Noise of fan/system increased?

Hello. I have a desktop computer Hewlett Packard Pavilion 8 Windows PC that is two months old and was bought new. The product code is: C3T79EA #ABU

I use it for long hours every day and night have always left it in "sleep" mode and I had to restart it to complete Windows updates. Latest updates installed were for my AMD Raedon HD 7000 graphics.

I went away for the weekend and it stops completely, but still it is plugged. Since back on yesterday, the overall system noise happened which starts from the trunk and while Windows is running. It remains in line with this new sound level - there is no abrupt change in the sound and it doesn't seem as if fans are struggling. It's not a sound, but before that the system ran in silence but now I am aware of this increase.

I read some of the tips on here and tried to look inside the case to check if the dust but couldn't see the obvious signs. I used a vacuum cleaner on all fans to make sure, and I tried to unplug the fan from the motherboard connectors and the main power cable, but nothing helped.  I also installed a program called SpeedFan, and he gave me a minus 128 degrees for one of the readings of temperature fan - surely this confirms that there is a problem?

I would appreciate any other suggestions because as I mentioned this happened only after two days of non-use, when the system is normally used daily for several hours. Thank you very much.

Have managed to fix. I loaded BIOS and it is immediately returned to be calm and kicked up accordingly. I now have my rear silent PC.

    Gentlemen.

in our society, we use the portable Toshiba Tecra for 3 months.
The fan noise is to us aloud, you always hear the fan sitting a meter away from the computer (no CPU load).

What helps a little was to change in the
Control Center Power Options (change Plan settings-> change advanced power-> TOSHIBA Power Saver Settings-> cooling method settings * to * + battery + Optimized).

But you can still hear the fan turning at 40%-45% when the CPU/system temperature is 40 degrees Celsius.

On the guy last week also receives a new laptop of Toshiba R850, it is very quiet.
The difference is that, in his notebook, an SSD is installed (instead of a HARD drive).

If the SDS make the difference of fan noise? (we do not believe it).

Maybe someone has had the same experience and has a solution?

    Thanks in advance

  • Problems of excessive noise and fan performance.

(I found a few similar posts, none seem to have any kind of resolution. I already submitted details to the comments for OS - X and MacBook Pro, because I know that Apple doesn't really care these forums.)

I'm computer LITERATE in a company with more than 40 Macs. Most are 15 "and 13" MacBook Pro retinas, with some older MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and Mac mini. Almost all have had many problems of performance and especially complaints relating to noise fan since the upgrade to El Capitan.

All Macs seem to rotate at about twice their original fan speed, even at idle with nothing else running in the foreground. If something - it is actually worse with time and not better. Some of them seem to be entering a mode "overheating" and the limitation of the CPU frequently, even with no real warning to the user. We receive complaints from fans go "full throttle" and not something unusual applications of grinding to a halt, while the activity monitor recount. Even these days - I'm writing this, my MacBook Pro runs only Safari and mail and fans just 15 "kicking until probably at 80% for no apparent reason. The CPU load is only about 8% currently according to activity monitor.

The usual "fix" to a SMC reset and a clean install of the operating system seems to have no effect. We spent a lot of time in recent weeks reset wiping of Macs to try to resolve these problems. They are located on machines that have been almost completely unless they were actually under heavy load (such as virtual computers running or doing graphics/video editing), with the only change being an 'upgrade' to El Capitan.

New - the same questions and complaints are reported in almost all of our Macs. I noticed similar problems on my MBP of House. I have a Mac Mini in my office who spends just Safari to view a network monitor page. It used to be silent and cycles now the fan and turns off often.

At least while taking into account what is actually run on them, as well as information from the activity monitor, it does not appear that the CPU is overheating. It seems that something has gone wrong with the heat in recent management, as El Capitan assign a lower threshold than before well. I am everything to keep these systems cool, especially since Mbit/s in particular seem to run pretty hot anyway, but when the noise of the fans like a small jet taking off-it is a problem for many people.

If anyone has found a solution to this, I'd love to hear it. Otherwise - if you are having similar problems - please send to Apple Feedback then perhaps they will at least look at or respond.

If you run any antivirus Mac remove the system. A 3rd party cleaning or maintenance or utility network, any 3rd party firewall they are infamous resource pigs and Mac AV is responsible for a good part of mac OS that any other type of software while offering no protection against anything like that.

systems running 10.11 with 4 GB of RAM or less will spend a good amount of time cached and if this is the case look into upgrading your RAM, if it's an option.

If this isn't the case reset the SMC (which you did) followed by a PRAM reset as outline in this paper.

  • Noise of fan with Satellite U205-S5057

I can't find any practical solution on the web.

My Satellite is constantly the fan noise loud enough, even if little application runs.

Someone knows a good solution for this (apart from the replacement of materials).
This will be resolved by some BIOS settings or parameters of performance (energy-saving mode, etc.)?

