usb 3.0 ports. So for your X 201, you need to get an expresscard usb 3.0 card adapter.

  • T430s is not awaken from its slumber with mouse and USB keyboard Logitech wireless

    Hello

My T430s is hooked up with a monitor and a keyboard/mouse (Logitech LX710) wireless.

I put the laptop itself under my desk since I did not take it with me that often.

Now, when I hit the sleep button on my keyboard, the computer goes to sleep, as expected.

-There is no way (it seems) that I am able to wake up.

    I am running Windows 7 (x 64).

I tried different USB ports (to make sure I use a motor) for Logitech wireless USB adapter.

In the BIOS Setup, I checked to see if the USB ports can wake the computer from sleep mode.

In the devices tab Manager keyboard (and mouse), power management, I enabled "allow this device to wake the computer". I did the same thing for the "Human Interface devices".

"Update driver software" for the keyboard and the mouse says I have the latest drivers to install.

In power controls of Lenovo, under Advanced settings, USB settings, I tried the USB selective suspend allowed many people with reduced mobility. They are disabled for the moment. Under global settings of power, I enabled 'always on USB"and"even when the computer is turned off.

Then... I'm slowly running out of options. So for now, I can leave the computer at any time (it's what I do, with an occasional reboot - that seems not so respectful), or I can crawl under my desk in the morning, take the laptop on the little stool that I put there, make attention to diet, USB and cables monitor and external hard drives, open the laptop , press the power button, close it again and carefully put it back. What is bulky.

So... what someone has ideas on how to fix this and leave my wireless keyboard to wake the portable computer?

(Oh.. and of course buy a wired keyboard is an option, but not one I prefer...)

I only have the mouse, but I have a T430s and a Microsoft wireless mouse to wake it. I always use the blue (USB3) port on the left side for all functions related to the startup, because I learned that the always active port (on the back) is started later in the process of turning the power on. Use the right-click button to wake it up, which is the function that was originally defined as one to this end, even though I believe that this movement of the mouse as she wakes up on a wired mouse.

  • Docking Station T430, Graphic interfaces laptop and a usable station at the same time?

    Dear community,

I have a Thinkpad T430 and I want to use two external monitors.

The Thinkpad T430 has just a mini Displayport and I don't want to use the VGA port.

So I thought to buy a docking station.

But there are several of them.

I just need an additional port display (Miini) or DVI.

The question is: if I buy a docking station

which provides a Mini Display Port addition or an additional DVI port that I am able to use one of the docking station and integrated laptop mini display port?

    Thanks for your help.

    Kind regards

    Marskuh

    Hi marskuh,

You should be able to use both ports simultaneously.

Let us know if this isn't the case.

  • T420s + Mini Dock Plus Series 3 with USB 3.0 90W - USB 3.0 works as USB 2.0

    Greetings!

I'm probably not the first person who cares, but I did not find the same topic in the forum.

I have T420s Lenovo ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 with USB 3.0 plugged 90W. The problem, I USB 3.0 port on the dock (blue) work in USB 2.0. The port of the laptop works very well. I check it by plugging Seagate drive HARD mobile - when the HARD drive is plugged into the port blue station dock Windows (7, 64-bit) complains "device can run faster", using the port laptop does not trigger the message.

    USB 3.0 is installed.

    BIOS version is 1.37.

    Drivers Intel Chipset are updated.

Device Manager displays the connection as a chain of two "Generic USB Hub, if the HARD drive is connected to the laptop port its chain of" Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 blah - blah ".»

Help, please! If this combination is not supported, please point to the corresponding link.

    Thank you!

USB 3.0 port on the dock is not supported on the T420s, it is supported only on T430s and later versions.

    http://support.Lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=ACCS-Guide

It allows to find the document listed in the link.

I have the T420s and T430s with this docking station.

  • EliteBook 820 G2: Start from USB - does not take into account my choice and starts hard disk anyway!

    Hi all!

I just got a new EliteBook 820 G2 and I'm trying to dual boot with Ubuntu. I have it on a USB hard drive that I used to install successfully on a couple other machines (dual-boot a Lenovo T430 and also on a desktop AMD new construction). I cannot go into the options to start with Esc or F9 and the disk appears, but there just ignores it and goes straight to Windows.

I don't have the partitioned external drive, then perhaps that he is not the right one? Seems funny that he would have worked on two other systems, but perhaps a quirk of the HP BIOS? I don't have a simple USB key with sufficient capacity to hold the installer, but do you think I should try to borrow one for that?

For any help or suggestions appreciated!

    See you soon,.

    Joe.

    Hi, Joe:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to go into the BIOS and see if there is a setting to auto USB for USB3 ports.

If it is set to USB3, you cannot start normally port USB3.

USB3 can be the default setting.

The auto adjustment allows the ports work as two USB3 ports when you run windows, and the USB3 drivers are loaded or USB2 ports when not in Windows (for example, when you need to boot from a USB flash drive).

  • T430S keyboard keeps 'jump' when entering?

I have a T430s and I like it so far, except a negative thing is that it keeps 'jump' around each time I type. During typing, at random times that he'll jump whenever the cursor is placed at the time, often in the middle of a word I had already typed previously. (He did 4 times while typing this message) Obviously, this makes very annoying to have to repeat a word or phrase over and over again. I certainly don't type very fast and try to be careful with my hand placement, but like a normal adult male size, is possible that the new keyboard Chiclet makes it easier to my fingers or palm to inadvertently move or tap on the touchpad that is causing this problem? Or is it a software defect?

It's my second Thinkpad and I've never had this problem before. Please advise! Thank you.

Specifications: Lenovo T430s, Windows 7 family

Check under the touchpad properties, look at Smart Settings/Palm CONTROL

  • Linux and guarantee

    Hello

I plan to buy a T430 and 3 years onsite NBD + protection against accidental damage. Because I'm not a big fan of Windows, I have to either a configuration dual-boot (Ubuntu + Windows) or just a single boot Ubuntu.

My question is: is the installation of an operating system not windows will void the warranty?

    Thank you!

    Best,
    Emmanouil

As far as I know your hardware warranty remains the same. Incidents of software support Lenovo supports only Windows since it's pre-intalled with her.
