nothing works under my user account

Dear Microsoft Answers

I have a laptop Windows Vista Home Basic, I had last year, and it works fine. and then 2 weeks ago all the small problems begin to surface. and for the past 2 weeks, I tried to understand what was wrong with my computer. First, not 'IE, Google Chrome, Firefox' internet browsers allow radio stream; Secondly, I have been unable to sign in MSN Messenger, it keep giving me the error code 80070005. Thirdly, my Adobe Acrobat gives me error messeges that tells me the program must close; and fourth, everytime I open Internet Explorer, it ask me to put a default search engine... be frustrated by all the error messages, I contacted Windows Live Help Center and the assistance of the radio station, they could not understand what the problem was, so finally they sugguested connect Vista with a different user account so I tried with the guest account and everything works fine. but when I connect my personal user account, all the problems are back. I guess that means that my user account creates all the problems, I'm the only one using the computer, and my personal user account is also the administrator. can you help me to find the problem and I hope that to correct them?

Thank you very much

icebb

Your administrator user profile can are damaged.  To fix this use http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows-vista/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile.  If that is the only available Administrator Profile (you need to be an administrator to fix this), enable the Hidden Administrator Account (HAA) using http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?&lang=en&cr=US&guid=&sloc=en-us&dg=microsoft.public.windows.vista.administration_accounts_passwords&p=1&tid=d20f9db4-7b2c-48be-a087-7835dc2a9055&mid=d20f9db4-7b2c-48be-a087-7835dc2a9055.  If you don't remember the password, try nothing because that's probably what you (or seller) did during the installation.  In addition to the replacement of an administrator account, you must create a second administrator account (in case of emergency like this one) and a standard user account for your daily activities (for security reasons).  Once that is done, don't forget to disable the HAA to save it in case it is necessary once again and for safety reasons (since people often try to hack into systems using this account).  Do NOT use the HAA as your administrator account because if you lose the only administrator on the system account or it is damaged again, then you're watered.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

For security reasons, I use a standard windows instead of one admin user account.

  • Address bar works on a user account and not on the other

    Hello

I searched on through so many forums to find an answer to my problem - it is perhaps quite unique.

A year ago, stopped my firefox address bar AutoComplete works not at all. I have the latest version and I tried all the stuff around dumping cache etc. Anyway, I got a new Mac yesterday and I opened Firefox and everything worked as it should - great.

However, I moved all my files/settings/applications etc in front of my ole mac via migration assistant and now firefox is not working properly on this user account. So, I have two user accounts on the same mac, both running the same software applications. The user account with all the old files etc is that I want to continue to use, but Firefox will not properly work on this subject.

I uninstalled and reinstalled, updated, deleted version cache... all I can think.

I'm sick of Chrome crashing on me.

    Can anyone help?

  • Troubleshooting slow running under a user account from Win7 machine and normally with the other user accounts on same (or other) third-party app

Hoping that this is not too off-topic, but I'm really running out of ideas...

I have this trading program full license (TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer 4.2) who has worked on my Win7/64 for several months, and in recent weeks, has become excruciatingly slow for every user interaction (but not for real computing), making it essentially unusable (1'30 to launch vs 3 normally, 30 "seconds waiting to launch a 'new project' vs.)<1s normally,="">

When 'pending' launch application or respond to a command, 12% of the full CPU (8 logical cores on CPU Core i7 third Gen) is used by a single process: the offending application (look at the Task Manager, 1 logical core is used to +/-80%, a second for about 15% of this process). All other processes are still at 0% CPU usage.

Of course, I tried & tested many things including full-/ re-installation of the application with a careful cleaning etc., corresponding registry entries software disabling AV (Avira free), .net Framework Repair Tool, etc... no change! The disc has been checked and is OK.

    Some interesting tips:

This app worked fine for several months before the problem started abruptly a few weeks; I tried to uninstall .net Framework 4.5 updates to a date prior to the date of beginning of apparent problem, does not; I came back to an earlier version of the offending software: no change.

But the most interesting observation is that the app works well at the launch of any other user account on the same machine Win7/64 (whether with the normal credentials or admin), so for me that means there should be no conflict of software on the computer, only something in my profile of the main user who causes the app behave so slowly.

At this point, the Helpdesk of the seller looks distraught - too.

    Suggestions for troubleshooting?

