Maybe your sound card doesn't have. The replacement can be the solution.

  • surround sound in iTunes

On my sound Windows 10 PC surround works in Windows Media Player, but not in iTunes. How can I change the config in iTunes?

I had exactly the same problem and based on iTunes for a solution and after really engage with them, they are back and after testing what they suggested I have now answer that works.  As with all things all he needed was to know what box and the important thing to note is the solution lies not in iTunes, but in a simple setting on your Windows 10 sound settings.

So the solution is the following:

First of all, quit iTunes (if open), then go to control panel - sounds - select your speakers (probably failed you device) and then click Properties.  Then click on the enhancements tab and simply check the Speaker Fill box - click on apply and can test to see if you work by using the Preview button.  Surround sound on all 5.1 speakers should play.

If so the next open iTunes and play your favorite song and it should play in a 5.1 surround sound.

Hope it works for you - it did for me and is a solution supported by iTunes Support.

If it does not you spread the word about this solution.

PS I think this can also solve / resolve 5.1 surround for iMovie and other problems of his fellows.

  • Bowers & Wilkins T7 Bluetooth speaker connected, no sound

Connects to the speaker, but will not make a sound. It isn't muted in the sound preferences and it won't work for any sound, not iTunes, amazon etc... I have sound from all of these places if I disconnect and use the laptop speakers. Can I use the speaker with other devices, such as my iPhone.

My macbook pro, retina, 15 "mid 2015 Yosemite 10.10.5 running

    Hi Larisa,.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with the T7, I hope that we can help you solve this problem!

We have not heard of this problem before, but it does not sound as if there is a setting on the Mac preventing the audio to be heard (that you've properly read audio from your iPhone to T7).

Do you have other Bluetooth speakers or headphones available to test with? It will be interesting to know if others connect and read audio data from your Macbook, because this will help you isolate the issue either with your Mac or the T7.

    Kind regards

  • Cannot hear the songs on computer in iTunes

    10 64-bit Windows

    iTunes 14

I have a new computer (that I have authorized) and I can't hear playback songs in iTunes. both with a headset or a bluetooth speaker.  I then hear 'system sounds' in iTunes, but, again, not music.  The iTunes volume control is functional and completely turned upward, as well as the icon for the audio control device in Windows.  I am able to hear the music in other applications (e.g. YouTube).  Any advice or assistance would be appreciated.  Thank you very much.

Try to use Ctrl + B to activate so hidden menu bar, and then use Edit > Preferences > reading and look at the entry for Play Audio to help. This should normally be set to Sound live or Session Windows Audio. Change to the other setting can help.

  • All the sounds that are specifically related to the Microsoft system works not-missing the system tray volume control and Accessories Entertainment empty folder.

I have no volume control icon in the system tray and my Accessories Entertainment folder is empty.  I can play the sound through iTunes and VLC media player but is no longer the Player Windows Media can play CDs or mp3 files.  I have more Microsoft system sounds and the sounds of a large number of online streaming sites no longer play unless I can their route via iTunes or VLC media player.  Windows Media Player says missing codecs if I try to play mp3 files.  I have upgraded to Windows Media Player 11 to see if that would bring codecs, but without any result.

My problems were not related to the missing CODECS.

I knew the sound on my system was basically correct, given that I was able to listen to free VLC Player I downloaded to replace the Windows Media Player while he was not working.

However, the solution to my problem of noise was really simple, but the answer was just very complicated track.

I noticed that a lot of the chatter about similar problems on other forums was related to Adobe Flash Player.

I had recently upgraded to the latest versions all Adobe products on my system.  I didn't make the connection that Adobe software could affect all the sounds of Microsoft.

Finally, after doing a Google search on Adobe Flash Player issues, I found a partial solution:

    Here's an exact quote:

Very well, the problem is really the wavemapper mapping in the registry of Windows such as reported by a member of the forum.

All you have to do is to open the registry editor by going to start menu, run, type regedit, then Enter.
After that, in Registry Editor, navigate yourself in the left pane until you reach

    My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32

And then in the pane, right-click and click New, select string value, enter "wavemapper" (without the quotes, of course), ENTER, enter "msacm32.drv".
    Come in.

Well, of course, it didn't work the first time. I received this message:

the Registry Editor cannot rename the new value #1. The specified value name already exists. Type another name and try again

I was puzzled for a while, until I saw someone in the forum with a similar problem mentioned that they had found a fix for this problem by granting permissions subkey. This led me to Google search for registry permissions.

After that here, that's what I had to do, and although it seems that a lot of steps, it's really very simple:

Once I had reached the drivers32 registry entry I pointed out the entry in the right pane. Mine said (default) REG_SZ (value not set). I then clicked on change on the Bar Menu and clicked on permissions on the menu drop down.

This opens the permissions for Drivers32. I highlighted at the entrance of the Administration and click the Advanced button.

This opens the "Advanced Drivers32 security settings. I made sure that I was under the permissions tab in this window. I noticed that the box called "inherit from parent the permission entries that apply to child objects. Include these with entries explicitly defined here"was checked. Yet once, I did ensure that the entrance of the Administration has been highlighted and then I clicked on the button change.

This opens the "permission for Drivers32 entry. I chose "this key and subkeys" apply to: falling to the bottom of this window. Then, I checked the full control checkbox. I clicked on OK.

I clicked on apply advanced Drivers32 window security settings.

I clicked on apply permissions for Drivers32 window.

Once that I had done it all a lot more entries appeared in the right pane for Drivers32 including my wavemapper entry. This is where all along; Quite simply, there is not all the permissions to do anything, including being in the registry pane.

I left the registry and now all my sounds are back and the volume icon is once again in my system tray. Who would have thought?

    Hope this helps someone else.

It is an instant fix... your speakers should now work for web sounds, no reboot is necessary.

If this isn't the case, you may have its disabled in the advanced settings of Internet Explorer.
    To check:

    1. open IE. Go to tools > Internet Options.
    2. Select the "Advanced" tab
    3. go to the 'Multimédia' heading
    4. make sure that "Play sounds in web pages" is checked. Click on 'ok '. Restart Internet Explorer. A test to see if the sound will now play.

Maybe you don't have the right plugins/addons installed to play sounds. Need of plugins for interactive media include generally:

    1. adobe Flash.
    2. Java.

Open the start menu and type "cmd" in the search box.

Place your mouse on the entry "cmd.exe" that appears, right-click.

    Select "Run as Administrator".

Follow the instructions (you may need an administrator password, if you are not on the administrator account), until the black window with white text.

    Type (without quotes) "sfc/scannow".

Press ENTER. Let the scan performed, it may take some time.

Windows will check all your system files to ensure that they are not corrupt. If it finds no problems, he will try to correct them. He may ask you to insert your windows disk. He may ask you to restart your computer.

Let us know what happens after trying these steps

    Thank you

  • No sound from various forms of media (but online streaming is fine)

Most of my media programs can not play sounds: Winamp, iTunes, Windows Media Player, Media Player Classic... even videos are without sound when I play them (and now Windows Media Player cannot play files AVI despite having had installed the codec). Winamp also gone over the deep end and not is just not show anything on the "audio" tab in the "local media". I reinstalled it to see if that has helped (and restarted my laptop), but without success.

Various other programs on my laptop can not play sounds either (like Second Life and Neo Steam), but hulu.com and Youtube are perfectly fine so far and I can still Skype very well as well. I can also hear the asterisks and invites the sounds of the computer laptop itself (as when you request approval for actions requiring administrative privileges).

Something happened with my laptop earlier, killing my WiFi, so I think that the audio came out with it also. I find it strange that just the things mentioned were affected and not calling online or online streaming.

It is not the music or video files themselves; I tested on other computers and found no problem with the sound.

    So, can anyone help?

    Hello sanitynevermore,

I suggest you follow the link below and run the fix it. This will automatically diagnose and repair problems with sound and audio on your computer or when your computer does not play sound:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/GP/NO_SOUND

Make sure that the speakers are selected as the default device on your computer.

    1. click on start, type Sound in the box to start the search.

    2. click on sound in the results of search at the top of the start menu.

    3. click on the tab reading notice the check mark next to the default device. For most users, the default device is speakers. Make sure that the audio settings are configured as expected. Follow these steps:

On the Read tab, select the playback device, click Properties, click the Advanced tab and make sure that the default Format is set to the value you expect. When you are finished, close this window to return to the previous window.

On the Read tab, select the playback device, click on configure and make sure that the configurations are set correctly.

    4. If the sound settings are well positioned, you are using speakers as the audio device and your speakers are already set as the default device, go to method 5 now.

    5. Select the audio device you want as the default audio device and then click on set as default.

    6. click OK to save your settings and close the sound dialog box.