    Thanks in advance

    * @ jomtones *.
There is no Toshiba Power saver for Vista! That's why you can't change these settings!
As you know, Vista has need of more resources and this would lead to an increase in consumption CPU/GPU and the high temperature. As a result, the cooling modules run more often.

  • Noise noisy fan on Satellite L555-12V

Two days ago, I bought L555-12V to MediaMarkt. The fan noise is terribly strong.
The fan runs at 70-80% with a CPU load of only 2 or 3%, surfing with firefox and not other open programs.

It looks like a hair dryer. It is so strong that you can't stand to be near the laptop for more than 10 minutes. It is therefore impossible to work with.

I've tried everything. Uninstall unnecessary software, changed Windows power profiles, changed the Toshiba Power Saver Settings; on maximum performance, that the fan never turns market optimized battery fan is off for a minute then on incredibly strong 80% for one minute, and so on. Power switch.

Is anyone else having these problems with the fan noise?

Is this the same problem as A500 owners with 1.20 BIOS on their machines?

Will there be an update of the BIOS for L555-12V as there was of the A500?
This cured for lack them of fan noise. At the present time there is no new BIOS posted on the support page.

If this isn't the case, I'll have to take the laptop return it for a refund. I find a shame as the laptop seems also very well. However, this machine is unusable for some time in its current state.

    > changed the Toshiba Power Saver Settings; on maximum performance, that the fan never turns market optimized battery fan is off for a minute then on incredibly strong 80% for one minute, and so on. Power switch.

maximum performance means that the cooling modules would go to full power. This means that the fan is always running!

optimized battery means that the cooling fans will start to run only if the temperature would reach a certain level, which is why cooling modules is triggered if the temperature would be reduced and would begin again if the temperature level would increase

    > Will there be an update of the BIOS for L555-12V as there was of the A500?
Who knows I checked the page pilot European Toshiba and didn t find a BIOS update for L555-12V (PSLWSE) series I found a BIOS for the PSLW8E series

However, I think you should wait a bit and must check the driver page in the next time that maybe new BIOS would be available

  • Noise of fan on Satellite Z830-10J

    Hello

I just bought the Toshiba Satellite Z830 - 10J and am very surprised by the loud fan noise!

I read on other forums that the sound could be stronger depending on the device or that an update of the BIOS might help slow down the activity of the fan when the laptop is running idle. Anyone know if there is a cure for the fan noise?

For me, it's really impossible to work with such a current noise!

    Thank you for your help.

At the time don t think about upgrading the BIOS.
What you should try is first of all the settings of cooling method.

Open the power profile that you use (probably balanced) > Advanced Power options > Toshiba Power Saver Settings > cooling method and change the two optimized battery options.

It should reduce the activity of fan cooling.

  • Dv6-6060sa I have discrete graphics memory or graphics memory UMA? + Where is 'Fan System' B "

    Hello

I will try to replace a fan on my Pavilion DV6-6060sa laptop, I have been looking around on the net and read through the repair earlier to better understand which component needs to be replaced.

I'll be changing the system 'B' fan, as indicated by the message error at startup. (I tried the jet of air through the vents, but it did not work.)

In order for me to buy the correct number, I need to know if I have the Discrete or UMA memory.

As stated above, I have a Pavilion DV6-6060sa unit, the extract below comes from the maintenance manual.

    (12) heat sink (includes the thermal material replacement):

For use only with the computer models equipped with ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650
    graphics subsystems
    518435 001

Intended only for computers models graphics subsystems with discreet
    graphics memory
    512837 001

Intended only for computers models graphics subsystems with UMA
    graphics memory
    512830 001

Could you let me know what part number I require and also send me a link for a HP original spare part please?

The fan I will replace is the closure of the fan of the power button, looking down to the laptop from a view of eye birds that it is located on the upper left corner. The two vents (the left one) and the other on the part superior usud have hunted air of the fan, which is now not working. I guess it's the 'B' system fan and the heat sink?

Please can you confirm the above information?

Including a description of what 'B' system fan is? (Thank you)

    I appreciate your help, Simon.

  • ProBook 470 G3: ProBook 470 G3 fan system after flashing the BIOS errors

B has recently purchased a HP ProBook 470 G3 with i7 CPU. When I got the laptop I placed my own memory and M.2 SSD in and performed a clean installation of Windows 10 x 64. Everything was fine, I installed all the drivers and the laptop worked perfectly. However, when I flashed the new BIOS, V1.07 Rev A, I started to have problems.

I use the laptop for academic purposes, I so open and close several times a day. After flashing the BIOS again, the laptop awake sometimes not, and trying to turn off it I had to remove the battery. Would not even holding down the power button for 20 seconds. While booting after removing the battery, I'd get a system error, 90 b error code fan.

I tried re flashing version 1.07, but returned eventually to version 1.06. This version works very well. It was a real let up to me, given that this laptop costs €1400,- and should be a book reliable business.

Is their another experiecing the same problems? If so, how do fix you it? And no one knows when they will be a stable version of BIOS V1.07?

