No Windows Update after I upgraded my hard drive.

OT: Vista updates installed.

I had problems with my laptop since the middle of December 2014.

I'm looking at what updates have been installed under the heading "Programs and the Features\Installed updates" and it seems (I have no updated filters) see updates only occur "long ago" and do not show updates since December 12, 2014 or updates for Nov 2014.

In July, I improved my HDD from 160G to a WDC 1 TB drive and reloaded everything, like I said everything was good until the middle of the Dec, then I started to have high memory use, high CPU usage and a generally slow laptop.

Laptop is a 104 CA of HP G60 Model with mem 4 GB AMD Athlon X 2 processor 1 TB Western Digital HD.

Any help with this would be great, or if anyone else has problems like Norton 360 multi user is updated and active!

Hello

Windows updates are normally released on the second Tuesday of each month, so it would work very well at some had no update since December 12.

You confuse me however when you mentioned November 2014 as well as...

You can also be infected by the malware. It should run a scan with the following programs and delete anything that they detect.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - http://malwarebytes.org

AdwCleaner - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner

Junkware Removal Tool - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/junkware-removal-tool

If please download MiniToolBox and save it to your desktop. Double click on it, select list installed programs and click OK. A journal is open, please send the contents of it in your response.

I recommend that you only perform a scan with the auditor of the filesystem, which will scan your system for missing/corrupted or damaged files and will try to correct them.

How to run the System File Checker

http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/1538-SFC-SCANNOW-Command-System-File-Checker.html

Also, you can run the check disk to find bad sectors that may be present on your system.

    Hello

For any problem with the help of the recovery Partition that has been copied to the hard disk by the computer manufacturer, you must contact them.

This recovery process is the manufacturer, not Microsoft.

    ________________________________________________

You never told us why you wanted to do a restore. If you had serious errors and the recovery process does not work, you will have hardware problems. BUT we're only guessing at this stage due to lack of information to help you.

  • Upgrade the HARD drive and install SSD XP to Windows 7 upgrade - which command?

I want to make some improvements to my trusty HP XP media center PC m7350n.  Ideally, here's what I want to do in a certain order:

-upgrade the HARD drive (currently 250 and 500 GB installed, replace with 750 unique?)

-install an SSD as boot drive (60 to 120 GB?)

-Reinstall XP restore disks media center

-do a upgrade 'clean' for win 7 Home premium (64 bit?) from the disc "upgrading"

The Windows 7 upgrade disk looks like for XP/Vista, so I can't put new hardware and go directly to a cost of Win 7 install.

    Plan a.

I understand the look of for the minimum size of disks restore disks.  All guess what SSD size would be the minimum? I guess the upgrade of the first hard drive and reinstall XP MC since the restore disks would be trivial (as opposed to their use after a motherboard replacement).  If I have XP MC on the SDS, it is only a reason any Win 7 no upgade SDS?

    Plan B

If I install the SSD after upgrade to Windows 7, I guess I have to use something like a disk copy program to the boot from SSD HARD disk partition.  SUGESTIONS?

    Plan C

Restoration of SKIP.  Move existing partitions of 250 and 500 GB drives to 750.  Update for Win 7.  Install an SSD.  Move the boot partition.  Use the same drive for both copy program?

    Am I missing something?

In case anyone is wondering, I have a spare 750Go drive and the Windows 7 upgrade disk so the only "cost" of this update is to purchase the SSD (and if necessary disk copy program).

    Thank you!

    Don,

Please read this article by Paul Thurrott more "Clean install Windows 7 with upgrade media '. It essentially says you can make a completely clean install on a drive with no operating system. The key is not to enter the COA product key after installation is complete. I, myself, installed Windows 7 to discs using disks 'upgrade' several times without problems of installation or activation. The order I do it with, is as follows:

1 copy all the files and folders of the 250 and the 500 GB HDD of 750 GB.

    2. remove the 250 GB, 500 GB and 750 GB of computer hard drives.

    3. install the SSD.

    4. install Windows 7 on the SSD without entering the product key.

    5. Once finished Windows 7 installation, enter the product key and activate Windows.

    6. return old hard disks of computer as needed.

    7. install purchased software and Windows updates if necessary.

You should go to 4 GB of RAM to get the most out of Windows 7 64 bit and you can upgrade your graphics card.

Note: You will lose all software provided CVS Windows XP on your m7350n. Make sure that you create your HP recovery discs before you proceed with the change of equipment or install Windows 7. Your HP recovery disks can have the factory included HP software... it may or may not work with Windows 7. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

I looked everywhere for an answer without success.

Whenever you install a new update, it contains the updates released before. If you will get only the recent updates. When you run windows update, you also receive only for new updates when you're done with the updates offered. This might be a reason you found less updates after formatting windows.
