No sound on speakers

Hello

I have a DELL XPS 17 L701X- and in recent days he is no more sound on the speakers built-in. When I plug the headphones it is solid. The driver for the card (Realtek) sound is the most recent.

Also a restore to an earlier point in time it not solved the problem.

You must first re - install the audio driver, or alternatively, you can delete in "remove a program. If you do a simple uninstall without deleting, when you restart Windows re - installs which will give its parameters by default those. Or if remove you it and reboot then Windows will install its audio driver base. In both cases if you still can't get audio speakers you may have the problem, I will describe below.

Audio with HD Dell laptops (all models newer than the Inspiron 9300) use technology of switching in the headphone jack, which is a bit complicated. In addition to the usual mechanical parts, making also uses current technology & detection of impedance to software configuration of trigger and switching (to send the audio signal to the speakers). Laptops with these shots sometimes develop this combination of symptoms:

* Speakers do not work and are not active or deselected
* Headphone Jack works
* Reinstall audio driver does not help
* Audio test Dell Diagnostics passes
* On models with 2 headphone jacks, you can be "verified" in the dashboard as if in use
* Sometimes, but not always, a very gentle agitation to a plug in the plug will get to resume normal operation, at least temporarily.

This combination of symptoms means that the sense in making PIN does not work for some reason any. Failure of the spindle sense translates the computer behaves as if there is always a plug into the socket. The software switch that should send audio to the speakers did not get fired.

There are 3 ways to check if you have a PIN missed sense:

1. check that the combination of symptoms I listed. If you have all of them then it is pretty certain that you have the PIN direction failed. Note that when you run Dell Diagnostics audio tests, you should hear the speakers. It's the opposite of what one would expect. But note that if you do not hear the sound on the speakers during the tests there is an another hardware problem, not a wrong pin.

2. replace the headphone jack. If this solves the problem that confirms that you have had a PIN sense failed.

3. replace the laptop to its original factory configuration. This is called PC Restore in XP and Factory Image Restore in Vista. If the speakers don't work always after that PC/Factory Image Restore and you have the combination of the symptoms listed above, it is a final confirmation of a sense pin failed.

The only way to fix a plug with a missed sense PIN is to replace it. Change the plug on most of the models requires the replacement of the motherboard, but some models have a jack's daughter card that can be replaced by a new one. See down below for the list of models with the advice of jack replaceable.

How to run Dell Diagnostics Audio Tests

These interactive audio tests are designed to limit the problem software or hardware. The tests are independent of Windows and drivers, meaning that it is not serious if those who are working properly or not. To run Dell Diagnostics

1 restart the computer and press the f12 key as soon as it begins to initialize.
2. Select 'Diagnostic' in the start menu. The computer will run its evaluation of pre-boot (PSA) tests before the start of the Dell Diagnostics. In the PSA, you will hear some tones in the speaker system but it does not adequately test the audio hardware. Dell Diagnostics plays an instrumental piece of music complete with battery, so if you hear only a few tones then you have run only the PSA.
3 Dell Diagnostics should open after the PSA tests, or you should see an option to open it. If you've never reformatted your entire hard drive then Dell Diagnostics will be gone as an option. In this case run it from the CD Drivers and Utilities (resource) If you have a.
4. Select 'Custom', then the audio tests.
5. the tests will run. You have no need to run all of them. Just tick or no audio comes through the speakers during the tests.

If you hear speakers during the tests (tests 'pass'), but not once you start in Windows, this result means that you have a software problem. The problem of software should normally be in the audio driver, but if you have the rest of the combination of symptoms, then the software problem is that switching software does not work. But it does not work due to a hardware problem - a PIN sense failed. Dell Diagnostics cannot detect directly a sense PIN failed. That's why Dell Diagnostics produced an opposite result to what one would expect when there is this particular hardware problem.

    Try the following.

    Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

    When you're done, shut down the laptop and perform a "Hard Reset" for your model, as described in the document of HP here.

    One when you're done, press next to the key ESC that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

    Allow Windows to fully - charge it will automatically load an audio driver, but let just this complete.  Then open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.

    My Compaq Presario CQ57-339WM running 64-bit Windows 7 has no sound coming from the built-in speakers.  The headphone jack works with headphones, but the built-in speakers have no sound.  I just downloaded the driver update and still no sound.  When I check the speakers in the Manager, it indicates that the device is functioning properly.  Short of redo the original back recovery point system does anyone have any suggestions of how I can check to see if the problem is in the speakers or with the card or what?  I looked on the boards here, but nothing seemed to fit my problem exactly if I'd appreciate any help.  Thanks in advance.

