• How can I get my LOF to see the chapter numbers and page?

  I work in FM 11. My document has a TOC, BATCH, and LOF. My LOF would not be up-to-date, so I created a new one from scratch, but can't seem to get the LOF to display the chapter number in the Figure number and the page number. The format should be TitreFigure X - Y Figure... X Z. Where X is the chapter of the source, there is the number listed in this chapter, and Z is the number of page (Figure 1 - 1 Architecture... 1-5 showing the first figure in Chapter 1 is on page 5 of Chapter 1.)

  I tried to copy the reference to the table of contents or the BATCH page. My LOF looks like this:

  

  You must add the <$chapnum>component in all relevant places you want FM to display the chapter number (see the table of contents for examples). You will also need to change some of your paratags to be included in the automatic numbering (if your content is using this combo of num chapter-figure in your chapter documents).

  Also insert the tabs in page reference LOF definitions, but use the code '\t' instead of a tab character so that you know that a tab command was specified. Change the corresponding paratags to include the desired tab stops. (for example for Figure_TitleLOF you should have something like "<$paranum><$paratext>\t \t<$chapnum>-<$pagenum>").

• Missing headers... now the missing pages

  I use InDesign CC2014, with the current updates. The file in question, is 566-page, all text, no pictures. 30 chapters, all based on the first chapter.

  The other day, I opened the file, and the half common titles disappeared (all the titles on the back of the power were simply not there, not on the page, not on the masters).

  I loaded the masters from a previous version, and everything was OK.  I made a PDF, print, everything was fine.

  I have opened today, the file to edit, and massive pages are missing.  I noticed that, when you perform a search by Word, and the result I kept taking back to the first page.  Looking down from the Pages Palette, I saw empty pages.  When I scroll box of cardboard we huge gaps and missing pages:

  I would say that the file is damaged beyond redemption, probably. My strategy at this stage would be to delete all but the first page, then place the text cursor in the text on the first page without selecting anything. File > export... and choose referenced text in InDesign.

  Create a new file and place the exported tagged text and see if everything is there.

• Missing Pages and Numbers after upgrading to El Capitan.

  I have spend Lion, El Capitan, expecting the apps, Pages, and Numbers to be installed as part of the upgrade. I understand that these applications have been made available in the upgrade to Yosemite. If it were, why haven't they installed when I upgraded to El Capitan. Thank you!

  Pages, Numbers and Keynote (iWork alias) applications were never part of any Mac OS X. They came with the new Macs, in previous days on the CD/DVD/card reader, later as a free download from the Mac App Store. In the App Store, it must be associated with an AppleID downloading for the first time.

  Usually an update/upgrade does not remove these applications. But if they were very old versions (not compatible with El Capitan), they could have gotten deleted during the upgrade process. The latest versions are only available via download on the Mac App Store. Check your purchases if you have purchased or registered before. If this isn't the case, then you will need to buy them.

• Missing page numbers

  I have several spreads from a template with missing page numbers. I think that this occurred when I reproduced spreads and modified. The following pages are accuately are numbered sequentially, thereby acknowledging the pages with missing numbers. I tried applying the master, but that did not work.

  Open the LAYERS Panel and add a new layer. Go to the master page and select the objects in the header and foot of page, and then in the find panel layers the little colored square on the right side of the layer 1, click and drag the layer 2.  Your objects will now be on layer 2. Lock the layer so that you do not use it for other objects in the background.

  The only way to install an ipad app is through the app store.  PC or Mac software does not run on the ipad.  Search in the contacts link at the bottom right of this page.  Give apple a call.

  I guess is the icon for pages in icloud for storing documents pages.  At the same time, apple had a cloud based pages.  Not sure what happened to her.

  One of the document file is a generated table of contents (TOC). Unfortunately, the generated page

  Set the numbering style in the document, and not in the book that we told you. Format > Document > numbering. Choose Arabic or digital. Repeat for the various chapters.

  I use Indesign CC 2014.

  I created a book, consisting of several separate Indesign documents. The page number for the majority of the documents resets to 1, even though the settings are correctly defined:

  

  The screenshot above shows the second document in the book. The page numbers in the document are properly leaving page 13, as long as the previous document finished at 12.

  But see how the book file shows the numbers restart from 1. And they do the same thing on the table of contents:

  I think I have these configured correctly, and yet the book file shows each page 1 reset.

  All the documents have the same exact Document number Options, as I showed earlier.

  I even tried to create a file of book .indb nine, but the problem remains.

  I sent the .idml the version files to a friend who has Indesign cs5, and she said they were numbered everything correctly on the two real pages and in the table of contents - she had absolutely no problem on its version. So there must be another parameter/overide/bug on my system that causes this problem.

  I'd love help on how to fix this please.

  Problem solved!

  I came across this post (Re: automatic numbering does not work in the files of the book of) and the fix was: preferences-> General-> Page numbers and put it in the Section numbering. I had already been advised to have as absolute numbering, but once I changed it, the problem is resolved.

  I'm working on a book of 450-500 pages with 4 chapters, 150 + images full page of text, end and beginning of information (title page, preface, introduction, table of contents, annexes, glossary, end notes).

  I booked three chapters using the InDesign book feature, now works on the bits before and end and a final chapter (actually Chapter 1).

  I watched the excellent video of Michael Murphy on the feature of the book, and it adds the page numbering and sections before he created the model. I make them after I have chapters in the book.

  A question: same thing if you are working on a single document to create a doc of island new section where you want and adjust the figures. Numbering book will adjust when you synchronize the numbers in the book panel.

  Two Qusruib: put this stuff on master pages. Title of the book is not likely to change from page to page, then type this information in a text block. To the chapter title, use a running Header Variable (see variables in the help).
