On Satellite A105 - S2131 factory restore

I have a series of Toshiba Satellite A105 - S2131. I'm in the need to do a factory restore, but I don't have a restore disc, because I never saw when I got the computer, and when I tried to create a floppy disk to the computer that it does, I get an error that says in cannot find the file to create the disc. Now I don't know what I can do to make the factory restore.

Any help would be great.

Thank you

Hello

For me, there is a clear situation you need to order the new recovery media by the nearest authorized service provider.
But you have another way to get own laptop preinstalled, use CD original Microsoft facilities. All the drivers, tools and utilities, you can find and download from Toshiba support site.

Just a quick question. How can I restore my Toshiba Satellite C660 to factory settings? I have no disk recovery etc., and there is nothing on the PC I need to back up. Just a simple factory to its original settings restore,

  • Satellite A660 Factory Restore problems

I have a Satellite A660 Ref. PSAW3A-14V062 delivered pre-installed with Win 7 not provided, but a hidden partition with disk recovery files.

Decided to do a restore to factory from scratch but ends of disk errors. Removed the HD and connected to another computer.

Using Acronis Disk Director, I copied the hidden partition (HDDRECOVERY) to another drive and then formatted the drive and copied the partition hidden in it and reinstalled to the laptop.
Downloaded an ISO image and tried to install it from DVD but received the message that windows cannot be installed on the HARD disk that the drive is about to fail.

Bought new HARD drive and copied the partition hidden for her.
I then tried to install from the DVD, but kept getting errors about unable to find files, after ISO more several downloads and burn 5 different DVD the furthest I got was the screen where it is "files", this remains at 0% and nothing else.

I then tried a factory restore using the "hold 0 during startup", but when I took out the key pressed 0 when the Toshiba start screen showed that nothing happened.

There was a small Partition 'System' on the original HARD drive I have has not copied. I have a few questions.

    (1) the "System" partition did not the files needed to start the factory restore and if so is there anywhere I can download these files?

    (2) probably a topic for another thread, but no clue as to why I have so many problems with ISO files.

Cheers and sorry for the long-winded explanation.

The installation of any recovery is quite complicated. It is designed to avoid a kind of manipulation so original recovery image can be installed either using recovery DVDs or HARD disk recovery facility which must be created with Toshiba recovery disc creator tool.

To be honest, the whole story is complicated enough, but what confuses me, is
    > Decided to do a restore to factory from scratch but ends of disk errors
If I understand you right, you have created a drive recovery, right? What exactly happens?
You can use this drive with new HARD drive?

This method with files recovery to cope with the new HARD drive does not work. You will not be able to access and begin HARD recovery disk image installation.

If you have a new HDD only how to install the original Toshiba recovery image is to use the recovery DVD disc.

  • For Satellite C660 factory restore

I installed windows 7 pro on my laptop which made my longer laptop for start and stop time down and little slow. now I just want to go back to the factory restore, how can I do this. the pre-installed recovery partition is not show in "my computer".

    Thank you very much

You cannot start after installation of operating system HARD drive recovery clean facility more.
You can do this via recovery DVD only.

Did you create this disc by following the advice of Toshibas rappelling recovery or document s user manual?

If you have this drive please use it for recovery image installation. If you n t have it you have a big problem today.

  • Satellite A500 - factory restore

    Hiya

I was wondering if someone can help me.

I had no end of problems with my laptop with one thing and another, and for these last months, I had a problem with my windows install. I can not install, download or update anything because it says that there is an error with the installation program. I tried various things to try and fix this, but think that the only thing for me to do now is to do a factory restore.

The problem is its asking me a password that I don't have. Is there a way to get around this?

    Thank you very much

PS - or maybe someone can suggest a way to fix the installer: o)

If you use the Windows login password, use the same. If not, put your account without password name and click Next.

  • Error in device IO after installing Vista on Satellite A105-S334

    Need help please!
Recently, I did a full restore of my computer Toshiba Satellite laptop.
My computer came pre-installed with Windows XP Media Center edition.
I had upgraded to Windows Vista, which was one of the worst computer decisions I had made.

That's why... I did the full restore with the factory restore disk that came with my laptop.
Before restoring, my CD player worked fine.

Now all I get is an error message "the request cannot be performed because of an i/o device error."
When I put in the disc, I can hear it turn. I see even my mouse cursor will turn to a disc as if she was about to open the drive, but the error message.

