  First of all you need to know, what is the Satellite P100-322 series. The number should be placed at the bottom of the unit.

  Question no sound after downgrade to XP is a known for me. This problem occurs because your Windows XP operating system is not updated and MS patches are not installed.

  You must first remove the sound card driver. Then restart the laptop and install install KB888111 and KB835221 hotfix. After this installation, restart again and install the audio driver.

  Satellite P100-324 belongs to the series of PSPA6E.
  The European driver Toshiba page asserts that Realtek audio driver should be compatible.
  But the Realtek audio driver Toshiba on page is released for Win 7 32 bit, not 64-bit.

  I recommend the driver on the Realtek page. There you should find one that suits.

  You can also check the Dev ID and could find the compatible driver for internet.

  I think that the audio driver is not installed corectlly... try it unistal from Device Manager, and after reinstall...
  for sure, it's a software problem...
  If it does not try to know who is the producer of the sound card (for example, realtek) and download the driver of his support instead of toshiba...

  I have a Satellite P100 and keep problems with the sound, I frequently get crackles of sound effects to Windows, and recently the speakers stopped working for a few moments, then came back. When I tried to turn the volume up I could not access the speaker controls as it said that there is no active device.

  Found an interesting thread about crackling noise on the P100 and as the user TDC , said that the audio driver should be updated.
  BUT: Before installing the audio driver updated to at least the BIOS version 2.10 or higher must be installed on the laptop.

  May I ask where did you download the saver of energy for Satellite P100?

  I assume you want to install utility is not compatible on you P100 and, therefore, it of not possible to install it.

  The fix for windows KB937077 does not apply to my setup (message from Windows after the installation of KB937077).

  You didn't explain what happening exactly when you put the audio in Audio out port Jack. Now integrated speakers shouldn't be active any more. If they still work, I guess this little mixer of audio port which allows to switch between internal and external stakeholders can be damaged.

  If there is any attempt of trying to connect headphones or external speakers to make sure that no sound is at all.

  I m not a P100 owner and, therefore, I cannot give you an opinion on the quality of the sound on this laptop. But according to the specifications of the laptop, the speakers are certainly harman/kardon.

  I read a few threads on the problems of sound on the P100 and also found this Toshiba document:
