None put into Hibernate or standby in Windows Vista on Portege M200

Hello

I use a M200 with 2 GB of RAM, latest BIOS and Windows Vista business. As well as a few minor problems, I can't go to the energy saving Mode or Hibernation.
After entering the command, the screen turns black and either nothing happens, or I got a blue screen after a few minutes. The only way to back the M200 to work is a hard reset.

My BIOS is on the latest version (1.6?) and I installed the nVidia driver from the Toshiba Support Site and most of the other drivers and programs. I googled a lot to solve the problem, but could not get a clue. Most problems depend on getting the M200 return to hibernation, but I coulnd't even not get inside.

Other problems occur when the M200 starts in the docking station. Different parameters of the screen and the brightness unmodifiable. Maybe, if you have already solved my problem, you have a solution for everything :(

Yours Alexander

Hello

are you sure that the powersaver has been correctly installed? I would say to set all the default BIOS settings and reinstall the "common modules" and the "Toshiba powersaver" because those are the programs that are relevant enemy these things like powersaving mode and standby/hibernation

Would also be interesting if you can answer the question if it worked with XP (I mean put in hibernation). You can also check if the "hibernation" file is set correctly.
You can check this by taking a peek in powersaver and looking at what settings have been made...

Please give some comments because something is missing, some small detail that I need you help.

  • laptop is not put into hibernation after "standby mode"

    Reference Dell dear community,

    I have an Insipron 17R core i5 zm2410, NVIDIA Geforce 525 m, win8 64bits and I am facing a problem with hibernation mode / sleep.

About 2 weeks ago my laptop went mode hibernation after beeing in mode 'sleep' for 2 hours on battery (for total draining of the battery to advoid).

Now, it is not do it anymore but remains on "sleep" during all the time and drains the battery.

I usually remove the power cable from the laptop during the night because of the noise of the adapter and the laptop always put into hibernation after beeing in mode 'sleep'. I went over the configuration in options plans and power supply and even reset and configured them again, without success.

The only changes made to the system are important updates of windows

I'm grateful for any suggestions or solutions.

Have you checked to see if Hibernation is still active? Open an administrator mode command prompt and type: powercfg/h on.

  • Unexpected shutdown after hibernate or standby on Windows 7

For a few months now whenever I boot Windows 7 (64 bit Ultimate) after hibernation my laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad T500) it's a normal startup and then he pointed out that there was an unexpected stop.  I think that happens with sleep so well I rarely do it. Of course, my computer battery is close to death (only keeps for about 50% of initial charge), but I don't see why that should be a problem when I Hibernate when plugged into the wall.  Other than these issues, the computer is healthy and up-to-date with all its drivers so I have no idea what could be the culprit. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello

I had this problem once I was able to solve with Darrell Gorter from Microsoft.

    1. run CMD. EXE as administrator
    2. run the following command: bcdedit - enum all
Search for "Summary of Hibernate" in the output of the command above (example below):
    Out of the hibernation
    ---------------------
    identifier {3d8d3081-33ac-11dc-9a41-806e6f6e6963}
    Device partition = C:
    path \Windows\system32\winresume.exe
    Description

    inherit {resumeloadersettings}
    FILEDEVICE partition = C:
    FilePath \hiberfil.sys
    PAE Yes
    debugoptionenabled No.

    3. Once you have found, copy the value of the identifier (in this example - {3d8d3081-33ac-11dc-9a41-806e6f6e6963})
    4. run the following command: bcdedit /deletevalue {3d8d3081-33ac-11dc-9a41-806e6f6e6963} inherit
    5. test hibernation

you do not etc system restore disk cleanup to put your computer to the standards of the factory how you bought it if that's what you hear

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of vista recovery discs and also ask them if you have a vista recovery partition on your hard drive to reinstall vista back to factory standards

you will normally need to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process vista back to factory standards

Ask them the sequence of keys to use to start the process from the recovery partition

  • Windows 7 RC - Portege M200 - Base system device

Windows 7 RC works well on my M200, but Device Manager is showing a "other device" without driver loaded. He is described as "Base system device" and properties indicates its location as "PCI Bus 2, device 13, function 0'.

