No luck turning off hybernation...

I have tried variations on "powercfg.exe h [OR hibernation]" off to disable hibernation to free up space on the C drive, but failed. Any ideas?

Thank you.

[Under XP SP3, Sony Vaio VGN laptop S54B, Japanese Version bought at the Japan]

What happens if you use the interface chart user normal and not a command-line tool?

A. Control Panel > Power Options > Hibernate tab > uncheck the box to > OK
http://www.howtogeek.com/79865/XP-enable-or-disable-hibernation/

or

B. right click on a place empty on the desktop > properties > screen saver > power > Hibernate > uncheck the box to > OK

When you use the powercfg from a command prompt window
powercfg-h off

Do you see a response or error message?  If so, please provide completely, without paraphrasing.

What version of XP (Home, Pro, Media Center)?
Are you logged on as a user with privileges "computer administrator"?

Hi PML,

Thank you for your response.

I've already tried your options A and B, without success.  'Power' or 'Power Management' just didn't occur in the control panel or from the desktop...

Finally, I tried to restart, via F4.  And here, a lot of features that was not put at my disposal, including the management of power supply in the Control Panel, suddenly reappear. What I believe is happened was many functions of program from Sony Vaio that I had disabled years as they ate too much RAM and disk storage space also disabled a few basic functions, or rather, access to these essential functions, such as power and options to the taskbar in the Panel. Unfortunately, it is a common problem with Vaio PCs, I think.

I was then able to disable hibernation and save about 1 GB space on the C drive, I wanted to, but then a new problem occurred: the pc began to sleep/hybernating as soon as I turned on. I played a little with her and she seems to be ~ o ~ k ~ now... I think that it has overheated the session long tinkering.

I use a laptop MSi Win7 for myself, but my son use this Vaio XP [home] older in addition to their shelves, so I really wanted to keep its market well enough for their continued use, like tablets and mobile phones are quite an expense at the moment.

Thanks again for taking the time to make a few suggestions.

See you soon

    Hello

According to your description, the battery provides the laptop with power.
In my opinion there is problem with the battery itself or electronic supply on the motherboard.
I think that it of a failure of battery, but to be 100% sure that the audit of the books is necessary!

The X 200 is a new series of laptop so I'm 100% sure that the guarantee is valid. Am I wrong?

  • Satellite A75 impromptu turning-off (Help!)

    Hello!
Well, I own a Toshiba Satellite A75-S2112 old of almost 4 months.
I bought in the States and moved to Germany, to go to College. So the thing is, my laptop started to turn self about 1 half a month... at this time, was not on a regular basis and well, I decided to ignore it, because it seems to have stopped once I turned off and leave my computer laptop "rest."

But since 2 days ago, the problem is really big. It will be just off; just like that. I thought it might be a horse of Troy, a virus or something, but it is even off the power during Windows startup - just by displaying the "Microsoft Windows XP" logo.

So, what guys do you think it could be? And can it be resolved? It will be as a replacement for laptop, or it'll just be fixed? If Yes, what should I do and where should I apply / send it in Germany?

I'm really worried, because I'm in a foreign country, and I don't know how to get it fixed here. And my laptop is essential during my course of study :(

I have the same time, I'll try to save all my info.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

    Best regards

    Alfonso

    Hi Pierre,.

After reading the description of your problem, my first thought is that your laptop is overheating. A thermal trigger will work if it detects that the CPU is not too hot. This will cause the cell to lose power instantly, i.e. no controlled stop.

I would recommend to clear any dust and accumulated debris from the heatsink to the CPU. Given that your unit is still under warranty, I will try to use a vacuum to suck up dust out through the suction fan grids. There are a lot of threads about this problem on this forum.

If this not solves your problem, do not try to disassemble the radiator yourself, as this would negate your warranty.

You can find your nearest Toshiba approved repairman since Toshiba Germany website:

    http://www.Toshiba.de/index.asp

Finally, make sure that your laptop is always placed so that sufficient air can get into the ventilation system. Indeed, don't put it on your lap or on a soft surface (carpet or upholstery).

    Good luck

  • The AT200 tablet screen turns off

    Help...

I had my AT200 for a little more than 24 hours and the sceen went now empty, but the Tablet is still on, screen is blank, but on and the unit is completely insensitive.

Can not switch it out... don't know what to do now?

    Really disappointed :-(

    Can someone help, please?

    Thank you

    Hi Catherine,
This happened to my Tablet too early. But after that in the past few weeks, my Tablet ran completely without this problem occurring again (after installing a few fix, see below). So there is hope.

Certainly your tablet is at a standstill. A software error has occurred which even turned off the power button.
There are also no way for a hard reset on the AT200 (like removing the battery).

