I just got a new update on my 7.1? I don't know what number. I have actuellement.580, so it takes a lot more? Someone of you think it is safe to make the OTA VS using Office mgr?

I always recommend strongly AGAINST ever do an OTA update. The OTA update takes a device backup of your data, which it restores after the full update. But if something is wrong during the process, the backup is lost forever. He said once you update, unless you have made a backup on the computer or have a memory card and saved individually for every single photo and video on what then everythings gone.

    I said I just moved last week and a half and have not been able to download my stuff to the computer and don't know where my cord is, besides I said since when do I need to download everything and worry about losing things due to an update. I update my computer all the time and do not lose photos and others.

    He said to update your BlackBerry is like defragment your computer, you will lose information. Well, I guess ignorance is a blessing because I defragment often and have never lost a file. (I know in all cases)

    Anyway that I felt that he put the nail in my coffin, he don't mind not connect me to a 'specialist blackberry' waisting their time when I don't have back up before an update.     And I can tell you this much, as I fear, the new update can puke!

If your phone works well, you can install if necessary when you have the time, a good backup and read about it here.     Hi guys. so I've updated my software on my bb curve 8520... Well the bb desktop software had asked me to do the experience works best with my phone. but it turns out to be the opposite. I can not call more I get this message when I try to call someone "can't call the current call" or if I managed to call I can't hang up unless the caller hangs up. my memory card is not working, or more, music and videos say 'impossible to read the content' but I can see all my photos. I can not view my airtime balance or update my bis. I tried to connect my memory card on my pc and it works fine when connected but as soon as I disconnect plays anything from my phone. I rebooted a million times. formatted the entire phone but nothing works! my alarm does not sound and sometimes when someone me the your text does not ring SMS. the update is performed from a 107... something to an update from 1788. I can do to fix all these technical stuff... im convinced this isn't the physical phone that is damaged. your help will be very appreciated. thanx

    Given what you describe, I think that is better to a clean OS reload. The easiest way is, on a PC (you can not do on MAC):

    (1) make sure that you have a current backup and your BB complete... you can find the instructions at the link in my auto-sig below.

    2) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,

    (3) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

    (4) download and install on your computer, the BB OS package you want:

    • http://us.BlackBerry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    • If all you want are the levels of BONE, it is first sorted by carrier - the carrier supports, your search will be fast. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To really get the package up-to-date OS for your BB, you need to dig through and find all businesses that support your specific model BB and then compare the BONE levels they support.

    5) remove all copies of the SELLER on your PC. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

    6 (a) to change your level of BB OS installed (at level or lower), you can run the Desktop software and connect your BB... the software should offer the operating system package you have installed on your PC.

    6 (b) or, for recharging your BB OS level installed as well to change, work around the Desktop software and use the CHARGER. EXE directly, through step 2 in this process:

    If, during the process of 6a or 6 b, your BB has an error '507', simply unplug the USB of the BB cord and reinsert it. do nothing else... This should allow the installation to continue.

    Brand-new Blackberry.

    Updated the OS on my 8530 using the Desktop Manager software version 5.0.1 pc and the usb to the phone connector. I started at 11:00 this morning. It's now almost 15:00.

    It always shows 346 528 modules in the device software download part of the process. At this point, it's a failure... But he said not to disconnect your device... or other.  What now? Very disappointing.

    I tried the update site as you said but made the mistake of direct download instead of dl to pc and then to the phone as you said. Then... Well, I found the best way yet: I'll take it to the Verizon store and ask them to do every time. I'm a pretty grumpy guy, being a programmer and all except... I just haven't the patience or willingness to spend that kind of time with a phone. I mean - it's a phone. Really?

    You will need to perform an erasure of security on the device first before you can connect with a new BlackBerry ID credentials Please see: How to delete all data and applications from the smart phone BlackBerry with the optio security wipe...

    Don't forget to make a backup because it will erase all your data. Good luck!

    Yes it is possible to transfer all of your data, such as emails, contacts, applications, etc.

    Everything you have to do is connect your old device during execution (bb desktop software) and then click the (peripheral) found in the upper left corner of the application and then click on change of terminal and follow the instructions.

    Assuming that you bought your applications via App World, when you receive your new BlackBerry, you can just redownload the App World as long as you use the same ID BlackBerry to connect. Download again them, go to My World and then edit the list of applications to uninstalled. You will find then all your previously purchased/installed apps, available for redownload. If you bought them through a different service, like Mobihand, you will need to submit a request to change the PIN code, but once you do this, you can re-download them as well.

    In addition, if you do not already made, make sure that you make your BlackBerry as lost/stolen Bell so that they can cancel the service, etc. from your old device.

    I have no unread messages, but there are two icons of mail on the screen. One leans to the right with a red 'x' in the upper right.  The other seems normal and the number goes down I read a message.  I deleted all my messages, but said leaning box 7 and the normal box says 1.

    If maisl isn't here as stated above then you must erase your SMS database.

    To clear the TEXT completely check following the steps:

    1. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer.
    2. Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
    3. Double-click on the backup and restore, and then click Advanced.
    4. In the list of device databases, select the appropriate database.  For your problem, select SMS.
    5. Click clear.
    6. In the warning window, click OK.

    Don't forget to have if you erase your SMS as mentioned above, then all Messages will be lost and cannot be extracted unless you have a backup.

    so I put my sim in and I tihnk im connected to my network (orange) I have 4 bars of signal.

    but I turned wireless off on my apps and it gets rid of the network connection. is this normal?

    If possible, do not look at or try to update your BlackBerry Bold 9700 to any higher OS like OS6, 5 operating system will offer a response good camera and will experience no problems as a memory device to trolling or freezing. You can search this forum and you will find that most user who has installed the OS6 on there Bold 9700 finally must downgrade to OS5 because Bold 9700 don't have enough memory
