OEM Momentus 5400 WD7500BPKT 7200 HD upgrade

I cloned my OEM disk via eSATA port to the black Scorpion WD7500BPKT who was the clear winner in a collection on Tomshardware faceoff of HD. I used image and is manually set the size of the target partition myself. All right.

I compared the results on CrystalDiskMark and get readings higher except for the 4 K this last two tests. Odd, but each is different results as well as running on another partition on the disk is different as well.

I know that these are fast disks, but the change in the reference index me no confidence it tests.

I'm sorry, but you will need a Windows 9 x / ME drive to provide during the XP installation from the XP disc is a version upgrade. There is no way around that. See if you can find a friend with an older operating system disk (not a recovery disk) to support qualification. Otherwise, you would need to buy the full version (not upgrade) of XP to install on the computer. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • How to connect a HDD Momentus 5400.6 via a usb cable

I am trying to recover data from an internal Momentus 5400.6 hard drive that was installed in a laptop ASUS who died recently. I connected the hard drive to another computer laptop pc under Win 7 sata to a usb cable. But when the system tried to install the driver that a failure has occurred. Through the Device Manager the drive appeared in the list of usb devices with an ASMT1051 tag, but with a yellow triangle with an exclamation point and the properties that "this device is not configured correctly. (Code 1) ». I tried to correct the problem by following a post suggesting to delete infcache.1 file in the c:\windows\system32\drivestore subdirectory and then restart and reinstall the hard drive, but that has not fixed the problem. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on how to fix this problem?

    Hi again Isha,

Thank you for continuing to read and answer all my dilemmas. My printer is a HP LaserJet 1100. The symptoms were it seems to load the driver ok, no harmful looking for signals through the Device Manager. When I printed a document if the print queue shows the document sent to the printer, but the printer just sitting there - no impression ensued. I tried attached to different usb ports, but nothing seemed to work. I noticed that there are 2 different printers available for printing of property. But neither the printers when selected would be to print a document. So I uninstalled the printer, rebooted and tried again. This time, it seemed to work ok. There was only a printer connected to the system and printed OK.

I don't know if the condition to have 2 printers was caused by the setting of the printer on a different port or not.  I usually disconnect the printer until I need to print anything because of my 'office' layout So it appears I have my system back up and running as usual.

Thanks again for the hand holding ;-)

  • Is Seagate Momentus XT 750GB / 7200 RPM/MIN/32MB6GBPS COMPATIBLE WITH XPS M1530?

    Hi all

I would like to know if the Seagate Momentus XT 750 GB internal Serial ATA Solid State hybrid Drive for laptops (Model # STBD750100) is compatible with the XPS M1530?  I bought the M1530 in March 2008, but my drive crashed, so I need a new.

Here are the specs for the Momentus XT:

    2.5"/9.5mm

    750 GB

    7200 RPM

    SATA

    6 GB/s data transfer

    32 MB Cache buffer

8 GB flash NAND of SLC solid state memory

I really wanted a disc SATA 1 TB 7200 RPM with 32 MB of cache (but I'd settle for 16), but so far, I've not had much luck finding one in my price range that would work.  Site of parts/upgrades of Dell recommended only 500 GB/5400 RPM.  Told me a dell agent via chat than the Dell 1 TB 7200 RPM Nearline SATA would work, but starting at $ 470, is the way out of my price range.

If the Momentus XT will not work, anyone know of any player who would get me close to everything on my wishlist?

    Thanks for the help.

    AGJ

Yes, the Momentus XT will work.

Nearline SATA disks cannot even hold, much less work - so that the recommendation is defective.  They are designed for type blade - notebooks no servers.

  • Replace the hard drive 5400 to 7200

I want to replace my hard drive which is at 5400 RPM with a 7200 RPM.  Pavilion dv9810us laptop.  This laptop will do the upgrade in speed?

Yes as simple as plug & play.

WD Scorpio Black 500 GB or 750 GB if you need & with at least 16 MB of cache, they are readily available at great prices, fast & reliable... On a new generic installation Windows 7 you can get great startup faster disk speed gains. on an old HP of five year on windows 7 32 bit & 2 GB virtual laptop we get 45 > 50 seconds boot to usable desktop without too much effort & with antivirus installed thanks mainly to the fast drive...

