  • All requests to vCAC COFFEE host failed: 401 Unauthorized

    Hi all

    I installed the plugin vCAC 6.0.1 on vCO 5.5.2 and several hosts COFFEE vCAC (for different tenants) has added to the inventory.

    But all my attempts to make any request vCAC COFFEE host failed with the error: 401 Unauthorized.

    For example, if I run the workflow example "Library/vCloud Automation Center/samples/list catalog items" I the following error in the log of vCO:

    [03:42:36.616 2015-01-22] [I] host: DynamicWrapper (Instance): [vCACCAFEHost]-[class com.vmware.o11n.plugin.vcac.model.VCACHost] - VALUE: vcac6 [https://vcac6.hfr.mydev.com/] [vsphere.local]

    (Complete the log as an attachment)

    In addition, all the vCO for guests COFFEE vCAC inventory records are empty:

    vCAC CAFE inventory.png

    If we consider the logs on vCO configuration server the root of this problem is the same:

    2015-01-22 04:09:20.368 - 0800 [http-bio-0.0.0.0-8281-exec-17] WARN {} [RestTemplateIpv6] GET request for " " https://vcac6.HFR.MyDev.com/Component-Registry/Endpoints/types/com.VMware.CSP.Core.Designer.service.API/default " " gave rise to 401 (unauthorized), invoking the error handler "

    Could someone advise me what could be the root of this problem and how it can be solved?

    Thanks in advance!

    Note:

    What is interesting to note that the IaaS service works very well at the same time: API call correct works of the workflow of vCO, the inventory of the IaaS instance node contains all the appropriate objects.

    My enviromnet is:

    vCAC: 6.0

    vCenter Orchestrator: 5.5.2

    vCenter Orchestrator vCAC plugin: 6.0.1

    I checked the configuration:

    vCAC 6.0 + vCO 5.5.1 + plugin vCAC 6.0.1

    and everything works well here.

    It was definitely the problem of version mismatch.

    vCAC 6.0.1 plugin can operate only with vCO 5.5.1 or embedded vCAC vCO 6.0.

    It is not compatible with the vCO 5.5.0 or vCO 5.5.2.

  • HA agent on this host failed isolaion address...

    I'm confused on my test environment, I get this error "HA agent on this host unable isolaion address...". "that means excatly?

    guests can not ping the address of the gateway, but they can talk to each other... so what's going to happen in any situation of failure? HA will not work? or what?

    If the host fails HA will restart any virtual machine is defined by you in the parameters of HA. So no problem with HA, it does not work. However, in your case HA will trigger the setting that you have defined in the host isolation response (default is leave vms power on).  To avoid this error create a secondary administrative network where the army can communicate. That will not host isolation response trigger. It will be useful.

    Thank you

  • HA not to leave VMs host failed on host 4i available

    I have two ESX4i host in a single cluster with HA activated in my lab environment.  Did not receive any errors that the HA agent on one of the host, but HA's not leaving my host failed on the available host virtual machines.  Each machine is configured with 2 physical network cards so I a vswitch (0) with two network cards assigned as active.  My vswitch has the management network with active management traffic, VMkernel (Vmotion enabled) and the network of the VM.  The two systems are configured the same.  I understand that this may not be the recommended configuration, but it is a laboratory.  I saw this configuration works with HA in other environments.  VMotion works but not HA.

    Looking for suggestions on how to resolve this issue and to operate HA.  Thank you.

  • (3) maximum number of hosts allowed for this edition of vCenter Server has been reached.

    The following error message appears in my events of vCenter server every minute or so:

    "(3) maximum number of hosts allowed for this edition of vCenter Server has been reached.

    I have a license of vCenter Server Foundation (4.0) with three hosts. I am aware that this license only supports three hosts. Why vCenter should log an error every minute to tell me that? Can I have it also ignored it clutter visually the events list?

    And to meet me once again, VMware has just contacted me and he was recorded as a bug and will be fixed in update 1 when coming out.

  • Clean up the host fails

    Recently updated to 5.5 Update 2. Manager Update to upgrade now, when you try to patch the hosts it fails with the error:

    "VMware vsphere Update Manager there was an unknown error. Check the logs for details and events. »

    This happens more or less immediately after clicking on restore. I don't seem to be able to find any newspaper linked to it, or there at - it something useful in the events tab.

    Any ideas?

    Fixed it by cleaning installation of Update Manager, you re-create the database with a new and then reinstalling.

    Everything works now, think that the DB got a bit corrupted or something happened to what it worked fine on the first host.

  • ESXi 5.5u1 - serial number physical host in virtual machine

    I was happy to see in 5.5 update 1 release notes that it should be possible to switch the serial number of the host through a virtual machine hardware.

    • Allow virtual machines to display the serial number of the physical host
      Virtual machines cannot reflect the physical hosts ESXi serial numbers.
      • This issue is fixed in this version.

