No its w/WinXP Pro (Dual-boot system)

I have 4 computer Pentium Gateway w/WinXP Pro and motherboard that has never worked for her so I added a sound card and that worked. Then a friend added a dual-boot system (Ubuntu) and installed the drivers that showed me that the sound of the motherboard works with Ubuntu/Linux, but not for XP. Now I'm stuck change between MB & sound card. How to do his job on my MB with XP? Thank you.

You still have a problem the appliance in msinfo32?

What the Manager device, is it still show something in the other devices section?

Remove the card from its complement and distributed to msinfo32/Device Manager and see if the problem is still there.

When you reported it as an E-4100, was it of msinfo32 or from another source, such as a label on the case?

There is a "Download hardware detection' link on the page of the gateway I provided above, what happens if you try to update material from this link?

You can also try Windows Update as a last resort.

Hello, I have a partition of windows xp and windows vista in my laptop Acer. (Pre-installed Vista and XP as a secondary operating system).

    > Don't install SP3 will be erase all content of Windows XP?
    > Is affected the partition of Windows Vista if I download Windows XP SP3 of XP SP2 Partition?
    > If I download the SP3 for Windows XP in the Microsoft.com site, it needs to be bootable and recorded in a CD or just run the installer from the hard disk automatically after installation?

    Thanks to all in advance!

You're off topic of the Forum, you have published, which is dedicated to the beta Version of Microsoft Security Esentials

However, I moved the yoru post.

You can update to SP3 on a system XPSP2 dual boot Vista residence. You can not install XP * after * Vista for a Dual Boot system unless you use a 3rd Boot Manager part.
Run the update to SP3 does not erase anything, it updates the XP system components.
There will be no impact to your Vista installation on your system to dual-boot PC.
SP3 is an update. It downloads an installation program analyzes your installation of XP and downloads the bits necessary to update to SP3 then install them after you have saved the files it will replace. You should be able to get SP3 easily by going to Windows Update in XP.

  • Windows XP does not start in a dual-boot system

I have a Windows XP and Linux Mint 10 Julia on separate partitions in a dual boot system. Windows has been installed first, followed by Linux. Initially, the two worked, then, for some reason any I had to reinstall Linux. Now I can't get into Windows.
I can't enter the recovery by using the Windows CD Mode if that helps.
    GIA

booting from cd is not always the best way to start an operating system installed on disk 0, for example drive C.

Yes, the default value for fixboot will always be the first drive to the motherboard, regardless of how many additional hard disks are installed.  It is the way windows is designed to be.  but in all fairness, you can start windows via a USB key with recent technology created by hp.com

also, if the disk check found a few errors then it means that there are corrupt or missing files.

so, at the command prompt go ahead and Run fixmbr, fixboot, bootcfg /rebuild and a chkdsk/r

You can also type help at the command prompt to get the details of the above.

  • . PST to Outlook 2007 (including IMAP) can be shared on a dual boot system Windows XP/Win7?

I'm migrating from Win XP Pro/32 for Win 7 Pro/64.  I dual-boot between the two while I migrate and test applications.  During the test, I would like to have Outlook 2007 use the same mail/calendar/contacts /... on both systems.  Among the files of e-mail are IMAP which seems to make the process more difficult.  Is this possible?

    Thank you!

This can happen absolutely not.  I do it.

Before you do anything, make a copy of your default PST.  Nothing of what I describe should affect your data somehow, but you can't be too sure.

You don't have to worry about IMAP accounts.  IMAP accounts always have their own sets of folder, but given that the data are kept on the server, two prospects will see the same data.  In order to see your default folders, then Outlook closed (on a partition), move the PST file to a folder that can see the two partitions.  I have two partitions (XP and 7 on the other) on my main drive and I put my PST in a folder on a second disc.  After you move the PST file, start Outlook.  He will complain that it cannot see its records and give you a file browser window.  Navigate to the new location of your default PST, select it and click OK.  Outlook open and look exactly as it did before.

Close Outlook and start the other partition.  Open the mail applet in the control panel (you may need to enable the 32-bit Control Panel), click the data files button, click Add and browse to the shared PST file.  Select it and click OK.  Now, click on set as default to make the place of delivery.  This will make the default folders (calendar, Contacts, Inbox, etc.) Similarly to the second partition.  Close the control panel and starting Microsoft Outlook.  You should see exactly what you saw on the other partition.

You will also see the old PST, if you have one configured and you can move all data you want form saved the old default files in the new default folders by opening each folder, by selecting all the data with Ctrl + A and moving the selection.  (You can use copy instead if you want to have the original PST as a partial backup.)  For the calendar, you must select a table as per prior category view works Ctrl + A. • Dual-boot system

    Hello

If I have my laptop HP G60-114EA, rameau at Christmas would be dual boot it void the warranty?  I would like to start double with Ubuntu Linux.

