  This Eizo has a normal resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. I expect not to see a lot of benefits of using the GPU. You really see the advantage to screens that are at least 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) or more. On small screens, you can see some benefits with smoother updates if you ONLY use the base sliders to develop. If you use brushes, turning on the GPU can actually slow you down a bit. In most cases, loading images in develop is also slower when you activated!   I think you're talking about using the crop tool? If you're cropping with a size and resolution that involves interpolation of the image, the crop tool will use your preference for the Interpolation of the Image. By default, bicubic is automatic, which can easily result in a sharp file. Change your preference (in general) to bicubic and you shouldn't see any sharpening.

    • NOTE: not all 3rd party kernel extensions are causing problems, but when there is a kernel panic, it's the first thing to look at.

  It is a problem due to the fact that AOE 2 was built on the platform Windows 95/98 Win9x. It will expose a few graphical artifacts while playing.   Check if your video card has its own program/parameters adjustment control panel and use it to adjust your settings more towards the side of the 'quality' rather than the side 'Performance' and see if that smooth your edges for you.  Also, you said that your system is new.  You can look into having served through your warranty.  You also need to make sure that it is not getting too hot.  Laptops produce a lot of heat and if it doesn't get good ventalation / or enough, then he can begin to display this type of behavior.  I had to go out and get a 'cooling block' for mine to keep it cool.  I hadn't started to have problems because of the heat, but I decided on my own that he was too hot.   Hope this bit of info helps.