    Does anyone know how to enable this for a new or existing virtual computer?

    I had problems in the past with Apple Push Notification Services expects a Mac serial number. I hope that I can now spend series a Mac Pro to the host through a virtual machine.

    Someone at - it experience or knowledge to implement this? Thank you!

    Hi DJLambertand welcome to the VMware communities!

    If you want a prompt of OS X to use the serial number of the host, you will need to add this option to the virtual machine configuration:

    serialNumber.reflectHost = 'TRUE '.

    or, if you want a prompt of OS X to use the model of host hardware ID (learn "MacPro5, 1"), ID (i.e. "Mac-12345678" ") and the serial number all all aboard:

    smbios.reflectHost = 'TRUE '.

    will take care of all three.  Note that there is no way to understand or control what happens if you have multiple virtual machines with the same serial number and using this external serial number as an identifier.

    Let us know if you have problems with these options!  I'm not sure whether they will solve the problem you face, but... For example, there are more problems iMessage running in a virtual machine...

    See you soon,.

  • Maximum number of hosts mapped to a single LUN ESX

    I have a TB 1.9 LUN presented to an IBM SVC to several groups of ESX/ESXi include versions 3.5 (ESX), 4.1 (ESXi) and 5.0 (ESXi).  I read 3.5 has a host LUN '' recommended '' limit 32.

    I'm looking for more details on this issue.  This applies only the number of 3.5 hosts who can see the data store or all combined ESX hosts.  And why is it recommended to vs a strict limit?  We are trying to implement a logic unit number mapped to ESX host clusters as possible in order to support a mass migration to a new environment.

    I'm pretty new to VMWare world so please excuse me if I'm not clear on what I ask, or do not include any other relevant information.

    I don't think it's a contradiction at all.

    It is said that a given host can have up to 256 LUNS.  A volume given (VMFS) are accessible by up to 64 hosts.

    They are 2 completely different scenarios.

  • Duda sober number of hosted VMs in BBDD SQL server 2008 y

    Buenas a todos.

    In una semana voy a tener as instalar an entorno virtual muy sencillo. Back hosts y unas 60 mV. ES an entorno in Quebec, in a principio, no UN gran growth will. Maria than las lleguemos 100 vms system. Al studying the VMWare documents tener sober BBDD en SQL server 2008 me ha surgido una duda.

    Dice lo siguiente: 'instance of SQL Server 2008 Express (for small deployments). This database is suitable for small deployments of virtual hosts up to 5 and 50 machines. ».  ¿Quiere say that con esta BBDD solo puedo tener a maximum of 50 vm? ¿Mediante refiere a host that I can 50 vms por? En altogether 250 VMS y 5 host.

    In caso of Quebec no sirviera para said entorno, ¿tendria than instalar Oracle? What options I have?

    He read the red as you can bajarte UN linux por también con el vcenter y bbdd preinstalado, ahorrandote asi are her license of ese Windows. ¿Alguien sabe algo este tema? ¿Merece la Peña?

    MUCHAS gracias a todos photos.

    Saludo.

    Hello that tal,

    In general las versiones Express in SQL Server, asi como el motor BD incluido in el sober vCenter device Linux estan pensados para entornos muy pequeños do tests, no muy websites being o para entornos productivos.

    Las reduced no tanto en baso son Máquinas office number (50MVs to refiere total al, para aclararte), sino limitadas in politics are there performance.  Nations United SQL Express, para el maquinas office that claims tener, en unos meses there will number.

    You opcion're instalar o UN Standard SQL Oracle.

    Además, y como a tema aside, I think pensar solo 2 hosts para 60MVs no better decision por temas desempeño, availability y escalabilidad.  Mucho menos pensar in 100MVs.  Esto igual como factores depende that type of services need las maquinas office, pero in general, I think tener solo 2 servidores no are the best decision.

  • VMWare Workstation 7.1.2 64 - bit Windows host failed cloning

    I've tried (and failed) three times to create a clone of 90 GB 64 - bit Ubuntu guest VM on the host computer and two different external USB HDs.   It fails at around the same 3/4 point, with the file .cl1 (?) a little over 30GB, with the message "vmware cloning failed: the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error."  There is plenty of space on the target disk.  The guest computer is turned off.

    I did used a few hours of research and am surprised that such a relatively simple problem is not a part of traffic, which brings me to think/hope that it is a question very - simple, which miss me.

    Thank you in advance,

    John Leibacher

    Unless you make a clone from a snapshot (a clone full or independent?), why not just copy the VM guest where you need to go, and then open the virtual machine, change the name etc... and to answer "I copied it" when you start in its new location?

