• ODI for Hyperion Planning upgrade upgrade

  Dear all,

  I really need your advice. Now we are in the process of Hyperion Planning upgrade 11.1.1.3 11.1.2.2

  We must also modernize ODI. Hyperion Planning and ODI now run on the same machine. And after upgrade HP, it will be even...

  So now we have 2 servers - current HP more ODI and new HP.

  Could you please how to make the process of upgrading of ODI?

  PS: I don't want to touch existing ODI. And I don't want to install the previous version on the new server.

  I'd be happy if it was the way with the new installation of version ODI with migration of repositories for new machine...

  Install a newer version of ODI in the new server. Then take the saving deposits of the ODI and restore them to new db.

  Using the upgrade process, upgrade the ODI, then connect them with newly installed ODI.

  With the help of ODIhome/bin/us.bat, we can improve the ODI version.

• ODI and Hyperion Planning help

  I have 2 Hyperion Planning 9.3.1 configuring servers for applications of Finance and human resources. I want to copy the data from the application of human resources to finance one.
  
  I ODI 10.3.5 installation on a machine separate with Hyperion Planning card installed. In the topology Manager when I try to create a new database in Hyperion Planning Server, I do not see the Application (catalogue) and demand (the work catalogue) drop downs fill.
  
  I checked the RMI registry service running on the server of hyperion and port 11333 is also free.
  
  I'm new on ODI and I'm trying to set it up using Oracle guides.

  Again check your odiparams.bat file and make sure that there is no space located right after the encoded password, repository work name, username etc.

• Problem of using IE 8 with Hyperion Planning and workspace

  Has anyone tried using IE 8 with Hyperion Planning and workspace? I found that sometimes it has the error message and cannot allow users to log out.

  We tried IE8 with system 11. It simply doesn't get it. IE8 is not officially supported yet. And over the years, I have learned this lesson: never use a new browser, unless it is officially in charge.

• Integration of DRM with Hyperion Planning Application

  We try to decide whether to include DRM in our solution or not, and I'm new to this module.

  My question is:

  1. If I use the classic Hyperion application, do I need an ODI to integrate metadata between Application Hyperion and the DRM?
  2. What happens if I am on application of EPMA, what a way to integrate metadata between DRM and enforcement?

  -It depends if you want to use ODI or not, planning utility gives OultineLoad, you must generate an export of DRM in the required format and load it to the planning application. But ODI can integrate other technologies, which can pop - in the future to come. Also better control the flow of data with debugging.

  2. what happens if I am on application of EPMA, what a way to integrate metadata between DRM and enforcement?

  You can integrate DRM with EPMA and allows to load the DRM metadata for library EPMA which will flow more in the planning.

• Adapter ODI for Hyperion planning

  Hi gurus,

  I have problem with definition for Hyperion planning server data connection. What database server, I need to use for the connection of Hyperion Planning. Planning of the app is on separate servers that the cube. Cube is on Essbase server. This means that I need to two different connections, one for the data (essbase cube) for metadata (server when considering app). Is this really?

  I made only one connection on essbase server and try reverse engineering to cube essbase, which I made with the planning, of model, but it gives me an error:

  [com.hyperion.odi.planning.ODIPlanningException: com.hyperion.odi.planning.ODIPlanningException: could not connect to the instance of planning on host hostname], [port] port, check if connect you are correct.

  I put port 11333 on the server where is installed my workspace for planning, and finally I managed model of reverse engineering for Hyperion planning.

  I use 9.3.1 planning and Oracle DB.
  
  (1) will not be OK if I go with "complete the installation that includes Oracle Data Integrator, Oracle Data Profiling and Oracle.
  Quality of the data to Oracle Data Integrator"with the client and the server on the same machine?
  
  Does also need to install these components?
  (2) browser to metabase
  (3) JDBC driver
  (3) light designer
  
  I think that the adopters are required for use with Hyperion.

  You should not need "" Oracle and Oracle Data Quality data profiling"
  When you install, you can just install the Oracle Data Integrator, then choose complete.

• How to integrate HFM with Hyperion Planning?

  I was wondering how we integrate between the HFM and Hyperion Planning?

  I'll use HFM to consolidate different companies and then I'll use Hyperion Planning at the consolidated level generated by the HFM.

  But I don't know how does this technically happen? We use the FDQM to collect the data from different sources and to consolidate in the HFM? I can't find what is the backend of the HFM... I read somewhere that it is not based on essbase... so please advise.

  And so, how connect the HFM planning or it will load the HFM data to plan the Hyperion/essbase?

  Please tell us in this integration as I am confused in it.

  There are several ways to extract data from HFM and loading of planning/Essbase.

  Some options are ODI, Extended Analytics (now export data), EPMA, EAL data synchronization (even if it was only Essbase)

  If you search the Internet you can get examples for example

  I created the Planning Application and when I do a validate. I get some errors and when I click Validataion newspapers a pop up window comes and disappears. Where can I check my Logs of Validation and how to solve the problem of popup window... Can someone help out me.

  This will be your browser settings, I assume you are using IE

  Go to tools > settings > Security > click Custom level for the area you use for planning i.e. Internet Local

  Check your settings in the downloads section, make sure that "Ask confirmation for file downloads" is set to enable

  I highly recommend you look smarter than you are with Hyperion Planning: create Hyperion Planning Applications. The authors are humorous and do a great job of you browsing through the process without treat you like a fool. However, the book is definitely a step by step guide that is based on himself. It teaches you concepts, but relatively linearly. So if you are looking for a reference book that you can open and find examples of 'abstract', then this is not the book for you. If you are looking for a good tutorial to start, as you might find in a classroom, then certainly give it a try.

  The book is definitely aimed at developers but. Depending on your interaction with the system you may benefit more from guide to the administrator, or the two guides on the Oracle's Web site - particularly if your use of the system is less technical.

• Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1 Custom Types Dimensions/Plan

  I was hoping to get some expertise on an issue I have with Hyperion Planning. We are currently working on the 11.1.2.1 environment and we have 2 types of active plan implemented;

  Plan Type A - dimension of active channel (Custom)

  Plan B - channel (Custom) inactive dimension Type

  For the channel size, is it possible to transform the Plan Type B as a valid plan type in 11.1.2.1? I didn't know if it could only be configured on the creation of the application or not.

  If we activate the dimension for the type of plan, I understand this will cause a number of issues, for example to set the POV for all Web/reports/Scripts for Plan Type b Forms. We are just assessment of the impact, have previously, anyone had any experience of this?

• Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1.0 Installation Wizard

  Hai all
  I downloaded and extracted the zip of the files associated with hyperion planning 11.1.2.1.0 (Microsoft Windows 32-Bit) installation. All extracted zip files are located in the same place.
  But when I double click the file InstallTool.cmd and the Installation Wizard does not appear in my windows.
  
  VMWare OS: Windows 2003 (32 bit)

  You have all the spaces in the full path, if so remove the spaces or move to a directory without spaces.
