Satellite M50 - A - change settings on Elan Touchpad

My new Satellite M50 - A has a momentum Touchpad P2/2 m touchpad.the driver is 11.8.13.3

I am using 8.1 Windows 64 bit.

I want to disable the "hover to select" and "tap to click" function, I searched everywhere so I just hope that someone here can help because he drives me crazy.

Hello

Usually, you should be able to change all settings possible within the touchpad
Control Panel-> mouse-> tab momentum-> Options tab

Now new window would open to offering three different tabs: a finger, finger Multi, Additional

The 3rd extra tab offers the possibility of sensitivity as well as other options.
There you can change the sensitivity settings s touchpad.

  • Satellite M50-A-11 q - press finger touchpad 3 should start Chrome

The 3 finger on the touchpad momentum press had been set up to launch IE.
Now, I changed my browser favorite and reconfigured the touchpad to launch Chrome instead.

However, it start again IE, chrome.

Everything looks ok in the user interface for the touchpad of the momentum, but I can see that the registry entry that seems to fit - Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Elantech\Smart Pad\ClickPad_Three_Finger_Click_Path is still on C:\Program may Explorer\iexplore.exe.

Before you begin editing the registry, which is something I do as a last resort, does anyone have any other suggestions.

    Thank you, David

You can back up the registry before you modify and change some registry keys.
But I think that changing the path in the registry key should solve this problem.

    Hello

Trying to be helpful, I contacted Toshiba to let them know a link broken for the latest momentum 12.8.5.1 for Mini click touch pad driver. Obviously do not try to be so useful, I received an automated email from Toshiba telling me that I had to make this post on the forum instead. This does not me a nice warm feeling on customer support levels, but hey ho...

    The link is: http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-...0707101101.zip

The driver support page points you to this dead link. I can't find the file of the driver in question elsewhere on the web:

    tpdrv - 20150707101101.zip

    Ta

    Dave

Obviously something went wrong during the download...

But the ELAN touchpad driver doesn't depend on the model of laptop.
You can use the ELAN touchpad driver released for other series of laptop.

So in case this link does not work, choose driver MOMENTUM released for another series of laptop Toshiba.

  • Access to Boot to install Satellite M50-A-110 problem

    Hello

I just bought a Satellite M50-A-110 and wanted to install Win 7.

Problem is that I have difficulties to access the bios press F2, esc, or DELETE...

It worked (twice) if I could change boot USB (with a bootable USB key that I used on other computers to install win 7), still does not begin to earn 8...

So I formatted the hard drive to get rid of all the partitions and win 8.

Replaced the hard drive, insert the USB and now I have this message:

"Reboot and select proper boot device."
or Insert boot media in selected boot and press device any key..."

    So my questions are:

-Are known issues with the m50-a-110, in the start menu? and what is the key / key combination, that I push?
-This would be installing win 7 can only be achieved with a USB 3.0? (2 slots USB 3.0 and USB 2.0)

Thank you for your help in advance and good luck,

Hello and thanks for the comments. On a site I m happy to know that you have solved your problem, but on the other hand, it is not the best solution.

Have you really taken apart your laptop to access the CMOS battery? I mean, after this action, your warranty is no longer valid.

On this forum you can find numerous threads about the same question, where is explained what needs to be done about it and what steps are required to install Win7 on new models of laptops with preinstalled Win8 / Win8.1.

What needs to be done first is the full stop - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm
After doing this, it is possible to enter the BIOS settings and change the secure boot settings.

I just hope that you have created a recovery (DVD or USB) media until you have formatted your HARD drive.

In any case, good luck with your machine.

  • Satellite L350-277 - can I install driver touchpad of another model?

I just changed from a Satellite M70 and the touchpad performance is far superior. Is it possible to install the driver for the touchpad on the L350 M70? Anyone see any problem?

The Satellite L350 pilot leaves the pointer jumps all over the screen. Before say you 'change settings' - I - for about an hour.
The Satellite M70 driver has much more stability and more features - like every corner can have a function - copy / paste for example.

Every technophobe in the Toshiba got ideas, before I screw to the top of the main interface on my new L350.

    Hello

I can t imagine that jumping is caused due to the driver. Make sure that you do not touch the touchpad if you type something. Alternative, you can disable the touchpad due in writing if you press FN + F9.
    Check this box!

And before you install a driver from another laptop you need to test the latest driver for your laptop. Please first check from Toshiba Web site for an update of the L350 driver:

By the way: what OS is installed at present? Do you use a preinstalled OS from Toshiba?

  • Monitor dims on Satellite M50

Not long after that I turn on my laptop the backligts turn off them selfs, if I close the lid and open it some times they come back on for a random time (usually a pretty short amount)

The other day I had the same problem but some how I managed to the do stay on. My laptop is a Satellite M50-161, of suggestions, how to fix?