BTW: I consider that this computer is well managed, and no rogue or untrusted app sleeps there. my main profile is fairly heavily customized for my work, so I want to avoid workaround last resort would be to create a new user account as work environment main (besides the fact that I hate not to find the root cause of the problem)

    Hello

Given that this problem is specific to the user's profile. I suspect that some programs that are installed or some settings in the profile translates into this problem. You can fix a corrupted user profile by following the steps in this article:

  • Work with multiple user accounts on the same folio/article

    Hello

    I have the following problem:

-L' user is the owner of the folio (which publsihes it), the folio is shared with the user B and C

-L' user B is the graphic designer. He does the work

-Used C should make corrections textutal

    Problem:

-User C cannot access items user B has created

Question: What is the right solution for this kind of problem? Two (or more) people should be able to work on an article with their personal account. The only solution I see right now is to create a "designer-"specific account by project folio who share all these people.

    Are there other options

    see you soon

    Thomas

A shared sheet cannot be changed or altered by another user except the owner who created it. This is why your username B and C could not connect with their ID to make changes to the folio created by user A, only user A may make recorded changes with his ID.

Therefore, if several people to work on the same folio, the solution is to

    1. Share the connection to user A user B & C information

    OR

    1. Or is user B or C create a folio and share credentials with each other OR create a default account for all designers and share credentials among designers
    2. Once completed, folio share the same folio with user a.
    3. User A then create a new folio and copy the contents of the folio shared in the new folio that he create
    4. What user has then publishes the folio because he only has the right to publish
  • Which is better to have several user accounts from window for the same person, so having much Firefoxes or have much Firefoxes under a Windows account user?

Right now I have about 6 window user accounts (just for me on a single computer) because I didn't know I could put more Firefox then one per account. I leave the tabs upward when I close Firefox, because if I just bookmarks I won't finish my work I was doing with these sites. Now that I know how to put multiple Firefoxes under a user account. That would make my computer fast or not, it matter if I put all my Firefoxes on a window user account or have 6 windows user accounts, each with their own Firefox?
    -Thank you

It is more work to move to a different Windows account and then open another instance of Firefox with a different profile.
If you only use other windows accounts for the use of Firefox like this and not for any other purpose, then there is nothing against the passage to a single Windows account to make it easier to manage such things as the backup of your personal data or copy data between the other profiles.

So, it's up to you if you want to switch to a single Windows account.

  • Need to change the name of the administrator under the folder of the user account

I just got a new HP laptop with Windows Vista 64 SP1. My friend who got the laptop I use a nickname that I hate it when he set up the computer for which it was not supposed to do in the first place. I went to the section control panel user accounts control and changed the name of the administrator account. I have only the administrator account on my computer with the guest account. That part worked.

My problem is that, under C:/Users / (username), it still shows that hated nickname. I want to change the name of this folder, but cannot understand how or if it's possible. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance

As you have discovered, you cannot change a user account by simply changing the name. That will be a change cosmetic only and none of the files/folders real profile will be changed. Follow the instructions below to fix things to your liking and to implement correctly under Vista user accounts.

    1. create the new user account (named as desired) as a * standard * (not administrator) account and at least one additional account with administrative privileges. Call the extra account 'CompAdmin', 'Tech' or similar.

    2. Enter the new user account once if the profile files are created, and then disconnect and then connect to CompAdmin.

    3. go in Control Panel > system > advanced > user profile > settings

    4. you will see where you can copy user accounts. Copy the misnamed old account to the new name correctly there. Use her browse to select your new account (C:\Users\newaccount). If you don't want to copy all the settings, and then instead simply navigate using the old user, music Explorer Windows Documents, etc. and copy the data to the new user folders.

    5. connect to your new correctly named user account. When you are sure to have what you need, you can delete the misnamed control panel user account > accounts to users if you wish.

General information about configuring users in Vista:

You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all the other modern operating systems, Vista is an OS multi-user with system built-in accounts such as administrator, by default, all users and guest. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

In particular, you do not want one account user with administrative privileges on Vista because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult. It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but it will take third-party tools and work outside the operating system.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. If your normal user account is an administrator, having created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

  • user accounts suddenly denied access to games standard

OS is Vista Home Premium. I created two centuries ago user accounts. I am the administrator and have no problem. My husband is defined in Standard and until Friday 4th has been able to play an installed game he plays online. Suddenly, he is unable to play because he gets the message:
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. May not permissions to access you the item.
Also, the icon of the shortcut to the game and read icon via start it > programs method changed to the type of icon where see you installed updates to windows. a rectangle with a small green square. Please note that nothing seen via my user account.
If you set my husband to user account to be an administrator, or if you try to run the game "as an administrator", you still get the same message as above.
If you view the permissions for the game that he has "full control". View permissions for the game through my user account says 'Special permissions' and I can easily play the game.
I would like to know what has happened to cause this and also how to fix it.
    Thank you very much

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.
In response, I created a new standard user account and had the same problem on all standard user accounts. Then removed them.