I tried online searches and navigation within my M200 for a driver without success. I read elsewhere in these forums that the 'Base system device' could be tied up with the SD utilities. I downloaded a new copy of the SD utilities and installed them, but still no luck. Certainly, the SD format utility does not work - it recognizes not only an SD card in inserted - so maybe the necessary revision of SD utilities for Windows 7.

Not a major problem as I can format SD cards elsewhere, but it would be nice to receive a certificate of good health from Device Manager.

Has anyone another execution in this problem and even better, found a solution?

    Keith Woolf

You are right about revision. All the drivers, tools and utilities for Windows 7 must be designed and tested before they are offered for download. As you know Windows 7 is not yet on the market and the public support can not be started. With first notebook comes with Windows 7 Toshiba Toshiba will be support for the new site and some old models of laptops.

Sorry but there is nothing you can do about it.

Otherwise, a CD to install Windows Vista normal company accepts OEM Acer product key or I will have to try to find the disc from Acer?

  • Windows Vista won't Hibernate.

    Hi all

I'm on Windows Vista Home Premium and I have a problem with getting to stay in sleep mode extended computer.

I used to have Windows XP, and it was really easy. I had set it up as follows: display off after 15 minutes, standby mode after 30 minutes and hibernate after 45 minutes. I could manually put it in hibernation in the start menu.

I tried to get the same set up on Windows Vista, but I found it returns from hibernation in itself. If I select "Hibernate" in the start menu and then it will go into hibernation, but when I get back to the machine it will be still operational with the login screen again.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

When I activate the hibernation it will normally, but when the monitor takes blue and says "prepare put into hibernation" the monitor or system do not shoutdown (turn off), why?

    Sorry for my English.

    Hey Buddy,

Sometimes, these problems of hibernation / suspension are caused by some programs that can't be closed from vista. Or your toshiba powersaver works bad, maybe some settings have been
badly configured through that-I-know-what program or something else.

I suggest you first: when you try to hibernate/suspend, then try pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL to see what applications are STILL running. Try closing the applications in the order of
see when the machine will be really placed in hibernation. If this doesn´t has helped you, then try reinstalling the powersave (first uninstall correctly your system) and give a few

  • computer won't stay asleep or put into hibernation

I have recently reinstalled Windows 7 on a desktop computer.  I used to leave it on all the time but now I want it to go to sleep or put into hibernation after a few minutes (and stay that way until we want to use it).  I tried to sleep, hibernate and hybrid sleep.  It will turn off, but in a few minutes he returned upward by itself.  Sometimes it seems to scroll, and down every few minutes.

I read that USB devices can cause this, but only the mouse and keyboard are attached via the USB port.  There are two internal hard drives.

    A thought-

Check the network and sharing Center

Some settings of the map change

A click with the right button on your network adapter

    Select Properties

    Select Configure, then power management

and make sure that allow this device to wake the computer is not checked?

I run an xp windows 2003-04. My computer does not start completely and if I click on debug or put end to the program there just restarts the computer. How can I solve this problem? and is it possible that I can update my software?

You say that you can not even start in Safe Mode, so method 1 will not help you, method 2 will not help you and 3 method will not help you.

I start in the XP Recovery Console and first run a chkdsk/r on the afflicted system, but since we don't know anything about your system, we will need more information.

It is a shame that in the forums MS Answers, the first response to a new question is (or should be) a request for more information...  You are 5 days in your problem, and so for him it seems that you are not getting anywhere.  If the thread goes inactive for more than a few days, the response of the Microsoft Support Engineer will become the 'response' automatically because it has links to the KB articles.

Since the Microsoft Answers forum does not have any kind of information system request when a new question is asked, we know absolutely nothing about your system.  Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.

Thank you MS Answers, allowing the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.

Provide information on your system, the better you can:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Your system have IDE or SATA disks?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?