  • Envy dv7t-7200: SSD upgrade in 2nd slot on HP Envy dv7t-7200. Cannot find or run the Bios

So I added recently internal a second drive in my HP Envy dv7t-7200 because she had a second slot. The first was a 1 TB HARD drive and what I added is a compatible 500 GB SSD from Crucial. At startup, the SSD was not recognized as I can't find anywhere in my computer to use. Also, I tried to go into the BIOS to see if the second part of the motherboard to the drive 2nd spot has been activated but now the computer starts too fast and I can't enter the BIOS. Given that nothing is installed on disk 2, I have no idea why the computer starts much faster. Would it be due a QuickLaunch for the BIOS update can I have recently installed? If so, how to uninstall that?

I also wanted to just insisted on my laptop as possible and that's why I decided to upgrade, any help would be greatly appreciated.

A new empty ssd drive will not be displayed in my computer (PC), until the disk is initialized and formatted. Right-click on computer and choose manage... disk management and see if there is a new blank disc. If so create a new volume in it (partition) then format then assign a drive letter.

You want to have the OS on the SSD and have it in the main location as only a car in this slot is bootable. You lose the speed of the SSD in the second location for pure storage. As hanging Secretariat up to a plow.

  • OEM key does not a version upgrade from vista hp

I have an upgrade copy of windows vista, I used it to clean a laptop that is Linux, now, when I enter the key OEM COA, it says its invalid but this is the orignal operating system the laptop was on the installation, how can I get this to work and authentic?

    Hi Vetsoh Productions,

If you have received the Dell upgrade, see the following article:

    http://support.Dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/DSN/en/document?c=US&DL=false&l=en&s=GEN&docid=2A6841424B916A0FE040A68F5B2828EE&doclang=en&cs=

If this does not work, should be contacted for any additional questions about their software OEM Dell Support:

    http://support.Dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/vista_support/vista_main?c=us&l=en&s=Gen&redirect=1

Finally, the Windows Upgrade versions require that an earlier version of Windows is installed on your computer before installing a later version.

    I hope this helps!

  • H8-1445 SSD, HARD 5400 and 7200 HARD w/SSD drive CACHE.

I'm looking in the H8-1445, and I want to set it up as follows:

120GB SSD = for the OS, Film/Photo editing, games etc...

250 GB HDD (5400) = from old PC to 'TRY' and use it as a buffer VIRUS and temporary storage.

2 TB HDD w/16 GB SSD cache = main storage and the SYSTEM of IMAGERY.

In addition, I heard Yes and no on this issue.

Windows 7/8 automatically detects the SSD so TRIM is set accordingly?

    Hello

The 120 GB SSD is too small for the HP recovery discs work.  Try at least 160 GB for the OS and the required partitions (master boot record).

Trim is automatic with Windows 8.  Run the Windows 8 assessment tool to make sure that the TRIM is enabled for the SSD after that facilities have been completed.

Press Windows + R keys > formal WinSAT.exe and click OK.

You will probably have to make all facilities with the bios legacy mode value and secure boot disabled quick start.

  • HP dv6z-7200 Envy: upgrade memory for HP Envy dv6z-7200

    Hello

I want to upgrade my memory of 16 GB of RAM. Can someone tell me what is compatible with my laptop? A specific question: 204 pins or 240? Product suggestions would be great. Thank you very much.

    Hello

It uses the RAM sticks of 204 pins. Please use the page #5 of the following book:

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c03591281.PDF

The manual also shows you how add/replace the RAM (from page 56). For compatible RAM, please use the following tool and see SPD tab. It will show you RAM specs and manufacturer.

    http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/CPU-z/CPU-z_1.72.1-en.exe

or you can use the manufacturer on the above (page 56) manual buy RAM.

    Kind regards.

  • New OEM SSD - what is best backup/upgrade? (SD7SN3Q256G1002 - Zenbook UX305FA)

Bought Asus Zenbook UX305FA-USM1 with this SanDisk model M.2 SSD 256Go (search here the text "peripheral storage"; or "and M.2 SSD module" for SSD in the photo).  This is my first experience with SSD and I'm more than a little impressed!

But I worry about SSD and might like to have an image clone SSD ready at any time to replace the factory unit.  But a call to technical support phone SanDisk could not immediately recommend a replacement but rather suggested to contact Asus first for their recommendation.  So I come here first for suggestions.  A capacity of about 256 GB is sufficient for me, especially since the largest units seem to be out of my price range.

I'm still learning about new connections since the old days of IDE... but I think this isn't "M2", SATA III (?).  By the look of it, it's a 80mm in length.

I'll probably have follow-up questions, so I'll leave my question to that for now...  Any suggestions? ... anyone with experience?

SanDisk does not sell a SSD m2 to the retail, so he would not have a SanDisk SSD you can buy separately for your computer. Now that said if your computer has a 2.5 SATA port "or a port MSATA form factor of SanDisk options there but m2 is not sold at retail.

