  I malaware bytes, antiviruis and avast superspy, oh and CCleaner. I use Mozilla Firefox.

  Please you can proceed as follows: -.

  • Click Start, and then click on run
  • Then, in the run box, type devmgmt.msc and press enter
  • Make a note of all the units have an exclamation against them - including system devices - and tell me what they are in your next reply
  • Also to make a note of all devices listed in the other devices section (click on the + to expand this section)
  • In addition, Please enlarge the display of the maps section (click on plus the sign +) and tell me what is stated here

  It seems that my problem is solved.
  I removed a lot of the years of updates then run my drive setup and turned off and went to bed.
  When I turned on this morning I had to install updates. It was the only thing I was worried, and as this seems to be fixed, I am glad I use Firefox as my browser.

  I installed Speccy and he ran and it shows as running windows updates and it works correctly.

  What happens and what do you see when you try to open the system restore?

  When you say things "did not work", we need to know which "did not work" means exactly... I get an error message, nothing seems to happen, the system crashes, etc.

  Try answering the following questions, the better you can:

  Maybe someday the dialog box 'ask a question' forums XP will ask these questions automatically when a new thread is started so I don't have to ask every time.  It might even be possible to solve a problem in a single response when enough information is provided.

  Please provide additional information on your system:

  What is your system brand and model?

  What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

  The afflicted system has a CD/DVD drive work?

  You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

  What you see you don't think you need to see?

  What do not you think that you should see?

  If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

  Try to run this program in your usual account, then copy and paste the result in a response.   As far as I KNOW, Microsoft is not an add-on for Firefox can be opened from Excel in Firefox. It may or may not work properly depending on whether this Web site uses a MIME type for files it delivers.

  Another way to handle that would be via Open Office or free agency; both are open source (free) that allows to display files XLS (Excel) , and both programs have a Mozilla browser plugin to allow Firefox to open the 'Calc' of these programs.
