Noise M40X-183

Hello
I had a sound problem in my M40x when you connect and exit windows I got a hard sound, replacing the original windows sounds of logging and leave that noise increases and decreases by using the sound button. Under windows, the sound works well.
I did system restore but the problem persists. Can anyone help?
thanx

Hello

Sorry but I have no idea what can be the problem. It will be interesting to hear that, because on this path, it is not possible to know exactly how it sounds. Usually after reinstallation of the operating system with recovery media everything should work well.

Try to contact the Service partner or maybe Toshiba hotline. I have really no idea about it.

Good bye

Is it possible to switch from Windows XP to Windows 7 on my Toshiba Satellite M40X-183?

    Hello

Theoretically, you can do everything, but you know how old your laptop is? In my opinion Windows 7 isn't the first choice for good old classic. It of designed for Windows XP and you should be satisfied with this OS.

In my opinion, Windows XP is the best choice for old books, that they are not designed for Windows 7.

  • Satellite M40X-183: Impossible to install photoshop CS2

I have a Satellite M40X-183. I tried to install Photoshop CS2 and it installs everything but the help files and I wait for hours complete the installation, but it is not. Before it took me a long time to set up but once I updated my toshiba software he showed some changes and installed more quickly but still stuck using the part files. It seems to install but it does not actually install anything this either fight the help files and I install Photoshop CS2 on my desktop from the cd, it works very well.

I have similar problems with some other proggrams running.
Is there anyway I can install photoshop? has anyone else had the same problem I have?

    Hello

It's really not easy to say what can be the problem. You will be very happy if someone has exactly the same problem and can give you some explanations. I have installed and tested a lot of different software on my Tecra and up to now, everything works fine.

Problem is that Toshiba is not responsible for the non-Toshiba software and if no one can help you try to contact Adobe support.

Sorry, but I don't see any other solution.

    Good luck!

  • Blue screen when you insert the DVD - M40X

    Hello
I have a new computer laptop toshiba satellite M40x-183. (with DVD super multi)
After ten days of buying it, I found a problem when playing some DVD and CD, when I insert the dvd I got a blue screen saying... There is an error and windows can stop harmful to your pc and I have to contact the support then start dumping from 100% to 0%...
I have tried the dvd in many other dvd players and it works perfectly. Team support here told me that this type of dvd player are unable to process this format how it happens so that older toshiba and other laptop brands can do!
Is there a solution to this?

    Hello

Well, as the support service team say that the DVD player is not able to read this format.
But I can't give you a good answer why it s not possible to play this DVD. It s a simple fact that there are many DVD and CD formats on the market and number of readers is not able to play some formats.
Have you tried to play burn DVDs? I recommend you to test the DVD from other manufacturers. I use TDKs and it works correctly.

  • Satellite M40X - the noise of the fan

    Hi all.

    I have a Toshiba Satellite M40X - 161 (PSM4XE).

I had this problem with the fan of the computer running all the time and make a lot of noise because I bought a few years ago.
Once I had the fan cleaned in the shop of service it was ok for a few days, and then he started again.

Is there a solution for this problem? I read that Toshiba has released new versions of BIOS that solve this problem, but for laptops with ATI/nVidia video cards.

I have an Intel card. Is there something for my model, and someone has fixed this?

    Hello

Is not a friend of the problem.

The cooling modules must be cleaned periodically. It s not enough clean the fans only once the dust appears more if it s necessary to regularly clean the cooling modules.

You should also take a look in the power of the Windows operating system options.
Most of the time it possible s control of the CPU performance and cooling performance that would reduce noise and fan activity.

