  I an A10 Pro of the Satellite with Win XP Pro installed and cannot access the power settings. When I go into the power settings in Windows, I get a msg telling me to use Toshiba Power Saver and Win power settings are grayed out.

  Hi Dave,.

  You have the "Toshiba common Modules" installed? They must first of all for many models of Toshiba, and power settings module is an add-on for that.

  If you do not have the appropriate restoration or the utility CD handy, the drivers can be downloaded from the Web from Toshiba website.

  I need your help so that I can save files from the internal hard drive of the mobile platform of book z hard disk external.  And I need to be able to reconnect the external drives and readers to the Zbook mobile workstation to transfer files to transfer flash.

  These are the pop ups that appear for each when displaying of readers by opening my computer:

  When left click hard disk drive a pop up appears with the title bar: location is not available.

  H:\ is not accessible.

  Access is denied.

  Make a right click on the hard drive allows FreeAgent GoFlex drive opening (h :)) properties)

  The tabs are ReadyBoost, previous Versions, Quota, customize, general, tools, hardware, sharing, security

  The specifications for the mobile workstation of zbook are:

  This problem has been resolved.

  Right-click all methods have not access external external hard drives and flash drives.

  Sharing, permissions, ownership, administrative changes, all method all failed.

  This problem has been resolved by higher HP product support.  Other levels of support were not able to diagnose the problem or fix.

  The problem has been resolved by:

  (1) determine that he was not a NTFS problem

  (2) using the msconfig to isolate a single service

  When the unique service has been disabled the files on any external drives have been available.

  The service of the problem was the HP Client Security.

  This HP Client Security in its default value is set to deny access.

  Then right-click on the drive and change the permissions, ownership, to administrators, using everyone etc. will fail because they are all trumped by the HP Client Security that is set by default to deny access.

  When that client security is changed the drives become available.  It is not information about this when using the computer and this can be learned by trial and error.

  I hope this helps all those who have z book 17 mobile workstations or HP computers that are equipped with client security.

• M7-K010DX: can I replace pre-installed Win 8.1/64 with Win 7 Pro/64?

  I'm considering buying a laptop M7 HP Touchsmart - K010DX want to Best Buy who has Win 8.1/64 pre-installed.  This model allow me to install Win 7 Pro/64 instead (assuming that I'll buy the appropriate media/license)?

  Best Buy guy explained that all of the processors now contain a basic Win 8, so they can always starts when the primary HD fails.  He said that the use of this built-in Win 8 must be disabled before installing a different operating system, and he said that not all machines you allow to do.

  I hope as the M7-K010DX allows... is perhaps likely since HP Driver Support page lists the Win 7 and 8.1 as possible O.S..

  Can anyone confirm this?

  You are right.

  Remove the hard drive is not for the faint of heart, and so much so, the warranty will be cancelled if you do.

  It is a task of "authorized service provider.

  The procedure to remove the HARD drive are in Chapter 6 beginning on page 66.

  Most models allow easy removal of the hard drive, but some don't, and I guess yours is one of them.

  I need my Win 7 Home to connect to my Win XP Pro (XP is the host)... I can see portable XP on the network, access files, and the ping... I can not connect via remote desktop.  On XP I have enabled to allow users to connect remotely to this computer, checked exceptions in the system, on the Remote tab properties.  Seems that everything is configured correctly.  I have a wireless router that I use for the network, I do not understand how to check or change access to the port if necessary or if I need a VPN to get there.  Help please.  Thank you

  Windows 7 Home Premium can only be remote desktop access - you can't access other macines FROM Windows Home Premium.

• Microphone does not work with Win 8 Pro (driver issue)

  I just bought a new PC with Windows 8 pro and the following technical details:

  Motherboard: GA - X 79 - UP4
  CPU: Intel I7 - 3930K
  Graphics card: Nvidea Geforce GTX670

  The Microphone plugged into the port back does not work and produces his scrambled a lot like a warped computer extreme voices and is extremely soft at the same time. Re-install the original drivers and try to obtain new did not help anything.

