Not found operating system - Windows 7 after Windows Update

Hi all

My Dell Studio 1737 was upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Ultimate in November last year. I have no problems apart from a few minor problems with the DVD player. Last night, ran Windows update and 4 updates before you shut down correctly installed. This morning, I rebooted and the message - operating system not found. I can't access the hard drives or DVD to try a reinstall. By pressing the F8 function key just the fact of restart. Any ideas on how to recover the system would be greatly received.

Thank you
Kevin

KevinHB,
Are you able to start on the CMOS screen (Dell)?  I think you press F2 during the Dell splash screen.  If you are able to boot to CMOS it recognize your HD?  You have a Windows 7 DVD?  If so check that the DVD player is set as the first boot device, and then try to boot from it.
If you are not able to access CMOS or the DVD is set as the first boot device and won't start him, then you need to contact Dell, because it can be a hardware\BIOS problem.

  • Problem re-installing VISTA after the removal of Windows 8 Preview Release, all I get is a black screen with a message "Not found operating system"

I recently tried Win 8 on my VAIO laptop spare parts on which I ran Vista, after having previously deleted all the files and documents (I don't use often the laptop). Having concluded that Win8 will really work correctly with a touch screen (and the display size was bad as well), I uninstalled WIN 8, understand that I have to re - install Vista from my rescue disks. This I tried successfully a few months previously to make a clean reinstall. However, after removing 8 WIN via the Control Panel, I can't re - install Vista now. All I get is a black screen with a message "The operating system not found" and the rescue disks do not register. What can I do? I like Vista (although I now run Win 7 on my PC) and really want to put it back. Grateful for the advice.

Well I finally fixed it by tweaking the BOOT BIOS settings and find something along the lines of VAIO Setup. I'm afraid, I just don't remember exactly what I did, but suddenly I found and ran 'VAIO Hardware Diagnostics' gave me a heart when it announced "no error was detected on the Vaio. Then I saw there was an entry for 'VAIO Recovery Utility - Recovery Wizard' and everything started to load. Since the 2 recovery discs I had. Finally, I ran MS Office and Small Business CD-ROM and now everything is back the way that it used to be. Here I had taken more note of how I got to the well Recovery Wizard. I hope that I never have to do it again!

When I turned it on with the hope of finding some articles that I had out there in Microsoft, the following appeared on my screen: "operating system not found '. I have the original HP Pavilion recovery disk (there are 2 of them). My question is: can I reinstall these discs and NOT to lose any Word or Excel documents that are out there.

I try to avoid big costs back to Best Buy. Hope someone out there can give me some advice on this.

When I turned off my laptop and turn it on, I get the error message in the upper left corner that says ' operating system not found '.  I then hit the power button to turn off, and then click New to market, and the laptop starts fine. Is happening here?  Even if I select 'restart'... the error messge comes when he tries to restart after it has been switched off.

It works when I just deactivated after the message and replace the slot - but I'm worried.  The PC is only a month and this just started happening a few days ago and seems to happen every time.

    Two quick notes here:

1: reset the BIOS to default settings is a very good idea, it sets the HARD drive to start the first and default options of start-up of the plant is affecting as well.

2: change the settings SATA IDE mode is not recommended, nor do you need a supervisor password. Clear the secure boot settings are also possible by resetting BIOS to the default settings. And evolution boot to the legacy mode is ONLY a good idea if you plan to install Windows 7, Vista or XP "or another completely OS, such as Linux.

Realistic, this problem is most often caused by being altered or modified Boot Manager. To resolve this problem in Windows 8 open the bar charms and click settings. Now click on change settings of the computer on the lower part of the menu that opened. Click the general tab and scroll all the way to the bottom of the list to the right. Under advanced boot, click "restart now."

The computer will load into the advanced boot screen. There's a blue screen with white writing. Click on troubleshooting.

If you have data that you don't want to lose, you have to click on refresh your PC. He's going to do exactly this and leave your single files. However, it is not as effective of a thing and the second option. If it does not back up your data and try to reset instead.

If you don't have files to lose or don't care if you lose them click on Reset. It will take some time but will reinstall Windows and rewrite your boot file.

    I hope this helps!

    Hello slbhattar,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I understand that you are having problems after that a Windows Update could not be installed correctly. I recommend that you use the Windows System Restore feature and restore your system to a point in time before that you did the update that caused the problem.

Before you do the restore, I would recommend that save us your personal files. You can do this by following the HP support document: backup of files (Windows 8). This document will guide you in the backup process. I advise do you it just in case, but the Windows restore feature should not affect personal files.

Now that you have your saved personal files, we can make the Windows system restore. You can see how to do this by following the HP support document: use Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8). This document will guide you in the process of restoration. Be warned applications or settings that you have changed by the date that you choose will need to be redone or reinstalled.

I think that this will solve your problem with the update and allow you to go back to listening to your HP computer. Thanks for posting this topic on the Forums of HP. Have a great day!

    Hi Johanna,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you can not use the USB in Windows 7.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I will definitely help you with this

    1. you get any error message?