  • Satellite M40X 185 linux live cd, noise and temperature

    Hello

I just bought a satellite M40X-185. I flashed the bios with success of 1.30 to 1.60. Windows XP home (preinstalled) works perfectly. I found three questions:
    1. when I try to boot from a cd live linux (suse 9.3 dvd, knoppix 3.9 or mandrake move) the system hangs. Any idea of this behavior? With knoppix, it seems to hang while loading driver cardmgr. So I thought it was a problem with the linux cardbus but ultimately suse live driver dvd 9.3 has succedded in load correctly if I disable acpi (command-line ACPI = off). TR is the problem related to M40X material and/or bios version or is it related to linux (the kernel version maybe?). Thank you

    2. it seems to me that coolig system is much more noisy when I use the toshiba power management. If I use win XP default portable power management mode, the computer is much quieter!

    3. is there a way to measure temperatures of system (CPU, MB, GPU, etc...). Previously I have hade a satellite A50 and speedfan (www.almico.com) was able to measure all these parameters.

    Thank you

    Hi Sid

I'll try to answer best I can.

    (1) maybe the system BIOS is not really what the Linux kernel expects and so stops. Please see the Linux very good page of Toshiba:
    http://newsletter.toshiba-tro.de
Maybe you will find some tips on Highway M40 Linux ACPI.

    (2) time MS Toshiba power management and power management is supported by the profiles of school boards. Means that you can set according to your need, how the machine should act. In the Toshiba power management, you have many more opportunities than in the version of Ms. In the Toshiba module, you can choose to have machines operating in performance mode which means that it will give priority to the performance (which normally means of cooling by fan) instead of throttling of the CPU in order to limit heat production.
You can also do the opposite - give priority to silence (fan less and less speed) for the performance.
Of course there are some other settings as well (screen, disk HARD times sleep and so on).
I mean, is that the module from Toshiba is probably set up for performance, which means that you get the fan noise. If you like you can set minimum performance and so less noise. It has its advantage the Toshiba module - it is far better to control of the small parameters and levels of breakdown and time. So, you are in more control of your system.
Sorry for the long lesson - I'm the same at home and he is not popular :)

    (3) sorry - no answer here except that I don't know why anyone would want this. That's enough for me to know that the system controls all of these things by himself and goes off in case of overheating.

  • Questions about SD and USB running Vista on Satellite M40X

Well, I've updated my M40X to VISTA, if it is not mentioned on the list of allow.
Well, actually installed on a new formatted partition.
Runs smoothly, RAM is sufficient, component more slow seems to be the CPU, well, fair enough.

Obviously, I'm not able to get the card reader (chip SD card combo, xD,) or the USB ports running.
The two is listed in Device Manager, the USB hub and the customer of the sd. In addition, there are a storage device mass with a pilot error in the list.
Whenever I have insert well tested cards, USB HDs mp3 players or that it is in the slots the computer sometimes makes noise-ping but does not show any device in Solution Explorer or a new letter of the device.

I think it's some kind of driver issue, but found no solution. Not even after researching dayandnight on forums and other things.
Card reader is "Texas Instruments PCIxx21 Intergrated Flash Media Controller", as I understand it.
Well, I'd be more than happy and greatfull if someone could recommend a solution for these problems, pref with links to the drivers.
    Am really low.

    TIA

    Jan

    Hello

As you know, this laptop model is certainly not support Vista and Toshiba will design all the Vista drivers for this model of laptop. I can imagine that Vista works very well, but without the right drivers, it is not easy to use certain hardware components.

I recommend you to use Windows XP Home edition. WXP works great on this laptop. For all tests, you can install Vista on the second partition to see how it works. I think right after a few weeks remove you Vista and use WXP as before. ;)

  • Satellite M40X fan makes his sometimes strange

    Hello

I have a problem with my Satellite M40X
Sometimes the fan one his strange, something like that had problem with moving
something like "wrrrrr", then it stops making noise and works normally
    What can be wrong?

I have also noticed that if I close the windows abnormally and back on the fan is working full speed all the time
regardless of the degree of activity is CPU,
    What can be the reason?

    Thank you very much

    Hi mate,

doesn´t sound very healthy. I guess your FAN has a serious problem and I think that before you start a long discussion about this would be the best that you contact a partner of service allowed in your country and send your machine for them because your problem is really related to the material.

