T420s + Mini Dock Plus Series 3 with USB 3.0 90W - USB 3.0 works as USB 2.0
I'm probably not the first person who cares, but I did not find the same topic in the forum.
I have T420s Lenovo ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 with USB 3.0 plugged 90W. The problem, I USB 3.0 port on the dock (blue) work in USB 2.0. The port of the laptop works very well. I check it by plugging Seagate drive HARD mobile - when the HARD drive is plugged into the port blue station dock Windows (7, 64-bit) complains "device can run faster", using the port laptop does not trigger the message.
USB 3.0 is installed.
BIOS version is 1.37.
Drivers Intel Chipset are updated.
Device Manager displays the connection as a chain of two "Generic USB Hub, if the HARD drive is connected to the laptop port its chain of" Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 blah - blah ".»
Help, please! If this combination is not supported, please point to the corresponding link.
USB 3.0 port on the dock is not supported on the T420s, it is supported only on T430s and later versions.
It allows to find the document listed in the link.
I have the T420s and T430s with this docking station.

I have 3 laptops W520 and 3 Thinkpad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 docks. The audio 1/8 "output audio and MIC ports are not detected by Windows. In the sound settings, the high definition Audio Device is always disconnected. I read that there was a problem with background sound via ports audio on an earlier execution of these docks, but the production on these date are all 11/07 (after Lenovo solved the problem). Someone had a similar problem? The ports are inactive for the W520 by design?
Solution:... drivers. Should have checked that first. I thought that our support office would have done that. I thought wrong.
I'm having a problem with the configuration of my lenovo thinkpad T410s.
I have connected two 19' DVI monitors for the docking station, but during the startup process, I get no output on screens.
After loading Windows 7, the windows login screen.
In the BIOS all the graphics preferences are being "switchable graphics", because I also use it on business trips.
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem?
I have Lenovo T520 with home Mini Dock Plus Series 3 station.
I would like to connect three monitors, that is, two dviports and thirdly, one is the T520 monitor.
I updated my video driver for Interl (R) Graphics 3000 Driver.
When I try to run the NVIDIA Graphicdriver, I got a message error "the graphics driver is not compatible with the graphics hardware. I tried to find a solution on Lenovo forum
It says that I need to enable Optimus in the system.
I can't understand what he found where I can activate Optimus?
You guys have any suggestions as to how I can put it up using two DVI ports instead of use the vga?
Thank you all guys.
While constantly looking for a solution to extend the number of monitor. I managed to find a solution. Today, I had "I - TEC USB 2.0 graphics video card" and he connected with one of the USB port. It works very well and I am also pleased with the video quality. I can separately used the third monitor. It is also possible to share the display between the second and the third screen.
Today, I tried to use the eSATA connection on my Mini Dock Plus Series 3 with my X 220 (4290-W1B). According to the users manual, it should work and that there should be an option to toggle the eSATA connection in BIOS-> Security-> access to the Port of IO. But isn't! The dock would be defective?
Of course, it is, as stated in the manual user and by many users themselves.
in any case: Solution:
1. step: Activate HDD/Ultrabay option in BIOS
2 step: Use a disk external DRIVE with separate power supply, as the eSATA on the dock connection is _not_ powered!
What is the difference between the "ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3" and the "ThinkPad Mini Dock more Series 3"?
Also, why are they not those available to the Canada, but when they already sell the 400s in the Canada?
Hi sgarrity and welcome to the Lenovo user community!
A DVI port, a DisplayPort and an eSATA port:
Have you tried the Lenovo Canada call on availability? Online shops often don't understand not everything that is available.
I am recently received a Mini Series 3 with USB 3.0 for my laptop company ThinkPad X 220 Windows 7 64 bit.
However, after installation of the USB 3.0 driver downloaded from the Lenovo Web site, I still do not see USB 3.0 in my Device Manager device.
I have also some test using an USB3.0 external HDD but the USB 3.0 port seems to have exactly the same speed as all the other ports.
How can I activate USB3.0 on this Docking Station?
ThinkPad X 220 with i7 (i3 and i5 has usb 2.0 ports only) has a single USB 3.0 port, but the way it is connected through the motherboard, it is unable to support port additional usb 3.0 from the dock.
I need to buy a new laptop of Lenovo in emergency.
But we must ensure that it supports dual display on two external monitors. (VGA)
My question is:
(1) we plan to buy with the mini dock more, she has two HDMI port.
can it support two external monitors for Intel HD Graphics 3000?
(we will close the covers when to use two external monitors)
(2) can I use DVI to convert converter VGA to VGA to support two external monitors
(3) what is the difference in weight to 220 X SATA HDD and SSD HDD?
Please help to emergency!
Yes, it works.
He must need a converter VGA (F) display port.
See you soon
My laptop not charging when I plug the adapter to the back of the stand.
When I'm on the dock with the adapter plugged into the laptop, if I hover over the Green battery in the system tray icon, it tells me that I should plug the dock:
"Alternating current is detached from your docking station. Good battery charging and docking station operation, connect the AC adapter to the docking station. »
I'm not supposed to use two separate power adapters, am I? (One for the dock and one for the laptop)?
I think I might have a bad dock.
you have that to plug in the dock, you don't need to be plugged into taking the laptop when you are connected.
Remove the battery and anchor the laptop and press the button, does it start?
I have a mini advanced docking station 2504 I used with my R61 successfully for a few years.
I recently bought a T500 and was informed by the sales department that my existing 2504 advanced mini dock would be compatible with the T500.
When I use the mini dock with the T500 no USB port works not at all?
All the solutions or do I need a different mini dock.
they are definitely compatible.
I have a x 220 9 cells and what to buy the mini dock more series 3.
However, I'm not sure if 9elements x 220 is compatible with the dock.
Anyone know or have experience?
The size of the internal battery is indifferent when the laptop on series 3 docking over the docks. I have a 9 cell with my X 230 X 220 and put them on the 3-series more anchor every day.
Look at the specifications for the new cradle of 433835:
Did someone tried this dock with the W520? I would like to know 2 things before "redevelopment":
This shows that the W520 will have access to the USB 3.0 port on the dock. T it?
He also stated:
"Mini Dock Plus (90W & 170W): 2 x DVI, 1 x VGA, 2 x DP.
Many systems allow for two of these video ports to use simultaneously. Some systems, including those with NVIDIA Optimus technology, allow up to three video ports on the dock to be used simultaneously. »
Is that means the W520 can drive three monitors of this docking station?
The USB 3.0 replaces on the previous docking station eSata port and is accessible when the W520 is docked in the station's docking port (there is only 1 USB 3.0). The number of monitors that can be operated by the W520 does not change with the new dock. This limitation is in particular use of the chipset NVIDIA on the W520. The W530 can drive 4 monitors.
I'm having some trouble connecting my T510 (NVS 3100 m) but my thinkpad mini dock more series 3 (4338). I use a dvi cable.
So far, the only resolution that I am able to is 1280 x 800... instead of 2560 x 1600.
If possible, I'd rather not get display port / DVI adapter.
only the displayport on the platform can support the Apple 30 inch monitor to its WQXGA resolution.
Two DisplayPort monitor support resolution of 2560 x 1600
If you need dual link dvi, you will need to get a Displayport active Dell converter DVI dual link for $99 USD.