I tried to reinstall the driver... no luck. I also tried to change IDE properties that don't seem to work either.

    Someone please help!
If it helps, I have a rug * drive his DVD Ram UJ - 841 S Satellite A105-S334. I can't boot any CD, however, if a disc contains a few documents, it will open up very well!

    Help, please.

Stand by. I'm a bit confused.
If I understand you right you can use the drive as a boot device and boot media is readable, but you cannot use the drive just under the operating system. Am I right about that?

Have you noticed this problem right after the clean install of OS? Did you remove some pre-installed software components? Did you install additional software for burning CD/DVD?

  • DVD drive is dead - l need to reinstall XP Satellite A105

    Hello world

My wife went on vacation in Hawaii, and while she was missing, its Satellite A105 (is no more under warranty with a dead DVD player) started to malfunction to the point where XP where freeze at startup.

I tried everything I could, but it wouldn't boot.
So finally I took a DVD USB drive formatted the drive with killdisk and tried to use the recovery disk to at least get the operational unit. Problem is that the unit does not complete the installation I get the following error:

    Windows cannot find c:/bin/errordialog.exe

I thought it was the disk so I cleaned it and still the same thing, since I was a student, I had access to XP pro from the msdn network so I got a copy and still the same error.
I don't have a big enough USB flash drive, and the laptop doesn't have a floppy so I'm stuck with no way to restore the operating system... Needless to say that the wife is not happy with me!

I managed to get Linux installed without problem, but my wife wants his laptop back to xp and will probably hate me until I can correct what I did. Help, please!

    TIA

As far as I know it s is not possible to boot from the CD/DVD USB drive and reinstall the operating system by using this procedure.

I would recommend therefore to replace the CD/DVD drive with a new, then boot from the Toshiba Recovery CD.

The CD/DVD drive is an essential device for laptop and it is worth having a what functions and trouble free work.

    Welcome them

  • ENERGY SAVING does not work! Satellite A105

Please read very carefully, as I tried to make it as detailed as possible. I had this problem before, and when I installed the new BIOS driver, it fixed itself. I'm not so lucky this time. Also, please AVOID recommending to use my recovery CD, because I know, it is possible to solve this problem without it, and the restore CD is the easy/practical answer on how to solve this problem.

OK, so I just installed the new BIOS software, and now my TOSHIBA Power Saver won't work. I use a Satellite A105-S4284 on Windows XP SP2. When I start the computer, I get this message:

    TPSODDCtl.exe - Ordinal not found
The 21 ordinal not found in dynamic link TPSMainCtl.dll library.
    Ok

I know that this refers to the power of Eve, but I don't know what to do about this.

In addition, I searched other forums on this issue. When I open the control panel and switch to Classic view, TOSHIBA Power Saver icon is there. I double click on it, and I get this message:

Cannot open, as "TOSHIBA Power Saver" is not running.
In order to run it, please open "Power Options" in the Control Panel, then choose "TOSHIBA Power Saver" in the list box "Power schemes" on Page "power schemes".
    Ok

I open power options, and toshiba power sleep mode is already selected. I tried to apply another and switching back, but this did not help.

I tried to reinstall both the power of Eve AND the common modules on the site of TOSHIBA drivers, and which did not help. I tried to uninstall the energy saver all together, and I get this error message:

Cannot locate the Setup log 'C:\Program Toshiba Saver\uninst.isu. Uninstallation will not continue.

I opened the saving folder in the location above, and there are two files: TPSTrace (a plain text file) and TPwrSetup. $$$ (Note: the ' $' are not mistakes, that's what he said). The plain text file contains this message:

A fatal error has occurred. The program will end. Code: 0x45A location: TPSDel.cpp (230)

Help, please! Thanks in advance for all time!

Looks like something in your system is really messed up. Because you won´t be advised to recover your machine, so I can't give you any suspicion because that would REALLY be the one and the only option to solve this problem.

If some software Toshiba uninstall NOT etc then it won´t repair itself, or it can be sorted out by re-installled or force too install apps...
Maybe you make you a few remarks and then save your files in order to recover your machine?

Would be the best method. Otherwise: good luck!