You can try in any case to press the longest power button (5-10 seconds) maybe it helps.

    My solution is:
Let your only Tablet for a few hours. Important: Do not plug the power supply!

After a few hours (I think that mine took about 12 to 20 h) battery will be (nearly) exhausted, and I hope that the material will turn off the tablet at a standstill to save the battery against damage.

At any time, you can try the power switch. I have the Tablet is at a standstill should not react. If the Tablet is turned off, the power led should continue for a second, then turns off. (Because of the battery it won't turn)

Then you can connect the power supply. The power led should go on now, which indicates that the Tablet battery is charged.

After a few minutes you should be able (I hope) back on the shelf. (Leave the power supply connected)

    It worked for me.

Now, of course, an Internet connection is present (active Wifi).
Open the App 'Toshiba Service Station', updates, and then install the hotfix for 3.2.1. (I guess that the Tablet has not already the 4.0? Mine doesn't).

If you get no reaction against the ignition switch after waiting a longer time. Alternatively, you can connect the power supply for a trial. If the power led lights which can be a good indicator that the Tablet is alive again.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite P500 turns off most since re install Windows7

    Hi all

    Toshiba satellite laptop
    series: P
    Model: P500
    Model number: PSPGSE
Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium edition

Following a final crash of the original hard disk, so I changed the drive and performed a complete re-installation of windows7 (an original touch and put my original).
Subsequently I have re installed the driver via the toshiba site (most importantly, so no software supplied automatically with PC purchase), and that all are present according to device (of interrogation or other point of warning) Manager.
More through the touslesdriver.com site, I added their scanning software small told the pilot to missing day or not (so basic but all seems normal...)

Windows of decanting finished and I started to update the drivers, windows out never normally, menu, start, stop, closing the session and after that bogus on "stoppage of work" until the "Blue Shield (about 10 minutes later, a solution or the button works / stop)."
Single point, drivers arrive to their windows or windows installation to restart, but the problem always comes back.

Then in normal mode, no messages or any other information that makes me say that there is a problem, but when close windows here is barattes in a vacuum no solution other than the button walk / stop (I also tried ms config: stop all, same effect).

Now in safe mode gives the change!

Beginning and end of windows that is no problem!

Still in safe mode, the device section driver, then display devices, 'plug and play' shocks only information is that an exclamation mark on 'Security processor loader driver' is not visible outside the safe mode.

No possibility of anything and much too much different information on the net which could help me solve this exclamation point and certainly my problem?

    Hello

I own P500 too, but I use it with the new HARD drive but with the original recovery image (Win7 64 bit) I've had with her. Why have problems such as you, when I can have perfectly installed OS. That do after the installation of recovery image's own upward and the optimization of the OS. I have delete all things I don't no need and turn off all unnecessary processes that can slow down my system.
I m really wondering why you do the same and use OS without a few installation issues.

In any case, after reading your ad I didn t understand what your problem is, but what I can say is follow:
Satellite P500 is fully supported for Win7 so you do not have some third-party software of the part for the detection of drivers and similar useless diagnosis. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities, you can find and download from http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

On this virtual path, I can't tell what your problem and how to fix it. I know, it's that the whole available drivers on the Toshiba download page are tested and are part of the original image recovery.
I think either you should reinstall the OS using original recovery image and remove all the stuff, you need or reinstall Win7 clean and begins to install the drivers, tols and utilities Toshiba download page only.

    Order of installation:
    Windows 7
    Chipset SW installation utility
    Intel Management Engine Interface
    Display driver
    Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver
    TOSHIBA supervisor password utility
    TOSHIBA HW utility

  • NB520 - Wifi and Bluetooth works fine but can not turn off

I bought new toshiba nb 520, almost everything is OK except wifi and bluetooh on the netbook cannot be disabled

I tried FN + F8 to activate the wifi but it does not work at all, the only way to turn off the wifi windows 7 uses the device for disabled Manager

is not everything, bluetooth has the same problem, yes it can be turned off by free config and turn a red light icon in the system tray to show bluetooth is in the off State, but after 2-3 seconds the light become blue and the bluetooh is on

    so the summary is
WiFi = works correctly, but cannot be disabled, except disabled it the windows Device Manager
Bluetooth = works correctly and can be disabled, but it will be swicth on automatically in 2-3 seconds after it turns off

I have tried many solution, I had the netbook bios update, reinstall the driver but still no luck
    can anyone here help me

    Hello

It's really, really strange, I mean the BT and the Wlan can be turned on and off using the Fn + F8 key combination. He s strange that it does not work.

