Not visible in vsphere vcenter, client of web host

Hello

I added a new host to the existing cluster. It is visible in vsphere client, but not in the web client of vsphere. Tried to add both customers and got the same result. Help, please.

I have reset the vCenter inventory database to solve the problem.

    Hello

Don't vSphere client (or client to vCenter earlier) invoke web services of vSphere internally to perform operations on the ESX Server?

    I'm new to VMware developemnt.

As I understand it, it's the client vSphere or vCenter is a management console. An actioan/operations such as create VMS or cloning images actually occur on the ESX servers or hosts. Web services are hosted on the ESX servers. When we perform an action via client vSphere/vCenter (e.g. create the VM), internally, it would be invoking appropriate API provided by the web service SDKto do you need.

    My understanding is correct?

If you connect to vCenter or ESX host (i) themselves by using the Client vSphere, the majority of applications using vSphere API... I say majority because I do not know there are undocumented more that VMware uses behind the scenes, but in general, it is true. If you perform an operation in vCenter and it applies to a host, vCenter will communicate this request to the host.

If you're new to QALY/SDK: you can spend the time to enter the section "Learning" of the developer forums, there is lots of useful information here: http://communities.vmware.com/community/developer/learn

Here's a great doc Getting Started with vSphere SDK - Update for SDK 4.1 release that has a lot of information/explanations on how it all works, you should spend time passing on it and then ask questions in the appropriate follow-up, if you need more detailed explanation.

  • Problems access to vm/vsphere vcenter client after you restart host ESXi 5.5

    Hello ya'll,

Looking at you all tips. I had a problem with a virtual machine that hung and could not turn it off. After several failed attempts to turn off the virtual machine via the cli of esxi, I decided to reboot the individual host (Server Blade Dell - 16 guests). Well, without realizing it, the server vcenter VM was this host and I have not put it off or move to another host. We have turned on but not sure if that moved to another host when I rebooted the host of vmotion.

The host came back to the top of normal, but now I can not access the VM from the vsphere or RDP client vcenter. We did not allow web client so not sure if I can access this way, even if it wasn't initially setup.

How can I get access to vcenter and the other 20 VM I created? Do I have to make changes via the CLI esxi?

    Any guidance would be appreciated!

If vSphere HA is enabled in your cluster, then the VM vCenter was lit in one of the other guests. I suspect that services not started correctly after that triggered a HA under tension. Suggest that you locate the vCenter VM by logging in to each host using the root account and once found, the vCenter VM console and check services.

It is a new HP ML350 server with 4 x 900 GB drives configured as a single raid 5 ldev. When I connect win7 via vmware vsphere client to add a data store, there is nothing to choose. Have I missed a step or something?

OK, problem solved. To solve another problem, Support HP had me use the switch on the motherboard to reset the configuration. After the reboot, I got a data store!

  • New host ESXi 5.1 in DMZ - cannot connect through vCenter Client or web, but can via SSH, if I have activated

We have a simple DMZ where I set up a host running ESXi 5.1. I have another windows server in the DMZ subnet and I can load the new ESXi her host's web site. From my PC in our LAN I can not pull the top web interface 5.1 ESXi or connect via vSphere Client. If I enable SSH on the new host, can I use Putty to connect to the new host ESXi from my PC in LAN. I watched the event logs in our firewall and nothing seems to be blocked. I guess that the problem is related to a value or a firewall setting in ESXi 5.1 but I don't know. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    -Kevin

Just a thought. Why don't run you the ESXi host in your internal network management and only virtual machines in the DMZ? Would make the ESXi host management even more secure, and you wouldn't have to open Firewall ports.

  • Error access to vSphere vCenter Client 4.0 using WIndows 7

    Hi all

I could not access vcenter using the vSphere 4.0 WIndows 7 client, the attached file is the error message I'm trying to access using Windows Active Directory (LDAP integrated) username and password as well as individually using root for each of the ESXi servers.

Does anyone know how to use vSphere Client 4 in WIndows 7?

    Thank you

I can connect to vCenter 5.5 by vSphere Client and use domain user and everything works fine

I cant't connection 5.5 by user of vSphere vCenter Client and use of root and the password. I have information on

"Cannot complete the connection because username or password incorect.

