Next withdrawal of paragraph Style misbehavior.

I'm trying to implement some paragraph styles, but they are wrong to behave.  Style in departure known [Cap], which is basically the updated paragraph shaped by a drop cap.  I have created a modified version of this style to use as the next style, it is basically the same, except there is no drop cap and there a 12pt on the first line indentation.

When I apply the character style and the next style, it is only the 2nd paragraph indents, but not the rest.

How can I fix?

In the second definition of style, your style should specify the following Style: [style].

Have you thought about doing that?

  • Paragraph styles apply bad

Hello. I have a strange problem here that I've never met before. Somehow my paragraph styles do not apply to the right. In the options, everything seems fine, but when I apply a certain style it turns into a bad (ultralight instead of ordinary for example) font style. When I try to apply a different style of paragraph after that they can also be programmed to the ultralight, even if they were working properly before styling that paragraph with the certainty of preset. If I change the font manually style to what it is supposed to be, the "+" - sign only appears next to the paragraph styles in the paragraph styles. Styles of police, UltraLight and the style of play seem to be considered compliant with the paragraph style.

I created several passages until I encountered this error and they have no change, and display right. There is also the number "+" - sign next to their paragraph in the window styles paragraph styles. I can also change the paragraph style in these paragraphs, and nothing strange happens. It works very well in these frameworks of related texts. So it could be a problem with linked texts executives newly created, I suppose.

I have two styles of paragraph for each goal, one for a dark and the other for a light background. They are named as follows: "[purpose] (black) ' and (brilliant) [purpose]", so that they begin with the same word pairs (I don't know, but maybe that's the key?).» None of my paragraph styles is actually St. to UltraLight. As I wrote, I had no problems with these styles two days ago, when I created them or yesterday. They began to occur today.

I hope someone can help me. Thank you in advance.

First thing to check is if a character Style is applied.

  • Problems with character and paragraph styles!

    Hello

I have a problem to inDesign that I don't normally.

(I work on a macbook pro)

I'm adding a text in a template document. I have two character styles and the paragraphstyles.

    This is how I work:

I place my text I have the text box. (placing a word document) First I get all of the italicized words in the text placed and they give a character style: italic. Then, I want to give a definition to the whole text. It is a 'regular' from the same font of type version. When I do that, all of the text get this pink-ish marking meens that the text has not been completely changed the style AND a little plus (+) next to the paragraph style accurs. Normally I just press alternative (alt) as I click the paragraph style and thus cancels the problem. BUT when I do that now all the text becomes italic - witch is not in the selected paragraph style. Why?

I'm really lost how can I solve this problem - I don't want to create a new document because it is a model that I use each month for a magazine and normally it works.

Would be - this code in the word document? Or what?

    Thank you!

    best,

    Sara

  • Paragraph style does not take into account the style options

I'm changing the style to a paragraph style options in InDesign CS6, but the changes are not applied to text that uses this paragraph style.

My paragraph style is called copy, and it of Helvetica Neue (TT), size 10 pt and pt 12 leading. I open the window Options of paragraph for the style Style and change the size 8pt and leading him to 9,6 pt; However the text does not change. Even if I save these Options in paragraph Style and then re - open this window again, the window shows the new values. There is also no "+" that displays next to the paragraph style of copy in the paragraph Styles Panel, so it is not substitutions.

If I replace the style of paragraph copy by manually changing the size and head, the changes are applied to the text, so I don't think that there is a limitation of Helvetica Neue invovled.

    Any idea?

A common reason for this is that a character style has been applied to the whole paragraph in addition to the paragraph style.

  • Paragraph style > apply... then next > keyboard shortcut?

    Hi all

I am trying to create a keyboard shortcut for:

"Apply (paragraph style name) then next.

But can seem to find it in the options keyboard shortcuts window.

I usually get to this command by selecting a few paragraphs, and then control-click on the style in the paragraph Panel. A shortcut would be much faster.

I've attached a screenshot of the menu with the command that I'm looking to make a shortcut.

  • Automatically apply "next paragraph Style...". "in place of the text

I want to import an Excel (arrow) line 8 500 spreadsheet into InDesign and have it add the necessary number of pages and text related frameworks can flow text AND format her, lines spare in 1 2 paragraph styles. I can do everything until it automatically formatting the text. Paragraph Styles are set up for "Style of next paragraph...". "but it doesn't seem to work on the text. Can anyone help?

I don't know if this can be done with a table, which is probably what you get from placing your excel file. A table Style might work.

If you convert a table to text, however, you can select all, right-click on the name of the first style that you need in the paragraph styles Panel, and then choose apply and following style.

  • How can I get the first line of a paragraph style indent, but others not in withdrawal

I created a style of paragraph indented on the first line of each paragraph. In most of the books, at the start of the first line of a chapter, this line is not indented while the rest are. Is there a way to set up in InDesign CS3? Is the only way to make this work is to manually go out the tab at the start of each chapter?

    2 paragraph styles.