To find the service center closest to your country follow this link:

  • M40X-141: black screen when you use the WiFi network

Since I bought my M40X 141 in July 2005, I got black screen frequently when you use the wifi.

You know this black screen with typical noise from the hard drive.

I did all the updates without effect. The local seller understood nothing black screen, associated with the use of wifi.

In the XP world, nobody seems to find this kind of abnormal things so I'm desperate to find a solution to stop the frequent black screens. Recently try a usb dlink wifi dongle (dwl-G122) the constant flow of black screens disappeared
(An Xp session 10 days was previously impossible).

Now, I know this is a bug in the original software and I try desespartely to find a patch or updated driver or professional advice.

Is there someone here who can help a tired multi restart man to use his laptop with the original material?

Your laptop should still be guaranteed if you bought in June 2005. Take it to your authorized Service Provider nearest and have their say. They should already provide for a procedure for this and know what to do. Sure the frequency that uses WIFI and display inverter coincides, and you get the black screen. Change them should fix this problem.

  • Satellite M40X-126: disk blocks when the DVD-RAM has been inserted

    Hello

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite M40X-126 with a super multi drive installed. I have a problem with writing to DVD-RAM. Sometimes, when I try to write data to a DVD-RAM disc, the DVD player makes a strange noise, as if the mechanic of material is blocked inside the car. The laptop will not write any data on him and he doesn't notch in this noise. And I can't open the drive, because it is blocked by the software. And windows is blocked as well, I can't do anything. The only thing I can do, is stopped the laptop by pressing the power on button a few seconds.

I do not think, it is a software problem. I have installed all the necessary drivers (UDF) is installed correctly. And DVD - RAM writing runs smoothly most of the time. But I have every 5 times I insert a DVD-RAM disc makes it drive this strange noise and everything is blocked.

My disc is damaged? Who has the same behavior?

    Thank you

    Reto

    Hi Reto

I have the same drive, but it works without problem. I know that DVD-RAM media are expensive, but all I can suggest is you buy another provider and check if it will happen again.

  • Satellite M40X-112 does not start correctly

    Hello

I have a similar problem with my M40X-112. After pressing the power button, th sbutton turns blue, the fan starts
rotation and after a few seconds, the fan stops and nothing happens (no starting, no noise, nothing).
In one of the 30 tests I can see the start screen and also made to put bios in twice, but after
a few seconds, the screen goes black and everything crashes. At any time the blue light of the switch
lights and all three green lights in the front of the laptop are on.

The CMOS battery is empty? Why should remove the battery and AC help in this situation? Due to workload
24 hours with laptop turned on aid (see http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=145557#145557)?

Thank you very much in advance for advice.

    Marc

    > Is the vacuum battery CMOS? Why should remove the battery and AC help in this situation? Made load for 24 hours with laptop turned on help
I don t think that the battery is empty. Your description does not sound like a battery problem.
If the CMOS battery is empty then the laptop could start but only the date and the hour would set the default

So I think that the problem could be linked to more than a motherboard on the question of CMOS battery problem
I think we can discuss the anomaly and we say what part might be bad, but finally it would be only a hypothesis and won't really help to know exactly what's wrong.

So I would say you should ask for verification of the material an ASP.

  • Two problems with my Equium M40X

    Hello

Today, I've suffered two problems, earlier, that the computer refused to wake... I have posted before I have an Equium M40X and so I have no restart button. His arrival on a desk where the computer would not come out of sleep... so I had to pick it up, then remove the battery... While power is still.

Then later the DVD/RAM started weird noises when I put a CD and she underwent a complete block place... same procedure applied. Only this time the battery does not recharge after such a unorthodox procedure... is this normal? I mean remove the battery in a way...

    Hi Jamie,

The usual way of "forcing" a notebook of power off is to hold down the power button for 5 seconds. This causes the system to power down and then you can just turn it on normally.

    Kind regards