IM shure I use the right password for root.

    A suggestion?

    Screenshot_6.png

Ok. Thank you community vExpert and Lukasz of my team, we found easy reason perhaps, but not at the first glance for me

We had the installer by default "Source of identity" for Active Directory then when I used only root for connection I got the error with wrong password.

In this possible case is just to connect to vcenter using root@localos credintials.

But in addition we sam of similar mistakes inside the SSO connects:

  • How to accumulate vSphere 5.5 (or 5.1) of the Earth? (If you do not have a stand-alone client)

This can be a very basic question, but I wonder if these conditions have been met:

    1. you gave with bare metal resources (with complete listing of virtualization server hardware)

2 client/customer wants a 'all ' virtual environment (so including vcenter, secondary AD/DNS, database servers, etc.)

    3. primary DNS must be on a server (standalone) bare metal as shown.

Before vSphere 5.5/5.1, (my) would be to

    1. install a single ESXi host,.

2 install vmware client on a laptop Desk/computer

3 to connect to the first host

4 build virtual machines for AD/DNS secondary servers and the database server required (SQL for example) as VMs.

5 build vCenter server (and other requirements)

    6 build other esxi hosts

    7. Complete/Build of the cluster

    8. Migrate/move the primary VMS (vcenter, AD/DNS) to cluster (with technical details applied)

How it should be done in vSphere 5.5 (5.1)?

If you are using an older version (5.0 or 5.1) for 5.5 access is what you will see. Some want to make already installed 5.0 or 5.1 it will appear

This happens if you use your previously installed client. If you do not have any client installed in your environment with the new ESXi a 5.5 vsphere client will be given which can be used to access the server directly.

It is possible by going to https:// after installing an ESXi 5.5. You will find an option called download vsphere client 5.5 which will connect to the internet and download a client.

SSO is a module to be installed as part of your installation of vCenter. If you are installing vCenter using a simple installation, it will install SSO service inventory, vSphere client Web (access to vcenter via a web browser) and vCenter server.

After installing SSO and vcenter you can add your advertisement as a source of authentication to your vCenter.

This is not to be confused, but if you plan to go with vSphere 5.5 in most functions in vSphere client is disabled and you use Vsphere web customer to make the most of management activities.

  • Change the timeout of web vCenter client 5.

I saw this question listed several times in the VMware communities, but he never responded.

Is there a way to change the web client to vCenter session timeout 5?

Changing the session timeout value is not implemented in vSphere 5.0.As now, the default value is 30 min. may be that we will have this feature in the next version (vSphere 5.1)

  • not able to save or deploy the web client setup 5.5 plugin

    Hello

I am not able to save or deploy a web client plugin on 5.5 setup. Most confusing to me is this folder 'vsphere-client-serenity. I don't see any of this directory in the path of the directory of vmware. It's the path C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\vSphereWebClient.

This is the context of the extension.xml file:

    < extension >

    < description >

    < label > AB < / label >

What is this tag "type"? According to the documentation of the plugin deployment must have the value "vsphere-client-serenity. When I try to save this file extension using vsphere client to office (5.1) it registered successfully but in the State it is written "no download on the client side is necessary for this plug-in." All mentioned URL works properly.

I'm just a beginner in the present. I apologise for any basic mistakes/misunderstanding.

    Thank you.

now, everything seems to work. I had to modify the webclient.properties file in C:/programdata/vmware /...

Earlier I had recorded the plugin using 5.1 vsphere webclient. Now, I'm going to try writing a utility.

    Thank you.

  • Can I connect a workflow to the vSphere Client GUI (Web)

    Hello

I see that in workflows, you can do almost anything, but how can I get users 'normal' trigger / start the workflow? For our team to servicedesk (1st level) I wish I had some workflows that I want to connect to the vSphere GUI client. For example, a right-click on a virtual machine to create a snapshot that requires them to enter the name, days that should last the snapshot, email address and change the number.

    Gabrié

You must configure vCO to integrate into the web client of vSphere. Once done, you can run workflows from there.

If you use the vCO device, there is a document that I wrote in the documents tab.