The problem occurred after a recent update of Windows, that somehow changed the permissions on some downloaded files. The UAC was responsible in some way. I guess I could undo each in turn to find out who we caused the problem, but decided to do so only if no other method could be found.

You can easily see which applications have been affected because the Apps icon has been changed into an icon of the window - a rectangle with a small green square in it.

In my case, my husband took ownership of a game and a control total seen on the Admin account, but it was ignored. If you are looking for the game in the list of the found program via the Start button and right click on the game and select Properties... this method does not work... or can run you as admin.

However, I decided to try the following and have had a result.

    • I opened his account (note that whenever you are prompted to enter the Admin password to continue).
    • I clicked on the "Start" button and find the game in question under the "Programs" list
    • I then click right on this game and selected for "open file location".
    • Then, I selected the Application file (exe), right click and select "Properties".
    • Then choose the security"" tab.
    • My Admin user was in the list, but my husband's name was not if I chose to 'Edit' then 'Add' his name and user account.
    • Applied and could I stand it and the icon for the game immediately changed to show the correct and original icon with a windows shield attached.
    • I then click on the game again and selected to create a shortcut that I placed on the desktop.

The game now runs from his account.
    Solved :)

  • Shockwave Flash from Adobe 10.2.152.32 only plays in a 'user account '.

Shockwave Flash from Adobe 10.2.152.32 will not play anything embedded using * my * user account in WinXP SP3 (e.g.: items on HuffPost/no Hulu/no streaming radio station broadcasts listen functions, for example, 'radioplayer' and ' mediaplayer "in these windows addies/ sites not Vimeo (e.g.: someone streaming views of a backyard bird nest).") YouTube is not a problem at all.
    Firefox 3.6.14. 32-bit operating system
Flash stopped working on my 'user account' XP when I put to day Flash 8 March 2011 two days ago AND then update to IE 8 (6) (that we do not use) and also of SP3 for Windows XP (SP2)(not Pro). All Microsoft update takes about an hour, maybe longer.
Disabling hardware acceleration had no effect.

Uninstalled and reinstalled the software Adobe Flash Player from the Adobe site.
Adobe plays everything on the user account of the DH, but nothing plays on my 'side '.
I have Administrator status and all that.
Check many FFsettings allowing pop up windows, average internet zone security, javascript, etc.
NoScript to allow everything or just the strictly necessary, to try to diagnose this prob, when on a Web page.
Shockwave Flash in modules is "activated" spout that I noticed yesterday that it was somehow invalid.
Stop down and restarted three times while he allow sufficient time to do as well.

MS Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin 1.0.0.8 in my Add-ons, also.
"HTML5 Extension for Windows Media Player plugin 1.0 ' in my modules.
    AVG Antivirus Free Edition 2011.
With the help of Sandboxie. However, I use Firefox without the sandbox and do reboots (and I do attention save when closing sandbox stuff, etc.) when adding.
Disabled Windows Firewall at a point just trying to get/streaming video to play after all my update has led to this problem.
Curious to know why the plugin says "Shockwave Flash 10.2.152.32 with this little 10.2r152 under" but the version # I installed refers to * Flash Player * shock... blah, blah 10.2.152.32 when I got it - is this just quirks of terminology or different things?
Thank you for your time; I read a lot of posts to see to it there in as my prob, could not find a.

Hi, if you have XP/SP3 and using IE8 and FF. I would not be updated for FF 3.6.15 yet since this can complicated additional questions.

However, the upgrade from IE6 to IE8 and install SP3 are the two major updates. One of those who could have caused the glitch in Flash Player, because it works in browsers. So it makes sense that you should have to install FP even in IE8.

Go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash Open Flash and after return the files listed here. NPSWF files must be opened with a right-click, and then click Properties to get the version numbers.

Using IE, go to tools, manage Addons and under "Show"(very light text) is Shockwave Flash Object installed, active and this is the version 10.2.152.32? "»

FF, navigate to the plugins and is the active Shockwave Flash plugin?

The Shockwave Flash object and the Shockwave Flash plugin are the controls for Flash Player.

Let us make sure that we have Flash Player and the required browser addons installed correctly before addressing other issues.

    Thank you
