No results found in iPhone Mail search

I support a medium-sized law firm and several lawyers noted that their search function for their e-mail application works inconsistently. I recently observed that a user can find a search term and getting no results when they have a number of emails containing the search term in their Inbox. I also observed that a user can search and see some terms of the subject lines of messages in their Inbox and still get no search results. I tested this for a single user and searched a number of times. I tried with wifi and wifi turned off. Tried keyword searches and contact searches based on key words. I tried the same search 6 times on the 6th test I got the results, then I tried again, after you try a few other search and don't go to no result.

After that I updated the iOS to 9.3.1 users I did all this research again and a few more for good measure and all the results returned but I handed the device to the user and it gave once more no results for him while he was trying different search terms.

I have seen similar behavior on other phones, including my own, but given that the problem disappears usually I updated it. I've now seen enough times in enough different users to think it is probably a more serious problem and people are simply not comment on this.

How is it possible that the search engine may suggest search pulled terms the subject lines of messages in the Inbox and then return no results when you search for search terms? How is it possible that I can open an email containing the search term, and then when I search for this search term, that I don't get any results?

We use Office 365. These users all have very large mailboxes. I more than once tried to remove the account and add it again for a user that is affected by this problem, and the problem persisted. I have turned off several times on the phone and turn it back on. I've more than once updated the iOS version on the phone that has the problem. The problem is quite inconsistent that most people just live with it but I heard enough reports at this stage to be concerned, that can happen in a situation where a users MUST find an email and they end up not being able to and my cabinet that could be a costly problem.

Any help or an explanation of how the mail application might behave in this way would be welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Intermittent is almost impossible to diagnose, much less difficulty. (from years of experience, probably like you)

No answers, but rather suggestions...

  1. file a bug report in the menu here > http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html < expect no return or thank you
  2. Contact the Apple Support - wait to be politely assert in this rise to the top of the chain as 1st responders are
    1. not current high-level Knowledge Bases, and
    2. are sometimes reluctant to show any inability to solve (they think it reflects badly on the performance reports)?

I'd be interested to hear back NO result you contact - I bet others would too!

Good luck

  • No results found with search function

In RoboHelp 11, for some reason when I have a run a search in the final draft text, I get a page "No results found" every time.  The Topic.slp seems normal, as the search widget is still there and has not been changed at all.  I also do nothing extraordinary for the properties of sensitive disposition.  This could be the cause of this problem?

Well, it turns out that the solution was right under my nose!  I feel silly to create this discussion now, but the problem was that I had to "Exclude this research theme" checked in the properties of the subject all that time!    Apologies, as was a complete loss of all time.

  • Acrobat: PDF text disappears on the iPhone mail application

    Hello world!

I am facing a strange problem today.

I created a document of quote on Adobe Acrobat, with fields to fill. This doc is made complete by the commercial officers, locked and then mailed to clients and prospects.

Our process is simple: we fill the doc and then sign to lock. We "save under" the doc and then send it by mail to our customers. I tested it for weeks and on computers laptops, everything is ok, it works perfectly.

But today I discovered something really strange: If I want to read one of this document received by mail on iPhone (mail app)... the content disappears...

    > > This is a test on laptop : opening the doc, everything is OK.

    Capture d’écran 2016-03-17 à 09.35.26.png

    > > Now, it is the result of when I open the doc even on iPhone mail app... My sign is still there, but all the text just disappeared!

    IMG_0224.PNG

Someone has an idea to help me fix it? It is a real problem for my business, because only if customers receive and open this doc quote on their iPhone, they'll just see... nothing! : O

    Thanks in advance,

    Best regards!

The problem is that the default PDF Viewer does not support forms. What you can do is to flatten the form fields before send you it, which converts fields of common page elements, which will be visible in the email app. More information on flattening, as well as a free JavaScript-based tool can be found here: UVSAR: tool for selective flattening for Adobe Acrobat 8, 9 and X

Looks like you may have to re-create your mailbox. You must do this for each box mailbox that has the problem (Inbox, sent, etc...).

Note that the mailbox will be empty until the rebuild is complete and the reconstruction may take some time if you have a lot of emails and attachments.