1 paragraph style has no dash

    2nd paragraph style has dash

set "next style" in 1st paragraph for paragraph 2e style style

the "next style" value in the style of paragraph 2 to "even".

    Existing text.

    Select all of the text

Right-click on the 1 paragraph style and select apply style then next style.

  • How to create a numbered list paragraph style?

You know what you would think it would be simple to make a numbered list paragraph style.  I created a new paragraph. style is then in the bullets and numbers on the style. Here, I chose dial. When I applied it in 11 paragraphs each begins with 1.

If I go to the toolbar at the top and click numbered list market then it works as expected. My style of "Numbered list", and then has a +, 'Redefining the Style' is grey so I can redefine to try to fix it.

    What I am doing wrong?

BTW, I also want to use a style of tank inside it for the first line, which is the main point of the ball being made (small caps/bold) < paragraph return > then, normal text for the rest of this bullet

    Thank you

You are also asked to do the first line "BOLD". You indicate that it is its own paragraph, so you'll want a paragraph style that includes character attributes and the attributes of type numbered list while you're there. You use character styles only if there is more than one style in the paragraph which is not the case here. And then create a paragraph style second which is indented and non-bold for text "complementary." If you skillfully use the tags 'next paragraph style', you can have styles replacing automatically as you type, then you can apply styles to an entire list with a single command using the context menu command "style Apply, then next style." So, in short, I would use three paragraph styles:

1 FirstNumberedList style (resets the paragraph style counter next is number 1, "BOLD", "Description")

Style of description (withdrawal, non-fat, is paragraph style following "NumberedList").

2 NumberedList style (continue the numbering, "BOLD", is style of following "Description" paragraph)

    Style (even before) description

3 NumberedList style (the same as before)

    Style description... etc.

To apply all the styles on a typical previously part of the text in one: select the entire list, and then Ctrl-click on the 'FirstNumberedList' style in the palette paragraph styles, and then choose "Apply"FirstNumberedList"then next Style." The first paragraph will be in the FirstNumberedList format, and all of the following in your choice will have a format based on the "next paragraph style" of the previous paragraph.

  • You can automate assigning a different color in the paragraph styles to each character?

    Hello

I am trying to find a way to create a paragraph style that will apply a different color to each letter automatically (to avoid having to change each character by hand.) like this:

    productrange.jpg

Maybe it's not possible with styles, but if anyone has any other tips would be great. See you soon!

    Rosie

If you want to keep the order of the colors in your RED letters > PURPLE > GREEN you have to exclude white space and choose 'Letters' instead of 'characters '.

In your case after the Green letter 'Y', the next letter 'V' should be red, but it's Purple

  • best judgment for paragraph styles, object styles and character styles

I want to learn the criteria difference and use of paragraph styles, object styles and character styles. I know how to use them, but know about the best judgment and context, when you use would be better. Can anyone recommend links? I've been using adobe. Please don't suggest books.

    Paragraph styles are whole paragraphs.

Character styles are letters or isolated words. Do not use the long of an entire paragraph. Do not set all the attributes, only those who are different for the properties of the paragraph Style. Unlike Quark Xpress, in InDesign are character Styles used only for the difference of isolated words.

Paragraph styles can include the character automatically Style: Styles, GREP, nested Styles, initial letters, chips automatic & numbers and line styles.

Object styles , set the frame of the object. They include separate definitions of all of the object, the stroke and fill.

Object styles can also be applied to images in a frame and groups.

Object styles may also include in the following paragraph Style and a style of paragraphs in automatic way.

Object styles have several categories, you can choose which category is relevant to apply. For example, it is possible to apply the first style object to give the stroke and fill and apply a different object style to format the corners only and then apply the next. (With this method last only the applied object Style is linked).

Styles of the opportunity to make global changes in a document. If you build in a smart way, they are a huge time saver. They can be stored in the CC libraries or libraries with objects that are applied to them. If you have created once these styles, you can use them again, and with one or two clicks, you can make their own to new document.

My recommendation: the habit of Styles, name them always with the same names that it helps you to be accustomed to them and to work faster, much faster.

There are more models: Table Styles, Styles of cell, the Master Pages and color chart.

  • Cannot find the paragraph style, which is apparently in use

    Hello.

I'm working on a document with the text that I have imported the word. After you have applied all my character and paragraph styles, I check to see if there are styles original Word still in use. Can I do a search/replace for those still persistent and change them to mine. There is a paragraph style, named normal, what don't get me. It seems to be in use - when I try to remove it, he asks what style should be used to replace it. It shows also upward on the Panel of cross references when I try to create a new cross reference. I tried to change its definitions to something with the big guy and a strong color, so I could find it easily on the pages, but not luck. When I use find/replace to the style, I get the message "cannot find match". I even tried the police search of the style, I do not use on my styles, but nothing appears. Am I missing something?

    Thank you.

The next thing to try would be exporting to IDML. See remove minor corruption by exporting

Is it possible to set up a net of paragraph or another property to automatically produce this behavior across all blocks of text containing these paragraph styles?
