  Hello!  I'm having the same problem of sound/audio, many others have some.  My old drivers will not be installed since the site dell.com b/c my computer (Dell XPS 410) indicates that the Windows 7 operating system does not recognize the drivers and only Vista/XP will.

  THEN!... I'm kinda stuck... I have tried what seems like countless other recommended drivers.  My digital audio device SigmaTel record sound when I play it.  My speakers/headphones, however, indicate that they are not connected.  I just reformatted my computer tonight, and I have not changed the physical connections from Vista to W7.  So, I'm not sure WHY it tells me that my speakers are not connected...

  First of all, you can try to download the drivers from the Dell website and install it in Windows Vista compatibility mode by following the steps.

  Click on folder of the downloaded driver and select Properties. In properties of compatibility and check run this program in compatibility mode for and select Windows Vista.

  You can also activate the hidden device, activate the right speakers. And check if you can solve the problem.

  2. click on the audio icon.

  3. click on the Read tab.

  4. right click on a box empty and click Show disabled devices.

  5. you will now see the audio devices disabled with the arrow pointing down on them.

  6. right click on the disabled audio device you want to enable and Activate it.

  7. click on the Recording tab.

  8. right click on a box empty and click on Show disabled devices.

  9. you will now see the audio devices disabled with the arrow pointing down on them.

  10. Right click on the disabled audio device you want to enable and Activate it.

• Noise - Dell XPS 13 9350

  I bought a new dell XPS 13 9350 from BestBuy August 8, 2016 and have several sound problems.  First all the sounds stopped working about a month after the purchase of the laptop but using the Dell.com support site, I discovered that 3 Intel drivers were disabled. Once I reinstalled audio drivers started working again, but another question continued. A periodic static noise.

  Laptop periodically makes a static sound whenever you press a key. The noise at startup, it happens every time that you press a little matter what kind of program is running and so far there is no apparent trigger that forced him to start emitting static noise. • Dell XPS 410 memory capacity

  I have a XPS 410 aging badly need of an overhaul.  It is a great machine that I have maintained quite well for the past nine years.  Currently, it has 3 GB of RAM installed (1 x 2 GB and 512 MB x 2), but I wanted to start with the RAM upgrade.

  The motherboard has been replaced 2 years ago, and the person who repaired told me that it would be useful to simply upgrade of components if I have the skill.  When it was sold in 2005/2006 he says he has a maximum capacity of 4 GB RAM, but I've seen many posts (which are a few years, btw) it could contain 8 GB (4x2Go RAM modules.  I was wondering if it can be improved to 12 GB (4 x 2 + 2 x 2) or even 16 GB also (4 x 4 GB).  I guess it comes down to, you can install a 4 GB RAM module? or is too high to 2 GB?

  Intend to do a small upgrade RAM, adding SSD or readers, another small upgrade RAM, replacement of processors and perhaps eventually adding a map interface SATA if it would be beneficial.  In the end, the only original thing to this device would be the card reader, network card and the case!  Thank you for any advice you can give me.

  You can not go to 16 gig.  8 GB is possible but only with compatible non buffered non ecc non registered Ram of LOW density.   DDR2 is dead or missing since the retail channel.  If you get a Precision T3500 opportunity that uses DDR3, you're more likely to keep it for a few years.  The max ram is the same precision 380 or XPS400.  You have 4 slots, 4 x 2 gig is possible as well as 4 x 1 gig.  You can find a T3400 precision with 4 GB or more of ram is the same as the cost of 8 GB of ram only.

  The above PC has an LGA 775 motherboard E210882, my question is: on this Pc can install a Core 2 Duo processor? If so, can I move the Mem of Ram from 2 GB to 4 or 8 GB perhaps?

  It comes with an Intel® Viiv™ processor.

  The XPS 410 BIOS version 2.5.3 will recognize not all Core 2 Duo E6700 processors above and the max is the Core 2 Quad Q6700.  The BIOS update should be done BEFORE the CPU upgrade.

  8gigs may work but 2 gig DDR2 PC 6400 is hard to find and expensive.

• My trusty DELL XPS 410

  Need a little help. My trusty XPS 410, bought in 2007, the hard drive is dead. So I try with a new hard drive upgrade from Vista x 32 for Win 7 x 64. I'm not a novice to the upgrades of the computer and new buildings, but it's really left me speechless.

  With the replacement of the hard disk installed (not new), 250GB. I can get the Windows 7 installation disc to read, but once I start the format/install process. It starts the process and "freezes", towers of circles but nothing happens, for a few hours... then finally I get an error that Windows could not complete the format install process.

  I updated the BIOS and tried another hard drive, with the same result. Funny, Vista will reinstall without problem. This is a generation of pretty generic factory, with no real upgrade. I don't have the money to buy a new PC.

  I am posting this work, I'll get more information from her tonight. and after another message tomorrow. Thanks for any help.

  You boot from the Windows 7 installation disc? Windows 7 x 64 should be quite compatible with the XPS 410. The installation disc is maybe bad?

  You will need the recovery media you do when you received the system - attach the flash drive or insert the first disk in the backup media, power and press F12.  Start since the media and follow the prompts to reload the factory software image.

  If you do not prepare a media defined in advance, you will need to contact the customer service Dell to buy a game now - they are in fact not able to provide Windows Vista at this stage.

I couldn't understand the password so I went in the configuration of the utility and tried to change the admin password but I eventually mess up the computer. After I turn it off then back to ask a password system. I don't know what it is. Now I can't do anything. I need the system password. How can I do this?   Natakuc4 thank you for a quick response. It was a bios password. I thought about it late last night. I took offline clearpassword rider and he started to work very well. I left the jumper and put back the frame on. It works very well.

• Dimension 9200 / XPS 410 Wireless connection?

  Hello, I've tried a search in order to answer to this question, but could not find a search option. In any case, I have a Dell XPS 410. He was a great PC. Year at this same time last burned capacitors on the motherboard and I had to have someone to replace me. During the replacement of the part, I also improved for Windows 7. Now, it's really nice. My question is: since my XPS 410 has not been implemented for wireless and has no wireless card, what are the best options for me to put this PC on a network home in another area of my house? I would use it in my office, away from the cable modem and the wireless router that is running on the network home right now. It's a wireless router Netgear N600 I want to connect with, and wonder; do I need a wireless card installed on the motherboard, or in my quest for answers, I noticed the USB wireless adapters.   Brief history and prob: weird, early on, the hard drive must Access all seconds for a few years, never understand this. 2011 major problem does not start, fan on max, diagnostic light code that turned out be meaningless... surprisingly reinstallation of the graphics card has helped a bit and fact pc usable again... Mistakes became gradually less severe, it was weird. they tried to say it's a software problem, but this seems unlikely since the restore to factory condition (and the loss of some data) had not helped at all. Next years two ok. Two days ago it started not just and necessary a few reboots. Found this morning frozen on the black screen of Microsoft and had to hold power to turn off. (itself awoke to a windows update then died?) Tried to start, but it froze on the start of the BIOS set up screen, no keyboard no nothing and got the same old code "123" diagnosis, but even when there is no such code. Repeated several times. Tried reinstalling video card about 10 times, including the removal of tv card for its use of non - no and light code now diagnosis '34' are for failure possible extension of the map (not the graphics card... but there aren't any other card it must be the graphics card). No picture monitor at all now...

  Reference dell cruise forums seems to accuse 9200 motherboard...
  Can try to reset the CMOS jumper?

  I wish dell had corrected it when it was in warranty.