To my knowledge the Fn buttons are controlled by VAP (value added package) and the Support of additional Flash memory card utility BT stack and Wlan driver must be installed.
    I would recommend following:

-Uninstall the driver Wlan and BT stack
-Uninstall the VAP and utility of Flash card support
-Install CCLeaner and clean the registry (CCleaner is a free tool)
-You must restart the computer after each step.
    - Then reinstall the driver Wlan and BT
-Restart and install VAP and Flash cards
-Restart the unit and check if BT and Wlan can be enabled and disabled.

NOTE: Fn + F8 should be pressed several times disabled these functions.

  • 3rd party apps stock tv turns off

I bought an Apple TV 4 and I really like it.

I have a receiver with speakers, and a TV connected to the HDMI port out of the receiver. Apple TV is connected to the receiver with HDMI.

The only problem I have is that I installed two applications of radio to listen to my local radio station, but two of them stutter (IE as the app refresh of the stream after every 5 seconds) when I turn off the TV and the receiver stays on (audio only then hollow speakers connected to the receiver).  All stock apps work well (music, Podcast, sharing of computers/Home). There is also no problem with these two apps as long as the TV.

There is a general problem with 3rd party applications or is it just bad luck so I downloaded have the same problem?

It is not apps, it is because you do not have your on TV.

Users have experienced different results when you try to use the Apple TV for audio only. Some have found it works well, others have found that they need to have the TV on get audio and others have found that they need the TV to start with, but may turn off when the audio starts to play.

I suspect these variations result from the type of connection that the TV offers and therefore may vary depending on the make and model of TV.

  • Turn off the HP help

    Hello

    I have a laptop HP Pavilion Dv6-6b51ea

However, whenever I have pressing F1 I get screens help/assistant HP instead of using Windows 7.

How to recover the F1 key to give me the help Windows to turn off HP help assistant?

    Thank you.

Recently, I decided to finally know how to fix this problem after being tired of accidentally pressing f1 and the opening using HP and windowsill.

I didn't keep the media controls a single key and the functions of brightness of the other keys to turn off the function keys in the BIOS was not the answer for me.

Ultimately, after many forums looking at and seeing people talk about changing the registry and stuff and reading, nothing worked, I tried a few things of my own. I was able to achieve the results that I have desired ME. This solution may be no idea for others, but here's what I did.

I opened the window in question and used the Task Manager to keep the window in a file. I found the HelpPane.exe file in the windows directory, I believe in the system32 folder. I was unable to do anything with the file without first taking ownership of it.

Take in hand I went to right click on the file properties

Then to the Security tab and then click the Advanced button

In the new window that pops up, I went to the owner tab, and then

Clicked on edit where I then changed owner to my windows account

After you apply these changes that I returned to the Security tab in the properties of the window and I gave my total control of the account from the file.

Once this done I move the HelpPane.exe file to another folder for the storage and the F1 button gave me is no problem, the pop up stopped popping up, problem solved for me.

(This could eliminate assistance in other applications or have other side effects, but so far I've had no negative side effects so I don't like it as a file system.)

Good luck and if you try, it is at your own risk.

  • Screen remains black/stop after having turned off to save energy.

I have this problem on two different Porteges with
    Windows 98 Second edition.

They are then handed achieved both and all drivers are
as noted on the internett. And windows 98 is
Standard CD (not the CD from Toshiba). Both have the latest version of the BIOS.

Everything works fine, it's the only
    problem.

In Control Panel-> display->... you can specify
settings/energy savings. I think I turn off screen
After 2 minutes and turn off hard drive 5 minutes.

It works very well. The screen goes black, then I
can relight it by moving the pointer ('mouse').

But if I leave it for a long time and get to him,
then the screen stays black. (This is the problem).

But everything still works fine! ... and
I can do a controlled stop by pressing ctrl-alt-del
ALT - s, while the screen is black.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Hello

Portege models do you have? Because as you have explained, you use the power management MS which isn't one that fits!

You can watch http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com - Driver Downloads If the Toshiba Power Saver is available for your units and W98!

It may be that old W98 Powermanagement has problems with the complex of the portege series material is available on the Toshiba site standby power!

    Good luck

  • Re: Satellite A215-S6820 - computer laptop turns off by itself

I've had this computer for about a year now and it's just recently decided to die 3 days prior to the end of my warranty. Stroke of luck, I thought get fixed and ready to go. I used it for playing games its been quite a nice game until recently machine. I sent 2 times frist time they replace my motherboard pick it up and he didn't stay for more the same 15 last when I ran the game. Returned and all recently got back with more questions I know maybe just to send it back and have it repaired the right but I was wondering if there was a way I can fix it with little or no cost.

Here's what's happening I have raise any game that I have played before top war hammer 40 k 2 series for about 5 minutes then turns off. Sins of a solar empire, a game where game Id nonstop until I pass out have games last 14-15 hours well lets just say that I can't even set up a game more. So I try older games yes I can play em for a while then crash. I think it is a heating problem that initially before he died he destroyed when map chart or something else. It surfing the web even now just seems to run hot then normal.