Address postal (Yosemite): rebuild the mailboxes

  • Apple Mail "search" is dysfunctional... How can I add the search right buttons?

Upgrades to El Capitan 10.11.1 and found the Apple Mail program (in "classic" mode) no longer allows me to search my emails by 'from' and 'to '.  Instead, the 'research' returns hundreds of emails, I don't want to.   In addition, scrolling of Inbox is horrible as it bounces around.  Is it possible to go back to an earlier version of Apple Mail (without all the unnecessary bells & whistles)?   Thank you!

There is no way to return to a previous version of the mail without returning to a previous operating system.

Try Mail/preferences and uncheck the classic mode. Quit Mail and reopen. Select Classic mode again to see if there is an improvement.

If it does not, start mode safe mode and test. If it works there, some 3rd party software may cause the problem.

Safe mode - on El Capitan

    Start Mode without failure-El Capitan.

  • I found an iPhone 5 abandoned in the street, and I want to get the iPhone SE

I wanted to just get the iPhone, but I found an iPhone 5 in the street, the owner told me to pick it up and take home. He's another guy, iPhone 5 was dropped by accident and he got a new iPhone 6s and it uses 16 GB Black, but I saw, it is not cracked, as it uses Otterbox Defender, so I picked it up and I restored it, and how much trade in value do? And how do I earn, I want to pay a lot less on a budget.

Turn the iPhone 'found' in the local police. This isn't yours.

Just for laughs: Let's see if I have this right. Yesterday you were eager to spend $5000 for iPhones about 5 or 6 for students who really, really wanted them. IPhones are today in the streets? I can hardly wait for the history of tomorrow.

  • Found an iPhone 6, impossible to contact the previous owner

So I found an iPhone 6, basically when I turn it on I'm greeted by the usual configuration process, but it has activation lock and I can't contact the previous owner because I can't have his email address. The closest thing to I have information regarding the owner is this picture down below. My question is how can I contact the previous owner?

Give it to the local police.

  • I found an iPhone and really want to go back to the original owner

I found an iPhone a few months ago and have tried in vain to return to the original owner, how do I do this? Any suggestions would be helpful.

There is nothing you can do. If the device is online, then the original owner can lost Mode and send a message with details. If they don't do that, then you have no way of knowing who is the owner. Give it to the police.

    See you soon,.

  • How can I delete an email stuck in my iPhone Mail cannot send to send a video?

How can I delete an email stuck in my iPhone Mail cannot send to send a video?

Actually Mail attempts to send the e-mail and the ball rotates constantly.

I have a feeling that it uses resources constantly.

I do not have email.  It can be removed.

I just "can't not" somehow.  It's just stuck there twirling.

Any ideas on how to stop this.

I closed all applications and restarted the iPhone and hope that when I opened her Mail I could 'catch' and delete it.  But she turned thankfully than ever.

    I'm out of ideas.

Remove your e-mail account and then reinstall.

  • Cannot create folders under POP Server mail in iPhone mail

Why Apple does not allow the creation of folders in email POP servers in iPhones?  Very unfair to limit this function. I have all Apple devices (iPhone not only) and it would be great if I could organize my emails that I don't want to delete but do not need have all scattered them in the Inbox. I'm really surprised that there is still a problem with Apple.   Please allow the creation of folders under iPhone mail servers pop.  Thank you.

It is not a problem with Apple, this is a limitation of the POP email protocol. Get an IMAP e-mail account, and you will not have this problem.

  • Unread mail search folder shows no new message in Outlook

I tried to do my due diligence before coming here, but none of the solutions worked.  I have Microsoft Outlook 2003.

Last week, a new email I've had has been appearing in the search folder "unread mail", in addition to appearing in my regular "inbox."

During the weekend, we have migrated to a new server.  This week, a new emails see the place in my 'box', but they do not appear in the "Unread mail" search folder.

Now I have several files in my mailbox.  I tried the search folder by choosing a message previously read in one of the folders and by doing a right click on it to "mark as unread".  It appears in the search folder "unread mail".

So I tried to test it again by selecting a message in my 'box' and right-clicking to "mark as unread".  Although the message becomes boldened in the "Inbox", it still does NOT appear in my search folder "unread mail".

Any suggestion or help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.
