Norton Utilities issues and recovery disks

I just bought a HP laptop and have two questions.

1. the seller told me to make sure I'm doing the recovery discs as they do not come with the computer and will cost $40 if ordered from the company and will take about two weeks to arrive, if necessary. I asked him to explain WHAT and HOW I have to copy and he said that he was not certain, but there was a program in Vista that will help me. I could not get additional info about him, so I'll make my case here. The computer must happen tomorrow and I would like to get set up right now, but want to make sure that I have the recovery disk, just in case.

2. I have Norton security for my office and just paid for subscription one year. Someone told me that Norton was not fine with Vista and they were switched to another program. (a) your thoughts?  (b) simpler method to add Norton 2nd comuter if you agree this software is sufficient.

What are the 'tags' on this forum?

Someone on this forum in a previous post suggested my Netgear router. I bought and found setup a breeze. Now, once I get my laptop, I have to see it's good... love it so far!

Thank you for a well written and easy to understand, Kazoo Tom (can't keep teacher out of me, sorry). I would have guessed there would be some type of security included with the computer as a marketing tool. That part stress goes, I feel ill at ease, leaving my computer vulnerable even for a few minutes.

The saleswoman told me that Vista had a recovery program, but did not know where he was or how to find it.

I guess that IF the computer is plugged in, your comment about having the fully charged battery is not relevant. I would make the drive recovery immediately, if I can.

Once again, thank you for the great response to my questions.

This recovery is not understandable to me.
    What do you want exactly?

Is that each new Toshiba notebook comes with the image of HARD drive recovery and recovery disk must be created using the preinstalled Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.

  • Satellite L505D-S5965 and recovery disk Creater

I did a clean install of windows 7 when I updated and no longer have the Toshiba recovery disc creator.
I can always start disk recovery tool HARD I did not delete this partition when I upgraded. I would like to be able to create a recovery for my system disk in case something happened to my hard drive.

Where can I download it Toshiba Recovery disk creator tool? Is there another way for me to get a recovery disk?

    Stand by.
I think with your answers you're going in the wrong direction.
Good question, but you asked very Timox offered no exact answer.

Please do not mix two very important but completely different things:
    # New laptops computers are delivered without recovery DVD and the DVD of the facilities must be created by the owner of the laptop. For this application, Toshiba has installed small tool called 'Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator'. This tool can be used for creating discs of facilities only.
    # I don't know not what you understand under HARD drive recovery tool but the fact is that recovery image is recorded on the second partition and can be used for the installation of HARD drive recovery. This can be done if you plant only settings. After the clean operating system installation, you probably won't be able to start the installation of the HARD disk even if the recovery files are always saved on the second partition.

As I see you have American portable model. I don't know exactly how it works there but the principle must be the same as here in Europe.

At startup, you must press F8 or zero to enter advanced startup options. There you should find option repair my computer and next to this option, you enter the with recovery option Toshiba system recovery options.
When you install the clean operating system, this option will be gone. I describe how it works now on the European models, but I think we model it should be similar.

    Once again the important questions:
Have you ever tried to start installation of HARD drive recovery (F8 or 0 at startup)?
Can you he start now after installing Win7? If this isn't the case, you have a problem. I just hope that you created the recovery DVDs when you got your laptop.

  • 2 questions: touchpad and recovery disk

I installed Windows seven and then proceed to installing the drivers of recovery disk, but everytime I start this it says it will restart my computer. After reboot, nothing happens and when I run it restarts again again and again... What can I do with it?

The other problem is that my touchpad no longer works, after installing Windows 7. It worked on Vista, it worked on linux, but it does not work on 7. I installed all the drivers for the touchpad on the official website and I tried a few random from the internet but the touchpad simply doesn't work. How can I solve this problem?

    EDIT:
    My computer is L500-126

  • satellite boot and recovery disk problem, help please...

    Hello

Well, here's the question. My satellite is a few years old all of a sudden, she leaves the start. Gets the starting address windows xp mode then hangs and repeats the process. So I thought, well... I just install my recovery discs...

Well well, thank you for a reason, and his frustration as what... I get an error of bad machine. Don't allow me to install my recovery disks. Call toshiba, they say my warranty has expired have to go pay a service representative... Arrgh...

This was purchased new and this is the correct machine...
Anyway... when I'm bad machine, I get:
    Failed installation aborted/a process!
    A:/>_
I'm assuming, there is something I can type here to recognize my machine... Any ideas? Toshiba was no help. Or... If you have an idea how can I start this thing without recoery disks.

    Thanks in advance...

    Hello
before anyone can say anything, I would be nice to know what type of laptop you have.
Cause Toshiba has in the meantime changed the recovery process.