  • Re: Satellite A105 - recovery DVDs cannot start

    Hello

Satellite A105-S4064 my boss was a serious problem, the only solution was to do a restore of the operating system. I have inserted the first DVD and started the process. He then asked for the second disc, after some time, there was an error that it could not continue.

After another chance, I got a new error when I start with disk 1, the error was "NTLDR is missing", then I tried with a different Windows XP CD which also impossible to format the HARD drive.

The HARD drive would be defective beyond repairs? Please help me, summer work on during these last days. Thanks in advance

I agree with you and think that this problem occurs due to faulty HARD drive. Try to get a new one and start installation of recovery.

You have done the right thing and tried OS installation with facilities of Microsoft CD, but you can see that the problem persists. It must be because of faulty HARD drive. I really don't see any other explanation.

Hi I'm new to this forum. Since the "password" problem and reset the bios, I have two things to hurt.

Sometimes, when the captain is restored it restarts itselff, sometimes not.

But will always be with battery. Resulting in a dead battery.

The operating system loads then freezes.

I tried safe mode and ran the error checking and defragmentation. I tried the config sys and when the system is loaded, then freezes.
I have the week last to system load and have an internet connection. But it froze again the next day.

I can't get a consistent performance. I have windows xp media center. I've recently upgraded ram to 4 GB.
What are my options? I lost the original restore disks.

I'm ready to reformat the hard drive if necessary.

    > I recently upgraded ram to 4 GB.
Have you checked if the laptop would freeze using the old RAM modules?
If this isn't the case, then you should check this!

In many cases of bad, no compatible or defective modules could cause these issues

  • Need drivers for Satellite A105

  • Windows XP would not start on the Satellite A105-4324

    Hello everyone.
    I have a Satellite A105-4324
Yesterday my laptop locked up all of a sudden. When I went to turn it back on it just kept restarting. It would allow me to start it in safe mode. I got a blue screen with a message that says "stop: C0000221 {bad image checksum}.
The gdi32.dll image is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the checksum calculated. »
I have read online and discovered that I needed to replace the file GDi32.dll in Windows XP. Because I only have the recovery disk, I tried to restore the system without changing the HD partitions. After the recovery of the 2nd run drive, I got the message saying that it was the creation of the file of the CRC. And then I got an error message saying there was an error in recovery and turn off the computer. Now when I turn on the computer, the Windows XP screen comes on briefly and then the screen goes black. It does nothing else.
I try to understand what I am doing wrong. If necessary I will bring the computer back to out of the box, but I need the files off the laptop first before doing this. I can't lose the files. Is it possible to fix this or is it possible to move the files on my desktop, even if now, the laptop computer does not have Windows XP? Is it possible to simply borrow from someone of another real Windows XP disk and load like that without losing files?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello

Are you sure that need file GDi32.dll in Windows XP?

I searched a bit and found this document from Microsoft:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326687

According to this MS document this problem may occur if there is a corrupted file in the folder in which Windows is installed and this file is not replaced during installation or one or more of the RAM modules that are installed in your laptop is faulty, or the RAM configuration is incompatible.

So I recommend simply formatting (!) the disk HARD whole, erase all the available partitions and try to reinstall the operating system!
You said you tried to install the operating system but without formatting the HARD drive. I think that the whole HARD drive must be formatted!

The restore CD contains all the necessary files and drivers.
But as you know the disk HARD formatting will erase all the files stored on the HARD drive. Sorry, but I don t see is possible to save the data.
Hmm, maybe you can save the data by removing the HARD drive and connect via external USB HDD controller to another computer.

If installation will not work, I guess that memory module is damaged.
In this case, you should check the simple modules and if necessary you need to replace!

Do you think that the guarantee is valid? If Yes, you must contact the ASP in your country because all replacements to be free!

    Good luck

  • Factory restore

I recently inherited a MacBook Pro. It runs on Mac OS X Version 10.6.4 Intel Core 17. In my view, that it was made in 2010.

It will not update the operating system. Otherwise, it works great. I was told to hold the r/control/power button will restore the system, but it did not work. I believe that the factory restore will solve the problem of update, but I don't know how to do this.

Before purchasing a used computer, you must have run Apple Diagnostics or the Apple Hardware Test, whichever is applicable.

The first thing to do after the acquisition of the computer is to wipe the internal drive and install a new copy of Mac OS X. You - not the original owner, must do. Changes made by Apple over the years have made this very complex seemingly simple task.