I have a type of T500 2242 with GMA X4500MHD graphics in Advanced Mini Dock. BIOS 1.20, startup display set to the DVI connector. Cable DVI - D single-link of the dock-> DVI - D input on external TFT monitor. I get different results according to the attached monitor:
(1) PX191 19 "1280 x 1024 native plane: splash screen appears on the external monitor.
(2) "Topaz" Soyo DYLM24D6 24 "native 1920 x 1200 S: external monitor stays off, the splash screen appears on the screen of T500.
I also have a T42 with Mini DVI - D Dock, -- this one shows the start screen on the 24 "monitor without problem, using the same cable dvi - d single-link I tried with the T500.

Maybe there is something wrong with the Soyo is EDID? Or a bad interaction with the T500 BIOS?
I would be grateful for clues on how to get the start screen to display on the monitor 24 ".
Good news! I sent my T500 in-service, and Lenovo replaced the motherboard. Now, the startup screen is correctly displayed via the dock to my monitor's DVI port external 24 ". After what Linux / X sees the external monitor and it puts in place and it displays correctly. So: problem solved! Thanks, Lenovo
Before the swap of the Board of Directors system, I was able to use a cable DVI DisplayPort / talk to the 24 "monitor. This requires an extra cable to plug/unplug, so it's nice to finally have the DVI dock work.
It seems that this problem only arises with some ThinkPad + external monitor combinations. My original system card worked fine with a 19 "monitor. And another Member pointed out that a single version of a 19 "works fine with its T500 Belinea monitor, even if a previous version does not. (See this thread for more details.)