    Thank you

    Hello

This is probably a case of the amount of time you have set for the computer, before it goes off the screen (i.e. short time = 1 minute). As you have a Satellite M50, if you are running Windows XP can change these settings in Toshiba Power Saver, if you are running Windows Vista, then change the settings in the Power Options.

    This should help you.

  • Satellite M50-PSM53A has the constant fan noise

    Hi all

A year ago I upgraded my Satellite M50 (PSM53A) from Windows XP to Windows Vista Home Premium SP1. I also downloaded the BIOS update for Vista from my region (Australia) Web site so that the BIOS version is now 5.00. However, Toshiba has not last updated BIOS for this model since February 2007 and as a result that my fan is constantly making noise whenever I use the computer (and turn off at all).

The fan sometimes slows down depending on the load of computer work, but is not completely silent and on and blowing out it was Windows XP. In addition, the underside of my computer is not hot as it was on Windows XP, instead the breath fan and no heat is felt on the underside of the laptop. I also changed the settings in the Toshiba Power Saver under power options in Windows Vista, and this does not seem to make a difference in noise levels.

I was wondering if someone could help me with this problem and if anyone knows a BIOS update or if Toshiba will provide a? Because, in all the teething problems, that I had in the upgrade to Vista, it is the only question that I left to correct.

    Kind regards
    -Adrian.

    Hello Adrian

Either a little more realistic and objective s. You have a designed for Windows XP Home edition laptop and now you use the new operating system. I recommend getting some info on Vista and the first interesting info is that Vista uses more resources than the old Windows XP Home edition. More resources mean more pressure on the CPU and other hardware components. The result of higher performance is more heat.

To protect the equipment sensors send information on fan/fans to run and cool the material. So, for me, it's the logical result after installation of Vista. I don't understand why you need this BIOS update should fix this.

BIOS update is designed to install Vista and use of different Toshiba has also designed tools and utilities. I assume that the physical protection is high priority and why to change the values of the fans for Toshiba and may damage the material.

Anyway, if you have installed all try them Toshiba tools use different power plan. For example, use the balanced power plan and define the method to the minimum level of cooling.

On my laptop preinstalled Vista he reduced the activity of fan cooling but the performance is still good and I can work without any problems.

    Good bye

  • Satellite M50 - bad signs using the keyboard

    Help, please

I have a purchased Satellite M50 year last by a parent in Australia working for Toshiba.
Day 1 the key functions have been unpredictable, but I've learned to live with the problem.
For example hitting @ (case 2) product key "and vice versa (upper case") produces @"
Pressing Shift and 3 product £

    # is a product of the slash key reverse. Press the backslash key and product update ~
Now, I have discovered that no combination of keys produces a backslash and this presented a problem with some software mods, that I wanted to achieve.

Here is the keyboard language settings simply false.
I guess your laptop keyboard settings are set to English of the United States or the United Kingdom, you will have to change.

Go to control panel-> regional & -> language tab, the language-> details-> settings tab options

Here you can change the language of the keyboard in English (Australia, New Zealand, etc...)

Could recommend check several languages until the right singing will appear.

Best regards and happy new year

  • Satellite M50 does not start, go back to the screen with different start modes

My Satellite M50-130 does not start correctly. When you turn it on, it goes to a black DOS screen, saying: "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this. "It offers me different start modes: Safe Mode, with networking and command prompt. Last good Configuration known; and start Windows normally.

I tried all the 5 options, gets the commissioning insofar as the Toshiba screen, but then with all the options, it returns to the initial screen offering the 5 modes of starting. Same thing happens when laptop works again.

The only recent software change, I've done was an update to Norton AntiVirus/Internet Security and I suspect that Norton is at least part of my problem, see history below. I know it's the Toshiba support site, but I tried Norton so many times without success, I gave up. Plus, I'm no expert at all, so I can't be sure that it is really the source of all my sorrows. All advice welcome!

The performance of my laptop has deteriorated seriously in the last two months. She is extremely slow, and cleaning of malware and unwanted General does not help. It began right after that I renewed the license of Norton last year and upgraded to the 2007 version. The worst downturns are always connected to direct upcoming Norton upgrade programs. I disabled the live upgrade, but programs always come to the top, and I can't stop them, a popup tells me that they are protected.

Wireless internet is also very capricious, even if another computer on the same network works fine.
During the last week, I had to relax a little internet security settings (from "moderate to severe" to "low to medium") because after an other update of Norton AntiVirus, I couldn't access to interactive Web sites.
It is perhaps a coincidence because Norton AntiVirus comes with updates at least twice a week - but what else could be the problem?

My apologies for the long rant, I am grateful for all the advice!
    Thank you
    I have.

    Hello

I think the only way to make your system works correctly again is to restore with the cdrom of onboard catering. Simply manage to save your data from your hard drive (the best way would be to put your machine's HARD drive in a USB - HDD enclosure and copy important data on another computer), then wipe the system completely off you hdd.

After that, the system must run again...

    Welcome them