Should I call and have em it back? I feel bad cause I like Toshiba and I just don't want that they think I'm trying to get a free patch or a new computer or what must be done to repair my laptop. I really like this laptop and products Toshiba Id want just this fix so I can be a killer of happy zombie in left 4 dead again.

    Hello!

That s not all goes well publish your story on your laptop, but I think the same as you. I think the laptop is overheating. You can try to clean it with a jet of compressed air. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans.

If it doesn't work you have to bring this back to the authorized service provider. You told them that the laptop freezes in games? Maybe they don t have tested this so I have contacted the provider of service again.
It could be that the thermal grease needs to be renewed, or else. The laptop technicians can verify this.

Good luck and keep us in the loop.
I'm sure that ASP will fix your problem as soon as possible. My experience with ASP s is very good and time to repair doesn t take a long time.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A200-1FL randomly turns off

    Hello

I have the problem that after I moved from the Spain to the Thailand now my Toshiba Satellite A200-1FL randomly turns off.
This only seems to happen when it is connected with AC - with battery I have it is not happened again although I can't rule out it.

After some time of work (sometimes only 10 minutes, sometimes up to 2 hours) the laptop just shuts off-as if I would unplug the unit without the battery inserted. It is certainly not an overheating problem because the CPU is at 55º c most of the time (a year before the cpu fan was dirty and he has sometimes increased to 90º - but which caused no stops).

I don't know about electricity here in Thailand - but it seems 220V and they do not use the Earth (at least at the point where I am).
I use the original Toshiba AC adapter.

What could be the problem here - is there any solution or the solution to this problem?

    Thanks for any help,
    vitaminx

    Hey,.

As stone I n not know electricity of the Spain and Thailand, but if you have only this problem with the AC adapter / CC, there are a few differences between the Spain and the Thailand.

In your case, I will ask the local authorized maintainer in Thailand. For example just give them a call and ask a technician for help. I'm pretty sure, they can give you an answer if you need a new power supply or another outlet.

    Good luck! :)

  • There is one year that my cousin turned off my iPad to where it says to connect to iTunes.

Good... new problem... so I got my iPad 2 years ago and I was moving at the time I only connect to iTunes or save it in iCloud. At that point, I had a different ID of "email" or apple. There is one year that my cousin turned off my iPad to where it says to connect to iTunes. I restored it but now it says use the apple ID, I used years ago to activate it, but I don't remember. Y at - it anyway to fix this? Help, please!

You will need to understand or reset your Apple ID for this old mail in order to go beyond this your own. If you forgot your Apple ID - Apple Support password

If you are unable to do this, you will need to Contact Apple for assistance with the security of the Apple ID - Apple Support accounts to access your account or remove the lock.  In the past, they usually require a copy of the original receipt in order to remove the lock, so you might have more luck just trying to restore access to this old Apple ID.

    Good luck!

  • Tecra A7 turns off after 15 minutes of use

    Hello

I have a Tecra A7 who have a problem it swich off when he uses during15 minutes, I tried with recovery of OS, drivers and update the BIOS, playing with the performace of resources I can use along 30 minutes, but even after a while turns off.
I am convinced that it is in temperature but aparently fans work properly.

    Thank you

To me, it looks too much to an overheating problem.
The best solution is to clean the laptop. The ASP in your country can do this very easily.
Of course, a use of the compressed air spray might help too

    Good luck

  • Tecra M11 - capacity wireless turns off by itself

I have a Tecra M11 who likes to turn off its wireless capability. It will sometimes go days without doing it, but for example today it did not less than 3 times. He's going to lose contact with my wireless network and when I go to reconnect I see that because the wireless feature is turned off there is no network available. When windows (windows 7 64 bit) allows to solve the problem, he tells me to "turn wireless capability" and if I jump it offers that I plug in an ethernet cable. I checked the physical switch on the front of the computer and also WiFi accessible by the Fn keys toggle switch, the two have no effect on the conviction of my computer that wireless capability is turned off.

My old tecra M9 has also done this, but I didn't expect my other (one month) to do the same thing. I can fix this problem by restarting the computer, but I'm looking for a permanent solution.

    Thanks in advance

    > My old tecra M9 has also done this, but I didn't expect my other (one month) to do the same thing. I can fix this problem by restarting the computer, but I'm looking for a permanent solution.

I think that this is not a problem of WiFi for laptop, but I think that it s related to the WLan router because you had the same problem with Tecra M9.
I recommend updating the firmware on the router first. In addition, you must reconfigure the router again. You will need to play with a different option like the use of different channels of WLan, Wlan encryption, etc.
