Nobody can open my attachments

WPS documents can not be opened by anyone I send an attachment. I converted it to a txt document and they can not even open it. I have had this problem since I bought the computer (Vista). I don't seem to be compatible with anyone else. Microsoft word or spreadsheets are simply could not be opened by others. When I send the documents to windows 7 for work on at home they will open and I can read them but I can't do anything for them. This occurs with documents from anyone.

If you use Outlook, make sure that you send in HTML or plain text format.  Do NOT sent in the RTF format, recipients use only Outlook cannot decode attachments.

I have a new HP computer and I can not open hotmail attachments (updated Automatic Windows Vista, IE8, activated and updated running).  When you try to open an attachment, the bar downstairs quickly moves to the right, but never appears a dialog box asking if you want to open or save the file.  Error message I get when I try to resolve it with the suggested steps indicates "module"wintrust.dll"was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80070005.  I tried to do the same command prompt, but still not received the same error.  Thanks for help anything.

    Hi Paul,.

Have you tried to download an attachment after you turn off your antivirus?
I had a problem in the past where the system was performed at Trend Micro Internet Security and Web content filtering (I think that's what it was called) was preventing attachments from download.
I would like to know what are your results!

  • Windows Mail wants to open all attachments with Word rather than Word, Adobe, pad etc. How can I get the attachments to open properly?

Windows Mail wants to open all attachments with Word rather than Word, Adobe, pad etc. How can I get the attachments to open properly?

    Hello

    1. Click the "Start" menu in the bottom left of Windows. Then select "Default programs".
    2. Click on the option "Associate any type of file or Protocol with a program."
    3. Select the file type you want to change the types of files listed. For example, if you want the text (.txt) file to open it in Microsoft Word instead of WordPad, choose '.txt '.
    4. Click on the "Change Program" button in the upper right window.
    5. In the list of programs, select "Microsoft Word". If Microsoft Word does not appear in the list, click on the button 'Browse' in the bottom right and choose Microsoft Word on your computer.
    6. Click on the button 'OK' and then 'close '. The next time you open this type of file, it will open it in Microsoft Word. Repeat this procedure for any other type of file you want to open in Word.

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most of the modules.

(If you use it, switch to the default theme).

    • You can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • Or open the Help menu and click on the restart with the disabled... modules menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, simply select "" boot mode safe. "

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. To do this, please follow article Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems .

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. It might help others who have the same problem.

  • W8 can open files of "docx"?

I often receive emails with attachments docx.  Why the w8 will not open these files?

Your questions are far from over.  You left almost everything that could help identify your problem.

What do you mean by "w8" (you asked your question to a Windows XP forum)?

What version of Windows you have, including the service pack (if any)?

What version of Microsoft Office do you have?

What mail client do you use?

What happens when you try to open these attachments?

What is the full text of the error message you get, without paraphrasing?

You can save attachments and then open them?

Have you ever been able to open docx files?  If so, what happened to your system all the time the problem started?

What is the name and version of your anti-virus program?  It is now and has it always been updated?

What other security software is installed?

Have you ever used a "registry cleaner" or a similar tool?

  • opening of attachments

I used to be able to open attachments to emails, but can do so no longer. I had to reinstall Windows XP recently and maybe that's the problem. I have an msn.com account. The attachment, I can't open is in .xls (spreadsheet) format. When I try to open it, I get a message saying windows cannot open this file. "Windows needs to know what kind of program has created. He offers to look it up automatically, or let me manually select from a list of programs. None of these options worked.

It depends on what you mean by "had to reinstall Windows XP."

Excel (which is what is generally used to open the *.xls files) is not part of Windows XP.  It is rather a part of Microsoft Office.  If you have reinstalled Windows XP with a CD of Windows XP, you must reinstall Microsoft Office from his own CD.

In the meantime, you can open, view and print (but not change) xls documents using the free Excel Viewer: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=1cd6acf9-ce06-4e1c-8dcf-f33f669dbc3a&displaylang=en

You can get free viewers for Word and Powerpoint as well (see the bottom of the linked page).  If you don't want to buy Microsoft Office, you can download and install Open Office, which is compatible with Microsoft Word, Excel and other MS Office files.

You do not open PDF files in Word. You need a PDF reader.

    Create a file association.

    1. download and save the attachment to the office.
    2. right click on the saved file.
    3. Select: Open with on the shortcut menu.
    4. click on: choose [default] program.
    5 Foxit or Adobe select:
    6. check: always use the selected program to open this type of file.
    7. click on OK.

This should allow you to open these attachments directly from email address now.

    If you need a drive:

Adobe is more "well known", but Foxit is much lighter and my personal preference.