  To prove any wrong material, I then removed the hardrive where victory 8 has been installed and installed a new version of Windows 7 Ultimate on a new hardrive and here evrything works without any worries. Probably, this proves that it is certainly a driver problem.
  Also, what about this is that Windows 8 has crashed several times already by activating the "speaker" icon.

  Any help would be apreashiated

  I actually solved the problem by updating the bios of the motherboard that was sugested to me by the Gigabyte support.

  I have a 8930G which has 5.1 sound system.

  I have just updated my OS to 8.1 Win and are now that the sound is gone weird on me.

  It is very quiet and sounds lke just only the speaker enclosure subwoofer when I play a video or audio file.

  However when I run the Realtek Sound Manager all the sound from the speakers when I run a test.

  I am running the Audio_Realtek_6.0.1.5983_Win7x86x64_AS8930G drivers.

  Someone at - it suggestions as to what may be the problem?

  Past the laptop computer object of WIn 7 home for Win7 Pro for businesses.  View of web for the HP driver is incomplete and is not a) the wired or b driver) a description in all other network drivers this driver includes the cable part of the network equipment.  So looking for the driver for ethernet controller correct for the subject to WIN7 Pro laptop.  HP technical support if it isn't useful at ALL.  All what they seem to be able to do are read in a script.  They can not seem to find a driver for the controller net ethernet, but the machine is able to order with WIN7 Pro installed.  I am trying to understand this.  For the ethernet controller hardware ID is listed in the Manager of devices such as PCI/VEN_197B & 2392 & SUBSYS_385103C & REV30.  Anyone who has a dv4t which can get the driver installed and I would like to know which manufacturer... Intel (which I don't think it is) RealTek or Jmiron seem to be most commonly installed if I did my research properly.

  Well it's certainly a surprise that the driver that you require for the ethernet controller is Atheros and I can find no reference to this HP.

  However, try the following.

  Download the 64-bit inf file for AR8151 on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

  It is a compressed file, so if you need an extraction utility, download and install 7 - Zip from the Installer x 64 64-bit .msi on the link below.

  With 7 - Zip installed, right click the file zipped you download, select Extract 7 - Zip, select the files and then click Ok.

  Cut and paste this folder newly extracted to your desktop for convenience.

  Now open the Device Manager, open network adapters, right-click on ethernet controller and select "Update Driver Software".  Choose "Browse my computer for driver software" then click Browse and navigate to the folder on your desktop and click Next.

  This installs Ok?

  So, I bought a nice new HP laptop... 4540 s I5 - very nice - but it comes with 8 Pro 64 bit Windows which unfortunately will not run the basic things I need this laptop due to driver problems. So no problem. I have right to demotion on Windows 8 Pro 64 bit for Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I have Windows 7 the retail media and an existing permit, that I can use during the installation (although this license is also used on my other machine).

  So, I install windows 7. No problem.

  Add all the drivers for your laptop. No problem.

  Now comes the part where I'm supposed to install the license to activate.

  I use the license key, I had already activated on my other laptop (although that is running windows 7 32 bit).

  It allows! Shock. It should have my other machine is the use of this license.

  In any case. I want to be able to use the "downgrade" on the Windows 8 Pro 64 bit license rights and apply it to the installation of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit I am now running. Althougth it is allowed there is no any procedure for anyone without a physical COST windows 8 for the upgrade to Windows 7.

  If someone please advise how I can solve this problem. I have called Microsoft a few times and seem to end up on hold because no one can answer my question.

  How register you an installation of Windows 7 when you do not have a certificate of authenticity windows 8?

  subsequently talked to someone in the Microsoft technical support who told me that I should talk to HP in order to obtain a product key valid windows 7 pro 64. However as I expected maintain for nearly an hour he was good enough to go through the process on behalf of HP and was able to give me a new key.

  But if you need to do this, then I guess the official course is to contact HP and ask for a key. And apparently they should also be able to provide you with support of Windows 7 If you ask.

  I have Win7 PRO service pack 1 installed and uninstalled OS, resettled so drivers in the driver manager updated includding IBM power.  Check all parameters at the stop.  But I can't get windows to shut down with the power button.  Using of the Windows icon and the selection "stop watch system stop stops and then restarts.  I tried the "Hot fix and that has not worked either."