  • I try the installation key OEM Office or upgrade to another version of Vista

Hi, I had the same problem here.

until someone shows me at the door, shouting that I have tried the vista OEM key to install office or upgrade to another version of vista, here are the facts:

    -C' is my work laptop.
-It was installed with a volume work XP pro license.
-J' changed jobs, negotiated to keep my laptop in the process.
-I'm legitimate, I don't want the volume from my previous job license.
-I am reloading the preinstalled version of vista from the CD supplied with the notebook microsoft (not the CD before installing, I wanted a windows clean and neat)
-L' label on the back of the PC say "vista home premium OEMAct".
-I am running windows vista Home premium
-J' I updated my bios to the latest version
    -vista will not activate automatically.
-J' tried to call microsoft for manual activation. the IDS are recognized (if you try to enter a wrong number, it is said that there is a mistake), but when I hit "next" after having typed the ID told me on the phone, I get an error indicating that the code is wrong.

a now I get the Activation Assistant 0xC004E002 error when I try to run it.

I don't see what I did wrong... someone has a lead what to do next, other than reinstalling windows?
I don't want to bother to reinstall all drivers and applications (openoffice, java, firefox, xnview, avira antivir...) that I just installed.
And I want a working solution, as I am not really convinced that reinstall windows don't lead me to the same problem on new.

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards

    Hello

First of all-> you have a Toshiba laptop?
If so,-> to the Vista preinstalled on your laptop is already activated!

The key at the bottom of the device belongs to the OEM of Vista version and it is just a confirmation that you are using a legal Vista operating system.
The key cannot be used with MS Office and other versions of Vista!

If you want to upgrade the Vista then you will probably get a new key from Microsoft.

  • Change the product key to use COA OEM during the product upgrade

I found the kkid106 question "can I use a product key Windows 7 OEM to a retail facility.

But as it is not my particular case, I want to be sure and make the issue.

The question is on a clean install of Windows 7 Home Retail using Windows 7 OEM Home.  My case is not a clean install.

I have the following two scenarios:

Scenario 1. A computer with Windows XP Pro OEM who got the original damage.  I have an Image backup which I bring to a Destination with Windows 8 OEM computer.  I get a retail upgrade of Windows 8.  I restore the Image to the destination computer, and then upgrade old XP Pro OEM with retail upgrade to Windows 8.  Technically I find myself with a computer without a license since the upgrade come from an OEM from another computer.  Now, I change the product key by using the Destination COA OEM computer to make a licensed computer.

This scenario is correct.  Can I validate the license online or by phone?

Scenario 2. A computer with Windows XP Pro OEM who got the original damage.  I have an Image backup which I bring to a Destination with Windows 8 OEM computer.  I have an Upgrade download Windows 8 without product key.  I restore the Image to the destination computer, and then upgrade old XP Pro OEM upgrade download to Windows 8.  I find myself with a computer without a license, because the upgrade is unlicensed and comes from an OEM from another computer.  Now, I change the product key by using the Destination COA OEM computer to make a licensed computer.

This scenario is correct.  Can I validate the license online or by phone?

  • How re - install support of Windows 7 upgrade without going through the OEM operating system installed first?

Windows 7 upgrade & have no original oem disk

    (1) if the upgrade to windows 7 (retail disc) is placed on a machine with functioning earlier OEM version of windows XP

    (2) windows OEM version is not available

    (3) windows 7 crashes

    (4) what is 7 reinstalled windows after the crash

I guess I should have been more precise

Illinois portable motherboad was fried (in CA at the time)

California replaced authorized Toshiba repair (lost records)

We later found out way software OEM does not recognize the key to the motherboard

    XP cannot be reloaded

    We are limping

That is why the need to upgrade to Windows 7

Toshiba has doing just the thing of Windows XP.

However - I'm not sure what has to do with following the instructions I mentioned you to. ;-)

  • Upgrading English W7HP to ultimate with Japanese OEM upgrade disc?

I live in the Japan and have W7 Home Premium (OEM).

I want to upgrade to Ultimate, change the language in Japanese and give this computer to my father-in-law.
Can I use a Japanese OEM (DSP) upgrade disk to do this?

    Thank you

Just to be clear, I can use a DSP drive until I do a clean install?
You can install custom with it, Yes.

Or I can use the Express upgrade... until I do a clean install?
    No, you can't.
The fact that the base OS is English and the upgrade disk would be Japanese is not a problem?
You will be able to custom installation, but you cannot be upgraded.