    I understand that you have the sound through your headphones, but not the internal speakers.  When you checked the Device Manager it says it works.

    (I have the IdeaPad y510p, btw).

    Then I updated level to Windows 10 Home and noticed that my JBL speakers now sound like shit.

    I reinstalled the sound drivers, nothing works.

    I noticed, however, that things sound beautiful when you use headphones... so I don't think that it is the sound card, but the speakers that have reset or whatever the update.

    I remember when I bought this PC firstly that there was only some built in Lenovo crudware to change sound options, and most of them makes the speakers sound bad, as they do now - slender and away a little weak. So I uninstalled.

    Now that my sound from speakers like this again, is there a way I can get this program once again? I have no idea what it was called, but it allowed you to adjust your speakers for stuff like 'movies' and 'music '. I want to see if fiddling with making my speakers together again.

    Type in "change the settings of the sound card" in the search bar and open it. Double-click on your speakers to open the speaker Properties window. In this, go to the tab called Dolby and click the power button in the upper left corner to switch it off.

    I see where several issue after you upgrade to windows 8 for 7 or vista, you have no sound from speakers.

    In case someone runs into this problem going forward, please make sure that:

    1. your laptop is supported for Windows 8.

    AND

    2. There are Audio drivers available for the laptop.

    DV7-6c90us w/Beats audio Entertainment PC. IDT High Definition Audio Codec. The drivers are "up to date". Device Manager indicates that this sound card does not work correctly. I did a scan of root of Avast Antivirus and PC Cillin Housecall. Not found any viruses.

    Download & save the last Audio driver. Go into the Control Panel, programs & features - software uninstall IDT. Reboot the laptop. After loading Windows, install IDT audio by using the downloaded file.

    I recently had problems with my Dell Inspiron 9400/E1705 (vista 32-bit windows operating system). I couldn't get a USB microphone to work and I decided to update the sound card driver. I downloaded and updated what I thought, it was the right driver (sigmatel high definition audio codec) and since there is no sound from speakers. I followed the guide from Dell troubleshooting and disconnect any external devices and then click right click the mixer volume in the system tray, and then clicked on "open volume Mixer" and I get the message: no audio device installed. I went to the control panel to check the sound card driver and he told me that the codec sigmatel high definition audio works well and he has not updated.   • Qosmio PX30T - no sound from speakers

    I just replaced a failing on my PX30T HARD drive and now I get no sound from the internal speakers. I used the media restore and also put all the patches and windows 8.1. Still no sound from the speakers, but the headphones work well.

    As a last resort, I started with an image of Ubuntu USB and also no sound. I think I might have loosened a wire when replacing the HARD drive, but I don't see how because there are no other wires in the region. Ideas?

    I.ve just had my first problem with my Toshiba Satellite L650 - particularly serious, because I rely on it for all my music playback!

    Normally I can plug and on the headphone jack on my stereo, speakers cut out and I get HiFi glorious while it is inserted, and the speakers onboard bounce when I delete.
    Today, I have plugged as ususal and listened to a few songs.

    I unplugged (to move the laptop) and the internal speakers not to bounce.
    I reconnected the headphone jack and there was no sound from my stereo (finger test confirms the work of jack stereo).

    I checked all the app and the main volume - level in good health indicators were present.
    In the Device Manager, all reported correctly and counter activity took place during the test routines of the audio device for both speakers and headphones, but no real signal to the phone jack, or speakers.

    I uninstalled the drivers of "High definition Audio Device", and scanned for hardware changes after - drivers were automatically found and installed successfully, but still no sound.

    I have the Satellite A200 too preinstalled with recovery DVDs. I was very curious and I tested it on my laptop. In my case everything was OK. Through the use of headphones, Laptop speakers are automatically TURNED off. Remove helmet speakers work again.

    I am really confused, and it is really not easy to say what the problem is here. AFAIK in headphone plug it is small, and through the use of headphones this past should disable Laptop speakers. All you can do is check if it happens after clean OS installation, maybe update the BIOS or install the latest driver sound.

    Sorry, but I don't see any other possibilities. If anything maybe you must contact the service in your country. I really can't imagine that this little mixer may be defective but service may only do a check.

    Click with the right button of the mouse on the symbol of the speakers in the taskbar and open devices reading option.
    Pregnant option is listed here?

    Click with the right button of the mouse over it and make sure that it is set as the default device.

    I put t think it is driver related issue. The problem must be something else.

    I put t know what sound card is inside but please open Control Panel and check if there are options audio Realtek listed or something like that and check all the options there.