2 have you tried using different USB ports?

    3. any other USB key works on the computer in question?

    4. do the USB works on any other computer?

5 have had any changes made to the computer before the show?

    Please follow the methods.

    Method 1:

Run the Microsoft fixit for the link.

Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/en-us

    Method 2:

As all devices have same also have USB device associated drivers. Appropriate sometimes drivers not detected after initial installation so reinstalling the drivers can fix the problems.

You can check after uninstalling and reinstalling USB drivers if you are able to connect. You can disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

    (a) click Startand then click Control Panel.

    (b) click system and Maintenance, click System, and then click Device Manager.

    (c) Note if the control panel is in Classic view, double-click Systemand then click on Device Manager.

    (d) If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

    (e) in Device Manager, double-click to expand the "USB Bus controllers", right click on the controller host, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".
Check that if at all, there is an exclamation point on the pilot, it suggests problems with the installed driver.

    (f) repeat step 2 to uninstall all items under 'USB Bus controllers'.

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will automatically reinstall all USB controllers.

We would be more than happy to help you if the steps above did not solve the problem.

    Hi Jaz70,

First of all, it would be interesting to know if another disc would work. Perhaps your CD/DVD drive doesn t work properly so she wouldn t read any type of disc.
    Check this box!

In addition, you can try to clean the disc or let's say the lens using a microfibre cloth. Sometimes it works

If you buy a Microsoft Windows disk it won't cost $500. ;)
These discs are not so expensive.

  • No hard drive not found when installing Windows 7

I have a HP Envy 4 - Ultrabook 1046tx and the operating system Windows 64-bit 8.1. While downgrading to Windows 7 64 bit I was unable to find the hard drives. In the installation screen it showed me "no hard drive found. Click on load a driver to provide a driver for installing mass storage.'.»

I downloaded all the versions (from most recent to oldest) technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers and I tried install one by one but they do not work and the hard drives are still not visible. But if I use a Windows 8 install disc and install the driver drives are visible.

I need my computer to display the default hard drives without the need for a SATA driver. How do I do that? My Intel chipset manufacturer and model is Ivy Bridge HM77.

Can someone help me solve the problem please?

    Thanks in advance!

I tried a lot of things these steps. But this has not worked for me. Might work for others. I'm sticking with Windows 8.1 for awhile and I will continue to find other ways. If I find the solution will immediately post the solution in this thread. Thanks to Paul_Tikkanen for helping me!

  • 2 operating systems: Windows 7 makes all folders and files on another partition (Windows XP) read-only! What now?

2 operating systems: Windows XP and Windows 7

Windows 7 is to make all the folders and files on another partition (Windows XP) read-only!

Once, I opened a file from "My Documents" from XP in Windows 7.

But when I Wen back to Windows XP.

But while starting up, I got a lot of error messages:

    Access denied!

When I am gone to Windows 7 yet once I noticed that all records on the other partition where unalterable.

  • What is the HP Digital Imaging Monitor? Apply to my operating system, Windows 7?

What is the HP Digital Imaging Monitor? Apply to my operating system, Windows 7? I want to remove the icon from the task bar (toolbar in the lower right corner of the screen) that I never use it.

Picardjc wrote that "Digital imaging monitor is part of the HP software that communicates with your HP printer. This program allows to read the inklevels, get an out of paper message, scan from the device to the computer and so on. It is not necessary, but it will restrict the use of printers if you delete. "Understood. But for my printer HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809a, what is the purpose of having the digital imaging monitor icon in the taskbar Windows7 sp1 of the Notification area (aka system tray)? My A809a is NOT an all-in-one that includes a scanner; It is simply a very good printer. When I start to print something, if you need ink or paper, that information is displayed on the screen of my computer. So I ask again: why is the icon of monitor digital imaging on the taskbar? I clicked on at the time of this icon (I not print anything, but as usual, the printer is turned on), and nothing happened. R.N. (Roger) Folsom _ P.S. below I'll post some other discussions (with links to their locations) of the digital imaging monitor, I discovered before finding this site on which I am writing. There are a variety of opinions on what makes the digital imaging monitor. HP Digital Imaging Monitor is for HP director system tray access. This is necessary if you want to use the buttons of all-in-one on a HP printer all in one to scan documents or transfer photos from a camera manually. Closing the icon monitor HP digital imaging in the Windows system tray can cause the HP all-in-one to lose part of its scanning features and not the connection error message. In this case, you can restore all functionality by restarting the computer or by starting the HP digital imaging monitor. [Edited] 03/08/2011 14:05 - edited? 03/08/2011 14:08 Yes, it is safe to remove. In my view, it is usually in the program group under start / all programs / startup. Simply navigate under the Start button, right-click on it and delete! If it is not there, then remove it from the registry: run regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and delete it from the list in the right pane. If she is not there, then try hkey_current_user\\software\\microsoft\\windows\\currentversion\\run it's better than using msconfig and uncheck it. In my opinion, msconfig must always be set to Normal startup. Your printer will always print without that annoying obstructive utility called Digital Imaging Monitor. Ciao!