Use the PC Hardware diagnosis UEFI to restore the previous BIOS so that that you flashed cause questions.

Press the power button and then immediately begin to press the F2 key to evoke the Diagnostics menu.

Choose firmware management. In the menu next, choose and click on revert to the previous version.

You can also create and use the 3-in-1 usb to accomplish the same.

  • Pavilion dv7 WC159EA #ABU: the fan RPM increases a lot whenever I plug my battery

I recently bought a new battery for my laptop and when I plug it, while my charger is plugged, the fan THAT RPM increases as if I use 100% CPU at 100% of RAM. Could it be caused by the new battery?

    I have a hp dv7-3111ea and bought this battery http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140961851908 .

    Hi @CreaTivEuk,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome.  I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion dv7-3111ea Notebook and questions with the new battery. Here is a link to test and calibrate the battery.

Plug the power supply directly to a wall outlet works. Do not connect it a power strip, surge arrester, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.

The link you sent shows me the correct battery for your HP laptop.

I recommend to restore the default settings of the BIOS with this document by selecting the reload the default BIOS settings

    Thank you.

  • Pavilion slimline s5110uk - works without a fan system!

I get the message "press F2 to continue system fan fail" when starting.

I read on another post that this fan is not so important, and you can use your machine without it - is that true?

The processor fan is to find work; also have a power turbine replacement, which is apparently cooler than the original

I intend to try to get a replacement, but I was wondering how much I can push my luck in the meantime!

    Webbo, welcome to the forum.

Since the business Slimline is so small, it does not allow for good air circulation.  Therefore, I would not recommend the computer without the system running fan.  Heat can build up quickly and cause a possible component failure.

Also, here's a guide that will help you with the upgrade of the power supply.

  • e7240 CONSTANT NOISE OF FAN NOISY / FAN RUNNING ALL THE TIME

We received 2 nine E7240s directly from Dell, one for me and one for my colleague. As soon as I turned it on to build for my colleague, I noticed that the machine was overheating and the fan made a noise. Dell offers an upgrade of the BIOS that has not changed anything. They then changed the radiator, even once, that does not change and since then, they have changed the motherboard. My colleague went on vacation, so I don't know if the problem has been resolved, however, my laptop day you do not overheat (also of course as it has done for my colleague) BUT THE FAN RUNS ALL THE TIME. So much so that I think that the person in the room upstairs is using his hairdryer. Dell has replaced the heatsink of heat and the motherboard yesterday, I did the same update of the BIOS and the problem is even worse. As soon as I turn the thing, the fan runs all the time making a big noise. My predecessor was the E6500 and I was not bothered by noises, he did.

The 7240 made so much noise that I want to throw it out the window , seriously, I go back to my old 5 years e6500, which is now very slow, I can not just take constant hair dryer of the fan noise! I'm waiting for Dell back to me, but I don't see what else they can do.

I suspect a problem of design with newer models, someone with a laptop computer Latitude 13 also mentioned it on the Forum, someone else with an e7240 also said "I noticed the fan turns most of the time - it's quiet, but you don't know is spinning."  I just implemented, so the CPU is busy enough. "A person with the e6320 says"and the fan is noisy and turns far too often.

I just bought a new Dell Latitude E7240 with Windows 7 laptop and had the same problem with overheating and the fan is running loudly all the time. I just fixed it on my laptop, it may not work for everyone but just in case I walked it here.

The index for me was that the question has happened at home, not at work.

    • Using the Task Manager, I found that a "svchost.exe" process was always running at 25% of the CPU, i.e. to take 100% of one of the 4 hearts. For this you need view all processes, and that's why you need a local administrator account if she asks permission.
    • With right click on this process-online 'Go to services', you can study what services are hosted by this instance of svchost.
    • For each of these services, try to stop one at a time (if it helps) and see if the CPU usage goes down. For me, a clue was a service stuck on 'Stop' but never stopped.
    • The service which for me was the "HomeGroup provider." That's why the issue has happened at home and at work. The laptop had spotted my homegroup on my home network, but had not been able to accede. Maybe a problem with IPv6 that I could not turn on my desk.
    • In the Services tab in Task Manager, get on the service properties, which set to Disabled Startup Type.
    • Restart the laptop, to ensure that the service is stopped.

That did the trick for me, and now the CPU remains less than 5% when idle. This isn't the problem that the fan is noisy when the CPU usage is high, but for me what rarely happens now.

If you want to access files and printers on your home network without the homegroup feature, you can still do that the old way:

    • Network and sharing Center-Online avancΘs => Homegroup Connection-online 'use user accounts to connect to other computers.
    • Also in the settings advanced: enable discovery network. and Turn on File and Printer Sharing.
    • Then, you can click on your wifi network => add a printer.
    • If your office does not appear, click on "Not listed", then browse. As long as the network discovery and printer sharing are enabled, desktop PC should appear and you can connect using your local Windows user name and password.

    Hope this helps someone.