If the dual boot your laptop with Linux it is strongy has suggested that you

    (1) replace your hard drive and reinstall your HP operating system since the discs of recovery and then put up a dual-boot configuration with Linux. Keep the original just autour hard disk in case you need to return your laptop for repairs under warranty and you avoiding a chore. The reason of oether to keep the original drive in its state of OEM is the recovery partition will remain blank.

    (3) use a product like Acronis Home Image and create an image that is stored outside of the C and D partitions.

    (2) create a game (or even two) of HP recovery disks.

Your question seems to be a fairly common for advanced users who have portable computers still covered by a factory warranty. Take a read of this article and this one.  There seems to be no definitive answer to that of a source of the company, unless an employee of HP, reading the forums would be willing to go out on a limb and answer the question.

  • Upgrade Windows 7 Home/Windows 10 Pro Dual boot computer CPU

I plan on upgrading my CPU to a core of an I5 Quad model, dual Pentium G630. The card mother won't be replaced as it can accommodate a socket LGA-1155. I can also be tempted to replace my current system with a 250 GB SSD drive. It is a dual-boot computer that used to have two installations of Windows 7: it was OEM that came pre-installed, when the computer was purchased, and the other was a retail version. The OEM version updated to win Pro 8, then Win 8.1.1 and finally Windows 10 Pro.

I would wait for activation or problems that this will be a smooth operation?

If so, what might be the complications?

    Thanks for the tips

  • Use EasyBCD 2.0 (beta) for Dual Boot systems

My frustration with the evolution of a XP / XP dual boot to a Windows 7 / XP boot has been resolved in 30 seconds with EasyBCD 2.0. Perhaps, I missed the referemce to a specific level of EasyBCD? This is a beta version, so we need to register (it's free) on the site of neosmart do the download. This version supports an option, when you have Vista OS pre partitions, to create the necessary boot.ini file and copy the NTLDR and NTDETECT.com files required at the root of the Win 7 partition automatically! Suffice to say accept the offered command prompt. So if you have problems with dual boot my recommendation is to search the Forum and the site of NeoSmart areas and download the BETA level. Finally, a happy camper that you can now pass to play with Win 7, while having my old friend XP autour.

  • You need to remove Windows Embedded dual-boot system.

Original title: replacement of the Windows XP boot manager.

    Hello

A few days ago, I installed Windows Embedded Standard on a PC that already had Windows XP on it. But (Windows Embedded) has been installed with a lot of system files missing (Task Manager, System Configuration and even the application to activate Windows was absent).

The Windows boot manager that came with Windows Embedded could not be successful because I could not access "msconfig". It doesn't even have a "repair" advanced option.

"Windows Embedded would be useless in 30 days, so I formatted the disc that contains the" management of the computer "in Windows XP.

But Windows Boot Manager Embedded stayed with Windows Embedded as one of the options (Option low said "Earlier Version of Windows". This driver for the Windows XP boot manager).

Is there a way I can get rid of him?

    Thank you

    DOM

    Hi Dom,

Did you uninstall normal Windows XP or Windows Embedded Standard?

If you have removed Windows Embedded and normal Windows XP still installed, you can use FIXMBR and FIXBOOT from the Recovery Console to restore the boot loader.

For more information, please visit this link: Description of the recovery Windows XP for power users Console

If you have removed the normal Windows XP and Windows Embedded, you can ask your question in the MSDN forums for assistance.

Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

    Hi nicolefraley,

We recommend you to perform the Startup Repair and check the result. You can also try the following:
    a. access prompt command in the Windows recovery environment (WinRE). (See my previous post to learn how to access WinRE).
    b. type the following command and press ENTER.
    Bootrec /FixMbr
    Bootrec /RebuildBcd
    c. restart the computer and check the result.

  • Remove Vista as a Startup Option on a former player of Dual Boot.

I have a XP - Pro system drive that was previously used in a Dual Boot System (XP - Pro on Partition 1) and Vista on Partition 2.

Vista has been removed, but when the disk is booted, I am always presented with the Question: an earlier version of windows or Vista.

Is there a way to remove the option of Vista and just allow the system to Boot directly in XP - Pro?

    Mick is so fair.

This can make Vista due to its limitations.

The following solution is on the XP Forum and it worked great!

JoseIbarra written in response to my Post:

Your master boot record think you still have Vista.

You can fix this since the XP Recovery Console.

You can start RC since a genuine XP bootable installation CD or make you a CD bootable XP Recovery Console using these instructions:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic276527.html

After booting into the Recovery Console, you should be in this folder:

    C:\WINDOWS

Enter the following command and answer Yes to the warning:

    FIXMBR

Enter the following command and answered in the affirmative:

    Fixboot

Remove the Console CD recovery and type 'Quit' to restart your system.

    Best regards