  • Ping IP of ESXi host fails after reboot? Newbie

    VMWare ESXi 4.0.0 ReleaseBuild 171294 - HP ProLiant DL360 G4

    The server turned craps so we got a used that even make and model and shared disks.  Now we cannot connect with the customer and we cannot ping, ping times out.  When we ping from the console we get inconsistent results, can ping ok, the first IP addy and then fails on the second ping, or it connects to the second IP addy, but fails to ping first that it resolve the hostname constantly.  We stopped and started the management network and Management Agents a couple of times but no joy.

    I have the Articles KB 1008446 ping to the ESXi host IP fails after reboot, 1003490 restart the Management Agents on an ESX or ESXi Server and 1003677 Tech Support Mode of emergency support.

    What must we do to recover the server to an operational state? If there is other information needed to help us please let me know.

    And, what distro and version is ESXi 4.0.0 inspires?  I read that it is Redhat, but I couldn't find the version.

    I have worked with Soloris, Linux and Aix over the years, so I am comfortable working from the cmd line if need be.

    Thank you

    ESXi is not Linux. The VMkernel is VMware. The small console that runs the VMkernel is busybox. ESX has a VM management based on RedHat 5, but here again the VMkernel is all VMware.

    I would check that the embedded NICs are working properly. Start with a linux rescue disk and test.

    If all extracted would reset the system configuration from the yellow Console screen. Your configuration will be lost, but your machines virtual etc. will be OK. You will need to add to the inventory.

  • HA error "an error has occurred while setting up the HA Agent on the host" & "Failed to find host name" on the ESX host

    I had to reload of the two ESX 3.0.2 Server I have here.

    Now the I get a HA error "an error has occurred while setting up the HA Agent on the host" when try to reconfigure HA.

    I note also that the same host if console type 'hostname - a' I get "Failed to find host name"

    I still seem to migrate virtual machines, but clearly something is wrong somewhere, there DNS config file I can check, I already check ed the hosts file and I can ping everything using long DNS name and short host name.

    Or maybe there is dns service can I restart?

    Thank you

    If you are running ESX 3.0.x check/etc/FT_HOSTS

  • Number of hosts per LUN

    Hello world

    I've never really thought about it until I started going through some of the design books that are out there.

    This is all based on what I read in here.

    It is recommended to stick to a dozen or so hosts per cluster and you should connect to not more than 8 guests in a single LUN.

    If I follow this guideline, which is good practices about which 8 hosts, I decide to connect to a given LUN?

    What the DRS/HA in a cluster like this? DRS and HA is smart enough to understand that some a host does not have access to a certain LUN

    and choose another host, or would it fail?

    This question has a meaning?

    See you soon

    Hello

    The clarion should have no problem, but the MSA2000 may have some. I didn't a lot of research on this subject. The easiest way would be to add hosts to LUN until the SCSI reservation conflicts arise... This will give the upper limit.

    Best regards

  • Number of hosts per rule Script

    Hello

    By following http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/performance-monitoring/foglight-administrators/f/4788/t/19550391, we have a good wee script that returns the names of all the enabled rules that the scope is a certain crowd against.  The original script on this page has been changed, here's the actual script that we use:

    Don't forget to change the hostname down!

    //

    Initialize

    //

    def rs = server ["RuleService"]

    def QS = server ["QueryService"]

    def rules = rs.getAllRules)

    def hosts = new TreeMap()

    Browse all rules

    //

    (rule of rules)

    {

    This will not work for the rules without a scope query, so

    Let's ignore them!

    //

    def query = rule.getScopingQuery)

    isRunning def = rule.isRunning)

    If (request == null | query == "" |! isRunning)

    continue

    Kickoff of the scope query and see what we get.

    Browse all topology objects

    and collect the monitored hosts.

    //

    def objs = qs.queryTopologyObjects (query)

    for (obj in objs)

    {

    host of def = obj ['monitoredHost']

    If we cannot find the monitored host, this rule

    probably does not apply to us

    //

    if(Host == null)

    continue

    Create a new location for this host if necessary

    //

    def hostName = host ["name"]

    def hostRules = host [hostname]

    if(hostRules == null)

    {

    hostRules = [] like TreeSet

    host [hostname] = hostRules

    }

    Add the rule to the host

    //

    hostRules.add (rule.getName ())

    }

    }

    Print pretty

    //

    guests return ["your - client.here.com'"]

    Example of output would be:

    [CPU use, system files, use memory capacity]

    This script can be edited (or a written new) for a particular rule, it will return a list of all the hosts extended?  I guess it's pretty simple for geniuses here.

    Thank you

    Brian

    Hi Brian...

    I have an iteration over for you. This gets all the rules and runs

    application of determination of the scope of each rule. It takes each result of said and tries to find any host (s) Hung

    out some likely properties of the result (see the getRelatedHostName() method). You can

    grep through the results for the rules you are interested in.

    Enjoy!