    Good bye

  • New hard drive and recovery disks

    Hello!

I will replace my origianl HD with a new in a NC6400 laptop.  I have the recovery disks created when I received it.  Is it just a matter of changing the drive and running recovery disks?  Will be - this re-install all the drivers for the laptop as well?  I know that all data and installed programs will not be there, it's the drivers I'm worried.

    Thank you

    Hello

Your recovery disks will reinstall your operating system, all the drivers and all the software that originally came with your laptop.  They will also recreate the Partition Recovery D: on the new drive.

    I hope this helps.

  • Motherboards and recovery disks

    Hello

    I have a Pavilion Media Center m7580n.

About 2 years ago, my original motherboard is dead. I was not able to find the exact model at the time, so went with a similar model.

I said that my recovery disks will not work with this different motherboard (I've never tried).

If I were to acquire the same motherboard model as the original, my recovery disks would be usable again?

    Thank you

The more often that it involves the use of an HP authorized technician or service center.

  • Rescue and recovery disk letters - error message

You try to run rescue and recovery after partitioning my hard drive in the following error message results:

"The last backup of this system includes the following drive letters:

Your system currently is backup of the following drive letters:

    E:

Please set the letters as they were before and run another backup. You may need to exclude partitions created since the last backup.

Now, I've changed the options to exclude E: but I was wondering is it possible to include in backups - I have to save it on a USB drive without any previous backups on this subject? And is it a good idea to use R & R for backup partitions?

    Any advice much appreciated!

Tri - need a backup USB drive put in shape and it worked well.

  • partitions and recovery disk

I have a satellite a10 and have partitioned the hard drive. Now, I have a small primary fat16 partition with a bootmanager, a partition main ntfs with windows xp and a partition extended, completely occupied by logical ntfs partitions with my documents. My wish was to install another operating system, making the smaller primary ntfs partition and put in the form of free space unallocated as a new primary partition.
BUT... when I was doing the smaller partition, an error has occurred, and the computer is unbootable. Now, I think, my windows partition is damaged and have no chance to save.
WHEN I try to use the toshiba recovery cd, will I have any chance not to format the entire disk, backup of my documents? Is possible to format (install Windows inside) that the space left by the corrupted partition?

Thanks to all those who will read and help me!

  • Mirar toolbar problems and recovery disk?

My kids accidentally downloaded the Mirar Toolbar, and it has really raised heck with my count. I'm not knowledgeable enough to go into the registry and fix everything, but managed to slow it down a bit. I get pop up Windows I am in another site, and also if I try to go anywhere in a search engine, it refers me to a different search site. Real boring!  A friend told me that I have to throw everything away and start again, but I don't have a disk for my windows XP, or the original dic of HP with all the drivers I needed to reinstall. What are my options? Help!  My model is P9816A, HP Pavillion 04.

Hello fairtime2, sorry to hear about your problems with your HP computer. It seems you might have a virus. From your description, it seems to be a virus.

You normally would not have any disk backup of your system, but rather a backup of partition on your hard disk to restore the system to its original state when shipped from HP.

Here a link to how to restore from recovery for your computer. You will lose all the data added to the computer, since you started using it.

Just look at the Windows XP Recovery section.

As your system is so unstable, you may not be able to accomplish this from Windows.

On some systems, when the system boots, you can see a screen that will show you a few options.

Just look at the recovery section during startup.

One of these options is for a restoration of recovery. Simply press the F10 key repeatedly to enter this recovery restore utility.

Choose to format the hard drive. You will get an error that all data will be lost, but just continue and in 15 minutes, the system must be restored to its original state.

This seems to be the only way to recover from some of these nasty viruses.

    I hope this helps.

  • Satellite L300 - cannot enter Windows and recovery disk will not stand

    Good evening

I have a Satellite L300. A month ago, I bought and install an upgrade to Windows 7 (I had Vista). Last night, my laptop was working fine and this morning when I opened it I got this error:

BOOTMGR is corrupt. the system cannot start.

I did some research and tried to boot from the recovery disc. Laptop computer the disc I get the windows is looding files screen and then a company Microsoft is displayed with a bar above it and then I get a blue screen that says:

    PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED vista

Now what can I do to reformat my computer and reinstall if I can't load the recovery disc!

I tried to put my DVD of Vista I have for my other PC, but I have another error black screen...

Can someone tell me what I can do now?

Is it because I have a recovery CD for Windows Vista and not 7?

Okay, so I read several post here and the only thing I can't think is the hard drive... but it had already changed a few months ago by Toshiba... now my laptop is not less guarantee more with Toshiba, but I have an extended warranty with my VISA... If anyone has any idea here, I'll try to bring it where they change HARD drive the last time...