How would you do it depends on the model, and if you already have another Mac. If you are not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then, find the model on this page to see which version of the OS was initially installed.

It is dangerous and may be illegal to use a computer with software installed by a previous owner.

    1. If you do not have another Mac

    a. If the machine comes with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a Snow Leopard install disc (OS X 10.6) retail boxed and "Shrink Wrap" on the Apple Store or a reputable dealer - no eBay or something of the sort. If the machine is very old and has less than 1 GB of memory, you need to add in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory can take, according to the technical specifications.

    (b) if the machine comes with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that accompanies it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for a MacBook Air. You should have received the media of the original owner, but if you do not, order replacements from Apple. A disc at retail, or the gray discs of another model, will not work.

To start from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, and then restart the computer and hold the C key to start ringing. Release the button when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.

    c. If the machine comes with OS X 10.7 or later version, you don't need media. It should start in the mode of Recovery of the Internet when you hold down the key combination option-command-R to start ringing. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe. Note that Mac Pro models turn over end of 2014 (with the box of "cheese grater") cannot use Internet recovery, regardless of what version of OS they shipped with. The Mac Pro round (2014 or later) can use it.

    d. some models 2010-2011 comes with OS X 10.6 and received a firmware update after 10.7 was released, allowing them to use Internet recovery. If you have one of these models, you cannot reinstall 10.6 even from the original media, and recovery of the Internet won't work either without Apple ID of the original owner, in this case, contact Apple technical supportor take the machine to an Apple Retail Store or other authorized service provider to have an operating system installed.

    2. If you do not have another Mac

If you already have another Mac which has been upgraded in the App Store to the version of Mac OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use the recovery disk wizard to prepare a USB device, and then starts the new Mac of it by pressing the C key to start ringing. Alternatively, if you have a backup of OS X Time Machine 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a time Capsule or other network device), you can start by holding down the option key and clicking in the row of icons that is displayed. Note that if your other Mac has never updated in the App Store, you can not use this method.

3 partition and install OS X

a: If you see a lock screen trying to boot from the support installation or recovery mode, then a firmware password has been defined by the previous owner, or the machine was locked remotely via iCloud. You will need to either contact the owner or by the machine to an Apple Retail Store or other provider of service to be unlocked. May asked you proof of ownership.

    b. launch disk utility, and then select the internal drive icon - no volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a partition table GUID with the volume of data in Mac OS extended (journaled) format. This permanently deletes all existing data on the disk.

    c. an unusual problem can occur if all the following conditions apply:

OS X 10.7 or later version has been installed by the previous owner

The boot volume has been encrypted with FileVault

You start in recovery mode (that is, not of a 10.6 disk installation)

In this case, you will not be able to unlock the volume or partition the drive without the FileVault password. Ask for advice or see this discussion of the CSA.

    d. after partitioning, quit disk utility and run the OS X Installer. If you install a version of OS X was acquired from the App Store, you will need the Apple ID and password you used. When the installation is complete, the system reboots automatically in the Migration Wizard, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have all the data to be transferred, it is usually the best time to do it.

    e. run the software update and install all available Apple system updates. To upgrade to a major version of Mac OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can not keep an improved version that was installed by the first owner. He or she cannot legally transfer to you, and without the Apple ID, you will be able to update in a software update or reinstall, if it becomes necessary. Is the same for all App Store products that the previous owner installed, you will need to buy.

    4. other issues

    a. If the original owner "accepted" bundled iLife (iPhoto, iMovie and Garage Band) applications in the App Store so that he or she could put up-to-date, IRREVOCABLY linked to that Apple ID and you can download them without having to buy them. Reportedly, the Mac App Store Customer Service sometimes issued codes of reimbursement for these applications to second owners who asked.

    (b) if the previous owner has not Deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you will not be able to authorize immediately under your username. In this case, you will have either to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support.

    c. When you try to create a new iCloud account, you could get a failure message: "Account limit reached." Apple imposes a limit of life of three configurations by device iCloud account. Erasure of the unit does not reset the limit. You can always use iCloud account that was created on another device, but you will not be able to create a new. Contact iCloud Support for more information. Configuration limit does not apply to the Apple ID accounts used for other services, such as iTunes and Mac App Store or iMessage. You can create as many accounts you want.
