  • White white icons on the desktop, bar of tasks & files

So as the title says, most of my shortcut icons is turned to 'record' white icons by default. This happened after a certain program called Registry Booster crashed Mid-process. Uniblue support recommended to restore the backup of the registry of the RB itself or a system restore. I tried both and it does not solve the issue. (OS: Windows 7 Ultimate)

Since then, I scoured the web for a solution and have tried the fixes suggested elsewhere. Among those who are the parameters manually, shortened reconstruction iconcache.db and using an integrated Windows spell bug (the name escapes me now), nothing is. I also tried an installation (well, 'upgrade' as they say now) repair of the BONE, which did nothing.

To be more specific about the problem, all shortcuts pointing to files of application or files turn to 'white sheets', as seen here: http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/4510/screenztx.png trash icon is normal for any reason whatsoever, and all shortcuts pointing to a file (for example, .pdf or .mp3) also look good. To be clear, all of the shortcuts function , it's just the appearance which is buggy.

It seems that the fault must lie somewhere in the registry, but I'm not familiar enough with it to know where exactly. So if someone could suggest one alternative other than wiping the drive clean (I don't have a handy external HD, so I'm not looking forward to burning 20 DVDs for all of my files...), it would be greatly appreciated :)

Reconstruction IconCache.db worked for me, if I stop the first Explorer (it did not for me if I don't): http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/d5efec0c-e967-4127-b217-15da34d7fb00/icon-problem-in-windows-7?forum=w7itproui

  • Internet leader (Links) one-able to remove from the desktop search bar?

I seem to be impossible to remove internet files that appear in the section 'drop down' in the search box that assign you to the desktop. (By searching for the box, that I mean where you press F3 on your desktop, when Vista and it appears).

I started to type a term akin, hover over it and press DELETE, but it will not erase.

Internet history is quite clear and I also tried the AutoComplete historydeletion so I do not know what to do?

Any help is better than nothing.

    Hello ojtubb4,

You are probably using the toolbar of the address bar. In addition, you probably see the programs recently and the items that appear in the start menu. If you want to clear history, simply:

    • Right click on the task bar > click Properties
    • Click on Start menu tab
Under the heading privacy, uncheck the two boxes:
    1. Store and display recently opened in the start menu programs
    2. Store and display of recently opened items in the start menu and the taskbar
    Click OK
    Hope this helps

  • I installed windows 7 and the desktop icons and bar tasks are enormous

    Original title: Windows 7

I installed windows 7 and the desktop icons and bar tasks are enormous, go to Web pages, I have to use the scrollbar at the bottom of page to see the other half of the page - he said could also be a driver problem, but don't know what I'm looking for - someone can help?

    Hello

Yes, well part of the problem from the point of view of Dell is the only "acceptable" operating system for the Office of series 4600 XP. So they have no drivers 'official' for any function of Windows 7!

But first I need more information on the video card. Try this (on the Dell site): 4600 system is supplied either with the built-in car video or a dedicated real card video.  You should know that you got.  Right-click of your mouse on the desktop, click on Properties in the next area, you see.  This will bring you into the display properties.  Now click on settings at the top right of this next area, click Next on the advance .  Now, click on the adapter on the top.  Just below the upper on this last box, you will see your listed video adapter.

You will need this information, regardless of where you get help. My best recommendation is that you go to the community of Dell and after a question here. Someone may have already found one, but there is nothing official since the operating system is not officially supported.

I'm sorry, there is nothing more I can do.

    Kind regards

  • a black bar appears on the desktop

Recently, a black appeared on the desktop. It does not appear on the windows form, just when I'm on the web. I have windows 8. The bar is right in the upper left corner and when you open a browser there. I use google chrome and the bar is just large enough to cover the tab, the only thing that shows the tab is the X. can someone help me get rid of this?

In the answer box, there is an icon to click on which allows you to display an image of what you see.   This procedure may be useful to take advantage of in this case.

Try these options, as far as possible and see if this black bar disappears.
